Worst hamburger EVER, cold, dry, and lacked flavor. Fries were also cold without flavor even with ketchup.

We had two meals there. The line is super long. Food is just fine. Ambiance is accommodating.

Easily the best meal I had in Williamsburg…read more The food was excellent from start to finish. I cannot begin to tell you how much I loved the Cured Ham Sampler. It was like a Southern charcuterie board and was honestly pretty substantial. This started things off on a very high note. It was beautiful presented, carefully curated, and it tasted excellent. One question though, how are they not offering a ham sandwich with that amazing ham? What a highlight that was with their pickled onions. My husband had the catch of the day, which was sword fish and he ordered the pimento Mac and cheese on the side. I had a chance to try both and was very impressed. My father ordered the bone in pork chop, which is I must say, was the star dish. My mother had the cavatelli, which she actually finished and she never finished anything! And lastly, I had the burger, which despite asking for it to be medium rare I received it well done. It was still good and it maintained moisture, so I won't dock a point for that and the fries it came with were terrific. One thing is for certain, they clearly put a lot of thought into the menu. Every dish is clearly very well thought out. I really enjoyed the cocktails. My husband and I had a mojito and a strawberry mojito. They were both terrific. Initially though, my husband had ordered the horchata probibida. He asked to send it back because it didn't taste anything like horchata. As far as service is concerned, our waiter was excellent. Personable, knowledgable, friendly. You can't really ask for more. The ambiance was really nice. It had a polished, modern feel that made us feel comfortable to sit back with a cocktails and enjoy our time together. As far as I'm concerned, Williamsburg has no shortage of places that cater to visitors, but the Amber Ox is a restaurant that would be sought out regardless of the city that it's in. I highly recommend visiting here and this will be a place I visit again when I return to Williamsburg.

Both a must try if you're stopping by! Our server, Isa, was fantastic. She was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even better with her warm personality and great recommendations. Great food, great service! We'll definitely be back!

Visiting from out of town. Made reservations for a Friday evening and had no trouble getting in,…read morealthough it was busy. My husband was pleased with the offerings of beer and enjoyed what he had. WE had Boat Cheese Curds with Marinara as an appetizer and they were quite good. I ordered Fried Crab Claw Cakes that came with potatoes and a slaw. All were very tasty. My husband got the Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya and loved it. We took desserts for later at the hotel: My husband's brownie was good and they packed the ice cream separately, so that made him happy. I had the peach cobbler, and while good -- I tend to like my peaches a bit more "peachy" ....they use lots and lots of cinnamon and allspice. The fruit was dark brown. Good, but not what I'd hoped for.

Today I ordered two entrees and a side, to pick up for take out. The place is very cleqn and…read moreworkers polite. However the food was terrible! We ordered a Diners burger, Virginia burger, and house wings. The Burgers were borderline inedible due to the huge amount of salt. If i had been dining in I would have sent it back. I would not feed that much salted meat to my dog. The burgers dampness also had literally demolished the lower bun and iceberg lettuce. So i had to disgard those sodding blobs. The Virginian burger also salty, and the crab cake, small and underwhelming. The Chicken wings tasteless and dry. On too of this i had no choice but to pay a 10% tip for "take out prepare ". If i can give zero i would. Id say "fire the chef"
