Could easily have left off the bun!

Ordered a burger with no bun due to gluten sensitivity. The gruff man taking my order told me I had to have the bun. Then he asked the cook who said that if I didn't have a serious allergy then I could not order the burger without a bun. I assumed they just cook the burger on the flattop and can't do it without the bread. Burger comes out, nope, just a regular burger on a regular bun. No reason not to let me skip the bun- They are just jerks.

Highlights: Crab Cakes (hardly any fillers - remoulade had great flavor and zing), fries were fantastic, yummy milkshake, *incredibly friendly* staff. Comments: Burger was disappointing, brioche buns were a bit too oversized oversized compared to the rest of the sandwiches, a bit on the greasy side (no complaints, just be aware).

Food was better than top notch restaurants and everyone was so nice and friendly. It was clean and kept up !

The guy taking the orders is...not a nice guy and kind of curt. Asked for an extra slice of cheese, paid the up charge, burger (frozen, mediocre) came with just Swiss. I went back, said we paid for a second slice, he argues tells me Swiss only. He did eventually give the extra slice of cheese, I apologized for the confusion. Went back in for a Milkshake, they are priced at $6.25 he charged me $7, 12% sales tax? Maybe. I asked him for a cup for water, (this is after buying 4 meals, 4 bottles of water, and a milkshake (~$66) and he curtly refused saying "bottled water only". Watched him argue with another guy that ordered a sandwich and got a wrap instead. The other guy got tired of arguing with him and walked away. This guy has no idea what customer service is or the value of repeat business. Should have went to the other burger place and I will next time. He earned this review.

Solid lunch place - I stumbled in here due to time constraints that kept me from hitting up the bistro across the street. For a quick, decent meal, this place does the job. The menu is simple, it's a place full of burgers, hot dogs and milkshake options. I got a simple bacon cheeseburger with fries. The burger itself was very very good. Well made, not greasy and tasty. The fries were also stellar. Maybe not everyone loves these kinds of fries, but I thought they were pretty tasty and not greasy at all. The line here was pretty long during lunchtime. There isn't a ton of seating here inside but this isn't the kind of meal you need to linger for. Plus there's ample outdoor seating which is helpful. This place is also situated in a good area close to the shopping/colonial Williamsburg area. Generally speaking, if you want a quick place to grab a bite that's decent, this isn't a bad choice.

The food was decent but pretty bland for the price. Nearly $50 for a $20 meal. The staff was the greatest part, very warm and friendly

The food is great, old man behind the counter talked to me like I was stupid because I asked what was on one of the sandwiches.

Expensive, terrible chicken tenders, terrible ranch, but good fries. The inside has a cute vibe to it.

The menu also has so many food options, making it easy to find something for everyone. The food overall was great and very enjoyable. However, I would not recommend the brownie and chocolate sundae dessert. The brownie and cookie were cold and hard, which made the dessert disappointing. On the positive side, the carrot cake was huge and definitely worth sharing -- easily enough for 3-4 people. The service was excellent as well. Our waiter was very attentive throughout the meal and made sure everything was taken care of. Overall, Second Street American delivers great food variety, strong service, and a family-friendly atmosphere, with just a few misses on dessert.

Nothing wrong with this little grab-and-go carry out shop but at the same time, I wouldn't call it anything ahhhhmazzzzinggggg that would warrant more than just an average 3 star rating. Better than and more options than a hotel lobby self serve "mini mart." They serve self serve coffee (Members, don't forget to ask for your complimentary daily coffee tickets upon check-in!) but this place also has a barista for hot or iced lattes. Decent lattes, thankfully made with espresso shots not watered down or weak & wimpy. On par with what you would get at Starbucks. The latte menu is NOT extensive so don't expect a long latte/coffee drink menu like at Starbucks. I posted a pic of the latte/tea/juice/bfast sando menu with prices so have a look. Staff is SUPER NICE but both times I was there getting a hot latte, there was ONE WORKER each time running cash AND barista-ing. Not many more can fit behind that tiny ordering counter frankly. Thus - if you see any kind of long line, BE PREPARED TO WAIT. Or come back during non-rush hours. (Remember this is a conference center so it is highly likely conference attendees will be lining up to order before the start of the conference day and in between sessions throughout the day!) I read on their website that all their baked goods and pastries as well as sandwiches, salads etc are freshly house made there on prem so that's nice. Prices are not break the bank (for a hotel). My small hot vanilla latte was $7. Like I said - as a hotel lobby grab-and-go so you don't have to walk far or drive to get your latte-fix on, The Cupboard is right-there-convenient and will absolutely do just fine. If you DO feel like going off the property to go to an indie coffee shop, I drove to and tried the relatively new Grit Coffee in Midtown for the first time - pretty good (read my review and see my pics): Or go to the ever-famous Aromas in CW near the William&Mary campus, an OG legend which imo is overhyped but still a good option - parking can be a pain, frankly better to walk there from the hotel (it's prob a 20 min walk to Aromas but you walk straight down beautiful CW - on a nice day, can't beat that.).

The ambiance is like a dim lighted factory. It's connected to a few other eateries and brewery with restrooms in the lobby of all facilities. Ordered the pretzel bites with a beer cheese. These were good in the sense of being soft, chewy dough balls to dip in cheese. I don't believe they tasted like pretzels at all. They tasted more like the pizza dough, but still a good appetizer. Ordered a pepperoni pizza. Dough was fluffy and airy. It seemed a bit over proofed. The pepperoni overcrowded the top and made for a very greasy topping. Sauce is sweeter than my liking. The taste was similar to a commercial chain pizza so younger children tend to love that. Overall, an interesting setting. We left with full bellies and prices were reasonable.
