This is the best hospital cafeteria. By the front entrance , it has a poster for special meals for Monday to Friday . Each day has a different kind of food : breakfast fried rice , burrito bowl jicama corn salad , the Chester " between and smash burger and a Pattie melt toasty cheeseburger hybrid ; fattoush salad ; and Friday from 10:30 am to 8 pm , it serves Hainanese Chicken with rice . They use helath ingredients and fresh vegetables and fruits . There are also some ready made food for grasp and go , if you do not have time , you can purchase it and pay. Like two types of breakfast burrito ( sausage and veggies) Ready to go salads , tuna and salad cups , fruits cups , cheese sticks, boiled eggs , vegetable & juice mixed drink . They and fresh and warm bakery section for bagel , croissant,muffin , Danish , etc The cooking are healthy and tasty . Drinks are available as hot coffee and a wide selection of caffeinated drinks , juice , soft drinks , etc It is clean and convenient. Restroom near by. Peaking structure are just across the street . Super delicious food and a quiet atmosphere. I started with the lentil soup and it took me back to Turkey , then I had the green diamond salad it was absolutely delicious with so many ingredients and great flavors, I also tried the Steak Sandwich, that was sooo good. And lastly I had the yummy Lemon Meringue. The stuff was super friendly and is service is excellent and quick. Wow - who knew the Stanford Hospital has an excellent sit down restaurant?! A family member recently had an extended stay in the hospital and we did not discover it until our last day - wish we had found it earlier! For a few dollars more than the standard offerings on the ground floor cafeteria, this restaurant is a great value for the quality of the food. Located on the third floor, it has floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the main entrance with the large round sculpture. Compared to the cafeteria, it is a serene and calm setting, with tablecloths, fresh flowers and attentive service. I had the Salad Nicoise. For $20, it contained an impressive amount of perfectly seared ahi and was well dressed. My mom had the Mezze platter and it was also outstanding and very generous. They offer free bread if you want it. Our total bill was $38 - a steal! The seasonal special is served buffet style - the rest of the dishes are made to order and brought to the table. At the end of our meal we had a very nice talk with Manager Timothy. He said the hospital wants to give people a nice place to have a relaxing meal at an affordable price as a way of giving back. What a nice sentiment. They are open M-F from 11-2 and they do close for private functions - use the Yelp reservation tool to make sure there is availability. We'll be back! read more

I work in 500 Pasteur at the new Stanford Hospital, and I finally had a chance to grab lunch at the Dining Room. The service is superb and it is nice to be able to sit down and enjoy a meal instead of grabbing a sandwich in the cafeteria. The menu is not extensive but still offers a good number of choices. I had a salad with citrus and fennel and added steak as a protein, but next time I will try it with salmon. Was expecting buffet but it is not offered today, so I got a tri-tip sandwich instead, it comes with a side option; fair up-scale pricing (table clothed dining room!), good presentation, right amount of chimichurri sauce -- appreciate that it is not soaked in sauce. Would be better if buffet offering days could be more clear/posted somewhere. There seem not be an outdoor seating option as seen, unlike the old dig, but there's ample room during non-rushed hour. If you think the regular Stanford cafeteria is overpriced and crappy, wait until you sink your teeth into the Bing. This sneaky cafeteria tries to disguise itself by using tablecloths, but don't be fooled. Just because the tables are camouflaged in white cloth does not mean you're dining out. As a surgical resident, I tried most of their buffet food, on occasions when I was basically starving to death, and I didn't have to pay, and I still didn't love it. Insider tip: for the price of the buffet ($15), eat the Bing burger instead. It is almost the size of a buffet by itself and is made from some unholy amalgamation of ground animals (pork and beef?). I don't know why they needed to do that, but as long as you don't dwell on decoding which animal you predominately taste with each bite, you'll like it. As far as preparation, the default is to autoclave it for an hour, so you'll need to ask to see blood. Medium rare doesn't violate any biohazard codes. Truffle fries are a suitable side show, although the sweet potato fries also taste like food. Also, try the lemonade. It is a radioactive yellow color that would pass for plutonium in a Simpsons episode. Some people also like the steak sandwich for $14. I personally just go to Nexus, which is a Stanford food court with at least ten kinds of food--and, yes, the menu supports having pigs and cows commingle on your palate. read more

Who would have thought a hospital having a fancy dining room that offers great food; it just doesn't seem to go together. Every day of the week they have a lunch buffet for $16 dollars that offers a variety of choices. They also have a regular menu that has a great variety of California cuisine. I highly recommend the Bing burger which is Kobe style beef. The crab cake is very good too and a great size. The Tuesday lunch buffet was somehow lacking something. Perhaps it was because we arrived at 1PM and the food had been out for a while. I found the salmon to be just a tiny bit dry, the kale quinoa had a bit too much oil and salt (did I grab a scoop from the bottom of the tray?), the asparagus a bit chunky and slightly cafeteria-like in character. Pros: - Salad and fruit are always pretty tasty - It is somewhere other than the cafeteria - I am a sucker for their desserts -I am a sucker for bread Cons: - Selection limited on a given day: 3-4 choices for entree/sides, a soup and salad in buffet. I have had better luck ordering a la carte - Sometimes in the buffet, dishes run out and are not refilled. The Bing dining room is not just any standard dining room. This place was originally built as a Physician's lounge back in the day but it is now a full service restaurant inside the main hospital. It is a hidden gem among staff members but it is also open to patients and other visitors. We've had several events held here and every single time, we've been treated like Royalty. The Executive Manager, Kiran, is an expert in world-class service. She delivers the best menu possible and ensures top quality each time. The staff here is also very well-mannered and only delivers professional service, with a smile, to all who enters. Ask for Tim and he will take care of you. Whether you're hosting lunch from visitors or a full-blown event, they deliver only the best service. The lunch buffet varies day-to-day but they also have a standard menu that you can choose from. This review is mainly on the service, the food was delicious, I had a steak sandwich and my mother had the shrimp mango. I've been working for Stanford for over 14 years, my mother is retiring next week from Cardiovascular Technology department and she's been wanting to try the food a the Bing Dining Room. Yesterday we finally made it to lunch and the service was horrible, our waiter was Timothy when we arrived but by the time we left Carlos was the one who really took care of our needs. Timothy's lack of attention for our table in not asking if we wanted more ice tea or diet coke or letting us know that our food would be up shortly was alarming, especially since I hear that many facility dine here. Timothy was short with his answers, no eye contact, he stayed at the hostess area talking to coworkers, and he didn't smile. He was quick to take my credit card but he didn't bring it back to our table, it was Carlos that said thank you and have a nice afternoon. I did ask Carlos who gets the tip I leave, he said we all do. Carlos was also the one that delivered our food after I asked him what was taking so long since Timothy was no where to be found. I was very disappointed for my mother and for myself on the lack of service by the staff at Bing Dining Room. That will be my last time dining at Bing! read more

We always receive excellent service when booking reservations with the Bing Dining Room at Stanford. We book lunch reservations for our faculty members and visitors and they allow us to charge the meals to our corporate card they keep on file. I would like if they would automatically email us the itemized receipt after the meal, but we do have to ask for it after every meal, which is OK considering the high level of service we receive. read more

Buffet food was disgusting. The tom yang soup is supposed to be sour but it tasted like water. The cucumber salad was not good, you will not even come back for second helpings. No bokchoy , one chafing dish empty. The fruits were not even sweet. My lemonade tasted like water. Ordered chocolate cake at the end but it wasn't good, too.
