I will have to say I have been going here for years! And I don't like to overdose my animals on vaccinations, this clinic pushes all vaccinations! They completely overdue it. Recently I had enough! I put my foot down the doses of flea medication. When the lowest dose would work (I have large breed dogs so they wanted me to buy 2 separate packages) and they were very disrespectful, rude and condescending. I used to work as a vet tech so I know what I am talking about. I am also a nurse. That's okay I am sure another veterinary in town will take my 6 animals. read more

My dog was bit on the face while I was in town for the weekend. Called first thing in the morning and they were able to fit me in between other appointments. (It wasn't so serious he needed the ER vet but definitely needed to be seen). Staff & doctor was friendly; eye stain, antibiotics and we were in/out within 45minutes. They even came to the room to check out as strangers in the lobby make my dog very nervous. Exam fee was a bit higher than I was expecting but maybe because we were new or a semi-emergency? Overall prices for the medications were reasonable. read more

I got my dog from a shelter one year ago. And from the start, all her needs were met by St. Johns Vet Clinic. They gave her shots. They helped us with a sprained paw. They have boarding, with a VIP room that is super cute. They have full pampered poochie spa treatments. They have training classes that are equal parts fun and school. AND they have a summer play camp, where you can drop your dog off in the morning to play all day with other dogs. There's sprinklers, pools, tug o war, squirrel watching, music appreciation and photoshoots! I love this place and my dog really benefits from all their services. I've met almost all the vets and staff, and they pretty much all have met my dog. P.S. They are budget friendly. So go here if you love your pet as much as she loves you. read more

Went in with a list of symptoms and they put it all on behavioral issues. Found out later she had cushings disease and I had listed about every symptom for them. Spent about 500$ for a mis-diagnosis that affected my dogs health greatly. read more

My boyfriend and I have been bringing our pets here for a long time and we love them. Everyone is always so friendly and we are super comfortable leaving our pets there while we board. Our dogs see all of the doctors and they have always been nice and sweet to our pets. When we came in for one of our dogs being sick, they were focused even though they were packed and they were "no nonsense" about making sure my dog got better. they even called afterwards to check on him. We put our youngest dog in their daycare for dogs and signed up for their training program which was AWESOME. We love them. read more

We were traveling through St Augustine on our boat when our dog ate the strap from a life preserver. She eventually showed signs of an obstruction. We got her to St Johns Veterinary clinic. Dr Siders and the staff took great care of our dog and treated us fairly. I highly recommend them. read more

very overpriced! Ive had BOTH of my golden retrievers taken to st johns veterinary clinic for the past 8 years,on my last visit(s) I was having a issue with my younger females ears,after multiple visits and so called follow up visits (at the cost of hundreds) I decided to get a second opinion at another local vet,well $198.00 later my female is fixed and no more ear problems. St.Johns veterinary clinic is a total ripoff and it makes me wonder for how many years ive been letting them do this to me,BEWARE of this office!!! read more

Dr. Wibby has been our vet since we moved to the area 2 1/2 years ago. We adore her! The staff is kind and gentle. They helped us with the loss of our boys and have been fantastic with our new little girl. I also use The Pet Shop for grooming and they do a great job. This clinic employs several vets (at least 6) & has equipment on-site to do tests that other vets in our small town can't. They give pets 24-hour intensive care, do 1-day procedures such as dental work, board & groom dogs & cats, & also have an attached pet shop. (The pet shop also collects food donations for pets of needy Meals on Wheels recipients -- what a great idea!) They have a separate waiting room for cats, if you want, & exam rooms dedicated to dogs or cats. A vet or vet tech calls you promptly with results of blood tests, & I've always gotten a call back on the same day if I have a question. I've seen a number of the vets (including one I didn't get along with & never saw again), haven't had a problem with office staff or techs, & always get a follow-up call after a visit. The owners, Dr. Gendzier & Dr. Quench, are "trying to retire" but are still involved with supervising the clinic & see animals occasionally. The clinic serves pet critters of all sorts (probably not alligators, but most others :-) & also does a LOT of pro bono work, including vet services & other support of the HAWKE wildlife rehab facility. With all that going on, it's no surprise that their prices are among the highest around & unfortunately, they don't offer payment plans. However, if you're a long-time customer they aren't going to kick your sick pet out the door. If you tell the vet that you're concerned about expense they'll find out the cost of treatments & medications, & suggest alternatives or tell you what's most urgent & what's 'good to know'. This is a case of "you get what you pay for" -- if you have an old pet or one with chronic or multiple problems, I believe this is the best vet clinic in St. Augustine. They're particularly good about explaining options & being willing to talk with you & research if necessary until you're satisfied. (I note that the recent rash of 1-star reviews were written by people with hometowns/locations in Souix City, Savannah & Hawaii; every review they've written about Florida businesses are 1- or 2-star; & 2 have brand-new Yelp accounts with only 1 review. So there's them, vs. everybody else for 2 years.) I've taken my cats to St. Johns Vet Clinic, off & on, since 2001. Some had simple problems, like a cough or just needing rabies vaccination or flea treatment. A couple of other cats had conditions (behavior problem & flea-bite allergy) which the vets & I worked together to deal with for years. Most importantly, I took a cat who was THE pet of my life to Dr. Genzier for ~8 years. She was already old when I moved here & had had major medical problems earlier in her life. Here in Florida she developed hyperthyroidism, arthritis & progressive kidney failure; the combination of conditions & medications also made her prone to constipation, dehydration & nausea. With all that, the remarkable thing is that Dr. Gendzier helped me keep her relatively healthy, happy, playful & as active as possible until the last days of her life, just short of 21 years old. When she was failing he told me what would probably happen, hugged me & offerred to come to my house to euthanize her; and when I decided the end had arrived he met me at the clinic after hours & took time to talk & pet her with me. Afterward I was amazed to receive a card that said he'd made a donation to a vet school in my cat's name. That sort of compassion & spirit of helpfulness is rare & priceless to me. read more

We bring our dog here and we like them alot. We have to get medications about once a week and everyone is always nice. The receptionists are friendly and they are always busy except lunchtime. We see Dr. Deckard and she is nice. Wewould recommend them to everyone. read more

I had previously posted a not so favorable review back in 2013. St. Johns called to follow up, ask questions, offered a free bath etc. They were very concerned about how my pet was treated and my discomfort. I made the decision to go elsewhere but over the past few months I brought my dog back to St. John's because of a misdiagnosis from another vet. My dog needed surgery for a complicated cyst on his ear and we chose to take him back to Charlotte to have the surgery completed where we were most comfortable. However, St. John's assisted with the follow on care, stitches maintenance, removal and when he got an infection provided antibiotics etc. They were wonderful. They completely turned me around. The docs and staff were amazing and we were treated well. Our last 2 visits that were to just check on his wounds they didn't even charge us for the visit. They are our new local vet! It was some years ago (2003) when I bred my black Labrador "Nikki". Having some knowledge as a veterinary technician, I knew something was wrong. I didn't hesitate to take her in as an emergency to St. Johns Vet, as I have always had a wonderful experience there good or bad. They took an x-ray and saw one puppy blocking the progress of birthing naturally. We decided quickly the best and safest way was to do an emergency c-section. To surgery we went with the entire staff on cue as Dr.G had counted approximately 12 puppies on x-ray. 16 puppies later, one whom was stillborn, I had my hands full. I took my Nikki and all her adorable puppies home a few hours later, healthy and happy. Thanks to the wonderful doctors and staff at St. Johns, I will never go anywhere else. Their quick decisions and wonderful care made all the difference. They were thankfully well staffed to handle such a large litter. *At the time, I held the record for largest litter.
