I haven't tried anything in the front, this review is for the bar in the back. I came in here with a friend the other day, I got two coronas and a Cesar salad for $27 before tax and tip. The Cesar was really good, lots of pepper so if you don't like spice it might not be for you, but I would come back for that salad. The bar tender was really nice even though we ended up talking for a while after we ordered our last drink. I sat at the bar which was nice but nothing special, they also had coaches. Deli with a speakeasy?!!! Came here for the Reuben, but was caught checking out the happy hour specials. There's a velveteen curtain next to the deli that I otherwise wouldn't have noticed that leads to a large bar/speakeasy area. Food was delivered to us in the back as I enjoyed the ambiance. Service was friendly and welcoming. Oh right -the Reuben, the reason I was here to begin with was quite delicious. The triple decker is made with Cole slaw, ask for kraut if you're looking for tang. Food 4.5/5 - I am judging this Deli based on its genre. For a sit down deli this was an excellent Reuben sandwich, good portions, solid amount of fries, yummy dressing. The bread tasted like rye but wasn't marbled, not sure why. They also had some pre-made paninis and hot bar items I did not try. Ambiance 4/5, classic New York mix between a diner and a deli with seating for about 15 people. I saw some young couples here on dates which was cute. It's definitely a spot for people who live here not tourists trying to have a flashy time. It was reasonably crowded (I grabbed the last seat at 3pm on a weekday) but I could see it being packed during a lunch rush. Service 5/5 - everyone was super friendly. They gave me honey mustard on the side and were prompt with the service. I discovered the speakeasy over the Summer but only could fully appreciate the pub in back today. Was nearby so I stopped in during Happy Hour at 6:10pm. Pulled up to the bar between a white bearded bartender just 4 feet away but he never greeted me or acknowledged me. There was a much younger gal mixing drinks for the back room and her only concerns were mixing those drinks and the guy chatting her up. People came in, wave after wave, some whitebeard apparently knew but still he refused to turn his eyes 15 degrees in my direction and ask me what I would like. Friendly people behind the counter, tons of options, and everything looked good. My nieces both had smoked turkey sandwiches with Brie. Bacon, egg, hash brown, toast platter all spot on and filling- perfectly cooked eggs, bacon nice and crispy and lota of, two hash brown patties, and toast was whole wheat by default - which I like!
