As a family of 4 with 2 full-time working parents and 2 babies under two, Celestial Solar's support was nothing short of amazing for us. Jim and team are a good mix of professional and knowledgeable, and have been (and still are) genuinely nice to me and my family. They understand the complex nature of adding solar panels to your home and provide accurate estimates, recommend the best tech for your situation, walk you through the entire process, and have an awesome installation team who were efficient and installed everything without any hiccups. The extra support they also provide by completing permit paper work and communication on your behalf, mixed with the professional, yet fun, installation workers that my kids really liked, made this experience great for me and my family. We are now a few months into running our system and we have been overproducing energy, while Jim and team still keep in contact to make sure that everything is running smoothly.

Gave us honest opinions on panel quality, recommendations, and laid out work expectations given their experiences working with the utilities. Installation was completed across 2 days due to the # of panels, they were very courteous, prompt, and efficient in getting the work done. We didn't have to hound Pepco or do anything additional, Jim handled it all for us. Our production for March 2026 was 1.3 MWh, electric bill was $8.94 (for cost of connecting to the grid). If you are considering solar, definitely give Celestial a call!

Megan from Sky NRG provided a detailed quote and patiently answered my many questions about the different REC panels on the market. I ultimately chose Sky NRG based on my interaction with her and positive reviews on Google and Reddit. I also preferred a local installer in Northern Virginia, and Sky NRG fit that requirement perfectly. We signed the contract on July 26, and the panels were installed on September 10. Megan handled the HOA permissions, and the installation was completed ahead of schedule when Sky NRG found an opening that suited me. Juan and his team managed the installation with careful attention to the aesthetics of the panel placement. Robert, Sky NRG's CEO, was present during the installation, underscoring their commitment to customer satisfaction. We discovered issues with my existing electrical panel during the process, and Robert recommended replacing it. Based on the quality of work by Juan and the overall experience with Sky NRG, I opted to have them handle the panel replacement rather than seeking other bids. Juan completed the job, and I'm pleased with the result. We received Permission To Operate (PTO) from Dominion Energy on October 28, and since then, we've been consistently exporting energy to the grid. I'm delighted with Sky NRG. They never tried to upsell, were always responsive to my questions, and offered a competitive price lower than other bids. Megan and Robert continue to stay involved, and I am confident about their prompt attention to address any future issues. Highly recommended!

However, the service warrantee expired and the servicer, Omnidian, would not service even though I offered to pay for it. After searching for a solar provider that would actually do repairs and not have ridiculous pricing (one provider wanted to charge a $500 "truck usage" fee, in addition to an hourly rate), I found Revolution Solar who offered a fair and reasonable hourly, I first spoke with Irvin in Sales who immediately connected me with Brian in Operations. Brian arranged for Jose to come out to do the repair. Jose was on time and courteous. Unfortunately, the microinverter manufacturer sent the wrong cable, so the microinverters could not be replaced that day. Jose ordered a replacement cables for me. When they arrived, Jose came back out, again on time, and replaced the microinverters in about an hour. I cannot recommend Revolution Solar enough. When I buy my next house, I will call Revolution Solar directly to arrange for solar panel installation.

Worst of all though, is a safety hazard they created that we didn't recognize til winter. One of the sets of panels is set up above our front door. After a heavy snowfall, as the snow starts to melt, the snow on the solar panels falls in a single avalanche right over our front steps. It took down the gutter this year, and I'm terrified that if one of our kids or my elderly MIL (who lives with us) happens to be under that spot when the snow goes, it could cause a serious injury. Of course we called the company, but it took several calls to get to a supervisor. They won't take responsibility for their poor design, and offered to sell us a guard to redirect the fall of the snow. I wish we'd picked another company.

Also they said I needed a new roof and the $4,000 would be financed through their companion company called Goodleap for 20 years. Recently found out the $100.00 monthly for the roof is only the interest payment and at the end of the 20 years I will still owe $4,000.00 plus more ibterest. I was very specific about how I wanted my 10 KW system designed--both in scope and budget. I also wanted to work with an installer who was deeply familiar with the incentives available in my area. That criterion alone narrowed down the list significantly. When I began reaching out to various companies, I quickly discovered a frustrating trend: many solar installers were locked into a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach and were unable (or unwilling) to work outside of a limited system design. My project required string inverter build, which further complicated the search. Another challenge I encountered was a general lack of knowledge among some companies' sales teams. Many couldn't confidently discuss critical elements like system components or even the federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC), which is currently in the phase-out period--making it even more urgent for homeowners to act now. After speaking with many companies, I had the good fortune of connecting with Ms. Elena Zenke, owner of Bee Happy Solar. From our first conversation, I knew she was different. She was knowledgeable, flexible, and respectful of both my timeline and payment preferences. She welcomed my involvement in the design process, listened to my needs, and collaborated with me to ensure the system met my vision. Bee Happy Solar is the only company I know of that offers both string inverter and micro inverter solutions, which speaks to their technical versatility. A few months after my installation, I upgraded my home modem and lost connection to my inverter's monitoring system. Elena personally came back to my home and assisted with a support call to the micro inverter manufacturer until the issue was resolved. That level of post-installation service truly solidified my trust in her and her company. The installation crew was professional, efficient, and meticulous in their work. One of the installers even helped me resolve a minor issue with my skylight--completely unrelated to the solar project--and did so at no charge. That act of generosity did not go unnoticed. Post-installation, Ms. Zenke continued to go above and beyond. She assisted in completing additional paperwork for incentives such as the Baltimore County Property Tax Credit and the Maryland Solar Access Grant. In summary, Bee Happy Solar exceeded my expectations at every stage--design, installation, follow-up, and incentive processing. I would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone considering solar, especially if you're looking for a customized approach backed by exceptional service and expertise.

This week a different crew came to replace some insulation and to install a "critter guard" to keep animals out from under our panels. When they left, the price of the work was more than 40% higher than what was in the written, itemized estimate. I spoke with Joel, the owner. He told me that the cost of a both the service call and labor had increased, but no explanation was provided for the failure to update the quote. The main increase in the invoice came from the labor time, which was nearly twice what was originally quoted. I asked if the crew was inexperienced so it took them longer, and he told me that he had sent an experienced team who knew what they were doing. They had called him during the work, however, to report that they were slipping on the roofing shingles, so it took nearly twice the usual time to finish the job. They had even tried to use some kind of a safety harness, but it failed to solve the problem. I told Joel that it would have been appropriate for the workers to tell the client that they were not feeling safe on the roof before the work was begun. I never would have allowed anyone to continue working on a roof they claimed was dangerous. Joel then told me this was an inexperienced crew who were unable to assess conditions on the roof until they were well into the job, and at that point, they couldn't really stop working. In sum, I was told that the crew was experienced enough to work efficiently, but they took four hours to complete the job. I was then told they were so inexperienced that they spent those four hours slipping and sliding around on our roof, but we heard no sounds of this inside the house, and nobody informed us there was a problem until it was time to pay. I was told that American Solar decided, without informing us, the homeowners, that they would continue installing materials on a roof that their workers had reported was unsafe. Even setting aside the contradictory statements, we find it difficult to believe that an established company would disregard both safety and liability in this manner. No offer was made to honor the quoted pricing. No offer was made to honor the quoted labor cost. I was simply thanked for my "feedback" and told that "this is why it's called an estimate." We were charged $1200 for 30 feet of insulation and wire guards to keep squirrels from nesting under two solar panels. We paid the invoice in full, an expensive lesson learned. We will use another company for any future needs.
