Originally I wanted to go to Harry's, but the line to check in was down the block and I was too hungry for that so we walked on. Then I said ohhh I want Prohibition Kitchen, but that was a 2 hour wait and did I say I was hungry? So we kept on walking. And we walked and walked, but nothing sounded good. Then I saw St. Augustine Seafood company So we asked how long the wait was and the hostess said no wait! Yay!! I was starving so I was so happy and I'm sure my husband was even happier because I'm a mean hungry person. Lol We sat down and immediately I noticed how cute it was sitting outside. The tables and the lights, it was just so nice! The bathrooms were down a little walkway and I was nervous thinking it might be gross since it reminded me of an outdoor shed but when I opened the door I was surprised to see it was spacious and very clean! We ordered the raw oysters to start and then I got the shrimp po'boy and my husband got the anchor burger. The oysters were phenomenal!! They came with a citrus mignonette that was so good! My husband devoured his burger! He loved the Datil Buffalo sauce and the combination of burger and fried shrimp. My po'boy was also delicious!! The service was fantastic! The prices were really good! My sandwich was $12 and it was stuffed with shrimp! And his burger was $14 and it was huge!! Since our first trip here we've already gone back for po'boys lol They were really that good!!! read more

I really love good food and I think my taste buds are wise beyond their years (if I do say so myself). Although we were starving, we stumbled into this place and it must have been fate because this wasn't just a satisfy-hunger-good kinda place. This place has me thinking about it two weeks after exiting it's sweet doors. We shared the shrimp po'boy and conk fritters and I'm pretty sure I miss them every day. The conk fritters are fat, deep fried balls of batter-y goodness with chunks of conk love. They had me at hello. Then came the po'boy and I thought I'd never leave. A great counter seafood place while walking around this old town. It's clean and inviting inside. The items are reasonable priced and you get a good portion. We got chowder, conch app, a fish burrito and fried shrimp. Let me tell you, the chowder gave me all the feels. It was really thick and rich and I got bites of clams. Its literally gave me vague reminders of when I had chowder at Shell (the restaurant). Yeah yeah...I know...not like some small shop up in boston or whatever but that was all I got to base good chowder to me is. The rest of the stuff were decent. We ducked in this restaurant right before a downpour and we were glad we did. Took awhile for the hostess to seat us. She was not as professional as our server who was great. We especially liked the clam chowder served nice and hot. When I took a look at the menu, I saw multiple bowls/salads that featured shrimp on top. I choose the avocado rice bowl and my friend choose the ceasar salad Upon looking at the food when it came, there wasn't any shrimp! A closer look at the menu confirmed my suspicions-it wasn't just a mistake, the bowls appeared to have shrimp when they didn't! Disapointing. I'm a local and don't go downtown very often but last week we had company in town and took them to St George Street. Surprisingly fantastic! Super fresh fish and shrimp! We tried the blackened fish basket and blackened shrimp on the Florida Citrus salad and it was insanely good! There's 2 sides to the restaurant. One side is a counter service and the other side (Sign says Taberna) is a dining experience with servers. We chose to sit inside where there's a/c Super quaint and lovely. Our server, Beth was super friendly and very attentive, definitely went over and beyond. I mentioned that I love sauces so she brought us a saucer of assorted sauces. A quick scan of the menu and we agreed that this was the place to try. This is a typical counter seafood restaurant. Big menu up on the board with regular choices. On this occasion, we opted to share fried oysters and fried shrimp. The oysters were tasty. The shrimp we nice and plump. Both orders came with fries and a choice of a sauce. Wishing I found this place sooner!! My daughter had what looked and what she confirmed was a perfect hamburger. It had fried shrimp on it that she ordered on the aide so I could eat them and I'm very appreciative that she did because they were fabulous, especially when I dipped them in their remoulade sauce--delectable. The shrimp had the perfect amount of breading and were perfectly fried. I had the "Catch of the Day", which in this day and age is too often a misnomer, but in this case was a fact. There was even a chalkboard stating the actual boat that the fish was caught on! That day the catch was redfish, cooked to your liking and served on a bed of red rice and topped with a light, creamy, fresh, homemade slaw and spiced cashews. It was a perfect mix between sweet and spicy flavors. I had my fish blackened and again, it was cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere and the owner(?)/employees were beyond friendly and helpful. They take customer and staff safety seriously. Masks, temp checks, staff wear gloves, plexiglass barricades at cash register, no communal items (salt and pepper, sauces, napkins, etc), and social distancing enforced. That being said we ordered the burger and the fresh catch basket, grilled. You have an option of grilled, fried or blackened. The fish was super oily, I mean I had to take a napkin to get some of oil off as it was drowning in it. Otherwise everything tasted good, it wasn't anything special definitely nothing to write home about. Given all the good reviews I expected more from here? I think I hyped it up in my mind. However, for the price it was fair. They only had 2 tables for outdooor dining that were covered from the light rain. Generous portions, including fries, and everything was accompanied by our choice of sauces. The sauces were so good, hard to pick just one. Great beer selection, too!
