We are always on the hunt to find good Chinese food. We got take out from here last week and it was an absolute hit. The fried rice was just about perfect in my book. The chicken was super tender. We also got the orange chicken and it was the best I've had in a very long time. It looks spicy - but it's really just very flavorful. Also loved the won ton soup. Thick wontons and delicious broth. The portions are large as well. Staff friendly when ordering / picking up. The order was even served in a nice reusable bag and good reusable containers! I liked their St Paul at another location but tried the crab one. Of course it was the imitation stuff which I should've known, and was horrendous fried. Otherwise just wasn't a good St. Paul. Not that great... that was my first thought when I ate this. To be fair, asian food is not on my top 5 list of cuisines, but when I do partake, I want it to be good. I had an egg roll and 1/2 order vegetable fried rice. The egg roll had a hint of dish water taste, just enough to hit the palate. I added a packet of soy sauce to the rice and it still lacked flavor. Wry friendly and accommodating. They do mainly take out, but we sat on the cute boba tea side of the restaurant and had a really good time.

I wanted to take a break from my usual Chinese place so I searched Yelp for alternatives in my area. This was the closest, and despite its middle of the road reviews, decided to try it anyway. Once again, the Yelpers were right. When I arrived at noon there was one guy at the order window, and nobody at any table. As I write this at 12:30 there are people at three tables. I ordered Generals Chicken, my favorite, and asked if there were any veggies in it. I was told no, but could add broccoli if I liked. I did, and noticed on my bill it was an extra dollar. I also requested it be extra extra spicy. Delivery was quick, and everything was hot - chicken, rice, and crab Rangoon. They got the spicy right also. Food itself was decent, but nothing to write home about. Each item was pretty middle-of-the-road inoffensive. Not bland, but not really good either. Would I come back? You can find Old St Louis Chop Suey at 12454 Saint Charles Rock Rd, Bridgeton, MO 63044 near the Lambert International Airport and right of the St Charles Rock Rd exit from I270. The restaurant is in the middle of a shopping center and is fairly distinctive - park in the lot out front. This is an old-school "swag" Chinese restaurant - your basic Americanized Chinese cuisine. We stopped on the way to my flight out of St Louis with the promise that this place was super fast and indeed the time between ordering and food-on-the-table was just a few minutes. I believe the owner or at least the guy being the small ordering window, was Vietnamese and like so many before him, he's got a restaurant featuring food outside of his own culture. The restaurant's interior isn't much to write home about - very simple with rows of tables and just a few Chinese accents. Menu items include all the usual Chinese you find in similar restaurants all across the US. Prices were super, super reasonable with most "Combo Playyers" ranging between $5.45 and $6.15 and the chef specials between $8.95 and 12.95 (Seafood Delight). My only complaint is that there weren't any Vietnamese dishes included as that cuisine is one of my favorites. I ordered the Hunan Chicken - it came on a platter with an inverted bowl of fried rice and an egg roll. The ingredients were quite fresh, if a little lacking in heat/spice. The food was quite palatable and it worked well with the hour-long upcoming flight. Service was done by the same guy behind the counter - not surprising and typical of these mom-and-pop type restaurants - the guy was quite pleasant, answering all our questions and delivering our food quickly - in all, quite good. They delivered the food super quick and the price is right with plenty amount of food (as usual with Chinese food). The food was average, nothing to remember, do not think I will order again. The Lo Mein is pretty basic so is usually a safe bet, but this time was the wrong call, the onions were too big (do not like then that way) and there was like literally 5 small (and I mean it, "tiny") pieces os each "meat", except for the shrimps (there were only like 4 tiny ones). The sampler, the crab rangoons were good, the rest is not worth mentioning. Do not recommend this place. read more

I walked in around 8:30. nobody was at the front. so I grabbed a menu by the window and sat down to see what I wanted. while I was overlooking the menu one of the workers kept coughing, So I got up to look in the back not only to see who was coughing but why nobody came to greet me and asked what I wanted. because there's a loud bell that goes off when you walk through the door so I was sure they heard me come in. when I looked to see who was coughing the Man was cleaning the grill and did a hawk spit right on the grill. I literally almost threw up and instantly hated that I didn't not have my phone on record. it was by far the most disgusting thing I have seen in a long time. I instantly put the menu down and walked out still in disbelief. I will never visit another Chinese restaurant as long as I live. I will be making my own from now own. This was my first time ordering chinese in the St Louis area. It was pretty good. We had our food delivered to our office, they told us 45 minutes and 20 minutes later received the call they arrived. Awesome!! I ordered the sesame chicken combo platter. Most of them are $5.95 and they charge $1 more for their flavored rices. So I ordered shrimp fried rice. (I posted a pic of it too) They gave a choice of egg roll or crab rangoon so I went for the crab. There were 2 in a bag, they were amazing but definitely not the customary rangoons that I am used to. The rice by itself was awesome, I can't identify the flavor but it was good by itself without soy or the sesame sauce which made me pleasured. Their chicken however gave me indigestion which did not taste good coming back up the second time around. I feel their portions could have been bigger though. Conclusion: I will return because the food was decent and they are right down the road from my work. read more

Once I get there, I pay for my order, and when I asked for condiments such as soy sauce and red pepper, the man at the cash register was very nasty to me and says, "You know I'm busy, right?" That's the first time and the last time that man will ever treat me like that. In addition, the shrimp fried rice tasted horrible--I ended up throwing the box in the trash. Going there was a waste of time and money, and, the rude man working there needs to get out of the restaurant business if he has issues dealing with people. Coworkers and I were desperately wanting some Chinese takeout for lunch yesterday but were running into a few problems. 1) We had exactly 30 minutes to go, order, pick up the food and be back at our desks. 2) We work in Earth City. The closest option was off of the rock road. We decided to give this place a try because we figured since it was right off of the highway we could *hopefully* be there and back in time. I kind of wish we had never made that decision. it is located in a generic strip mall style, exactly what I expected. I walked in, ordered quickly and sat to wait for my food. The food was ready in less than 10 minutes and I was excited that I got back to the office, at my desk with 5 minutes to spare. And then I started to eat. I took a bite of the veggie "spring roll" which looked like any other I had before. It was the weirdest tasting spring roll I ever had. Like crazy weird and I couldn't put my finger on it until I finally figured out that it kind of tasted like cinnamon? Weird. I could only eat 2 little bites and I was done with that. Then I took a bite of the fried rice, it actually tasted identical to the spring roll. Gross. I thought maybe I could redeem myself with the crab rangoon. I took one bite and had to spit it out, something about it tasted so rancid. My last bet was my chicken. I figured at least maybe I could get something that tasted a little different. Nope. One bite revealed that same exact taste as everything else. So what does a spring roll, chicken, crab rangoon and fried rice all have in common? They all taste identical if you get them from here. So after a few bites of food, everything got thrown in the trash and my appetite was definitely gone. I would say it's a pretty safe bet that I will never be back. read more

This place is what it is - a cheap-o Chinese restaurant in a marginal part of town. The food is greasy, the place is well worn and the service can be questionable. On the upside, it is cheap. Nothing was horribly wrong but nothing was exceptionally right either. I had the general tsao's chicken. Typical preparation except that there was nothing to the dish beyond the chicken - no veges or other enhancements - just chunks of breaded and fried chicken in a goopy sauce. I was expecting some peppers or onions or something more...nope. Back in the day I used to work at the Best Buy right next to this place and I have been here many times. I will give this place a 3 star rating for two reasons. The first reason is the Saint Paul Sandwich. I love the Saint Paul sandwich here it is one of my favorites. The other reason is that they are fast. I am not a huge fan of the fried rice here and the buffet is not amazing either. The workers here are very nice though. You know what on second thought I am going to give this 2 stars. Because "Meh. Went out to lunch on my lunch break and had a craving for Chinese food. Since I am not from the area and not too familiar with the general location and since this was he first visible chinese restaurant, I decided on it. it didn't turn out too bad. I liked their chop suey and their fried rice. Overall, I would say the food is pretty good compared to others I have had. However, the service was quite terrible. The waitress seemed completely unhappy and angry for the most part. She angrily told us the total and seemed really annoyed when we stated that she forgot to add the drinks and re-did the calculations and once more, angrily told us the new total. Back in the early 90's this place was awesome and really packed em in, however, the quality of the food has gone down a lot in the last few years. The place rarely has anyone in there when we go to pickup our order, and i am actually surprised yhey sre still open for business. I I find it hard to believe that the health dept hasnt shut them down yet. My teenagers still like the food, but i doubt i will be back there again. read more

Price:portion was excellent. That's all the praise I can give. I ordered via GrubHub at 11:35 and it took over an hour to get to me, a whopping 1.8 miles away. I understand prep time and all that jazz but it's still ridiculous. When I finally get my food I have to immediately take it and warm it up. The Crab Rangoon was straight cold and the chicken only luke warm. The General Tso's sauce tasted like ketchup with some Tobasco in it. It came with fried rice and I chose the egg roll. The fried rice was dark brown and flavorless and a bit gluey. The egg roll tasted freezer burned and the sesame chicken? went Saturday 8/26/17- around 445pm not one person in seating area only one person called in a order while I waited for mine I stood at counter about 4 minutes then was acknowledged the guy who had waited on me was head down on table when I first walked in he was friendly I ordered crab Rangoon- very loose slimy filling but had flavor but were way to overfilled with sweet slimy filling vegetable egg rolls- you get three the wrap is excellent and crunchy- the filling very little vegetables tons of cornstarch so it tasted like cornstarch and left the powered cornstarch covering my tongue ugk hot braised chicken wings combo- with crab Rangoon- the chicken was flavorful and cooked always a plus- fried rice plain but did have flavor special fried rice * I added duck meat BIG MISTAKE* fried rice on its own had flavor and seasoning- had 2 baby salad shrimp in entire full order but still on its own it stood up then came the added duck look at pictures it will tell you it was not chopped up it was huge chunks and come to find out the chunks were bone which almost broke my tooth. overall $23 I spent was NOT worth it the rice I would purchase again but as far as adding duck I would rather not take a chance had I not realized it was bones and swallowed it I could have had a ER trip or worse THIS IS A EXTREMELY DANGEROUS THING TO ADD TO FRIED RICE WHEN YOU ARE NOT EXPECTING BONES!!!!
