I booked reservations in March for June, 2026--2 rooms, 10 nights. Due to plan changes, I wanted to cancel one night for each room, still keeping 2 rooms, 8 nights. I am within my cancellation make changes window. The hotel would not allow me to cancel the one night WITHOUT changing all the prices!!! Each room was approximately $300 per night so I should receive a $600 credit. OH NO, the hotel manager said that if I wanted to make a change it was $429 per night!!! I could still cancel though and rebook. IS THIS THE MOST RIDICULOUS, AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE? So I cancelled and they can go jump in a lake and I hope no one stay there! read more

While I was walking through the lobby another group of guests asked to change the lobby TV from Fox News to a baseball game and the person at the desk refused. We stayed at the Stage Coach Inn while visiting Yellowstone National Park. The weather was cold and inclement and the most negative thing about this motel was that it didn't have an overhang going into the building. So we had to park and get a trolley onto the street to unload our car. Unfortunately I don't pack very light plus we have a dog with us, so we had a ton of luggage etc. We ended up on the second floor, not my favorite with having a dog. The Inn was very cozy inside with lots of stuffed large size stuffed animals. Our room was large and very adequate with comfortable beds. Everything looked a little dated. They were dog friendly but there wasn't any place for dogs to walk. This motel was located within the city and you could walk to restaurants and shops. The breakfast was minimal with the only protein being hard boiled eggs and yogurt. We were allowed to bring the dog outside of the breakfast area, which was a plus. I would still recommend this Inn because it's location was so close to West Yellowstone and downtown. read more

We arrived mid afternoon and got settled in. We put our water in the fridge and realized that the fridge was not working. We contacted the front desk and they immediately contacted maintenance to look at the fridge. Within 10 minutes we had a new working fridge. We appreciated it very much. The hotel overall is older. Which kind of gives you the old mountain vibes. Yes the decor is a little out dated, but we didn't mind at all. We came for Yellowstone, and not to spend most of our time at the hotel. The hotel fit in nicely with the rest of west Yellowstone. If we ever make it back to Yellowstone, we would stay here again because the staff is great and it is a great location - only blocks from the park. read more

Having chosen to book this hotel, with it's multi-hundred dollar room rate, we were totally unprepared to find the bed sheets smeared with what appeared to be dried fecal matter. Management confirmed our observation, changed the sheets, and at the same time stated that our room was not the first to express cleanliness issues. He also added he expected the front desk to receive more calls before his shift was over. Adding to the discomfort of the room was having to stand in inches of water when showering due to the drain continually closing rather than staying open so the water could drain from the tub. When checking out, these experiences were shared with the morning MANAGER. He was unconcerned and unresponsive. read more

Very close to the West Entrance to Yellowstone. Staff was very friendly and offered lots of advice for dining. The best feature is the covered garage below. Few people use it. Stayed 3 nights the last week of Sept. for the price, location, and amenities, this place has it all. The breakfast is just ok, usual fare and the shower turns hot/cold sometimes for no reason, but be patient, old pipes. Otherwise, large room and bathroom, big tv, comfy bed, big fridge and microwave, walk to all the restaurants in town, supermarket across the street, friendly dude who works the front desk and is always there. Reviews are unfair. Obviously it's a tourist town so prices are jacked everywhere, well at least this property makes your vaca much more comfortable and convenient after a long day of hiking. This inn has a few pluses. It's clean and neat. It has a unique lobby with stuffed animals (bear, moose, etc.). It has your typical continental breakfast. And it's very close to the entrance to Yellowstone. On the negative side: the rooms are small and rustic. They often run out of hot water for your morning shower. The hallway smelled of pot. I haven't traveled in a while, so I am used to room rates being in the $100-range. This was over THREE HUNDRED dollars a night. So to me, that was egregious. Unfortunately, everything else was similar, so I just had to pic something. My criteria were proximity to Yellowstone (about 4 minutes without the line to get in), mini fridge (check) and breakfast included (check). It also had the benefit of an indoor, heated pool, and the stuffed wild animals in the lobby were a hit for my 5yo. We all went down to the pool on our 3rd of 4 nights and it was closed and drained. Supposedly because a light went out? The 4th night, my husband took the kid down and they said it was nice but too cold -- probably the heater didn't fully warm it up since it had just been drained. Breakfast was ok. They had pastries, bread, bagels, muffins, butter, nutella, juice, coffee, waffle maker, cereals and milk, hard boiled eggs on ice, a microwave, hot chocolate. Parking was really weird. There is a small lot in the back, but we were instructed to park in the free public parking in front of the hotel - that's a new one for me! Staff was mostly nice. One lady smelled like an ashtray from across the desk and wasn't super friendly but wasn't rude, either. Room was clean and comfortable. Everything seemed a bit dated but not uncared for. The shower head in our room could probably fly a jet because it was so strong and the drain couldn't keep up. We let the FD know and they changed it that day. The new one was perfect. So they were prompt at fixing a reported issue, although I could see water damage to the bathroom door, so it has obviously been an issue for a while. Perhaps nobody else reported it. Our room had a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, ice bucket, hair dryer, sink outside of the bathroom, desk, table with 2 chairs, TV, a window that opens, a good/functioning AC...that's all I can remember a week and 3 hotels later! There were not a lot of outlets/charging stations, but we were able to make it work. I'd probably stay here again. read more

FWIW, one of the more moderately priced stays in the area, but you get what you pay for. Think of it as a sliding scale, where the price increases, but the quality stays the same, so don't expect a $200 stay in a "normal" city. Private parking lot, or opt for street parking. Very walkable to nearby restaurants (~10 min or less), and about 5 minutes away from the West Yellowstone entrance. When checking in, they incorrectly assigned us a 1-bed, when we'd asked for a 2-bed at the counter. The first room smelled of cigarettes, but we were accommodated after returning to the front desk. Standard continental breakfast (waffle machine, muffins, danishes, oatmeal, cereal, languishing fruit, coffee/tea). Overall, outdated hotel with a good location - plan to spend more time outside of the Inn. read more

Stayed here for the last weekend of the full park (Yellowstone) being open in Oct/Nov. It's an older building, but still a nice place to stay. Nice older/rustic lobby (with warm fireplace) and friendly/helpful staff. Room was decent. They have complimentary breakfast. Currently it's grab and go due to covid. You can "rent" bear spray from the receptionist! If you don't use it, you don't have to pay for it (just return it) which is nice because it can cost anywhere from $30-$40. There is a supermarket right next door should you need anything (toiletries, alcohol, lunch for your day in the park, etc.) I would definitely stay here again if traveling to Yellowstone National Park. read more

After staying in the park for a few days, it was nice to be outside of the park for a day on our way out. Check in was easy and the man working the front desk was very friendly. The thing that got me was that it had wood floors in the room. I don't think I have ever stayed in a hotel that didn't have carpet. They had a pool and gym which I didn't use. Also had a nice continental breakfast. The only reason for 4 starts instead of 5 is that my Wife tried to take a bath at 9pm and there was only lukewarm water. I had a kind of expensive toiletry item go missing after the staff cleaned the room, and the front desk staff told me I "must have misplaced it" which I definitely didn't. They didn't do anything about the situation. There is no safe in the room, so I'd suggest taking luggage that locks and putting any valuables in it when you leave the room, including nicer toiletry items. For $220 a night, this place is horrendous. The shower barely has pressure and has two settings, it either feels like you're showering with a hose or a small stream. AC is very loud. Rooms are not insulated well, I can hear my neighbors. The bathroom towels are not regular sized, they've taken a regular sized towel and cut it into two and thats what we were provided with for showering. Two small towels that make one regular towel. You can literally see the edges coming apart because they've been to obviously cut with scissors to make two. Unbelievable that this place has ok ratings. Shit box for $220. Would not recommend. We recommend staying at a different hotel. We went to the grey wolf inn halfway through our trip. Even though they were both listed as 2 stars, grey wolf inn was far superior. This was one of the worse hotels we've stayed at in our extensive travel experience. The sink was not functional at all. When you tried to wash your hands, water went everywhere but in the sink. The bed was so squeaky it would wake up the other person, also it was very uncomfortable which affected our sleep, which consisted of only few hours of broken sleep. The squeaky bed was not only in our room, because of the paper thin walls we heard the people next to us getting some afternoon delight. The power on sound for the TV was very loud. When the other rooms use their shower it makes a loud humming noise. We thought it was an old vacuum cleaner, because it was so loud. There was just a general state of disrepair through the whole room, like worn rugs, curtain rods falling off their hooks, worn out bed, and the faucet loose and swiveling. We talked to a few other couples, who expressed the same issues. A positive was the young lady serving the breakfast (JoAnn, I think), who was pleasant and helpful. We understand that the primary draw to the hotel is its proximity to Yellowstone, but my spouse was having a wonderful day in the park, which was dampened by this hotel. You should remember that the customer experience is just as important as the proximity to the park. read more

Location is decent; it's right near the Yellowstone Park gate, but let's be real -- this town is tiny and nothing is actually more than a mile from the gate. This place is very outdated. It tries to retain its western saloon feel but it's really just old and shabby to the point where it actually feels very unclean. The room has zero sound protection from the street or the hallway. None of the employees are wearing masks during COVID. They have signs saying masks are required but there is zero enforcement. Also, how are you going to have the pool and fitness center open during a pandemic?!! They obviously don't take the situation seriously and it is terrifying. STAY AWAY. read more

I looked at the other reviews before writing this and agree with this much. The place is not a modern stamp-em out motel and if you want the Hilton experience, stay at a Hilton. But this is a small town in the western high plains and this hotel fits the town. It's dated and just a bit threadbare but we found it generally clean and didn't run into obviously uncleaned spaces in our room. In fact, a bit of a disinfectant smell when we first entered. The continental breakfast offered a variety of choices (for western Montana small town hotel). What struck us was the overt politics of the ownership. Staff uniformly did not mask up, Fox News 24/7 on a big screen in the lobby, etc. If most of your guests are masked, I would think true host courtesy would be to reciprocate for the comfort of your guests. read more

A/C unit broke 2 times and had to sleep with window open in the middle of winter when it was 4 degrees outside. Didn't have someone to fix the unit at night so we could sleep comfortably.
