Made a trip to Tahoe with a group of friends decided we needed some breakfast so we ordered over the phone and went to pick it up when we got there in the afternoon. The gentleman on the phone seemed stressed and when we got there, there seemed to be only one person working. We brought all the orders home (or so we thought) but we were missing an order. The food was not good, the only thing that was appetizing was the Banana Walnut Pancakes which we would recommend. But we ordered eggs benedict's and omelettes and everything was very plain -- basically no taste and dry. I had an Eggs Benedict and the potatoes on the side were stale and tasteless, the egg was over cooked. Overall, unappetizing. They also didn't give us any ketchup to salvage the potatoes either. I have been a longtime customer at squeeze in- from back when it was just this one location, the portions were as big or bigger than they ate now- but at much more reasonable prices- the prices had increased steeply once the other locations opened up. And I accepted that. But I'm currently terminally I'll& unable to leave my house. I'm really weak atm, so a good friend of mine wanted to get me breakfast so I wouldn't have to cook. I was so very very excited. I ordered something that I'd had at other places that was just amazing& oh so sweet and decadent, The Queen Maggie- with whipped cream on the side- along with some sides- spuds& bacon- as I intended on splitting it with my 10yo son(hungry boy)... my friend ordered the Roos pancake breakfast special. I'd also asked for some of the "bottomless" English muffins- which I only know about bc I've been eating there since forever. It's experienced like these that reinforce my belief that I make so much better food at home, for SOOOOOO much less than the crazy markup and penny pinching going on at nearly all restaurants anymore! The good: My friend enjoyed his food very much, tho not so much after his first initial bites, bc he felt compelled to go to 7-11& buy me whipped cream bc.. The bad: No whipped cream in my order at all. For how much they charge for freaking PLAIN, we're talking barely spiced if at ALL potatoes- it was a small amount. No English muffins. No syrup even!! THAT WOULD'VE COST EXTRA $6!! The UGLY: Now after all that was missing in my meal one might think- well, at least you were able to tip accordingly, right? No. WRONG. Called in orders- whether they completely F#### Your order up or not& the fact that you actually received no physical service from anybody not withstanding- you are AUTOMATICALLY CHARGED 18% GRATUITY!!! And they DO NOT BOTHER TELLING YOU THIS- oh no- you get to find out@ the counter. I didn't send my friend with enough money to cover my food and half gratuity at that point bc while I'm a crazy good tipper for in person service- I think that's what earns a tip& a tip should NEVER, ever be something that is taken, but rather something that is earned& then received out of gratuity- APPRECIATION!! Get crying out loud here. Is this what we're resorting to now? Needless to say all my nostalgia at Squeeze in has been decimated and replaced by shock& saddened distaste. Good for all these folks who are having a good day& receive the full breadth of the staffs ability. I, unfortunately was not so lucky. And they were slow. I even checked. So take the gamble, if you like- but I promise you there are better ways awaiting you at better, more attentive cafe's and bistros. You just have to take a chance in a different direction. 4.5 stars. Cute little place located in Historic Old Town Truckee. Almost missed it because the sign is blocked from the road by outdoor tent seating. Very small inside, maybe 12-15 tables. Service was excellent, and the food delicious. I had applewood smoked bacon and eggs, home fries, and wheat toast. Next time will be french toast. Enjoy! We're here in Lake Tahoe on vacation and we're looking for a breakfast place which serves gluten free options. This restaurant came up. The place is small but nice. The staff greeted and seated us immediately. My family and I all ordered chicken fried steak and eggs. I have to say that it did not disappoint. I would have given this restaurant a 4 star except that it did not have gluten -free alternatives. Not a single one and on the menu they offered hashbrown but the waiter said their kitchen was too small to cook this. ‍??? As for the GF options most if not all the options are naturally GF. Squeeze In is a small chain of 11 restaurants, located in California, Nevada, Texas and Idaho, which offer breakfast and lunch in a relaxed, fun and colorful atmosphere. Tuesday morning, August 10, 2021, I had the pleasure to enjoy an amazing breakfast, along with super friendly service, at the Squeeze In, located in Truckee, CA. Squeeze In is located on Donner Pass Road, and as the road passes through downtown Truckee, it becomes the main street. "Old town" Truckee is quite quaint, as if offers many "mom and pop" stores, along with many restaurants. Truckee began as a railroad town, but since the 1960 Olympics, it has become a tourist town, and attracts visitors from all over the world, who enjoy the many outdoor activities the area offers. The only disadvantage is the "town" of Truckee charges $1.50 an hour for parking downtown. As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the dining room is long and very narrow, with tables for two on one side, and booths or tables for four on the other side. Truckee is located in the Sierra Nevada mountains, and the decor reflects the mountain setting, with wood floors and knotty pine paneling. The dining room sports a lot of "funk" including a bicycle hung from the ceiling, lots of pictures and photos, along with a mannequin of a hobo, who welcomes you to the dining room, before the friendly staff seats you. The walls of the restaurant are decorated with photos, plaques, along with stickers of every kind. Over the walls, the walls have been "autographed" - or is it graffiti? - by nearly everybody, as the walls are covered by graffiti. If I had brought a felt pen, I would have left my "John Henry" on the wall, along with countless others. From "The Usual Suspects" of the breakfast menu, I went with "Biscuits and Gravy," and I made it a "meal," as per the menu. The menu describes this fine breakfast as, "Our secret recipe... Big home baked biscuits smothered in homemade sausage gravy. Make it a meal - 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy, 2 eggs any style, and your choice of protein." The "protein" choices included bacon or sausage, and mentioned to Dailia that the decision was difficult, and she offered to split it between bacon and sausage. Done! Since was breakfast was "make it a meal," it started out with one large, freshly in-house baked biscuit, that was flavorful, perfectly baked, and a great foundation of one of my favorite breakfast choices - biscuits and gravy. The breakfast covered with a generous portion of creamy country gravy, with lots of chunks of sausage. Yes, the portion was generous, as it completely covered the biscuit, and part of the plate. As per my de facto standard, I ordered my eggs fried over easy, and they arrived perfectly fried just the way I ordered them, over easy. The chef has talent!\ Upon Dailia's suggestion, my "protein" was split between three slices of perfectly cooked bacon, and two juicy sausage links. This was truly the best of both worlds, as I got to savor two delicious varieties of meat with my breakfast. At $11.49 for breakfast, plus $6.49 for my "Michelada," my breakfast wasn't exactly a bargain, but it was filling, delicious, and was a quality meal in every way, and in my "foodie" opinion, represented an outstanding breakfast value in Truckee. The cuisine was delicious and the service was friendly and spectacular. What more could you ask for? Whether your skiing, mountain biking, hiking, or just enjoying the "old town" atmosphere of Truckee, and if you love breakfast, and if you're looking for a restaurant that's dead serious about dishing up a superior breakfast, check out Squeeze In the next time you're in town. You'll love this amazing restaurant! The bottom line? Squeeze In doesn't give their food away, but the food, the atmosphere, along with the amazingly service are priceless, and this is a "5-star" restaurant in every shape and form. read more

I have lived in North Tahoe for 5 years and I heard everyone speak highly of Squeeze In. Well I had some work done to my vehicle in Truckee so I finally checked the place out. I ordered the Racy Tracy due to the Food Network recommendation. Boy were they right. The omelet was a good hearty size but what I liked was the amount of mushrooms and the abundance of bacon bacon bacon. The bacon was nice, crispy and not greasy. I selected the tomato basil pesto dipping sauce and what a great combo. I used the sauce on the omelet, the house potatoes and my toast. I had to get a second because it was so good. The two servers constantly came by to check how I was doing and refilled my ice tea without hesitation. We were excited to try this place and made a trip to check it out. Customer service was fine and it's a cute little place. Food on the other side did not meet expectations at all. Ordered The Spanish Flay* and it was a huge disappointment. The omelet came out as a pile of chorizo, some red peppers and a touch of cheese covered under the blanket of brownish eggs. It appeared as the eggs were trying to hide the overcooked mess underneath. My wife ordered Huevos Montana* and it had the saddest piece of avocado that I have ever seen. Drinks were good. I don't know if we will return. I understand that running a restaurant is extremely challenging but a little quality check before taking the dish out to a customer goes a long way. read more

Food and service amazing! There is a reason it's called Squeeze in. Might be good for 2 people at a table for 4 but it's literally 10 ft wide inside and we 3 felt cramped and uncomfortable. The walls are graffiti'd on so it also felt abit unclean to me. We usually go to Wagon Wheel and it's more comfortable and food equally good. Food network hype all over the menu definitely tickled my curiosity. Origin story of the space being a converted alleyway is fun. Very kind people even in a busy time. No real maple syrup, which for a town like Truckee is kind of surprising given its high cost of living but also kind of not surprising given its regional location. Solid bloody Maries. The brunch standards were pretty standard, but with California pricing of course. The famous French toast is REALLY cream cheesy so have fun with that if you dare. I was visiting Truckee with family, so we decided to give Squeeze In a try. We were pretty excited after reading good reviews and seeing that it was featured in one of Bobby Flay's shows. After our visit, we all agreed it was just ok and over-hyped. Here are our reasons: Pros: - Decor was fun and quirky - We joined the Yelp waitlist before coming, so we were seated pretty quickly upon our arrival - Servers were kind - Glad that there are lighter and healthier options (Variety of dishes to choose from) Cons: - The table we were seated at was small for our big party; even though the restaurant itself is on the smaller side, I wish they could accommodate bigger parties better. - After we ordered, the food took pretty long to come out. - Patrons raved about big portions, but some dishes, such as the Sweet Potato Breakfast Bowl and the Racy Tracy, were on the smaller side, especially for their price - We all got the potatoes for our sides, and unfortunately, many of the potato chunks were undercooked even after how long the food took to come out. We came across this place and it looked cozy with great funky decor When they mean "squeeze in" they really mean that because you will be squeezed into some tight spaces but somehow it works. Sunday afternoon - be aware that there are long wait lists so go to Squeeze Inn first, check in, they will notify you on your cell phone when your party is ready to be served, enjoy your shopping in Old Town Truckee beforehand and after. The servers were busy and I think we might have been forgotten. The server realized the wait and gave us our coffees for free. Nice act. Be wary of the lazy waitress! As a native northern Nevadan I've been taking friends to the original Squeeze Inn for years. This is the first time I've ever had a not so great experience at any location. So I was craving the Racy Tracy. Literally the omelet that made them "famous" by Bobby Flay. So we sit down she takes our order blah blah. Food comes out and as I'm eating I realize 2 things: 1. I ordered cheese and onions on my potatoes and it came out with just onions :( 2. This omelet is supposed to come with a choice of sauce. And there's no sauce! So I politely flag down the waitress (who had t bothered to check on us to make sure everything was alright) and I ask, hey isn't this supposed to come with a sauce? She says to me, "oh I'm just the worst waitress and I don't offer it." She the asks me which one I want and brings it out. Really??! Ok I get it, Truckee us flooded with tourists. But seriously, that sauce is what makes the omelet!!! For several years now, our business trips have brought us to Reno, followed by drives up to Tahoe to explore the lake. For whatever reason, we never seem to get to Truckee. We usually head back down to the airport via the Mt Rose Highway or the Kingsbury grade, but being in Tahoe City, we detoured to Truckee and the Squeeze In. We all wished we had made this drive north to Truckee then I80 east into Reno years ago. First, the drive is easy peasy from the west side of the lake to the Reno airport. Second, and most importantly, the Squeeze In is now a 'must stop' destination. The tall young guy was masterful juggling the tables, delivering coffee, taking orders, with such politeness and ease. The chicken fried steak is the best you'll ever have...every plate was served-up without delay. Just one person and one cook and you'd never notice unless you look-up from your phone to witness how smooth the service operates. I'm betting there's not a bad item on the menu.
