We were seated on the patio and our very sweet server was right out to take our drink order. Since we are eating Poutine all over Canada in search of our favorite. We so enjoyed sitting on the patio, it was a beautiful day, we were people watching and enjoying the umbrellas place up the alley. Our poutine was delivered to the table and I can honestly say it was our favorite. The fries were crunch and creamy on the inside. The gravy was rich and had a deep flavor and the cheese curds had lightly melted. Every bite was perfect. The eatery and bar are tucked into a stone house that dates back to 1668, if only the walls could talk. The bar and restaurant feature local Quebec cuisine and is a gem. The service was excellent as was the atmosphere.

We had 9 people and they sat 5 at a table and 4 at the bar and we were completely fine with the arrangement. It is quaint and small and we could see our family and even shared some food since we Were close enough. The cheese fondue is not to be missed . It was absolutely the perfect start to our meal. Then we shared an original poutine and it also was delicious- best I had on our trip thus far! I ordered mussels for my meal and a steaming pot arrived and they were yummy. Ambiance and service were great. They accommodated our awful French attempts. Drinks were large. Honestly, I feel lucky to have dined here. Everything was wonderful!

Service was good, outdoor seating to watch all the tourists walk by. I had Penne pasta with duck confit. It was ok, not thrilled with the duck, it was greasy (yeah I know duck can be greasy but I've had it before better prepared and it wasn't greasy). My friends were kind of ho-hum on their food too (don't remember what they had). Not a great restaurant but fine if you're hungry and every place else is packed.

The servers here seem to work in tandem helping out wherever needed so we had two different people waiting on us throughout our meal which was cool! To start off with drinks we ordered a limoncello spritz and a fruitatto spritz. The fruit one was by far my favorite, but I'd also dangerous because you could drink them all day like water lol. The limoncello was delicious as well, just be mindful if you're not a limoncello person or have had it before that it'll be a strong flavor when you sip it! For our food we shared the Parmesan truffle fries as an appetizer, the Spag pollo (pasta with chicken, tomatoes, and veggies), and the 1608 flatbread (bechamel sauce, mushrooms, bacon, 1608 cheese, rosemary). Everything we had was so delicious & I even drizzled some spicy oil on top of the pizza which really elevated the flavor! If you're ever visiting Quebec City you have to check this place out!

I wasn't too hungry so I ordered an app for my entree, the bruschetta. It came loaded with seasoned tomato pieces. Hubby ordered the pasta with clams in a spicy sauce. There was a misunderstanding with his meal. When hubby asked questions about the carbonara, our server thought he ordered the carbonara when he actually decided on the pasta with clams. When the wrong meal was brought over, our server escalated to his manager who then offered to exchange his meal. They kept apologizing for the mixup but honestly, they already handled it well by replacing it without issues. The pasta dish was so good! I scooped the extra sauce with my crostini and really enjoyed it. The clams were meaty and fresh too. Daughter ordered the pasta with meat sauce- also very good. This small restaurant has tables pretty close together and is part of a hotel. If anything needs to be improved, it's the ventilation. Afterwards, our clothes had heavy food scents!

The steak could have been a bit more rare, but that is just a personal preference. The seafood pasta was delicious and the cheese was also very tasty. We decided to try our luck at Portofino, which had some great reviews. We were told the wait would be an hour or more--and almost exactly an hour later, our table opened up. Totally worth the wait! The whole family loves Italian food, and Portofino delivered. We started with Caprese and bruschetta, followed by cacio e pepe, arrabbiata, eggplant Parmesan, and pizza. Everything was delicious, and the staff was happy to adjust a couple of dishes to our liking. One thing we didn't know before arriving: there was live music! We ended up with a table right next to the duo performing. It was actually a lot of fun singing along to some good old classics. If you're looking for a quiet, romantic dinner, though, this may not be your place--but for a lively family evening, it was perfect! And since we had a birthday in the group, the staff surprised us with cannoli mousse, crème and ice cream. A huge shout-out to Steve, who was absolutely awesome! He was attentive, friendly, and genuinely made our evening special. And kudos to Steve and the chef for serving up some seriously finger-licking-good food! We'll definitely be back. Next time, though, we're making a reservation!
