Ambiance: 4 stars Service: 5 stars Food: 4.5 Stars Overall: 4.5 After three unsuccessful attempts at brunching at Squeeze In, my boyfriend and I finally managed to snag a table this past weekend. (Typically our wait time was projected to be about an hour for two people on any given Sunday.) They're famous for their omelets but their menu has a range of deliciousness including sandwiches, burgers and other typical breakfast/brunch items. For those that don't eat meat, they have a well-marked menu with a number of options for vegetarians. I was tempted by a bunch of items but ended up going with one of their more 'creative' omelets, the Zweifel. Peanut butter, apple, banana, honey... sounds disgusting but after asking the waitress and hearing her enthused response, I knew I had to give it a whirl. I mean, where else are you going to find that on the menu? Despite my apprehensions, it was AMAZING. So, sooo good; you don't really taste a lot of the egg so it's a much sweeter omelet than I had imagined. My advice -- go hungry! The omelets are huge and they're served with toast and a side of potatoes with your choice of sauce (the pesto is great... mmmm!). Wait time aside, this place is great! Fun environment and a great menu. A few tips: Like someone else had mentioned, check in on foursquare for a free mimosa your first time in! Also, like I noted, the wait times can get pretty heinous, even for a party of two. Get in somewhat early and throw your name on the list if you want to eat at a reasonable time. I love this place. Great atmosphere, friendly staff-- all of them are attentive, kind, and very much with-it. The food is outstanding and reasonably priced. Whenever I'm in Truckee this is my go-to breakfast spot. Occasionally I'll check out Log Cabin just to give the staff here a break, ha-- but this is my default breakfast spot and I'm never disappointed. I wrote this years ago and saw that it never posted-- was just a draft. All the things I wrote back in 2015 are just as true today. They crew that works there are awesome. Always busy, so be prepared to literally "squeeze in"! The old-school, down-home charm and quirky decor give this place a whole lotta personality, which sort of makes up for the lack of physical space. The place is a tiny hole in the wall type joint! It's family-owned, and truly a local Truckee gem. Now onto the food... The omelets are ginormous, i mean really HUGE. One of these babies, served with breakfast potatoes, and you'll be full through lunchtime. They are known for pouring gravies/sauces over the omelets. Bring on the calories, but it's actually pretty good! I gave Squeeze in 3 stars because of the wait that usually goes hand in hand with eating here, and because although the food's definitely GOOD, it's not culinary nirvana. One of our Truckee friends took us here before we headed back to San Francisco (Thanks Brad!) and I had an omelet with spinach, sausage and mushroom. They boast that they have one of the best omelets anywhere, and I have to agree. It was one of the best omelets I've ever eaten. Portion was large as well, I ate about 2/3 and was satisfied. This place has a huge 6 page menu of creative and classic breakfast and brunch options. We've eaten here at least 5 times in the past year and keep coming back for their friendly service and huge and tasty breakfasts/brunch. Expect a little wait, but not bad for such a small place. And it's soooo worth it. Not fine dining ( sorry to Yelpie Anon E) as there are no white table linens, but this place doesn't pretend to be that type of place. Service has always been friendly, everyone is laid back but not in a bad-for-customer-service way. Tons of omelets, they are pretty good, the highlights for me are the potatoes - they are crispy and crusty, and go great with the various 'sauces' you can get with the omelets (interesting twist). Had a good biscuits n gravy once, and the Bloodys are pretty good too. I'm not a local so I don't know if Squueze In is considered a tourist place, but I avoid touristy places like the plague because of their crappy vibe and this place has none of it! read more

This is the first time I've been here and I am a FAN! We went a few mornings ago and it's a crowded holiday season here in Truckee so we had to wait. When we walked it, it looked like a looong wait but ended up only being 15 minutes or so. And you could order drinks while you waited! People had coffee, sodas, Bloody Marys. I had a mimosa :) Was nice to have a drink and relax while perusing the yummy menu. They have so many yummy looking and sounding things on the menu, it is hard to choose. Tons of omelets, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, standard breakfast and lunch fare. They are open till 2pm and serve breakfast and lunch the whole time. I like that. Came here for a late b-day celebration brunch with friends and family. I was worried that we wouldn't be seated because it looked so busy but we were taken care of in about 10 mins and soon were seated. The food was delicious, I loved my breakfast burrito and everyone else seemed to enjoy everything they had as well. They have an array of omelets to choose from (if that's your thing) and also the faves as well. My problem with this place wasn't the food, or the atmosphere (there is writing all along the ways) it was the service. There were about 4 ladies working and none of them seemed to be attentive. One took our orders (after being seated for about 15 mins) and finally got us some drinks after we had to request service. Then it took another 10 mins to get our check after we requested it (we weren't a huge party....only 5 people) and not all of the food came out together either. We had one person waiting an additional 5 minutes for her food while the rest of us starred eagerly at our food.... So I say, don't expect to get anywhere in a hurry based on the lax service here. Great but very popular breakfast spot. The gf and I decided to check this place out after my brother and his gf recommended it. At first, the popularity of the place had us second guessing ourselves. I mean, we were hungry and having to wait a whole bunch to eat was a tough sell. But a bench opened up in the waiting area so we decided to tough it out. The wait turned out to be not so bad, maybe 15 minutes or so and then we were seated towards the back of this obviously narrow establishment. Bloody Mary's? yes please. This place made a surprisingly good one. The omelets were pretty hyped so I expected to be disappointed. After getting over the initial overwhelming feeling that a 64-omelet-deep menu induces, I went a little out of my typical omelet comfort zone and ordered the Racy Tracy omlette of Food Network fame. Despite my pessimism it turned out to be one of the best omelets I've had. And despite how busy the place was, I felt like we received good service. Okay. So, I am going to be fair, because the staff and the atmosphere were cool as shit. But I have some major MAJOR gripes. We came here after a night of drinking at our friend's house in Truckee, where my boyfriend and I were visiting. Excited for some "fuckin' French Toast" a la The 40 Year Old Virgin, we got to the Squeeze Inn, and they said the wait for 4 people would be about 20 minutes. So, we walk down, look through the shops, I buy some sunglasses, and then walk back. Still no luck for the seating.... I looked at the paper menu available outside. The french toast option sucked. Obviously this was an omelet place considering they had some 62 or something omelets. Sometimes eggs don't sound good during a hangover, but okay. So we wait. And wait. And wait. AND WAIT. Seriously, we waited for at least an hour, probably more. I joked that I was going to make a T-shirt that said, "Hostesses only make up wait times. Courtesy of the Squeeze Inn." Looks like I'm not the only person that feels that way either, as shown in the reviews below.... I ordered the Gord omelet, which was spinach tomatoes and mushrooms, and substituted the toast for a biscuit. They had the option of trying one of their three sauces: mushroom, tomato pesto, or cheddar cheese. I chose tomato pesto. My omelet came, and it was literally like they made the egg, then put the insides in there after the egg was on the plate. I took the egg off and ate my salad :) The potatos were awesome. The tomato pesto sauce was pretty much just spaghetti sauce, and according to my friend, their cheddar cheese sauce was like nacho cheese (GROSS). Oh, and my biscuit? The smallest biscuit ever. Squeeze in is the best breakfast in Truckee! The staff is very friendly and always gets it right, and the food is excellent. I have had a lot of the items on the menu, and everything is really good. The lunch is just as good as the breakfast, so be sure to try it as well. My only knock is the omelettes aren't "The best on the planet" but they are pretty good, and I always crack up at their names and descriptions. (BTW, I make a mean omelette myself and am usually disappointed with the restaurant variety) read more

Alright, was going to write a long review but I'll try to keep in simple. Showed up hangry and was put on the waitlist. Was kinda bummed to be sat right by the host stand/waiting area because I didn't want to be constantly stared at while eating OR be bumped by booties waiting to be sat. Neither happened. What DID happen (after maybe one of the most glorious chamberry drinks ever) was that I started to notice how freaken patient the host and waitstaff were to the endless line of people asking questions after questions. Don't get me wrong, the food was fantastic... and as a vegan I will definitely be back for their amazing meal (got the sweet potato meal with Beyond Sausage and it was glorious) but DAMN I was impressed with the resilience of the employees. They all went above and beyond to help out every single person that came in, whether they could accommodate them that day or not. That says a lot. Throwdown with Bobby Flay is what it said on the sign when you walk in. The place is the Best Omelet in Reno which Mr. Flay came down to do the Food Challenge. We ate the Truckee original location on the way back home. This location has been around for 36 years and it has local vibe feeling all around. From the Nostalgic pieces and Decor to the scribbled Graffiti all over the walls. It has Truckee's stamp all over the place. The place Squeeze in is exactly what it means. You are literally "Squeezed in" into a booth and are right next to your neighbor. The place has Friendly people and they genuinely made you feel Welcome as soon as you walk in. The place was packed on the weekend, but we were able to sit down quickly. They had the "Racy Tracy" Omelet on the Menu which was the one B. Flay challenge her with. We split a Racy Tracy which consists of Mushrooms, Avocado, Bacon, Monterey Jack, with a side of Tomato Pesto sauce. The Potato Browns we ordered with the Omelet were out of this world because they had Cheese and Onions mixed in. The lil' ones had the Quesadilla and Fresh Fruit. The portions were huge and the Food was spot on. The 3 Egg Omelet was perfect for 2 people and the Coffee was refilled nonstop. Now we have to come back and try the Bobby Flay's "Spanish Flay" Omelet to compare which is better. read more

Steve! Awesome breakfast. Staff is simply amazing. Best Dierdoni omelette I've ever had. Lots of tomato, cheese, bacon and sausage, and cooked perfectly. We also had the blueberry pancakes - light, moist - just the right amount of tartness to the blueberries. Sarah never once let my coffee cup get below half full too! It was so much fun to talk to many people at the tables around us that had never been to a Squeeze before. Also, Steve! We love this place, try all of their food. Really cool looking breakfast/ brunch spot in old town Truckee. They've been there since the 70's and they've really made a name for themselves since, especially for their omelettes. We found out that they've been featured in Food Network and Bobby Flay's Throwdown show. So of course, I had to order the Spanish Flay omelette. It was good, but I've had better elsewhere. My plate was piled with their potatoes and the omelette was small and it cost $16, plus extra $1+ to add meat in it. Very overpriced. They do have lots of other cool options in their menu: other famous omelettes, signature pancakes, all sorts of sandwiches, and many many more. Next time I will probably try the crab melt sandwich, which I regret not getting last time since it sounded so good from the menu. read more

Omelette HEAVEN! I was driving back to Nevada, coming from Sacramento & I stopped in Truckee for coffee & breakfast. It was early & the town itself seemed to be asleep. I asked a store owner who was sweeping the sidewalk outside of his store if he could recommend a good place for breakfast & he said "absolutely! Squeeze In is the best!". Turns out I was almost standing right in front of it, lol! Like I said, it was early :) I love the show THROW DOWN with BOBBY FLAY, so I had to try the omelette that was created in his honor, the Spanish Flay! It had sweet diced red bell peppers and the perfect amount of jack cheese :) But what made it the best I've had was definitely the tomato sauce that comes with it. You'll get a choice of 3 sauces, but go with the tomato! Trust me, you won't be sorry ;) You'll want to douse everything in it. If I had to describe the decor in one word, it would be GROOVY!
