This is another one of those places with the exception of 1 or 2 ladies at the front, who have no customer service skills, no warm and fuzzies here, but eh, it is just to check in and move on. They have on site daycare (Not sure if it is open yet, Covid) and for a reasonable cost and no contracts. Excellent tennis courts, including clay courts. Great tennis teams. Great tennis pro. Great year-round lessons for adults and kids. Wonderful tennis camps, both full and half day. Nice shaded viewing area. Pool- super fun! Two diving boards, basketball hoop in shallow end, separate (newly redone) baby pool with zero entry. New bathrooms. Snack bar has good selection of reasonably priced food and ice cream. Plenty of shade to spend the day in a lounge chair ( they are plentiful). Picnic tables- perfect for ordering pizza delivery! Discretion and no bottles tends to be the alcohol un-official policy. Fun swim team. Great swim instruction. Not a quiet pool, lots of friendly families, but not overcrowded. Lots of fun social activities! Long waiting list for membership. If you are thinking you might want to join a pool or think you may have children one day that might want to join a pool, put your name on the wait list now, because if you don't live in Barclay Downs, there are 250 names ahead of you already.

Lots of parking available, the gym smells clean when you enter. Professionals at the desk welcome you when you enter. The gym has these nice color combinations on the walls I'm really digging it. Keeps you up with all these beautiful bright colors on the walls. I notice the pictures don't do justice when you see them online, it's when you're here you get to see how big and spacious this gym really is. I honestly just got my membership haven't fully walked around the gym. The machines i wanted to use were at the front so I kind of just went to them. I liked how they had multiple machines of the same ones so no one has to wait to use em, that's one thing I think many gyms lack. U have to wait around and fish for a machines to use and be on the look out no one takes your spot. I liked how the machines were lined across and a perfect amount of space in between the machines. I went for biceps and triceps and a few other machines and I honestly had an amazing time. I also notice they have a basketball court that's really nice indoors court love it. Next time I'll go I'll go further down and see what else they have. So far so good will highly recommend this gym to anyone one new on the area like myself. The membership was at a good price for the quality and equipment this gym offers. Really happy and satisfied on the choice I made signing up here. My issue is with the property management where the gym is located. The property owner and management need to be held accountable for the poor conditions such as potholes in the parking lot. Trash, poorly maintained landscaping and homeless encampments. On the Farm Pond Lane entry at the FC sign is a homeless encampment beside the sign. This is a poor reflection on the tenant's when the property manager is not doing its part to make the area pleasant and inviting. The Albemarle Road area has been classified as a corridor of opportunity which entitles business owners with opportunities to make positive upgrades in their property, such as façade improvements. These are grants that businesses can apply for to make capital improvements. These property management should consider this type of opportunity. The members that patronize FC deserve better. Please put pressure on the management to improve the surroundings.

I was nervous at first but Linda made me feel more comfortable and relaxed about getting in the deep part of the pool. Once I was at easy about the pool....the class was Awesome Sauce! For the record I had on Birkenstocks and I wear these shoes all the time to the gym and they've never said ANYTHING nor have I ever had an issue. I understand it's for safety to have fitted shoes but I don't always bring extra shoes with me every where I go, especially because I was just tryna make a quick stop to work out after running errands all day. A YMCA membership is not cheap, respectfully they shouldn't be kicking their guest out for not having proper attire. If they're going to do this provide backup attire or at least give me a warning for next time.‍ Fortunately the woman was kind about it but she didn't even allow me to work out since I was already there!! She kept apologizing like that's gonna give me my time back, this is my only day off and I don't have time to drive back and forth over some shoes.

On Friday night I discovered the Charlotte Athletic Club durning a google search. Unfortunately they did not have pricing information online however I was able to submit a request and Steve texted me 1st thing Saturday morning to book a tour the same day. The GYM is just amazing! It's clean, with a ton of equipment and space for a stress feee workout. The locker rooms are upgraded and include both a sauna, and a steam room! I am so glad that I made the pivot to this gym! The energy is amazing, the staff is friendly and there are a ton of classes and free perks included in the membership! 5 stars is not enough! I rank this gym a 10 !
