MAIN DISH: After reading other reviews, I tried the Dancing Tuna Steak with Penne Marinara and the House Salad, which I never got. The tuna steak was absolutely cooked perfectly at a medium rare. You taste tuna, and not an overdose in seasoning. There was a dill tartar sauce on the side which gave it a small kick. The pasta was also cooked perfectly and sauced with marinara. I could tell the cook mixed it and sauced it again instead of topping the pasta with the sauce only. Super meal and I slept like a baby that night. I complemented the meal with 2 ice cold Deep Ellum brews in frosted pints. The service wasn't great. It seemed it was under-staffed at the time. Although we were neglected...We still tipped more than enough as she was nice. ATMOSPHERE: Awesome chillin' spot for good food and brews. A saloon-style bar (stretches long). I'm new to Deep Ellum and was led here by other Yelpers (isn't that always the case?) I saw two things in the reviews and I was sold: Deep Ellum IPA and seared tuna. So I came here for lunch today and ordered just that. I got the Tuna salad and the bf got the tuna sandwich- both were huge (I couldn't finish my salad... I always finish my food... And usually my boyfriends too). For about $12 each, these were worth every dollar. The atmosphere is great as well. They have a dog-friendly patio (all about the patios) and a very casual, friendly feel inside. We'll be back. read more

I finally tried the Tuna Steak and I must say, it's quite tasty and well worth the money spent. I also tried the Teddy's Tenders, though they look over cooked, they aren't. The chicken is tender and the breading is quite tasty. I've also discovered their amazing soup specials. Every night there is something different and it's always wonderful and filled with flavor. If your not too hungry, but just want a small cup of soup, make sure to ask what the special is while you're there. read more

Pesto pasta with bacon after a two-hour yoga session. It's pretty awesome. I like that they gave me a plastic tuna fish with my water, and the pasta was solid, but the pesto was a little dry. I'm in Dallas twice a year for the past I can't even remember - Pete's has been THE GO TO for me. One of the most comfortable, laid back, friendly restaurant / bars I have ever set foot in. The food is incredible, drinks served with that awesome Lexi attitude and the proprietor, Pete, he is THE MAN. The staff is TOP NOTCH as well, you can tell they like working for Pete, smiling all the time. The place is filled with a collection of stuff that could only have been assembled by the man with his name on the joint. If you have the good fortune to meet Pete, you'll for sure be back. Nope! No thank you! We came to St. Pete's before a Dallas Summer Musicals show, mainly because it was the only thing nearby and open (RIP Meridian Room). Man, nothing on the menu was really appealing to me. Lots of fried seafood and then some more expensive grilled or blackened entrees, but I'm not trying to spend $25 on a pre-show dinner. I got the fried catfish platter, and when it came out there was a LOT of fish on that plate. However, the breading had a really weird, thick texture that I didn't love. I probably only ate about half of it. I also had the chowder which was OK. I will say the server was very nice, but I asked if I could substitute soup for the french fries on my platter, and he said no problem. Once we got the bill, I found that he had charged me full price for the soup. Sneaky sneaky! Next time I'll eat across the street at Buzzbrews. read more

I was meeting up with my boss and my boss' boss, both of whom were flying from out of state. I was looking for a nice but casual place in Deep Ellum I hadn't been to before. The reviews below swayed me to try out St Pete's and I must say they were very accurate. As you walk in, they have a large bar on your left and plenty of seating to your front and right. They also have a very large patio but that seems unused during weekday lunches. Anyways, the bartender told me to seat myself. The dining area is a little dim but it compliments the seaside shanty feel to the place. Until you notice that the giant mounted marlins on the wall are accompanied by a slew of other mounted trophies, primarily deer, and a bunch of other various sport signage. All that of course comes second to the two most important things: food and service. The service was friendly and pretty attentive. The menu has a good selection with a few price points. Most entrees start around $10 and cap around $30. I was going to get the tuna steak entree but steak fingers caught my eye at the last moment. They were ok- the breading came off to easily and the ends got a bit rubbery BUT the delicious gravy makes the dish. read more

I can't count how many times I cheated myself by just walking past Pete's on my way to the Angry Dog. They never seemed to have much of a crowd (I had not seen them at lunch, their packed!) and I for whatever reason did not think they were a casual type of place. I finally had a friend of mine hold a birthday party there and after a couple of minutes inside I slapped myself on the forehead and told myself "self, you have been missing out!". I'm a huge fan of St. Pete's Tuna either in the Grilled Cesar Salad or the Tuna Steak which you can order with a Pasta Side. The first time I ordered the Tuna cooked medium and the waiter asked If I liked sushi, as he explained the Tuna is sushi quality. Should have gone with the waiters suggestion of rare as the Tuna was great! If you need a great value fish fix than Pete's is your place! The Tuna (it's like a sliced steak of at least 8oz) is a real slab of meat and the Grilled Tuna Cesar is only a bit more than 12 bucks. What a deal! Their Pasta's and Sauces are all great and you also cannot go wrong with their Pizza. The Pizza is thin on the sauce and great quality on the toppings. Also, give their soups a try. All of them that I have tried have a little bit of a spicy kick and they are great for a cold day. I'm another fan of eating at the bar and catching whatever game might be showing on the TVs. It's a great place to just drop in, have your favorite adult beverage or two and also a bite to eat. A great bar with great food, how can you go wrong? read more

I've been to St. Pete's a few times over the years, and every time it's kind of been "meh." I never wrote a review because it's just one of those places I'd get dragged to for lunch and then forget about. It's not on my normal lunch rotation because it's a little expensive - although it's not necessarily overpriced, it's just mainly seafood on the menu. So I grudgingly went for a birthday lunch at work, know that there would be next to nothing I'd be able to eat on my new 1200 calorie-per-day diet. I actually ended up with a filling, yummy lunch. I ordered the Dancing Tuna Sandwich, medium rare (two thumbs up for having sushi-grade tuna - yesssss), and a side of grilled vegetables. I asked for them to not use butter, and the waitress informed me they only used olive oil. Bonus! The grilled veggies were a $3 upgrade and I was wondering why so steep? Ummm, it's because you get a huge, GIGANTIC bowl of them. As a matter of fact, there was not one plate of food between 8 people that got finished. Most people barely made a dent what they ordered. I threw my sandwich bun by the wayside, and dug into to some super delicious tuna. I mean, it was REALLY good. Chowed down on some vegetables, a small cup of lentil soup, and clocked in at about 500 calories. Not too shabby for a filling meal. The table ordered some fried pickles, and though I didn't try them, they were spears (not chips, like I normally like) so that's good to know. Our server was attentive and helpful, and knew a lot about the menu for picky, annoying people like me. St. Pete's definitely left a good taste in my mouth this visit. We wound up here by chance a couple weekends ago. My wife had the tuna salad and she was happy with it. My buddy and I were more interested in the Chicken Fried Tuna plate. I mean, really? They had me at inquisitive. The dish came out and the Chicken Fry part was brown, not golden brown, but really brown. The flour crust was thick and crunchy, and kind of lacking flavor. The tuna was definitely deep fried, and unfortunately it lost a lot of it's flavor in the process. I guess just because you can fry something, doesn't mean you should. I bet you got this far and are now wondering, why on earth I am giving this place 5 stars. Well, the decor and service gets it 1 star, my wife's opinion gives it 2 stars, and the sides were great. The linguine and clam pasta was great. The Corn Chowder was perfect. The menu, had something for everyone......all that there is worth the 5 star rating. I shall return!! Definitely got some weird vibes from this place. At prime dinner time on a Saturday, it was completely empty, which really should have been more of a red flag to our group, but we were desperate to just decide on a place to eat. For a restaurant named after a fish, they have surprisingly few seafood options. The fish and chips were mediocre, the wings were okay, and the calamari was average. Although we were the only patrons in the restaurant, the service was pretty slow, and our waiter was not the most sociable. Great food, service and just a cool place. A few of us stopped in for lunch last week and everybody was happy with their choices. The fried pickles were so yummy. Spears and the crust was perfection. My family and I never miss a chance to eat and drink here! This is a classic neighborhood bar environment with very little pretense but is not lacking on warmth and personality. There is a full-service bar and plenty of beer choices. The food is exquisitely prepared pub food. St. Pete's burger is cooked to order with a variety of customization options. I just realized I've never done a review of my favorite place EVER!! St. Pete's is my go-to spot to watch games, get excellent food, have great conversation with the friends, and just hang out. St. Pete's is the kind of place where you are given great service (at least by the bartenders - I don't sit at tables there often). Everyone is very attentive and personable. The new flat screen tvs are MUCH better, so watching the game from anywhere at the bar is easy. The kitchen at this place is amazing. From the tuna steak sandwich to teddy's tenders to pasta to veggies - it is all excellent! I'd rather eat here than anywhere! Highly recommended!! read more

Our group started off with Buddy's Fried Pickles, Enrique's Stuffed Jalapenos and Hummus & Pita Bread. Stuffed Jalapenos were out of this world. Perfectly crisp while gooey and warm on the inside. Fried Pickles and Hummus and Pita bread were good too. Pasta with Red Clam sauce was the table's favorite. Chin Chin's Chicken Sandwich had such an amazing flavor, I wanted to eat the extremely large chicken breast all by itself. Service and atmosphere were spot on to make the experience very enjoyable. Was alright. For my main course, I chose the SPDM Club sandwich w/ a pasta salad side. A great club sandwich, no doubt. Two types of cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, turkey, ham, bacon on buttered marble rye bread. F-in great. Pasta salad...gross. And the service stunk to high heaven. You'll love the laid back vibe at St. Pete's! It's a great place for lunch or happy hour. I've been going to St. Pete's for years and I'm a huge fan of the bacon and jalapeno pizza with a side ranch. But I'm addicted to the tuna steak salad now and get it every time. Order it with a side of tartar sauce and house dressing and you'll see why it's my #1 fave here. All sandwiches come with really good fries and portions are large. The Cobb salad is great too. Service was a little slow today during lunch but that is not the norm here so I don't hold it against them. The tuna was truly outstanding so it more than made up for it. Was that because it was Easter weekend, or is that normal for this chick? Either way, nice touch. I am also a Colin Boyd fan- who was playing last Saturday. I am pretty much going to like any bar that welcomes Colin. Watch your car if you meter park- got a $35 ticket two minutes after the meter expired as I was closing the tab. Really? Also, I notice below people have voted the establishment "not kid friendly". I know there's this whole, "No babies allowed in bars" mentality, but as a single mommy who just needs to get out and have some fun every now and then- I am always on the lookout for a place that I can bring my kid, have a special lemonade, and hear some music. My son is also a Colin Boyd fan, and after being there Saturday night from about 10-11:30 pm and being pretty much the only person in the establishment, I would totally bring my kiddo next time. This place is a true (not so) hidden gem of Deep Ellum. Went on a Sunday afternoon with a friend, had no wait for tables and they had the cowboys game on every tv. Lexus was our server and took great care of my friend and I, she is awesome. We ordered a full order of the tuna crostini, which was so incredible and you could tell the fish was high quality. The pasta we got was spaghetti with diablo sauce, which wasn't overwhelmingly hot but still had some heat and great flavor. The pasta came with soup or salad, so we chose soup. It was clam chowder and it was superb. We also got half & half wings, and the buffalo sauce was on point and the lemon pepper was phenomenal too. The portions were huge, but we were happily surprised. For the price, this place is incredible. I will definitely be back! read more

From the looks of the previous reviews, I may be the only one who is not a fan. The floors squeak, the air smells horrible, and the decor is just weird. This wasn't my pick for dinner and now I know why. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful in our food selections. I got the chicken sandwich option and immediately regretted it. It was fried super hard and mostly bread. It was practically inedible. Some of my other friends had pasta which did look really good. Out of the 8 of us, I would say half of us enjoyed our food and the other half didn't. I guess this place is just personal taste, but unfortunately it doesn't suit mine. read more

Service was excellent! Went for lunch and got pasta. The pasta was great, but added scallops and the scallops were HORRIBLE. They had a texture like undercooked chicken and bad taste. Scallops are supposed to be light and buttery and melt in your mouth. Our server was very kind and helpful and prompt. Just don't eat the scallops. read more

We love St Pete's. We love St Pete's so much we drive 40 minutes to get there. Last night was another awesome visit. I got my favorite, the dancing tuna sandwich. As always, it was perfect: thick, delicious steak on a simple bun. The ribeye he got was incredibly good (and we are steak snobs). The service was impeccable, the atmosphere perfect for a "get me away from Christmas" date night. Everything on the menu is delicious. Every server is knowledgeable and helpful and kind. This is definitely my favorite restaurant in Deep Ellum, possibly even in the entire Dallas metroplex. I highly recommend dining here, it's good for any time of the day. They are known for their seafood, but have incredible pastas that are to die for. They also have great salads and their Mediterranean items, such as hummus, are fantastic. The decor is awesome and creates such a great vibe in the restaurant. I've also heard great things about their drinks from the bar. Also their service is wonderful. Great lunch spot with good food from a large menu, good atmosphere, prices can be high if you go for the full entrees. I enjoy their many sandwiches (especially the burgers), Chili (cheap here and good), salads, and appetizers. A recommended spot for a business lunch too. I used to go to this place all the time for lunch when I worked down town. I visited it again recently and it's lost none of its magic. Get the tuna steak sandwich. It's sushi grade so the best way is just to have it seared on the outside and raw in the middle. read more

Went there for a late lunch on a Saturday so it was very empty and service was fast. I ordered the flying tuna sandwhich which was a 10-ounce tuna fillet. The waiter recommended medium rare which i didn't really like on fish normally but overall it was fresh and very juicy! My friend had a pasta with sausage and clam. I had a bite of it and thought it was kinda bland and the clam was too chewy but my friend loved it.. The bread that came with it also didn't have the crust that I would want in my bread. Pros: laid-back ambience, huge portions (the fries that came with the sandwich were enough to be a separate meal; a soup came with the pasta besides the bread), lots of interesting decor and pictures around the restaurant for customers to look at while dining Cons: i guess not that many as long as you know how you want your meat done. read more

Ended up at St. Pete's after realizing the Baker's Ribs next door was closed. It was a great place to stumble upon. The restaurant is nice, full bar and a huge beer selection.
