My best friend lives near here, so I ended up visiting multiple times during a recent visit to Seattle. Their coffee options hit the spot (I recommend the cardamom latte), and I was able to enjoy some of their "toasties" options, including the swiss-turkey (yum). There was some difficulty/craziness in placing my order one day, as the guy taking my order had to ask me to keep repeating items while he darted between making sandwiches and noting coffee orders. The location is cozy, if a bit cramped at times. While waiting for my breakfast order one morning, all the stools by the window area were taken up and a family with multiple kids came in to order. The kids were a bit hyperactive, and the small nature of the location made it a bit difficult for folks to maneuver around. The staff were patient and welcoming though, trying to get the order sorted. All in all though, I've enjoyed my experiences at Squirrel Chops. If/when I'm back in the area, I won't hesitate to drop by again for a coffee and another one of their toasties. :) read more

My husband and I came here while we stayed in Capitol Hill before our Alaskan cruise. We wanted to try an authentic Seattle coffeehouse and since this was in walking distance we took a morning stroll to see what it was all about. We were not disappointed! I ordered a vanilla latte with almond milk. It was probably one of the best ones I've ever had. My husband got an iced coffee. He liked it and decided to put sweetener in it but he said it tasted better without it. The service was great and the inside and outside were clean. We sat at a little table outside since it was a warm, sunny day and met a very nice local couple. This is a place I highly recommend and I would definitely come back again! read more

Good coffee. Fun location and store decor. Love the openness of the store and cute little work cubby in the back. Employees were nice and helpful. Seemed to know everyone in the area. Not somewhere you would come to intensely study or work. A lot going on in the area making it hard to focus or fun to people watch. Totally worth a return visit! read more

When you walk in you are greeted by the wonderful baristas. Dogs are welcome, which is an absolute plus in my book. We take our dog practically everywhere we go! I have had their lattes and cappuccinos, both ah-mazing. The place is small, but you don't feel claustrophobic - it's cozy. Few things I look for in a good coffee shop that squirrel chops provided: #1 Allowing my dog inside, 'cause whenever I work on my computer, I taker her and early mornings involve coffee and dog walks. #2 Creamy lattes - 'nuff said. #3 Chill music - there's nothing worse than going to a coffee shop and Metallica is playing. This city has a handful of perfect antidotes -- places that will put you just right -- Squirrel Chops is one of them. The coffee alone would be enough to cross town for, but the people/family behind the bar make this a cafe a daily must. Also - I wish I'd found Sharon's haircuts much earlier in life. Ordered an oat milk cappuccino from squirrel chops and they essentially gave me a latte. I was shocked when they served my drink in a 12 oz cup. I barely tasted the coffee (not even sure if they put espresso shots in my drink). Be warned, if you order a cappuccino at SC, make sure you ask for a traditional cappuccino so you don't get a latte. Honestly, I'm kind of shocked that I would even have to clarify the size of drink when ordering a cappuccino. This is what I get for not going to lighthouse roasters. read more

I enjoyed grabbing coffee here. The barista was busy but a grounded, calming presence - and she brewed up a solid lattee. I forgot the name of what I ordered, but it was well blended, had a nice flavor, and was just delicious. The space is small and cozy, with just a few small tables to chat and get some work done. It also shares space with a salon, which was not open the day, but I thought it was a cool shared space concept and look forward to returning! read more

Great coffee shop in the Central District. Super chill vibe with friendly staff and most importantly, great coffee. Two things I didn't love though: First the place is quite small with limited seating and hard, relatively uncomfortable chairs. Second, they allow dogs inside the place. Sitting in the front of the window of the small bar at Squirrel Chops, it's impossible not to feel productive; thanks to the steady stream of smooth jazz, the rush of a quality vanilla latte coursing through my veins (it doesn't take much to give me the jitters), and the seemingly ever-present scent of roasting ham that seems determined to wear me down. This little coffee shop sprung up amid the new "loft" construction in Central was a welcome find for someone looking to work for a few hours, though, space is rather limited. Be one of the lucky three people to get a table or consign yourself to the shared bar/outdoor seating as I did. Fair warning, you may be distracted by the fine people (read: dog) watching. probably the best coffee i have had in Seattle since living here. i've tried a variety of lattes from here and they are amazing every time! the baristas are super nice too!! it is a little on the pricier side but it is also 10x better than what you could get at a starbucks or other chain coffee shop so it's worth it. it's dangerous living so close to here because i would come everyday if i could afford that lol. highly recommend!!! read more

The finest lattes on the West Coast. I'm serious, out of every coffee shop we've tried from Seattle to San Diego, these are the best. So do yourself a favor and give it a try. The reubens too for that matter. They are serious about being good to their employees as well. Most businesses around here are partially shut down and trying to figure out how to make things work during the shelter-in-place orders around Covid-19. Squirrel Chops moved the register to a window to minimize staff exposure, helped customers queue with enough space between them, and directed all tips to the baristas who have reduced hours. read more

They get their breakfast tacos from someplace else and just warm them up, but hey I'm no hypocrite - that's why I'm here. A cute coffee shop placed in the middle of the Central District. A great location, but the coffee was okay. I ordered an almond milk latte and sadly the espresso shot tasted burnt. The almond milk itself was steamed to a perfect temp but the coffee was overall bad. I might've gotten a bad batch, but I don't know if I would come here again for the price of that latte :( read more

Easily the best place to go for coffee and cafe foods within a .5-1 mile radius, at least. I have no idea what beans they use but it does the trick. They make an incredible egg/cheese/croissant/meat of your choice sandwich with Macrina baked goods. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Last but not least, I haven't confirmed this but I think one of the requirements to work here is, great/unique/precision hair cuts. 10s across the board! Next steps: when the time is right, expand the food and pastry menu some more. read more

I had a friend that had a grand opening coming up soon. I never had been to his establishment and in order to ensure that I was going to be able to get there correctly the next day on the bus, I decided to find it the day prior. I must of caught him at the right time because he had shared with Me , that He was starting to feel hungry. I let him take the lead on this one because, well We were in His territory per say. That's when He took Us over to Squirrel Chops! We ended up both getting the turkey and cheese Panini sandwiches. I asked if it wasn't too much to change my cheese to provolone from swiss. The Lady that was assisting us said "sure no problem" mind you I had already asked for a beverage as well. When I looked around all I seen was coffee products listed on the board. It was too late in the day for Myself and I know I didn't want any parts of that. So I asked her "if she had anything more fruity??" Right there on the spot We were able to come up with a citrus drink of some sort and it was amazing. I said all that to say this... if you are looking for good eats, good treats, and EXCELLENT customer service, welp S.C is the place to be! The Lady was sooo groovy with her customer service from arrival to departure, I just had to know her name. She informed Me it was SHIRLEY!! I couldn't thank Shirley enough and told her if time willing, I shall return one of these days! There were some other ladies floating around, I didn't get their names, but they felt like they had a warmth about them too, so I am sure that if you go get assistance from ANY one of them, ya experience will be grand. oh not to mention, even though I was treated, the prices are great too! Wow. I make a point of searching out the good espresso joints in every city I go to. This is one of the better/best espresso drinks I've had in a while. I ordered the Gibraltar (think Cortado) with half n half (because once you go breve you never go back ) and a chocolate chip cookie. This place had a fun atmosphere! My dirty chai was standard. I worked remotely here for an afternoon with my laptop. They allowed dogs, which is always a hugh plus for me. A couple points of improvement: 1. I sat outside at the table around the corner. I'm not sure if it's common, but there were people yelling and a couple times they came up to us to ask for money. Perhaps a separating barrier to at least block some of the noise would help? 2. There was no WiFi, so I and everyone around me with laptops used their phones to tether. read more

I tried their classic matcha latte with Hanami flavor profile. It was smooth and you could tell it was made with good quality matcha. My partner tried their Matcha Einspanner, which was definitely sweeter and was so delicious when the foam mixed in. Next time, I would love to get the opportunity to try their famous banana matcha and maybe give some of their coffee a try!

The aioli was sooooo yum we scrape every bits of it lolllll. I'd honestly come back just for this dish alone. xoi chay $15- Really good breakfast option. The sticky rice was soft and chewy, and all of the toppings came together really well. Easily my new favorite spot. I get why it's so popular on social media, and I'll definitely keep coming back whenever I'm in Seattle for sure!!

I took a chance with the seasonal latte even though I don't typically like floral tastes and really enjoyed it! Also grabbed a bag of beans as a gift. Latte isn't cheap, but pretty standard price. Staff was also very friendly despite the line (which moved quickly).

I ended up coming back and getting it again but with extra Matcha foam for additional Matcha flavor. Absolutely loved this drink. I also got a Matcha latte with black sesame cold foam. I've had a black sesame Matcha from somewhere else before, and the sesame flavor was very light, so that was what I was expecting, but was met with a very strong sesame flavor. I was not a huge fan as it felt overpowering and I couldn't taste the matcha. However, this is just a personal preference thing and if you like black sesame you should definitely try it! I'm not sure what much they used, but it didn't taste like the best quality, but it is still delicious and their drinks are all fun . The inside is small but and warm and cozy and they do have some seating. I was always able to find a spot. Super cute place with very sweet baristas.

Plenty of seating and places to work if you want to work there and they also sell pastries and take home items like beans, mugs, espresso cups etc. Definitely worth a visit if you are local in the Seattle area or visiting. Parking on broadway is a bit hit or miss but you can usually find a spot either on the main street or a nearby side street.

It made the experience feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. As a local, I expect better consistency and customer care. For some reason, you get a much better experience both in service and quality at Victrola on 3rd & Pine in Capitol Hill & Pike. At this point, I don't plan on coming back to this location.
