This is a nice 2 story place. They have huge screens all over the place giving out a vibe that this is a sports bar. The bar looks very modern, trendy and clean which you dont see in a lot of spots bars. They have a wide variety of drink selection and the prices are comparable to a lot of places in that strip. The staff was friendly and accomudating. We were here for the halloween week and was very impressed about this place. Its like any sports bar you could expect to find in Wrigleyville except greatly upgraded. If it was transplanted to Wrigleyville, I think it'd be one of many of the most popular bars there. So if its games you'd like to be catching, here's a spot in the WP, you could catch it at. Afternoons are more sausage filled due to games. The weekend evening is when the vibe is different and tends to draw the crowds like which used to attend the lounge which was here previously. Food is alright and fairly priced since most burgers, salads and sandwiches come with a side. Try the tots & they give you plenty. Most of their selections are priced between $6 and $13 dollars. The Fried Chicken sandwich is decent though you may like to ask if they can add a sauce to it or keep the slaw on the side. They also offer nightly booze and food specials. As a whole, it's okay, to me at least. It's a nice enough bar. The interiors and washrooms are kept very clean and its details are all new looking. I think it's the feeling from a few of the bartenders or the door guy. An inability to connect with everyone. (There's one door guy here that is an ass, but that's another story.) It's not as inviting or social able. There tends to be a group vibe, many of which know each other but for the random passersby, not as inviting. Essentially, I would probably have an inexpensive but decent meal in the future but would I have it as a destination bar with friends? Probably not. That's the thirty's me speaking. The food wasn't the best at this bar- it was pretty standard ha ha. I got the fried chicken salad with buffalo sauce, since the normal buffalo chicken salad came with grilled chicken. It was tasty with the buffalo sauce, but the fried chicken was pretty meh for fried chicken. Fun bar spot to watch games and chill with a group during the day though. Went here to watch the Cubs game, they have a great vibe for sports watching with a crew. Guacamole was great and had a little spice which I like! Tacos I thought were a little overstuffed, could have been split into 4 tacos which would also be great for sharing. Still very tasty steak! read more

We just moved into the neighborhood and this is our favorite local bar. They play all the sports games and the food is great. They have plenty of outdoor dining seating and the inside is heavily ventilated as well (if your concerned about indoor dining). The cheese curds are a must if you are just having a few drinks. Our favorite thing on the menu is their wings, they're HUGE. We just recently had the BBQ wings and those are equally good or if not better than the buffalo. Good food absolutely no complaints. This is real sports bar so they will put on any game you want which is great. Service can be a bit slow when it is busy, 1 bartender does not seem like enough on peak times. To the management: Please get a place where you can plug your phone in. There are none unless you flag down the already overwhelmed bartender...This is 2023. I wish we could go back to the land line days. Been here a few times and can always get a table. Just don't try to go during an LSU game. Most recent time got the southwest wrap with tater tots. Pleasantly surprised as I didn't remember the food being that good. But the wrap tasted exactly how I expected (and wanted) it to taste. Which is exactly what you want a bar. read more

As an LSU graduate finding there was an LSU style bar in Chicago was an unexpected find. During my visit I was met by really friendly management and wait staff, who were incredibly accommodating and really made an effort to make sure we were satisfied and enjoying our visit. I've been here a few times for drinks, only once for food. After nixing Whiskey Business down the street because it was packed, we picked Standard since they had outdoor seating (it was one of the first nice days of the spring). Our server was attentive at first, but the service got slower as the night went on (we think she had the entire inside plus the patio to serve), but we weren't in a huge rush so it's wasn't a huge deal. They had $3 Blue Moon drafts (count me in!) and $5 quesadillas. We got a quesadilla to share among the table, and then each got a salad for ourselves. The salads were chock-full of ingredients, which I liked, and we all enjoyed ours. Sitting on the patio can get noisy, as Milwaukee Avenue is behind you, but that's not really Standard's fault, just a fact of where it's located. When I've been here for drinks later on weekend nights, it's always packed (almost too much so), but that's to be expected in that area. read more

The last two times I've had to go up to the bar to get another drink because the waitress is nowhere to be found. This was the "Nachos" that we're $10. Just a plate of chips. HELLO! HELLO! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!! That's how loud the music is at Standard Bar and Grill. I really wanted to visit this space when I walked by and it looked fun. I was definitely wrong. I could barely hear myself think in this spot. The atmosphere is ok, but nothing special. There are different areas of the bar/restaurant that make this spot seem disjointed. I'm not sure where the DJ came from, but the night I was there, the DJ was terrible! While I could maybe deal with the excessively loud volume (though, no one was dancing...), I couldn't deal with the music. I am pretty sure that I didn't even hear one song all the way through, which would be fine if the music didn't seem so frenetic! Prices were ok and I have to say that the wine pours were generous, but this is not a spot I will be returning to if I can help it. read more

Just visited here last week for the first time and i was so impressed by the staff, hospitality and service. There are TVs lining the whole bar so you can catch any game or event you want! they have a huge garage door that opens up to give natural light and warmth. The open window leading out to the sidewalk was inviting enough for me to stop in here for a drink and a bite to eat. I planned on ordering to go but eh, why not, I took a seat at the bar and stayed a while. The lady at the bar was pleasant enough but she wasn't good per se. I asked for her opinion/preference between the turkey chili nachos and the grilled chicken melt. This wasn't a brain teaser but it was as if nobody had ever asked her anything about anything before. Her response was literally that the melt came with a side, so if you wanted a side I should go with that. Huh? What does that have to do with how good it tastes? Now if she had said she didn't know because she's a vegetarian and hadn't eaten either of those two options off of the menu I would have understood. But after asking her again she had, had both. She was just... clueless I guess. Moving on, I had the turkey chili nachos. I'm not even a nachos person like that but they were GOOD. The plate was enormous and I took the leftovers home with me just out of principal but who really wants to eat soggy, day-old nachos? I also had a Stella on draft which tasted a bit flat, but it was a steamy hot day so I enjoyed how cold it was. Anyway, I had my go-to sports bar in my last neighborhood... My boyfriend and I live in the neighborhood and come here every time there's a UFC fight - $10 cover, and we get drinks, appetizers, dinner, etc., so we spend a fair amount. We showed up tonight to watch the UFC fights, not realizing that it's only being shown on ESPN+. When we arrived we asked the doorman if they were showing the fights, and he told us it was $10 each for the fights. We went upstairs and quickly realized by "fights" he meant boxing fights, not UFC. We immediately headed back down and he very crisply told us it was our fault for not specifying UFC fights and there were absolutely NO refunds. Another couple walked in for "the fights" and were about to pay when we told them it was boxing not UFC (they were also only there for UFC). Clearly we were not the only ones confused by the door guy's vagueness of what we were purchasing. We will never be back. read more

Standard Bar is our favorite place to go. We can now call this place our third space. Work, home and Standard Bar. I surprised the wife and bridal party before our wedding by stopping by here to take a few pictures and have an O-bomb. We had our fantasy football draft here and Dan took care of us. We finally know most of the people here and are greeted like friends. I plan on coming to Standard for as long as I can. We always had the goal of becoming regulars somewhere ever since we were youngins, I think we finally did it. I plan on coming here Friday for my birthday and the burger deal for $25. For the most part, all Wicker Park bars (at least on Milwaukee ave) are all the same; just some dinky, dark divey spot to grab a large amount of brews to get blackout drunk while playing your heart out on pool. Standard Bar & Grill stands out at least, even though it is merely a...well, a standard bar and grill. It is pretty on the inside at least, with two floors worth of seating and sports watching. First floor is absolutely huge, with a huge ceiling and a dancefloor that apparently comes out for the weekends. Second floor is slightly smaller, but still some room for some booths and a bar. Unfortunately, the bar on the second floor doesn't offer the same amount of drafts as the first floor, but nevertheless, this bar offers a huge list of brews for the beer aficionados. Food was alright here. I only had some apps each time I went here. The cheese curds were alright as bar food goes, and the quesadillas were adequate. Absolutely nothing special. I'm just here for the brews and sports. Went here for a couple Bears games, but the energy was everything I expected: big! I always enjoy trying out different spots in Wicker Park, and it's nice to see something different in this neighborhood, such as a sports bar. Will think about coming back for the next big game in the upcoming future. read more

It took us quite a while to become "known" to the staff and once that happened, the place became our favorite! We used to live only a 20 minute walk from the bar and we would go almost every Friday for their $20 burger and drink deal. Now we live in the suburbs and drive all the way to the city for this place, no matter what the day! They do have a deal every day, but the Friday deal is the best. The bar is very clean and spacious. There are 4 washrooms, which is very convenient coming from a woman. The bar is rarely not packed due to the amount of televisions they have. The quesadilla is by far my favorite thing on the menu, it's like no other. But, I have tried other things and I must say, for a bar, the food is outstanding. They actually fry the shrimp when you order it instead of just dumping it out of a frozen bag. We went here for our wedding pictures if that further confirms our support of this place! read more

The Standard is a stone's throw from my place, and the awesome service and drink prices keep me coming back. It's a great venue to watch the game with a few brewskis. The energy there is contagious during playoff season. You can't help but stop and watch (like the cops outside). Unfortunately, I would have to say the food is hit or miss. Their veggie burger leaves something to be desired but I'd gladly go back for their Sardou eggs Benedict. On Thursdays, they have 2 for 1 apps and I highly recommend you try that out. Personally, I've never had anything from their starters menu that's been a disappointment. Standard comes from the Cortland's Garage family of restaurants, and since I'm a regular at Cortland's (it's around the corner from our house), I thought I would give the Wednesday burger special a run to see if there's any difference. Sadly, there is not. On burger night, $5 gets you a cheeseburger and a big round of fries or tater tots. The tots are incredible, and $1 off the Not Your Father's Root Beer was very helpful. But this burger is smaller and even worse that the one I'm apt to grab at Cortland's on a Monday. I left full, but not fulfilled...I'm not sure I'd come back given that Cortland's is a 30-second walk from home, but Standard has outdoor space when it gets warm and I love the way all of the windows open up when the summer hits. Come on Standard...make that burger bigger! read more

Let's start of by saying that Standard has become our go to spot to start our night or simply just to catch up with friends. We have been coming here for years and always enjoyed the food, drinks, and music. What really sells this place is the staff, the staff is attentive and super friendly. So Friday night when we arrived, and we didn't see any familiar faces, besides Crystal (best server in town btw, she's always taken great care of us!). We've come to find out that the bar has new management, safe to say that I don't see myself coming back. A bar is a bar and I can get the same beer from here that I can get anywhere else, once you get rid of great staff, well the bar loses its charm. read more

I've been here a few times, but most recently to watch a sporting event (Canelo vs. GGG) and I definitely plan to make this my go-to for other sporting events! We came here around 7:30pm and we were able to grab a table easily. There was a $20 cover (pretty decent considering other bars needed table reservations/minimum spending). Our server Shane (sorry if I misspelled that) was great! Very attentive, and always made sure to ask for refill when our beer was getting low. The downside was that the food was not great... we ordered bbq wings and a pepperoni pizza. We asked to return the pizza (and our server was so understanding) and brought us nachos instead - but the nachos were still not appetizing. The bar also used paper to cover their glass window so outsiders couldn't watch the fight from outside - completely understandable, but the paper just kept on falling on us. For future events, I'm sure there is a better way to cover the window. read more

Met a friend here for dinner one night. I liked the food and service. I ordered the tacos and they were great. I also ordered a few beers. Standard Bar/Grill opened in May, just in time for us to go and watch some Bulls playoff games. The space inside is huge, including a second level, and decorated with gorgeous dark wood. The guys at the door were kind of weird to every person in our group who came in, asking if they were meeting someone or they had a reservation... which was odd.. bc hello... you're a sports bar. There are TVs everywhere in there. Well, later on we realized they were probably just trying to manage the chaos because it was SO packed during the game. Still, they could have probably gone about it better. Drink specials were good. You could get all the cheap beers in buckets. Actually, some friends even got buckets of locally brewed, Daisy Cutter. And I thought the food was good too. I got a veggie burger (portobello, black beans, lentils, brown rice, tomato, beet, avocado, red pepper mayo, whole grain bun) with a side salad. Nothing crazy, but the veggie burger was delicious. You could tell they made it in-house. It wasn't some frozen Boca burger that they microwaved I would not go back unless I was going to watch some sports, probably. It seems to be the main focus of the place, with all of the TVs. SERVICE: Not good. We went last night to watch the Cubs' game - yes, it was busy but not CRAZY busy. I had to pour water myself for all my refills, I had to go to the bar to order food and my boyfriend had to take the empty bottles of beer and empty plates to the bar. The bartender/waitress kept talking to her friends and needless to say, barely checked on our table. FOOD: Good. The Cheese Quesadilla was good and the BBQ Chicken would have been awesome if the bread wasn't burnt. Waffle fries were delicious. I enjoy stopping by Standard. They have enough TV's to accommodate seeing any important game, and a varied enough menu of bar food standards to accommodate most people in a group of friends. And the kitchen is open pretty late (I think it's open until 11:00). More often than not, while sitting at the bar I end up in a interesting conversation. I would say this place is above and beyond standard!! The bartender was really friendly and quick to serve us. I ordered the Jameson chipotle BBQ wings. Anytime there's a unique flavor like that, I'm all for trying it. They were amazing!! They had a little pinch but weren't too spicy for my mild taste buds. They came out drenched in sauce which normally I wouldn't care for but this sauce was so good I would've bathed in it or used it as a facemask (which I did unintentionally). Tried a bite of the Mac and cheese burger and pulled pork also, both were equally awesome. The Mac and cheese burger had the spiral noodles also not the Kraft kind (which I've had at some restaurants). They have a lot of big tvs and one of my favorite beers (summer shandy) was the beer of the month so only $4. You already had me with the wings, now I'm in love! read more
