Came here after seeing Lights at Trees and the Food was amazing!!! Service was so good. The bartender knows what he's doing! His name was Carlos and watching him make the drinks was like watching alchemy. The care he took to make everyone's drink was amazing. I don't drink but I bet he would make an amazing concoction! Chino and Carlos kept checking in on me and made sure I was taken care of. Even though it was a Sunday night it was a little slower and idk why because the food is amazing. I asked for the chefs name (Grace) because the plating was gorgeous and everything was delicious! I got the fried flatbread- I would consider it more like a cheesy garlicky savory sopapilla to be honest and it was so good! I also had a cup of the goulash and it was amazing. The beef was so tender and so yummy. I thought it was very much like Bo Kho from Vietnam. They even served the goulash with bread! My mom and I walked in and were enchanted by the gorgeous dark restaurant. Built to honor the amazing Hungarian history and magic of the family that owns it, Armoury is in fact pure magic. Our server was super friendly and delightful. Mom got the damn burger while I checked out Vamprilla's grilled cheese, which is by far the best grilled cheese sandwich I have ever had the pleasure to devour. We hit Armoury this week for our annual Dad outings during the holiday season. As usual, it was endless laughs among close friends. It's easy for longtime friends to have a blast at one of the best cocktail bars and Hungarian pubs around. Who doesn't love exceptional cocktails and Hungarian fare?? Dallas is lucky to have such an eclectic bar like Armoury. You won't find another Dallas joint with a more unique vibe, the best quality and creative cocktails, delicious Hungarian food, and even better service. Check out the old school cigarette machine!! This year everyone showed up so there were 9 of us. It's fun to get everyone together at the same time since that's a rare occurrence. The bartenders took amazing care of us pouring delicious cocktails while all 9 of us ordered a bowl of their famous goulash (it's so good - photo 14) We've had a lot of the recipes before since we frequent Armoury throughout the year, but one surprised me since I've never had it. Velvet Revival (photo #2) is a complex and tasty sour with Brandy, pineapple, vanilla, lemon, Orgeat, egg white and a float of port. It was amazing and one I will order regularly from now on. I need to try and recreate it at home. Some other favorites the guys ordered were the fan favorite Ashes in the Fall (photo #6). It's probably one of the most complex cocktails you'll ever have. The main comment from a bunch of the boys was how can this be so well balanced with so many ingredients?? Because Armoury is one of the best in town, that's why. Our bartender Kelsey made BMo one of the tastiest Penicillins we've ever had (photo 9). It's a classic scotch cocktail everyone should try. Ritual of Buso (photo 11) is their spin on an espresso made from Macum which is a dark Hungarian liqueur. It was unique and tasty. Ok! I waited until I had a host of experiences before giving a review. I will say, the most recent visit proved to be an off experience. A group of us wanted a restaurant within walking distance of Dcc. Bartender Rachel gives the best bartending service here. So, I suggested Armoury. I had been coming here since they hosted live shows outside and served duck hearts on the menu. It's a cool twist on Hungarian cuisine. Remember to check out the walls and ceiling above the bar for the best decor. It was not busy. I loved how our group of nine of could be sat, easily and quickly. There was some confusion on how to go about ordering- bar vs table side. Eventually, we all went to the bar. I ordered G4 and soda alongside a 'Damn Burger'. They had Tap Pay. Note, using Tap Pay meant tabbing out right then. After ordering, I walked back to our table. It was unclear when about my drink was made. I went back to the bar and asked a different bartender to make my drink. A different staff asked if a drink already at the counter was mine. I asked if the drink had been messed with, relented and took it back to my table. A Bartender apologized and brought us another Reposado and soda on the house. Eventually, everyone from our party ordered. One app came out. Slowly the rest of of orders trickled out- all but one. We had been talking and eating. It wasn't until we were packing up leftovers that I realized someone from our group hadn't gotten their food AT ALL. It was wild. The place wasn't even busy. That's never happened before. I'm not sure what happened. I had to jet. Hopefully, my friend got his meal soon thereafter. Since the food and drinks have, otherwise, been consistent I don't think this experience will affect future visits. There's parallel parking, parking lots nearby and side street parking. The vibes were immaculate, but the food was not. Chicken Paprikash - 2/5 Good flavor, but it was really dry. Goulash - 4/5 Again, flavor here was very good, but the turnips were weirdly under-cooked and hard. Charred Octopus - 1/5 I'd say this one was inedible. Man, this place has gone downhill. We returned to Dallas for our annual event and made Armoury our first dinner. We'd been talking it up to our friends all day. What a disappointment. The menu has been massively downsized. Last year they had these awesome share plates, a build-your-own cured meat/cheese/pickle board with tons of choices, a couple of hearty entrées, and lots of cool sides. Now? Basically bar food with a light Hungarian twist. They kept the goulash, which is good, but other than that it's burgers, chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese, and a hot dog wrapped in fried lángos (fluffy flatbread). There are also a few lángos with toppings options. These were tasty, but they feel more like snacks than meals. No real sides beyond fries or pickled cucumbers. We came ready for dinner and left let down. Adding insult to injury, service was abysmal, and the place had a sad, empty vibe even at peak Friday night hours. It felt like a completely different staff from last year. Where past staff had personality and polish, the servers & bartenders now seem distracted and disinterested, like they don't want to be there. Tables were filthy. We were seated at one that was wet and sticky, like drinks had been spilled on it. Glancing around, I saw this was the norm. When someone in our group politely asked if they could wipe it down, they handed us napkins. After he clarified, the server sulkily came back with a rag and half-heartedly wiped the space directly in front of him, ignoring the rest of the table. I get that Armoury leans into dive bar energy, but even my favorite dive with counter service buses and wipes down tables between patrons. Here, it felt sloppy and careless. Given all that, prices now feel really high compared to the experience. The only saving grace? The cocktails are still excellent. At least they haven't messed with those recipes. read more

I'll start with the positives: the food was great (though they offered way fewer options than last year), and the drinks were absolutely on point. Now the not-so-good: the service was really disappointing. It felt like none of the staff wanted to be there--slow, inattentive, almost like a toxic vibe in the room, even though the place wasn't full. When I asked our waiter to clean the table, they just handed me napkins... not exactly what you expect when there's already a service fee added. Great spot in Deep Ellum for hand crafted cocktails. Unlike many of the other bars that offer generic drinks and margarita happy hours, Armoury DE has an extensive list of cocktails with unique ingredients. Chamomile-black sesame orgeat, papaya, apple brandy, cherry wood smoke, pandan, they've got it. The drinks are all made by hand and you can tell the bartenders really care about making a good drink. The inside is what I would call "dark moody" and had a kind of medieval, old Hungarian feel. There's plenty of bar seating, a few small tables and a patio out back. While we didn't order food, I did see that a table nearby got the customized charcuterie board which looked fantastic (skip to the last page of the menu - it's easy to miss). Armoury DE has been on my list to try since we moved to Dallas a year and a half ago. I love octopus and they came up with lots of reviews when I did a yelp search. What was I waiting for?? The octopus was awesome! Really well seasoned with yummy crunchy bits while still being tender. Husband got a burger with egg and demolished it. He raved to our server about how delicious it was. We came here on a Sunday around 2pm but they had the option of brunch (Saturday/Sunday) or the regular menu. Service was attentive without hovering and the decor was really cool. We're definitely adding this to our downtown/Deep Ellum restaurant rotation. read more

Super great selection of beers and drinks, the kitchen is open until 1:45 Am!!! Perfect place to end a night out in Deep Ellum. The schnitzel was a perfect meal to end our night out before we called our Ubers home. Hello, fries, fried pork, & gravy?? Yes, please. I enjoyed listening to the Saturday night bands on the small patio, but did not appreciate being charged $50 for two well-drink whiskey sours and another $30 for two orders of french fries. We had a little bit of time to spare before we had to head to the airport and decided we needed some tasty adult beverages. My husband found this spot and we walked on over. This location is beautiful, it's dark and inviting. I started with the Holy Trinity and loved the Limoncello cream with shaved nutmeg that topped off this drink. It complimented the brown buttered Bourbon nicely. I thought we would only have time for one drink, but my husband insisted that we would make it to the airport on time if we had one more drink. He is always right, so I ordered the Bonnie & Clyde which the barkeep mentioned as being their most popular beverage. I can see why, it was delicious. This location was beautiful. TL;DR: a chill bar with creative cocktails and hearty bites. I stopped by for a quick bite for dinner while in Deep Ellum. I was on my own, so I just found a seat at the bar. It wasn't very busy for a Friday evening, but I've heard some people like to drop by after a night of drinking. Ambience: if you've been to Ruins around the corner, Armoury is basically the Hungarian pub version (owned by the same people): a cozy, low-key bar with a somewhat alternative aesthetic. Service: didn't catch her name, but the bartender was friendly and very efficient - she continued to check in on things but seemed to always be on the move! Drinks: like Ruins, there was an extensive menu of creative cocktails with a wide variety of flavors and ingredients. I had the Mystic Mirror, which was sweet and rich from the combination of Thai tea, coffee liqueur, lavender, and cinnamon. Food: I got the Pörkölt, which was a beef roast with spaetzle and sour cream. It was a big portion, but luckily I brought a big appetite. The flavors were relatively mild, but the dish was hearty, filling, and definitely fit the Eastern European stereotype of meat + starch. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would return to try other cocktails and some other bites, maybe to wrap up a night of bar hopping. read more

The drinks here are phenomenal! I got the satan, sex and no regrets cocktail and it was perfect. It was fresh and had the right amount of sweetness and kick at the end from the jalapeño. The Bonnie and Clyde had a nice smoky flavor. You cannot go wrong with any of the drinks there. Food wise, it was decent but nothing unique. I got the damn burger and mamas soup. I spent New Year's in Dallas and went out a couple of days later. Me and my buddy were looking for a place to grab dinner and some drinks and Armoury DE came up on the good ol' trusty Yelp app. It's a Hungarian spot which is not something you get to try every day so we were sold. As you walk in, the ambiance stands out. It has a dimly lit speakeasy vibe with a lot of vampire decor adorning the walls. You'll see the Transylvannia influence on the menu too. I do have to call them out for this because Transylvannia is located in Romania and not Hungary. It may be close to the Hungarian border but don't claim something that isn't yours! Rant aside, we sat at the bar and started off with some Hungarian wine. It was a red wine and we both liked it. From there, we went with their chicken dish. I don't often order chicken at a restaurant because it's chicken but it was recommended by our bartender, so I went for it. And I'm glad I did. The roasted chicken was smothered in a delectable, thick sauce along with some paprika. The chicken was served with spaetzle. This dish was addictive! I couldn't help but finish all of the generous portion and do it at a rapid pace. Service was solid. You really can't ask for more regardless of whether you're just having drinks (they have a solid craft cocktail list) or whether you're having dinner too. read more

I went to this restaurant based on the fact it's Hungarian and who... doesn't become curious. I'm not gonna lie the experience based on ambience, hospitality, food, quality, and conversations was memorable. It has taken over a year to write this review but it's worth the procrastination. I would definitely recommend coming even if it's a table for one at a bar while traveling for work. When I first drove pass the restaurant after looking it up on yelp,I realized it was about to be a good choice. I had to park down a block since I only saw street parking on weeknight so my assumption would be parking most likely would be difficult on a busier night or weekend. They have an extensive and creative beverage menu with multiple pages and drinks to consider. Their food menu isn't as elaborate; however, it's supposedly authentic to the food survived in Hungary plus its unique and visually appealing. Since it was just me, I ordered the mouthwatering Vadasz( their hour Langos(deep fried Hungarian flat bread served with a side of Korozott (spicy cheese spread that's made from sheep milk cheese, goat cheese, quark, or cottage cheese), sour cream, & fresh garlic) with venison, goose pate, shredded spiced cabbage, roasted peppers, toasted paprika- garlic oil drizzle) which is a shared plate on the menu and the restaurant's June '22 seasonal dessert of a house-made chocolate banana bread with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, candied pecans then topped with powdered sugar. The dessert was so earth shattering amazing that I made it my mission to replicate this dessert for my birthday dessert a week or two later; however, without success and goal to make it again in the future. I have learned through my travels to Dallas, that the city is a food, hospitality, and event destination, and this place is worth visiting while in town. read more

Top notch drinks and service. We stopped in shortly before closing time. That's usually a recipe for disaster. I wasn't trying the be "that guy", but there was a torrential downpour outside. Tasty low-key spot with delicious cocktails, mocktails and food. We tried the ashen and trendy peach cocktails - the former had a lovely juniper berry flavor balanced with the berries and the second was sweeter, creamy and delightful. I ordered a mocktail with strawberry and ginger flavors, and it was so good - bright and fresh-flavored. For food, we shared the charred octopus which came as a generous portion of three thick tentacles, so tender, and lightly dusted with paprika. It comes with this bubbling bowl of spiced, melted butter as a dip, and it's the perfect accompaniment. We also shared the Transylvania burger, which they offered to cut in half for us. It was ample to share, as each half was the size of a whole sandwich. The burger was well seasoned, and came with cabbage, melted cheese and Hungarian peppers. The sourdough bread was deeply buttered (which made the burger pretty heavy), but all in all it was a really tasty and unique burger that we'd easily order again. This is a must for whenever I am in the Dallas Deep Ellum area. The bar is fantastic and the drinks are on point. The atmosphere is almost speakeasy like. There are so many fun, tasty, unique cocktails and tasty bites. I love building my own charcuterie or grabbing a burger. They also serve the only octopus I will ever eat. The Bonnie and Clyde is a classic drink (IMO) and the bartenders never disappoint. I enjoy myself so much that I keep forgetting to photo document the things I am writing about.
