No saving seats before you order which is understandable but once you ordered you still might not get a table. Your other option is to sit outside and get extra toppings of dirt, debris and whatever else that lands on your food. Ordering to go isn't a better option either. You can't sit at a table to wait. If you do you'll be asked to get up for dinning customers with an evil eye and an attitude. Happy eating. The hype for this place is not worth it. I ordered fruit pebbles French toast and they were amazing. With eggs and breakfast potatoes. My husband ordered a meat lovers omelette with breakfast potatoes. Nothing complicated. My review is based off the service. The highlight of our meal was my French toast and the other food would have been amazing had they not kept trying to bring us pancakes instead of my husband's breakfast potatoes. Made going to Stacks a priority as early as possible Sunday morning due to all the reviews about the long line. It's in the Trader Joe's Plaza on Culver and Walnut. Got there around 8:30 and the line was about 10 deep. Took about 20 minutes to move through the line to get to the cashier and place an order. Customer service is commendable here as they anticipate your needs. You're supposed to place your order then grab a table. They'll bring you your food based on the table sign number given to you when you pay. First, since the line was so long, they had people regulating the number of people coming in through the doorway and would break the line. This was great because this allowed room for the staff and customers to move freely through the doorway. Also, as we waited, a staff member asked us where we would want to sit and he went ahead and placed our number at a table for us. Food only took about 10 minutes to come out. I went to Starbucks for a drink and food came out faster than I was able to get back with my coffee! Had the loco moco with hamburger patty and fried rice for a couple bucks more. It was good and pretty filling. K had the pancakes combo and you get a stack of three. Food was plentiful and staff came by to ask us if we wanted more gravy or anything else. Everyone was really nice despite the constant flow of people. By the time we were done around 9:30, the line was wrapped all the way by the next store. Food was around $10/plate, ranged from waffles to pancakes and breakfast with Portuguese sausage or spam. A variety of items to satisfy different tastes for savory or sweet. The wait might be a deterrent for some, although seating is available inside and outside. The best part was the customer service! Came Saturday morning for brunch and there was a small line out the door, no big deal. This isn't a place where they wait tables; you order from the cashier and an employee will be more than happy to help you out finding a table for you to sit at. A number gets placed on the table and you simply tell the cashier your number. I ordered the Kalua Pork Benedict and a Spam Musubi. The eggs benedict was alright; not terrible but nothing amazing. Definitely a more of a proper eggs Benedict than what you can find elsewhere that isn't making crazy flavored Hollandaises. The pork was a bit bland and the juices from it make the English muffin soggy. Overall, I'd say 3.5/5. The spam Musubi on the other hand was a wow! I thought the spam was perfectly pan fried. Sometimes people overcook the spam until it's leathery or turned to dried mystery meat. The sauce was some kind of thick teriyaki, and without the ginger flavor some teriyaki sauces have. Arguably one of the best spam Musubis I have ever had, even though I've never gone to Hawaii. 5/5 would order again! Thank goodness for this place, because I think we are all getting tired of crappy breakfast joints in Orange County that aren't fancy, overly heavy, or disgusting like a Denny's or IHOP. Been waiting for this place to open & it finally did a few weeks ago. Came on a Wednesday at 10:30am& there was still a wait!! 1 register probably does not help. Service was ok. Can't say they were extra friendly or anything, just ok. The line moved slowly. We ordered and sat outsides. Still seats around since it was a weekday. My friend got the Capetian crunch macadamia nut French toast which looked good but the toast seemed thin & small. But she enjoyed it with the coconut oil. I got the spicy fried chicken, bacon, waffle with mayo on the side. Well that's really what makes it spicy . Thought chicken would have had some spicy seasoning but no. Stacks of food everywhere! When we pulled into the parking lot the line out the door was a bit daunting but as well encouraging as so many people were eager to eat there. Although the line was long everything moved fairly quickly. I think that we started just outside the door and by the time we ordered it may have been about 10-12 minutes. I ordered the strawberry banana french toast with a side of potatoes. Boy oh boy was the french toast good. Honestly, it was probably the best fresh fruit french toast I've ever had. You could tell that the strawberries were fresh and the banana was just cut. Unlike other places these were all fresh fruits instead of just frozen fruits with all the sugary syrup around it. The potatoes were as well excellent! A breakfast for me to want to come back to is a rare thing for me but I would have to say that I am definitely looking forward to my next visit and maybe trying some other things off the menu. The only problems I could see with the restaurant was that the spacing between tables was tight so you could hear everyone's conversations and the atmosphere was extremely loud. The tabletop was a tad bit sticky and the bottles for syrup and ketchup were too but I'd say that was the least of my worries as I was eager to dig into the absolutely beautiful looking meal I was just served. The Good: a cute place with a decent breakfast selection. I usually get the Breakfast Melt, which is always tasty, and the portions are sizeable. I've never had lunch here, so I cannot fairly comment on any other parts of the menu. Based on the lines to get in during certain hours (weekend mornings), it's clearly doing well! The Not-So-Good: this place is insanely loud! I expect a certain amount of noise in a public restaurant but Stacks is off the scale. I always leave with a pounding headache. I know this place gets crowded during the weekend and on weekdays (at peak eating times). However, my best friend and I went here off of the recommendation of her dad and brother. We went here on a weekday nearing closing time and I have to say off the bat amazing service! Cleanliness/Decor The decor reminded me of a 50s diner mixed with Hawaiian inspiration. The place is brightly lit and has a very welcoming vibe. Also, it is very clean. Food Get the banana macadamia pancake and eat it with the coconut syrup. So good! SOO GOOODDDD!!!!! But if you are lactose intolerant, don't use the coconut syrup there is condensed milk in it (my bestie is seriously lactose). Service The service is amazing. Also, I love how well organized it was when we were standing in line. They were able to find a table for us while we waited in line. So we didn't need to stress out. Overall 5 Stars! Went to have breakfast today with my family and went to ask for some coconut syrup for my pancakes and the manager Adriana said that she had not seen me order and when I told her that my parents had ordered and if she needed the receipt she rolled her eyes at me and tossed the syrup. When I addressed the issue she was completely rude and disrespectful and had the worst customer service and talked down to me. She was very confrontational and started laughing at me and responding sarcastically. Came here around 11am on Sunday and saw the long line of people waiting, so decided to come back a few hours later. When we came back around 12:30, the line had visibly shortened (15-20min wait) and we excitedly ordered out food- french toast, Benedict, scramble. Unbelievable. We waited for 50 minutes after we sat down on the table. We were quite frustrated and asked different staffs multiple times, who constantly told us they'll ask the kitchen/bring the manager/it's on the way/etc. On the one hour mark of just sitting at the table, two dishes came out and our third dish took another 10 minutes. THIS PLACE IS NOT WORTH THE HYPE! We came to this location based off of all the reviews and seeing that so many people loved this place. Showed up to the restaurant saw that there was a line out the door, thinking ohh man this place is super popular and really really good. Once we walked in we noticed that you order at the register, get a number and sit down and wait for your food to be brought to you. While we were waiting in line, one of the waiters pushed me out of the way very aggressively I looked back and said excuse me, and he just continued walking with his head down. This immediately killed the mood for this place. While we were in line we were like sharks in the water looking for a table because this place was packed and there was no seats anywhere and it was hot outside. We found seat one stayed in line the other sat down and waited. We ordered the vegetarian omelette and added bacon with a side of rice and gluten free pancakes. We also ordered meat lover omelette with spinach mushrooms and onions with a side of potatoes. Once we ordered we asked the gentleman that pushed me if he could please clean off our table as the plates cups cans and napkins were still there from the previous group. He said sure, yet continued to walk to the back and never came back asked another gentleman and he said no problem and cleaned it immediately. Once our food came 30 minutes later, we were so over the noise, the disrespect from the employees we just wanted to eat and get out. The omelettes rice potatoes and gluten free pancakes were all just okay, nothing that made us think man this is a place that we will have to come back to and to let other people know about. The rice was hard, it was not cooked all the way, the pancakes were extremely dry, the omelettes were nothing special. The meat lovers omelette was supposed to have Portuguese sausage in it and it did not have any in the omelette. The potatoes were extremely soggy. I have only been here once and it surpassed my expectations. The food is made so well here and you can tell that they pay attention to detail. I've only tried the california eggs benedict but my friends tried all the other food too. Everyone was really pleased. I've never been so eager to write a Yelp review. My family and I went there for breakfast today and our experience was AHHHHMazing! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was as good as it gets. The portions were perfect. We had the California Benedict, Strawberry, banana Nutella crepe and the kids had a nice sized pancake with perfectly cooked scrabbled eggs. And boy did everything taste yummy. I didn't include any pictures because we were all in a hurry to dig in! We always struggle to find a breakfast place that we all enjoy in this area (esp since my husband is allergic to eggs) We finally found it! I've never been to the other locations but I'm so happy that they opened up her in Irvine.
