The drinks here are delicious and there is a huge variety so you will definitely find something you like. I would recommend getting a hot tea (any of the buba teas can be heated up) during the winter, or a fruit snow for the summer. My favorites are the mango slush and the Thai iced tea. Although I do enjoy the drinks here, the last time I went, I did not care for a sign they had up on the counter. It essentially claimed all sales were final, they would not re-make drinks, or do exchanges if you were not happy with yours. Great bubble tea. Consistent food. Plenty of offerings. It's always interesting eating here. Do I go American Chinese or Traditional Chinese? It doesn't matter, because they prepare everything very well... whether it be the hot braised chicken or the soy sauce chicken. It's located in the loop and is very popular with students as well as locals. St. Louis Bubble Tea is always bustling with people when I come. I usually get my black milk tea standard (usually with coffee or grass jelly but that wasn't an option here), and since I've been on a thai tea kick, I thought I'd try it here. It was delicious! My bf tried the taro milk tea, since that's his standard, and he thought it was better than anything he's tried before. We both concluded it was more taro-y than other places... Other places water it down with milk and sugar but we could actually taste the vegetable pretty well. I preferred the thai iced tea and he preferred the taro. Stopped by Bubble Tea and after reading the reviews of other yelpers I have to say that I don't agree with what they're saying in regards to the drinks and food. It could be that I'm visiting from out of town and in my area there are an abundance of tea places but this place just doesn't cut it for me. Walking in, there are a good amount of tables and the decor is decent. The menu is overwhelming. There are many different varieties of drinks and add-ons. With a menu this size, I don't think it's possible to serve without using powder base for their drinks. I ordered the taro milk tea with no add ons. The tea was thick and did not taste fresh. It was smooth, but very rich. I could taste the powder that they used to mix the drink and it was not impressive. For the price of the drink I would hope that they would make things fresh, but I guess with a menu that size, the upkeep would be too costly. Granted I only tried one drink, and it could be that their other tea drinks are fresh and better, but this review is based on my taro milk tea and chicken. Also ordered the spicy chicken side that took...forever. It took them 16 minutes from the time I ordered to give me my food. If I liked my drink it would've been gone in half the time it took them to make my food. This wasn't a one time occurrence. I came twice just in case the first time was an off day. The chicken was decent...nothing I'd rave over. It was a bit dry and the batter used to coat the chicken was very rich, but not in a savory way. St. Louis Bubble Tea has decent bubble tea for the Midwest. It's inevitable to compare it to places with "better" bubble tea like Chicago or California, but for the Midwest, it's on the better side. I personally would not go here for the food. It's not to say that the food is terrible or anything, but it's sort of like going to a burger joint for ice cream, where you could get better food for a similar price. The drinks tend to be on the sugary side, but that shouldn't deter you. The seating inside isn't the best, but that shouldn't be a quality that forces your decision one way or another. Writing this review makes me crave another bubble tea from here. I LOVE, LOVE bubble tea, and this place does a pretty damn good job. I got the chai with bubble tea, which was the best choice I've made in a while. Mmmmm! It combined two of my favorite things (chai and boba), and combined them well at that! Prices are good, menu is very extensive, and the staff was extremely nice. Once star off for the really questionable bathroom. You have to ask for the key to unlock the bathroom, which doesn't make any sense to me...no one in their right mind would go in there if they didn't have a bathroom emergency. When I saw the key (complete with disgusting "key chain") and bathroom, I had the same feeling that I get when I'm on a road trip, have to go to the bathroom, finally find a gas station, and then hear that the bathroom is around back and outside and I have to use the key to unlock it. read more

This is one of the few places in St. Louis that offer boba drinks. I really wish I could rate them high but unfortortunatley I cannot. Their mediocre drinks and hard boba really are a turn off for me. It is a hit or miss when it comes this place. There is really not a consistency in the quality of their drinks or their boba. They offer a wide variety of drinks to choose from but it is all made from powder substitute. You can really taste the difference. A good drink is made from fresh tea and fresh boba, and this place sure knows how to fail in both areas. I only go here when I have to, if not, I'm opting for home made tea. I've lived in STL for over 10 years and this was one of the place that reminded me of home (California & Taiwan). I know STL is horrible in terms of yelping, so I figure I'll try and bring up the number of reviews to my favorite places. Chicago Chinatown has a few that's more your style. Drinks: The variety of flavors are great. try something different please. (to the owners... I was sad to find out on Monday that you're discontinuing plum. That's one of my favorites. Now I really have to drive to Chicago to get my fix). Slush or flavor tea... it's all good. Warning: your boba will freeze in the slush after a while but if you wait for it to thaw, it'll be just as good as before. Foods: the crispy chicken (#1 on menu) reminds me of road side stands in Taiwan. a little basil and more flavor powder and I'll be in Heaven. I've also had the beef noodles... not the best ever, a bit heavy on the soy sauce. Service: well, in the past ten years, I've noticed that they've gone from hiring Chinese guys to African American guys. Though they're friendly and helpful, but if you happen to be behind a WU group on a Friday/Sat night... you're out of luck. You're lucky if there's a place to stand while you wait for 20 minutes. Im still pretty new to st. louis, and when I heard that a boba place was close by, I jumped at the opportunity. To be fair my bubble tea/boba standards are probably higher than your average joe, but this place is pretty average. I ordered a jasmine milk tea, a pretty standard drink. It was way too sweet, and the tapioca was really hard. But hey, they must be doing something right, because the store is crowded and everyone else seems satisfied, supply and demand at it's best. It was your usual hot, sweltering, humid day in St. Louis. The brother and I had had brunch and had checked out the CWE Taste and Art Fair...which wasn't really your high-level gastronomical experience. The art was okay, but missing that oomph that other fairs have. My brother started lagging, and I started thinking of dehydration. We walked past Banh Mi Boba, and I perked up, practically ready to drag my brother inside. But alas, Banh Mi Boba doesn't open until 5 PM. What's up with that? My brother suggested St. Louis Bubble Tea...I was all for it. It turned out to be the highlight of my day. Drinks are usually $2.50-$3.00 with boba or lychee jelly 30 cents extra. This place gets super star points for even offering lychee jelly. The drink list is extensive; I went with my usual staple, almond milk tea with boba...and I was not disappointed. I downed that drink down like an alcoholic craving Jack...and gave serious thought to turning the car around and getting two more to go. My brother got the starfruit green tea with lychee jelly...it was definitely different, but a good kind of different. It's nice to know that I have more boba options though...and would probably go back and try the food there sometime. And although the place apparently does not use fresh fruit, it is just as good as Joy Yee's in Chicago. And I think better than Banh Mi in CWE. read more

Okay, so the drinks here are hit or miss. One day I can get a mango slush and it's absolutely perfect, then two days later, it might be 3 times as sweet, rendering it almost undrinkable after a few swallows. Sure, I've found undercooked boba (one was totally raw) in my drinks from here, and maybe some of them do have some less than pleasant after tastes (ahem, honeydew), but by-and-large their teas are pretty good. I can definitely say that my experience with their milk teas has been pretty stellar compared to my experience with their slushes, so take from that what you will. I'll be honest, their bubble tea just doesn't stack up to what's available in cities like Atlanta, where Koreans comprise the second most populous immigrant population in the city. If I had to rate this place on their drinks alone, I might give it 2-3 stars depending on the quality of the tea that day. However, I still enjoy and purchase their drinks regularly, and I fully recommend you try them if you haven't before! That said, I ordered the General Tso's chicken from here today for takeout, and it was the quality of their food (not necessarily their drinks) that left me amazed. I mean literally amazed. I took a bite, and just blinked a few times, completely stunned by its flavor and the quality of their meat! I honestly didn't expect it to be even close to that good. The sauce is indescribable - probably the best I've ever had. Their chicken was fully white meat, and had no fat or indiscernable little parts hanging off of it, like you find at some establishments. The meal was so large, it could easily feed two people, and might even stretch as far as three meals for me, but I'm a fairly light eater. They also included two mini egg rolls in the box (which were completely delicious)! It was a cute touch on a great meal. Their food bumps my rating up to a solid four stars. I'm so glad I tried it! Actually, I'd say it was pretty good. I almost always get taro with skim milk (though I have doubts to the skim-ness of the milk) and love the lavender color and soothing taste. The boba are cooked well - not to chewy or hard. I also love the sealing top machine so I can grab the tea and put it in my car without worrying that it will fly all over the place. About 10 minutes later I get my food, three big ol' chicken wings on a bed of fries with 2 spring rolls, I got to eatin'. It was good and greasy, but definitely good! Enough left over to take home. I munched on it later at home, along with the bean bun, and I'm thinkin' those Asians really know how to eat some good food. All in All, 5 stars. So all I want to know is why have I not visited this place before!? Why didnt anyone tell me!!!!!! Ok long story short, i mentioned this place to 2 of my coworkers. They swore this place was legit. If they are very busy your best bet is to just order out. While we dined in I did notice as soon as a table left a guy came out to wipe the table down immediately. Food!!!! Ok So let me start with the crispy chicken. What are they? Are they fried chicken skins or are they just fried chicken. Ill tell you what they are.... they're freakin delicious!!!!! Omg I devoured these things. They are so crispy and was served hot with a dash of some seasoning (i think lemon pepper). They are very thinly sliced pieces of chicken, (I believe dark meat) covered in flour(maybe a mix with rice flour) and deep fried. Did I say they're good? I did? Ok...ijs. My lo mein was very good may need to add a little soy sauce though. His fried rice..delish. Same thing, may want to add soy sauce and in fact we did...like 3 packets of it! I've been going to this place approximately once a week for more than a year now. It's a great bubble tea place if you like the standard chinese bubble tea options: milk tea, flavored tea, slush, and snow. They don't have really fancy teas like teavana, but I hope that's not what you're looking for anyway. The people are friendly, the bubbles are usually a fairly decent texture, and the bubble tea isn't too expensive. If you're picky about bubbles, the guys there are really nice about letting you try one to see if the texture is good. My friends and I also sometimes get food there. Their food is cheap and rather tasty. I like their fully chinese menu but their fried chicken type things are good to satisfy a grease craving too. I think my favorite thing is how the people are willing to make things not technically on the menu. In each category, there are flavors but not all flavors show up on the menu in every category. My favorite drink from back home in Dallas is a vanilla snow. I asked for one on a whim once and they made it for me beautifully. Came here when I was visiting St. Louis cause I was craving boba and asian food. The menu is pretty expansive, so it took me a good five minutes to see what I even wanted. I ordered the beef stir fry noodles and salt and pepper tofu. For the price, you get a LOT of food. I was only able to finish half of my noodles! It tasted pretty authentic, albeit a little more oily than I would have liked. The lady at the register was nice and sweet and was patient with me when I was deciding what to order. I remember when it first came to Champaign when I was going to school there and my friends and I practically lived at our local bubble tea joint. Now that the novelty has worn off a bit, I find it kind of boring. But, if you're not burned out on Bubble Tea, the best place in STL to go is St. Louis Bubble Tea, which has several location across STL, but I can only speak for the Delmar location. The store is clean, the staff friendly, but the look isn't nearly as homey as my old haunt in central Illinois. I decided to give this place a try in hopes of finding my STL bubble tea joint and unfortunately, I think I've got some more looking to do. I had their mocha blast with boba and it was, as Yelp would put it, "a-ok." It would've been a nice drink to have in the Midwest heat... had my drink not kept on leaking through the lid. On the flip side, I think it's just the coffee-type drinks that have the lids.. all other drinks options (and they've got a lot of them) come with the plastic covering.
