I am highly confused by all of the high marked ratings. Do people in Modesto actually like food? I went back to Squeeze after a long period of skipping it. This visit will keep me from returning. The outdoor seating was probably the only pleasant thing about our breakfast. The waitress took our drink order once we were seated and, aside from the coffee, was the only time any drink was offered. The coffee was lukewarm and once creamer was added, basically cold. The table next to us ordered the giant bloody Mary's and fortunately they had loads of attention... Our order was taken by a second waitress and then we saw nobody until our food showed up. Literally nobody. Odd since seating is limited due to being outdoors and there was plenty of staff. Eventually, three out of five plates were brought out and the waitress asked if we wanted extra plates and then told us to enjoy. Ummm what about our other food??? The pancakes were like rubber. Even using a knife was difficult to get them cut. Are they made with bisquik? Definitely had the taste of a box mix. Even the kids noticed the taste was off. The stuffed French toast looked amazing and yet, half the plate tasted like onions. It was almost as if it was prepared where onions were cut or put on a grill where onions had been cooked. Half of the plate went to waste because nobody could stomach the onion taste. The eggs Benedict was disappointing at best. The English muffin was barely toasted. The eggs were over cooked. The sauce was literally the only good part of the plate and made eating bearable. We get through 85% of the meal and the check showed up. Normal. Of course, THE CHECK got checked on numerous times. and by numerous, I mean at least 3 to 4. Once I paid for our parties meals and plates were being removed, we FINALLY had someone come by asking if we'd like our drinks refilled. Yeah, no need now since none of us are eating. We also got offered to go boxes 3 separate times. We actually started laughing at the fact that it took an entire meal for the service to improve. Needless to say, we won't be back. I really wanted to like this place since I live relatively close and people act like they love it. But after this, I'm convinced people in this town just have extremely low expectations for food. read more

My family and I went to Squeeze in to have a birthday breakfast for my son and grandma. We couldn't have asked for better service. Laurie was a delight! We have two toddlers 3& 4 and the box of toys and dinosaurs was amazing! They had a great time! Everything came quickly, and almost all of the tables were filled. The food is expensive, but beyond worth it! The portions are huge and the food was delicious! One of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The wait is long if you get there after 10 a.m. but it's worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and helpful. What a fun place I'm all about the alien theme. Came here on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The place was packed and there was a little but of a wait. We took the time to start looking at the menu, which I'm glad we did because there are so many good things on and it was difficult to decide. I got the chilaquiles which were nice and spicy. The bottomless coffee is quite good. The atmosphere is friendly and cozy. I would definitely go back and try some of the other great sounding dishes, especially the sourdough French toast. read more

Order our food Can't even remember the name of what I ordered but was a breakfast type sandwich. Waitress brings it to the table an right off I notice a nasty smell I thought well maybe it was her. picked up my sandwich to eat IT AN OH MY GOSH THE SMELL WAS HORRIBLE even my friend was like what is that smell the bread smelled like a dirt wet dog. Had the hangover omelet stuffed with all kinds of bacon, sausage, ham and cheese! with the side of country potatoes that i drenched in chedder cheese and sour cream, oh My word it was good! Our first breakfast dining experience here was mediocre, but we decided we would give the place one more chance. But our second experience was actually worse. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait; we waited for 40 minutes (and noticed that two later groups of the same size were seated before us). Customer service was lacking, granted it was busy, but we felt like we were being a burden and eventually just stopped asking for the things we needed (eg. messed up orders, coffee refills, salt/pepper, butter, creamer, napkins). As for the food, other reviewers got it right when they said it was bland. For example, the breakfast spuds (which cost extra for my plate) were merely cut potatoes. Soft, lukewarm, no seasoning. Not the crispy, hot, flavorful potatoes with peppers that you expect from a good breakfast spot. The owner/manager said that they cook them that way purposefully because some people don't like them seasoned and "everything is on the table for you"...? Not sure what that meant, but she did take the spuds off the bill for us which was appreciated. My friends said they were underwhelmed as well and would not be back. read more

Huuuuuuuge portions! Was so pleasantly surprised by this little diner in a Modesto strip mall. The only mistake I made was ordering the Hail Mary (secret HUGE Bloody Mary that's not on the menu) and a full entree. There's a mini grilled cheese and a bunch of garnish on the Hail Mary. Next time, the perfect order will be: a split entree and a Hail Mary :). My parents split this lobster omelette thing and it was AMAZING. I got some breakfast omelette burrito but I definitely had order envy once I tasted that delicious buttered lobster. They even added an extra pound of lobster! If you do split this meal, ends up being the same as a regular entree. Also, be ready to wait. This place is extremely popular on the weekends. read more

Definitely read the menu prior to coming here or you will spend an hour perusing the HUGE variety of options to choose from. I've had both breakfast and lunch and most everything has been VERY good. I didn't love the country potatoes, a little dry and bland, but there's a cheese sauce as well as good sausage country gravy you can order on the side that makes the potatoes great for dipping. The hash browns are really good and made to order per your liking. I love crab so I've had the crab bennies and the crab sandwich and both were delicious. I don't have much of a sweet tooth and never been a fan of pancakes but their banana walnut pancakes with honey butter syrup made a convert out of me! They are AMAZING. I usually just steal some from my friends plate because the order is huge! If you have someone (or 3 or 4) to share with it makes for even more variety and a better way to taste more of the menu. The Mimosas and Bloody Marie's are picture worthy and the big Mary is a meal in itself. If I could change a couple things one would be to add a reservation system to reduce the long wait to be seated. It's often standing room only for the wait, so be prepared. The other would be to offer smaller plates. Portions of most everything are HUGE and my favorite, the Crab Benedict, comes with 3 bennies and isn't available on the mix and match bennie plate. I can only eat one and about 1/2 of the hash browns and neither of those reheat at home very well. The same is said for a lot of breakfast items like the pancakes, etc. I'd love to see an option added where you could get either smaller portions of the featured items or a variety platter where you could choose single servings of 3 or 4 items. I'd visit much more often if I knew my leftover food wasn't likely to be wasted. Overall it's really good food in Xtra large portions (therefor pricier than most breakfast spots) with a fun and friendly atmosphere. I definitely recommend giving it a try. read more

Due to the way the owner treated us today when we expressed to her how bad our service was, we will no longer be customers to squeeze in. Orders were wrong, never got refills that were offered to us. The worst part was that our children's food was the last to be brought to the table. It took a hour just to get a bowl of fruit for my toddler. We brought this up to the owner who had been the one serving us and it was completely flipped on us that we weren't being sympathetic human beings towards her and we weren't being fair or cared about her business. She offered us 50% off our meals and we were adamant that that was unacceptable. When we finally agreed to pay ( because I was done letting our kids listen to this ) she said she didn't want our money and walked away. I'm still so shocked by what happened. I understand everyone has bad days/ makes mistakes but that doesn't mean you can treat customers that way. I myself have worked in customer service for years. I had the McCarol Vegan Burrito with Tofu. I started eating and realized the burrito also had bits of bacon in it. Okay---I'm not actually vegan. I'm just trying to eat healthy....but doesn't vegan mean NO animal products? Bacon=pig=animal. Well, I ate it anyway because I'm a carnivore and I do eat meat. Great breakfast and brunch choice. The owners mom/son really care about your experience and the place runs like a top. Some people may complain that breakfast here is a little pricey... not compared to most places in CA. You will get a great breakfast or brunch or lunch, they only use great fresh ingredients. Plus you get a head-swimming array of choices. Everything we've had has been excellent, whether straight-ahead or unusual. I really like their signature benedict. Not too many breakfast spots do mimosas in Modesto, so there's another plus for the mimosa enthusiast. Not sure what happened to the Squeeze In but I'm so sad. Number one clue should have been the fact it wasn't busy? What happened??? I took my aunt to have breakfast ( I had been bragging about this place for a long time ) because she lives in Turlock we decided to go today. $40 for two people. Coffee was really bad, tasted like it had been on the heating plate too long. The avocado on my omelette had a lot of black in it obviously too ripe and the spuds I couldn't even eat. They were GROSS!! so sad. My aunt bought the breakfast and said for that price she expected a lot more quality. I thought the same thing and felt bad she felt like she wasted her money and a chance at a decent breakfast. Note: The amount of dirt and grime around the edge of floor and under the clock near the tables at entrance is horrible!!! Why in the world would you keep brooms and dustpans in the dining area where people are eating. Leaning up next to a booth???. I wanted to walk but we had already ordered. It is just not sanitary at all We won't be returning and I can't say I would recommend the place to anyone either. read more
