I had heard about this location but couldn't of never rearrange my schedule enough to attend. However, I was invited to attend Mark Nelson's; The Acoustic Intimacy on Sunday. It is located in the Camp Creek area of the new South Fulton area of town. Well, I must say I regret not visiting St. James sooner! This place is awesome! Everything is different then the average "live experience" in Atlanta. Upon entry, you will pay your entry fee (club like) before entering the main floor. Then, you are led through an intimate low lit short hallway through beautiful, large crafted doors. Inside, seating is situated so that no location is a bad view and you can see the stage without issue. They offer VIP seating in front of the stage (comfy couch seating). We were greeted by our waiter about 5 minute after being seated with a menu and drink options (prompt & friendly service). Tip: They offer dinner package options with your ticket purchase on line. I ordered fries & vegetable rolls as there weren't any other vegan or vegetarian options. The vibe was fabulous and the live band was absolutely incredible. The music was fantastic! The SERVICE not so much! My personal experience as a first time guest, I would rate as one out of five. I was not familiar with the menu and after having a short discussion with our server about the Pasta Alfredo dish, which is what I ordered add "lamb" for two dollars more, to my surprise I was charged for the lamb dinner which was substantially more than the pasta! After pointing this out she did not offer any apology or empathy but proceeded to a MANAGER (I am only guessing because she did not introduce herself to me). She (Manager) started off very aggressively and again offered no apology or any empathy for her servers mistake and did not take into consideration of "what" I ordered. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with these dishes, I was served in dim lighting, saw lamb over pasta and when I received this pasta with lamb was unaware it was the "dinner". Again, I was not pleased with the lack of professionalism and the confrontational attitude received for a mistake I did not make. Again the entertainment was awesome but unfortunately the service was lacking and the Management needs more training on how to handle customers who want to patronize black establishments. I would not recommend coming for the food or service as both were unsatisfactory. Extremely disappointed and frustrated with how the entire situation was handled and I don't plan on returning. Also the actual server was slow physically and mentally for playing "dumb" and "forgetful" and could have nipped it in the bud had she been accountable for HER mistake. Went here for my birthday because I had heard that it was good for "grown folks". We were very happy with the experience. Great food. The roasted chicken was very tender and flavorful, and the mac and cheese (we are true Southern mac and cheese snobs) was certainly up to our standards... but the star of my meal was those collard greens! You just gotta try them. Excellent smoked turkey flavor. Great drinks. The size and strength of the adult beverages was well worth the price. They will have you "feelin' right"... ;-) Great music. Pros: The location is great. The inside is beautiful. It is nice and spacious. The restrooms were clean and spacious as well. This jazz club has space and free parking which is refreshing after going out in town. The waitresses and management were very attentive. The music was fabulous. It has a relaxed jazzy feel, but we did get up and dance a little on the upper level. The food was great. We loved the drinks too. This is a stellar performance venue. The service is above par and the entertainment is excellent. It is also a very nice atmosphere and visually appealing environment. Enjoyed the drinks, but the food left much to be desired. It's tapas and gives the vibe of premade frozen foods that are scantly arranged. Not at all worth the price. Definitely go for the entertainment and drinks, but don't be hungry. We had the $18 Sampler that consisted of 1 fried green tomato, 1 bitesize egg roll cut in half, 2 extremely small chicken drumettes with a poor presentation. Also, had a $7 shrimp skewer consisting of 3 small shrimp which wasn't bad. The menu offering differed from what is posted on the website. Only tapas were offered. Again, go for the show. This was a surprise date night outing, and we had so much fun! It's in an unassuming area near Camp Creek, and when we got inside, the check-I'm was pretty quick. Our table was dead center, facing the stage on the ground floor. I felt like the portion sizes were a bit small, but we were able to share it. My favorite was the macaroni and cheese--it was AMAZING! Very tasty. The drinks were interesting. I ordered a margarita, but it had a coconut taste. Very weird for a margarita drink to taste like a piña colada! I got punch after that, because I couldn't get with that awkward taste of the margarita lol. The best part of the whole night was the PHENOMENAL music!! The Jazz was so well done, and played a variety of songs. The showmanship of the lead saxophone player was so entertaining! This well-appointed club is laid out nicely and spaced perfectly so that patrons could enjoy their table with 6 feet of space between them. All of the wait staff wore masks consistently. The DJ, who played before and after the live performance, advised all the patrons to wear their mask when they left the table; and "sanitation" stations were located throughout the club. They feature live music with food and drinks. The drinks averaged about $13, and had a kick. For me one drink was sufficient - and that was good. Water was only available in a $3 glass bottle, which appeared smaller than the regular 16 ounce plastic water bottles you usually get for $1. I didn't begrudge that, they have to make money. And the glass bottle was nicer than the everyday plastic bottles. And you could take it with you to reuse later, which I thought made up for the cost. The food was absolutely delicious. Well prepared and served in small to normal portions, by courteous , professional and prompt wait staff. By the way they add gratuity automatically - which I don't mind because I didn't find it excessive, and the servers were great. The musician was great and the band was awesome. Sound system was great. However, the show was scheduled to start at seven. And it actually started around 7:20. That would have been okay if the show was extended to 8:20 or longer, but it wasn't. At 8:00, lights up, everyone was dismissed. I had to rush down my drink I didn't have a chance to finish! I paid $20 for my seat (no complaint) , $50 for my drink and dinner,(still no complaint) plus water. A total of $70 for a 45 minute show! I was okay with everything until that happened. I've never paid for a performance that was less than two hours. I felt cheated. If the show were at least 2 hours I would've given them 5+ stars. I've been to many early shows and have NEVER experienced a one-hour performance. So beware! Also, maybe the 10p second show is longer? Cost the same, so prob not! Too bad. If I ever do go back I will get A drink (as in (1) - with no food! That's it. Then the $$$ will match the 45 minute experience. I can go eat somewhere else after I leave. This venue has potential. Huge venue, lots of parking, and good seating config, but: 1. The show we attended before NYE week was short! The woman who sang spent 20 plus minutes speaking to the crowd and a recently engaged couple with acoustic music in the background. We the patrons (EVERYONE that was not an employee) PAID to go see this show and did not get a full hour of music 2. Can you have someone local bake your desserts? I mean, for what you charge... 3. Get better alcohol brands. The bourbon choices and the wine choices were not that great. read more

Miller & his M3 Lounge. Never disappoints. SJL sits in a plaza & parking is limited so if you get there early { Try to arrive about 45 mins before doors open. Doors open @ 6pm } you should be fine on parking. I had the Fish Tacos & I loved it! An 18% gratuity is added to all checks but if you read the bottom of the menu you won't be surprised by that. We have been to St James Live many times over the last five years. We attend every New Year's Eve. I love the music and the design of the venue. The bathrooms are spotless. However, it seems they are losing their mojo. The servers are less caring towards customers. We had to stop them from flying by to get service - revenue lost. The NYE amenities have been less and less each year. Food was skimpy and no one encouraged us to order from the menu. I would have preferred to pay more to have a better experience. According to him there was only five seats available which in my opinion run just fine. The barscene is situated to the right of the stage and I feel that we had ample room to sit and dance as well as see the performers perfectly. Entered and was given a table where we sat for an hour and a half then a waitress came and told us we were given someone else's seats... it was not when we were escorted there. Great night out!!! We saw Gritz and Jelly butter band they were amazing and had a great mix of all music!!!! The facility was nice and the server we had was amazing. We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary so we're happy to find a nice location with a good vibe. The drinks were priced fair and the food we ordered was good and came quickly. All of the seats were good, we sat at table R2 i sat on the right and had a great view my husband said the pole on his side someone blocked the view but it was nothing that took away from the show. This was our 1st time to St. James Live. We attended a 7pm show with some friends. The band was GREAT, playing many old school RnB greats. The menu was not huge, but there were some good options to choose from, including some appetizers that were big enough for an entree. I ordered the wings and fries (no substitutions for the fries, but you can add an additional side). No thanks to that. The wings were OK/good and I would order again. I prefer mine a little more done and crispy, but maybe it is just the way they prepare them. They have a full bar with many specialty drinks. The beer selection was pretty generic with about 8-10 of the usual suspects, no local craft options. One hazy IPA would have been nice. The inside ambiance is great with a couple of levels of seating. Not a bad seat in the house! They even have some room for impromptu dancing, if the feeling hits you. One tip, get there early to secure a parking spot. As it gets closer to show time, the spots become pretty sparse. Luckily we got one of the last few spots. Fyi, the parking is free. I wish had read the other reviews before deciding on this place for my mom's birthday. What the reviews say are TRUE (great music; poor service). Two stars only bc the live music is GREAT! We don't have enough places for good live music in Atlanta. If you want an idea for a date night, this place would work. It would be an overpriced date but something besides dinner and a movie. (Look closely the positive reviews are from 3 years ago....) Everything else is 1 or zero stars. The concept is a good one but the execution by the owner/management is AWFUL!!!!! I choose St James Live to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday based on a recommendation. I have never heard of this place before. It's outside the city near the airport. First of all, you have to buy tickets bc the owner considers it a "concert venue" when in reality it's just a restaurant with live music. Ok fine so I buy 14 tickets for my group. There is NO group rate. The only group option is to reserve the entire venue or one of two private spaces that do NOT allow for you to SEE the show; you pay extra and get to watch from monitors. Here's a listing of the things that went WRONG: 1. "doors open at 6 show starts at 7" - show didn't start until 745. I'm thinking the delay is due to the fact that this place is EMPTY at 7; not even half full (I will determine by the end of the night it's bc of poor management and service). 2. "no water service" - they only serve bottled water at $3.50 per bottle which is a SMALL bottle PLUS automatic 18% gratuity that's listed as a service change so if you aren't paying attention you may add more to your bill when it comes out. 3. "restaurant prices with bar portions and presentation" - you are charged for menu items at restaurant prices but it's served like you're at a bar. Yes, your food comes out in plastic baskets with paper liners. Or if you're lucky enough to get food on a plate, its a small appetizer plate although you paid a dinner menu price. I will say the food does taste good but don't come hungry unless you want to spend a ton of money. 4. "no outside food or drinks" - I get it...it's a "concert venue" that serves food, drinks and desserts so you don't want outside food (It's not the GREAT Chastain Park or Wolfcreek). Although I spoke to someone prior to my arrival and was told I could bring in cupcakes, on the day of the show, I was told sternly and sharply "no outside food". However, you would think there could be some exception or accommodation could be made considering 14 seats were purchased to celebrate a birthday. Rather than stick to a "policy" and frustrate 14 customers who will not return AND encourage others not to patronize, you would think the owner, who was there would offer a customer friendly solution (free dessert for birthday girl, bring in one or two cupcakes, bring in the cupcakes after the show, anything other than a hard "NO"). 5. "18% service charge" - the gratuity is automatically added to your bill. Although, you will be jumping through hoops to get a server to your table. The server will come EVENTUALLY but then you will wait AGAIN for the next EVENTUALLY for your ordered item(s) to arrive. The music artists are the ONLY thing keeping this place open. I will be surprised if St James Live is still open in 6 months. The owner/manager has zero customer service skills. Look closely the positive reviews are from 3 years ago.... read more

I was invited to see a tribute to the great Chaka Khan at St. James Live. They opened the doors a little after 6 and after having our tickets scanned, we were shown to our seats. We did wear our masks but were able to remove them after sitting at our table. The staff were all wearing masks. It is a really nice sized venue, intimate is the word I will use. It does have seating upstairs that looks down at the stage. They have a full menu. I ordered the lamb chops with macaroni & cheese and string beans. Everything was really tasty but the mac & cheese was a tad bit oily. Our server brought us forks but no knives. When we requested them in order to eat our lamb chops, she apologized and brought us plastic knives. That was really unacceptable and my friend, who had been there before on several occasions, stated she always orders the lamb and was never given plastic wear to eat it with. We finally saw another server to ask and she brought us real steak knives. Before the show started, I went to the restroom and to my surprise, the backup singers were using the bathroom as their dressing room! I REALLY felt bad for them because they are in there, trying to get their sound correct and get stage ready before going on stage and they are doing it with toilets flushing. I really think management should find a space for the performers to do their preparations separate and apart from customer restrooms. I think it is a sign of disrespect toward the performers.
