Was pleasantly surprised to get some free chips and dip which was decent. Some of the chips were undersalted or a bit grainy/sandy tasting but the salsa was decent. Tacos Barbacoa (4.5/5): Their best taco for sure. Very tender pieces of shredded meat, not too fatty but still very flavorful. Reminiscent of the cabeza taco at la jaliciense. Tacos Lengua (4/5): Good amount of lengua pieces that are also pretty tender and tasty. All their tacos are salty enough, and I liked how the lengua pieces were cubed into smaller pieces than other spots. Beef queso dip (4/5): Rich queso with ground beef mixed within, a decent appetizer for sure and would recommend ordering this. Tacos Tripas (2.5/5): I asked before ordering if they would be pretty crispy as this is how I enjoyed Tripas in Mexico city, San Antonio, etc. and they confirmed it would be. When I received it, very few pieces were crispy and many of them were oily/soggy. Some tasted slightly burnt. Although the portion of meat was very generous, I felt the quality could have been higher. Gordita Pastor (3/5): The tacos pastor also had decent portions and was well seasoned, but the issue was that it lacked tenderness and was pretty firm. The jamaica was a bit too sweet. They provide beans if you order 3 tacos but will increase the costs to accommodate this, I would request no beans and just order the tacos a la carte in the future. Overall, it is still an authentic Mexican spot in North Augusta and pricing is fair, but I prefer La Jaliciense by a fair margin for the variety and quality of meat within the tacos.

The fajitas were packed with flavor, and the margarita had the perfect balance of sweet and tangy with a little kick from the chamoy. I will say that this time, the fajitas weren't sizzling when they arrived at the table. They were warm but not hot, which was a little surprising (and yes, I know the water-on-the-skillet trick). I ordered an assortment of tacos and the elote (spicy). Carnita (4/5): Like most carnitas in the states, the carnita taco here is made with what tastes like a leaner meat, likely pork shoulder. Although lean and shredded, it retained a good amount of moisture and juiciness almost like it was brined for a long period of time. It was one of the better carnitas I've had and would order again, well filled. Chorizo (4/5): All of their tacos have a good amount of meat inside of them. The chorizo was well seasoned with a slight kick, just a touch salty. The pork had a nice charred flavor and was great with lime. Quesabirria (5/5): If la jaliciense has their cabeza taco being their best bite in my opinion, Taqueria Las Ruthis has the quesabirria. It has a generous portion of shreded beef that is very tender, well seasoned, and like the carnitas is super juicy even without being dipped in the consomé. There is a ton of cheese that like its tortilla is lightly charred for a nice texture. The consomé is warm and this is the perfect taco to order as it gets colder in Augusta. Asada (3.5/5): The carne asada taco was not as impressive as the others I had tried mostly due to taste and texture. It was not very tender at all and did not taste smoky or grilled compared to asada that I have had at other food trucks/Mexican spots. I enjoyed the grilled onions it comes with and again decent portions of meat within. Spicy Elote (3.5/5): Was a nice find to have elote again with the last time I had it being in San Antonio and Laredo, Texas. When I think of the great elote I have had in the past, I think of very heavy butter and crumbly cheese with sometimes having a cream or mayo within. This one had a decent portion of cheese but much less butter or cream/mayo than others. The spicy powder (tajin) was a bit excessive and I would order regular or hot cheeto in the future. Prices are fair at around $3.25-4 per taco and the service is fast. It comes with a green and red salsa that are both great and a few wedges of lime. I will definitely return to this spot when I want a changeup from La Jaliciense.

They have chips and salsa, both delicious, and a lengthy menu similar to other Mexican restaurants. The enchiladas were tasty, nothing spectacular but I'd definitely recommend them if you're in the mood for enchiladas. We also ordered a tamale just to try it out and it was different than others I've had but still good! The rice that came on the side of the enchiladas wasn't my favorite- just had an off flavor that I think means it's more authentic and my taste buds just aren't used to it but it wasn't bad, per se, just different. The restaurant itself was clean and spacious, they have lots of seating that looks like it'd work well for larger groups.
