It was date night(VALENTINES DAY) so my Hubby took me here with some friends & the atmosphere was great the waiter was a little slow but u can understand that it was a Hectic Night with all the People, but all in all it Turned out OK. The CRAB CAKE was the Hit of the night. It was so good 5 out of 6 of us had one($20 for one), but worth it!! We also had a conversation about it at the table while we were having Drinks( it was that good!)I also had the REDD FISH & it was GREAT as well & Very Filling. Wasn't the best experience for a first visit! But we ordered at 8:15 and the food started to arrive at 9:45 ! Then some things were sent back ! The only thing there was no complaints about were the crab cakes. I had a burger that was served lukewarm and onion rings that were stone cold ! And at $15 for a burger this should not have been ! Then there was and up charge for the cold onion rings ! The chargrilled oysters were ok! Very small though! My wife had the redfish and it was good . At a cost of $129. This was not a great dining experience ! Don't think we will be going back ! Unless the wife wants the chargrilled oysters ! LOL ! But to be fair this was only my experience, go try them and judge for yourself, your experience my be great! They seem to have a mixed bag of reviews, about equally good and bad ! So I had read numerous reviews on this restaurant after being invited here last min and couldn't make it. Everyone raved about it so I know I had to try it. My husband and I usually eat out on Fridays so I chose Stabs. When we pulled up, it was beautiful. A nice fountain and patio area. There was a beautiful fire as well. Walked in and was greeted and sat immediately. (It was on the later side) The table setting was simple but elegant with bold red cloth napkins as sort of the focal point. Our server was very attentive and so was the manager. They appear to have a great team serving approach. Other waiter and waitresses that weren't ours passed and stopped and asked if we needed anything and I thought that was different I love gumbo so I started with that. It's not a soupy texture that I prefer. It was more like a strew. It had shrimp, crab meat, and okra. It was served with white rice and it was delicious and piping hot. My husband started with the boudin spring rolls. In not a fan of boudin by any means but these were amazing. They were served with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce that complimented the rolls quite well Our entrees were the organic half chicken with dirty rice and sea bass with vegetables The chicken had a smoked flavor. It was seasoned to perfection and a rather large portion. The dirty rice was very good as well. You will have to take my husbands word on the sea bass but he didn't leave anything on the plate. We ended with the cookie skillet. Warm chocolate chip cookie served with vanilla bean ice cream. To die for. The cookie was so big but so gooey and hot. We spent $100. For the dinner but it was well worth it. I can't wait to return for the steak! read more

Enjoyed dining here for brunch. Pleasant atmosphere and very friendly service. Elegant table settings in a red black and white motif were pre-set. Our reservations were accommodated despite our changing them several times. Brunch is served on Sundays till 3 but a full menu is available. There are TV sets available to watch sport events but not obtrusive in dining area. There is a small bar area but several tables available on the balcony/porch dining areas. Wonderful entrees for lunch and dinner. No lunch available on Saturdays. I chose fried chicken and waffles with the all day mimosa and my friend ate seafood gumbo and a crab cake. The menu is on the expensive side but there several options. It was not crowded but it is a small restaurant and I have heard it can be. I suggest if you're planning an evening call ahead. I didn't even know this place in Central existed but I do now and I'm excited about it. The restaurant it's self is beautiful and the food was fabulous and the service was excellent. Upon arriving I was sat immediately and my waiter was there immediately as well, his name was Travon. The manager came by my table a few times to see how everything was and he even introduced himself and shook my hand, his name was David. I noticed that had a full bar and an extensive wine list, me I had a sweet iced tea with lemon which my waiter kept full for me. To eat I started with a half dozen of the charbroiled oysters and I added bacon & jalapeño's and I asked for the extra well done and they were cooked just the way I ordered them. For my entree I had the blackened shrimp Alfredo and seriously I think it was the best I've ever had. The pasta was cooked perfectly the shrimp were plump & juicy with just the right amount of seasoning and the sauce was nice and creamy and so flavorful and delicious. Pistoles and a big patty of butter with a big S on it came out to nibble on while I was waiting for my charbroiled oysters to cook and a small loaf of sliced French bread came out with the oysters. The butter reminded me of being at Cinderella's castle in Disney World where the butter has Mickey Mouse heads. I loved Stab's and I can't wait to go back the food, the service and the staff were wonderful making this a great dining experience but next time I'm getting dessert I was way too full tonight. read more

The food was edible they weren't the best tasting kinda of lacked really any flavor except for almost a sickly pungent from the herb butter but the prices are not worth the cost I've had 12$ ribeyes steaks at a better quality and flavor It came out beautiful looking the curved plates made it look pretty but made the overall ability to cut the steak agitating not including the steak was extremely tough and chewy The staff was wonderful they did a great job of taking care of the us But I really won't be coming back here Thanks for the wonderful service but sadly the food was not worth it read more

I Love Stab's it is my favorite place in town ,there are always new things to try the 'Savory Creole Bread Pudding ' so good ya must come try this ! Forest is so attentive and friendly and informative on the whole menu he was my server and was awesome ,the Manager David is always so Pleasant and informative of all the new items and he always entice you to make you want to try them . OMG MY CRAB CAKE is no joke it's all Lump CRAB MEAT ,and the Boudin spring rolls are also a must have ! The Watermelon Lemon Drop Martin is mouth watering good and smooth but will sneak up on you ! Very nice atmosphere, super professional staff, everyone we encountered was very nice. We have travel quite a bit and this place is good but it was not the best formal restaurant we have visited. We have no complaints, Food was very good but prices were a little exacerbated,l. I think there is limited options of other places of this style and nature so of course this one stands out. Been here twice almost exactly 4 years apart, first for lunch then for supper. Both meals were for parties of 4+ people and every single item we ate was superb, as was the service and the drinks. Most recently, we ordered the boudin spring roll and crab cake appetizers to start. Tons of flavor and all delectable. I ordered the NOLA BBQ shrimp and devoured them all. My wife got a prime rib and was a big fan. Also, might be the best Sazerac in the Baton Rouge area. Not to mention, the bread pudding and ice cream is top notch. I even enjoyed the Banana's Foster and I haven't had a bite of banana for 25 years prior! I pray that they build on their already stellar reputation and continue to promote culinary excellence in the BR suburbs. Lastly, the gumbo was the best I've ever tasted from a restaurant! read more

Full disclosure: we know the owner, David Rine; however, that did not color our opinion of our experience. I must eat GF and choose to eat meat rarely. My spouse is much pickier than I am. This meal was perfect. We both had cocktails and appetizers. Our waiter, Samantha, was able to have my drink changed to use rum rather than vodka. It was made with a simple syrup David created. Superb! My husband's martini was to his satisfaction. He ordered the crab cake and was very pleased, as it has very little filler. Very fresh and simply delicious. I tried the new brisket poppers which were added as a seafood and gluten free appetizer. They were delicious and fun and the meat reminded me of my grandmother's pot roast. We shared the house salad because I really like their pepper jelly dressing. It was dressed just right and the greens were fresh . We also shared the creamed spinach which is excellent - not overly cheesy or heavily sauced. He ordered a small piece of meat - I don't recall what exactly since I don't eat it. However, it was cooked perfectly to his request (barely cooked). I had the marvelous shrimp and grits, sans toast. That shrimp were plump, juicy and tender, and the sauce was delicious. I couldn't finish mine and brought half home. With no intention of having dessert, he succumbed when Samantha mentioned crème brûlée. You better believe we finished that. It was a truly excellent meal. While we don't usually eat that much, every bite was perfect. If you haven't been, go! It's perfect for a special celebration or just a lovely meal out. Food is excellent. Prices are a bit high but should be deemed as a special occasion restaurant not one that you go to frequently. David Rine is a great host and makes you always feel welcomed. This was second time to eat at Stab's in Central. We liked our first experience so much, we decided to come back and enjoy our 23rd wedding anniversary dinner here. First, the exterior and interior decor are beautiful New Orleans style. We were greeted as we entered and seated immediately. Our waitress was very personable and attentive. The first thing she asked was there a special occasion for dining with them, which was a pleasant surprise. Since it was our anniversary, they treated us to a glass of champagne, which was very thoughtful and started our experience off wonderfully! I had their watermelon lemon drop martini. They make their own watermelon juice. It came in a sugar rimmed martini glass with a strawberry on the rim and a lemon slice floating...the drink itself was not too sweet and the sugar on the rim of the glass was just enough. I will definitely order this again if it is still offered. I didn't ask, but assume it is probably a seasonal drink, since they do make their own watermelon juice for the drink. They had a 4 for $40 special with several different choices in each category - appetizer, salad, entree, and desert. The appetizers were excellent as was the 16oz Prime Rib; a huge piece of meat that took up half of our plates, which was cooked perfectly - and melted in our mouths! I couldn't eat all of my food, and we were both so full from our appetizers, salad & entree, we shared one of our homemade bread pudding deserts. To top off an awesome dining experience, our waitress said since it was our anniversary, they wanted to give us an extra bread desert to take home. Very nice touch. The manager came to our table after our appetizers and again after our entrees, to make sure we were liking what we received. I am sorry the few people who did not enjoy their visit to Stab's did not have the experience we had. I would encourage you to go back and give Stab's an opportunity to serve you again. If you have a bad experience let the manager know so he can correct whatever your problem may be. They do care about your dining experience and their food. Finally, we will be eating at Stab's again and if you cannot decide if you should go, you should. Hopefully your visit will be as enjoyable as ours have been! read more

The first time I ever visited my wife and I was out riding around checking out the area since we had just recently moved to the area . Both of us was in shorts and tee shirts , walked in to a room full of suits lol . As we was seated they asked what was the special occasion? My wife replied we are hungry . The waiter covered the menu with us and visited for a while making us feel at home . Great job ! The food , the service , the waiter , and the manager all provided amazing service and product .. The last time I went was with my youngest son , he loved the place !! And I discovered the bar has Some really great bourbons like pappy and Blanton's my favorite . I walked in with my child and when I entered, the hostess didn't even say hello. The waitress smugly led us to a table that was right by the front door. I didn't want to sit by the bar with my child, so I asked for another table. I was rudely told this was the only table with 4 empty tables in sight. We got up and left. Why didn't I go sooner!?!! If you are reading this and are undecided.... just GO. Our experience at Stab's was excellent and we will certainly go again soon. Ok food fans, let's break it down.... Service - Hostess was friendly and quick. Server (Jess) was upbeat, quick without rushing us, very polite (she asked each time before reaching to the table), and spot-on. And, (always a good sign) the manager visited out table and checked on our services. Appetizers & Cocktails - The Seafood Beignets are very tasty. Sort of like a fluffy hushpuppy served with a sauce. 7/10. The Sazerac used Makers Mark and was a solid rendition of an old favorite. 7/10. The vampyre vodka smashtini was an unexpected hit with my better half. She is not a cocktail person and she loved it. Sweet berry notes without being overpowering. She gave it 8/10. Lastly, a special soup of the day. A tarragon lobster bisque. If they don't put this on the menu permanently, someone should be beaten. This soup was an amazingly savory twist on lobster bisque. 9/10. Salad - The Sensation Salad. This type of salad is nothing new. HOWEVER, I was very pleased to see they put a thoughtful presentation together (won't spoil the surprise for you). 8/10 (how often do you remember a salad?). Steak - Fillet done right. Simply put, it was a good cut of meat cooked exactly right and served in a small black iron skillet. Steak is one of those entrees that you MUST get right, and the chef did. 8/10 Fish of the Day - Pan sautéed redfish over summer veggies. I cook redfish at home quite frequently, so I kinda know what to expect. The chef cooked the fish perfectly (light crust while remaining moist inside). The star of the dish were the summer veggies (squash, sugar snap peas, broccoli, etc.). The veggies were cooked PERFECTLY (which is easy to screw up). Exactly the right balance of wilting, crunch, and heat. I would order this again in a heartbeat. 9/10 This was one of those meals with no downside. The food was very good and the service was just right. Great first impression and we will definitely be back soon. read more

If you like atmosphere, and all the "fancy" that goes with it, this is the place for you. VERY overpriced! My wife got the 9oz filet that she said was delicious. I got the NY strip that was 1/3 fat and gristle. Filet was $41 and NY strip was $37. SIDES ARE EXTRA!! Crab Cake was very good ($16). One page menu (see website). I wanted seafood, but didn't see anything on the limited selections I wanted. Service was excellent, but I won't go back. Someone asked if I had the steak medium well. I really don't see how I got it cooked; the fat and grizzle would've been there nonetheless! read more

Was given a gift card to stabs, which I had never heard of, but will come back for sure! Had the 9oz fillet, my girlfriend had the 6oz fillet with shrimp, and we got the three cheese Mac to share. All the food was delicious! Best steak I have ever had from a restaurant. Our waitress was Shelby, and I would have to say is the best waitress I have ever had, great energy, very nice and extremely knowledgeable about all the food and drinks. Even if the food wouldn't have been good, which it was amazing, she still would have gotten a great tip. Would recommend stabs to anyone that wants to go out to a nice restaurant with great food. Took the wife here for her birthday. Ambiance and service was really good, Rosalyn (sp) was our waitress and was very knowledgeable. We had drinks, the Cajun lemonade and mojito were really good. Food-Appetizer Crab Cakes-$16. The flavor and sauce were great, there was no breading in the crab cake. You legitimately get all crab. You only get one and the one we had was unfortunately filled with shells. We aren't picky and know it's a tedious tasks but if im paying $16 bucks for a crab cake, I don't want to pick out shells every bite. Entrees- Rack of lamb Filet topped with n.o. Shrimp The lamb was great, cooked really well. Wish you'd get one more rack (2ribs) for $40 but no complaints about presentation or taste. Wife's filet was cooked well and the shrimp were good. Menu says shrimp topping is $9 but these were $14. Side- mac n cheese It's big enough to share but I don't recommend. Just a blah course. Not much flavor or anything. Dessert- white chocolate bread pudding We didn't get a dessert menu but the server gave an elaborate description of every item. My issue is no prices were given for any items. I expect $8 for a pricey dessert so you can imagine my shock when the bread pudding was $10 and the sauce was an additional $5. We eat out at nice places a lot and I don't mind paying for good food, which this was. I was just a little surprised that this was $185 before tip when I would have expected $135-150. read more

I was so excited about trying this place. I love steak and I heard this place had great steaks. We were seated rIght away with our private party but unfortunately that would be the only thing that was not disappointing. The service was extremely slow. Our orders were taken within thirty minutes but it was over an hour before we received our salad or soups and another thirty minutes before the entrees arrived. 7 of the steaks were not cooked as ordered and because of the lateness of the evenIng no one wanted to wait to have them corrected. This was a planned event made weeks ahead. So disappointing, will not return or recommend. read more
