Beware the bait and switch. I got a quote from "Amanda" on 2/13. I had asked them to send someone to put the quote together but she said they do quotes over the phone only. I specifically told her how many stairs there were and how they were configured. When "Casey" arrived, he refused to honor the quote and said that because the stairs were broken up in sections, there would be a 20% additional charge. (This put the "real" price well over a quote from Coit, who did the quote in person.) At this point I had already spent the better part of a day moving furniture, etc., and had arranged to be home for the day to accommodate Stanley's schedule. I complained immediately to the company and was told "a manager will be reaching out to you shortly." No response. The technician was very aggressive and spent the entire time he was here trying to sell me additional and unnecessary services and offering "free demos" of services I told him I did not want. He also refused to take any action on stains that I showed him ahead of time unless I agreed to the "Protection" and "Deodorize" add-ons. (The carpeting is only a year old.) The stains were unchanged following the "regular" cleaning. Do not use this service. read more

Normally I would have thrown the employee out, but needed the service done BEWARE OF THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICE. They pulled this in 2023 as well. Will find another provider when the need arises. This morning I called Stanley Steemer to get an estimate on duct cleaning. The young woman I spoke to was pleasant, but said she could not even give a ballpark range for duct cleaning. If I wanted to find out the cost, I had to make an appointment and meet with a technician, and then I would get an estimate. As I told her, this is not a good way of doing business. It forces the homeowner to invest a lot of time and energy before they can even get a simple ballpark estimate. Needless to say, you can bet that the estimate will be higher than you like, but there you are, having invested all of this sunk time and energy... I told her I didn't like that way of doing business and will go elsewhere. Stanley Steemer managers, if you want to contact me and give me a simple ballpark-range estimate for a house with 1050 ft.² and 8 flexible ducts attached to a forced air furnace that was installed in 2018, feel free to message me through Yelp. We had our 4 yr old carpet steam cleaned and they do work fast. I noticed that they do wear shoe cover but they take it off outside where it's dirty and uses them to enter the house luckly the final step of steaming was steaming from the furthest location towards the door. I would still recommend their service. Just keep in mind that not an ideal when you work from home due to noise. read more

Greg Samuel did my carpets today, and I couldn't be happier. I had another company come out to address a stain in the office, and they quit, didn't charge me and said they weren't able to get the stain out. Next, I called Stanley Steemer and had someone try to take the stain out a year ago, and they were not successful. Today, however, Greg was able to spray the stain with some remover and agitate it a bit and lo and behold that stain came out. before having his service today, I was actually preparing to replace a large cut out portion of the carpet. Terrible assessment, inspection, manager oversight and recommendation. Then when I called the office, everyone was in a meeting and no one able to provide additional support. We requested cleaning of hardwood floor, upon inspection they said there was wax build up and manger did an assessment through pictures then recommend an $800 dollar service to clean. The concern they had with "wax-build up" was not, it was sticky dirt build up , which easily came up with soap/water solution and a non abrasive dish sponge, we were able to clean what technician and manager assessed as an $800 acid wash and steam clean! This could have easily been taken care of during our initial appointment. This is very unfortunate that a manger over the phone assessed the floor and recommended an $800 clean, without physical inspection, a total waste of time! We had Stanley Steamer clean our carpets in Nov 2022. The technician was very friendly and really nice to deal with. But during the process a lamp got knocked over and the shade broke. The tech said just to call and send in a receipt and they will reimburse you with no problem. So we did that but never got reimbursed. And I called several times and they said they sent a check out and we never received it. So I asked to speak to a manager several times. They said they would call me back and never did.I said I would take them to small claims court and never heard a word. Stevie came to our house at two different times for services. Once was for air duct cleaning and second was to sanitize a mold issue that we had. If I could give them a negative 100 I would. On June 16th of this year, I had their technician come out to repair the carpet bubbling that had occurred from their last visit (end of May). The carpet needed to be re-stretched in a bedroom, closet and stairs. The technician that arrived caused major damage, didn't wear a mask and was heard cursing under his breath. He caused deep gashes in my floorboards along the entire length of the areas he worked in and damaged a phone cord in the bedroom. When he "finished" his job, he neglected to clean up the debris he left behind. Since June 16th, I have called the company, specific location and left messages on the MANAGER's voicemail (Joe I think) nearly a dozen times to resolve the issues but haven't heard back from anyone- it's been over 3 MONTHS!!! The only person who called back was a gentleman from their corporate office who said he couldn't do anything except leave a message for the manager to call me back because it's a franchise location. Even still, I HAVE NOT HEARD back from anyone. With covid, I cannot afford the cost to repair the damage THEY caused. This property is now a rental and our money is tight. I have been a loyal customer for years and am in complete shock. I'm simply livid and want them to repair the damage. Stanley Steamer came out yesterday to clean my wood laminate floors, my carpets and my couch. The carpets and couch were well done. But, they literally RUINED my laminated floors! The technician said there was wax on it and the floors needed to be stripped an additional thousand dollars! So trusting his expertise I agreed. He called me an hour later and said I better come look at them they were horribly scrubbed scratched and all the finish was taken off them. I had another floor person come look at them who advised they were ruined no way to repair. I am sick about it! read more

First time using Stanley Steamers Carpet Cleaning Services today. The two technicians Tony & David were very professional, friendly and courteous. I had a total of 5 rooms plus stairs cleaned. They took great care to move small items of furniture if they needed to and placed it back in its place after cleaning the carpet. They even placed the legs of furniture on sliders to prevent staining the carpet after it was cleaned. David explained there process and fees ahead of time, so there were no surprises. He asked if I had any questions. He also provided helpful tips on what not to put on stains in the future. Offered information on how to prevent pet stains from becoming permanent! Even suggested that I get my carpet re-stretched in the areas where it was loosened. They went above and beyond my expectations! I will definitely use their services again in the future. Mediocre Job, I had to ask repeatedly to go over certain surfaces again in order to clean some of the spots. The answer was "this is the best it can be done". Spots where cleaned after he went over them again. I told them to vacuum the carpet against the baseboards but apparently they have no tools for that so I was left with a lint line where the carpet meet the baseboard. I had to vacuum myself to prevent this issue in the other rooms. I've been told that I need to request 2 guys if I want them not to robe the hoses against my walls corners to not get them dirty. The steps that he cleaned for both stair cases where left with a dark line a the the edge of the thread. Apparently there is no way to clean that section. I used Stanley before but I'm not planing to do it again. I had 2 different operators in the house this time, they came in 2 different vans, they had the exact same opinion when I raised my concerns so I'm assuming this is the way most of the guys are approaching there projects. The level of attention to details was mediocre at best. read more

I just have to start by saying that when they left my house, there was this weird haze in the house including all the rooms! Also there was some sort of soft dust on every surface in the bedrooms. I asked the guys if there is going to be any dust left and they said NO!! I have pictures to prove how much dust they left. They came in and didn't even bother to cover the ducts!! Aren't they supposed to cover the vents?? Well they didn't. Basically they pushed every single particle that was supposed to be sucked out into other ducts and vents into the house again. I mentioned to the guys that my kids is sick and are you sure there will be no dust!!! My kids asthma kicked in and it was a nightmare. Ended up in ER! They mentioned once we turn on the thermostat there will be some dust but we havent and there were so much soft dust and haze in the house that we had to open all windows and leave the house. So Stanley steamer came out on June 30, 2017.. I was a bit embarrassed to have them come out because my carpets were so filthy. I honestly believed they need to be replaced. Well the fellow worked pretty hard and when he left I was so happy and so was my wife which made me even happier. Carpets look so much better than before. Well unfortunately my wife found the section of carpet that he had omitted cleaning and we called back to have another technician come out. July 1 2017 Once this technician cleaned that forgotten area he started cleaning spots that the original technician had said he couldn't clean. Now all of a sudden we now have a carpet that's almost white with white spots. This second technician- Kris Coleman- cleaned the entire carpet again for us at no charge and made the entire room look way better. Thank you Kris for going the extra miles worth of work. If you're calling Stanley Steemer to have your carpets cleaned, ask for Kris Coleman. He takes pride in his work and is a good representative of this company. "Tough on dirt, gentle on carpet". Inside our Home (or Happy Zoo as Gayle is fond of saying), we have 2 Cats, 2 Dogs, and an extended family that include 5 Sons and 3 Grandchildren. I personally think they're a bit overpriced, but they are diligent and professional in their approach, and Gayle is happy with the results. If you live in an apartment or condo, do not book with Stanley Steemer. I scheduled an appointment for my 2 bedroom condo carpets to be cleaned and requested a portable cleaner as I live on the second floor. The tech arrives with no portable cleaner. I rescheduled the appointment for a later date. I called a week before the appointment to confirm they would come with a portable cleaner and they said they would. When the tech arrives for the second appointment, they once again did not bring a portable cleaner. The tech blamed their "computer system" for the error. He offered a measly 10% discount but at this point, Stanley Steemer had completely wasted my time (again) and I chose not to reschedule. I will never get my carpet cleaned from Stanley Steemer and will not be recommending this company to anyone I know. read more

1 Star because I can't give a 0 Stars. We initially scheduled an appointment on July 14th for July 28th and our window was from 9AM - 1PM. We scheduled an early morning appointment because we wanted the apartment to dry out all day and also to have the rest of the day to do errands etc. I had to also get up super early because we have animals and needed to secure them elsewhere, anyways... The technician showed up around 12PM and without greeting us or saying "Hello" he only says "I can't clean your carpet cause you guys are on the second floor and you guys are too far from the street." Okay... We called prior to the first appointment and confirmed with the staff that 1. We were on the second floor of a complex and 2. We didn't have dedicated parking and were far away from the street...indicating to them that we would need a portable cleaner. So then we tell the tech that we already alerted them, he just leaves back to his van to see if he can get a portable cleaner. So he comes back and says that according to his manager, they don't have any portable cleaners available and that's it. No offer to reschedule or anything. So we call Stanley Steamers (after he left) in order to reschedule and then get a knock on the door. It's the tech again. He offers to reschedule for us. We were busy the next weekend and so then decide that today (August 11th) will work. The tech understands the situation and knows we need a portable cleaner. So last week (August 2nd) we call them and confirm our appointment -- we didn't get a confirmation email like they said we would when we scheduled with the tech. We again remind them that we need a portable cleaner. SS says there was nothing initially indicating we needed a portable cleaner on our account (go figures) but then says they will mark it permanently on our account so that any time we schedule an appt with them we will have a portable cleaner. So again this morning we get up bright and early, apartment prepped, animals away, for our 8AM - 9AM appt. At 8:50 we call (they're supposed to call 30 mins prior), they say they are 15 - 20 mins away. Tech shows up at 9:15AM, and he let us know he is looking for a place to "setup". We're thinking this is strange because if it's portable then he should be able to bring it up... He scopes out our apartment and tries to figure a way to "setup", he then lets us know he doesn't have a portable cleaner (WHY?!) and he is calling his manager to get one. Finally he says that they can come later in the day (12PM - 4PM) but knowing how they always arrive at the end of the window, and we have plans in the evening we decide to decline. We then ask to reschedule for a different weekend if we can get a discount. Technician asks his manager and offers us a measly 10% discount. We literally had a coupon for $35 (more than 10%) so this was almost disrespectful. We just decided that we are going to do the carpets ourselves because honestly at this point I have no desire to do business with Stanley Steamers ever, and will never recommend to my family or friends here in the Bay Area. I was very disappointed with my tile and grout cleaning today . I choose Stanley Steemer to clean the tile and grout in my newly purchased home. It's a 8 yr old house so not too old. Their quote came in at the midpoint of 3 others so I thought it was reasonably priced. The one star is because of the same day service availability which was good. The 1 other Star is for the half hearted job the technician did on my tile. I wanted a deep cleaning and a clear seal on 5 areas of tile. He told me that my grout was discolored so sealing wouldn't help (in my opinion it was dirty not stained, but hey... I'm not the expert). This was confusing as he was hired to clean and seal the grout in the first place so that revelation was a bit shocking. At first I was grateful for the heads up as this meant I wouldn't pay extra for something that wouldn't help. It became clear however that the issue wasn't just my older grout not being able to get cleaned. This tech appeared lazy, in a hurry and unwilling to try to give me the cleaning I was actually paying for. My suspicion was that he didn't want to seal the floor because of his own time constraints. He did a very rushed poor job. The tech tried to get away with spraying a coat of alkaline cleanser (for literally a mere 5 minutes) followed by a light power wash with zero scrubbing. He said that their products weren't that good because they were all natural so they may not work as good as companies who use better chemicals.He also admitted I could get the same level of cleaning with a solution of vinegar and water(Then why offer the service for $350 Stanley Steemer ?! price gouge much?! ) After allowing me to review the first bathroom I was so disappointed I told him that the floor still looks dirty (I could see visible dirt in the grout lines... not grout stains), and if this was the best he could do he should probably leave now. He then says he can try something else which was to go to the truck and bring in an actual grout cleaning brush (which he should've been using all along! Why did I have to threaten to stop the service for him to do his actual job which should've been whatever was necessary to clean as best he could?!). After watching his work, I noticed the grout brush actually started working in the one area I witnessed him using it, so I allowed him to finish all the floors. I left to go to another room only to learn upon final inspection that he barely used the grout brush except for the area in which I was standing over his shoulder watching. I found several areas when he left that had visible dirt which I removed on my own with my own kitchen scouring pad. Proof that I had just wasted $350. Needless to say I was upset and ended up getting on my hands and knees to finish the job myself. I was also not happy that the tech did not wear the disposable shoe booties I tried to provide and he left shoe marks on the just cleaned floor. When brought to his attention he used an old towel to wipe up the marks, but this isn't sanitary! Now I have to remop this area to disinfect it all over again. So annoying! Normally I would've called the manager to complain immediately, but I did agree to allow him to finish trusting that the grout will look cleaner once it dries as the tech promised. I'm giving the area time to see if this is will be true. Regardless I'm still upset that there were spots of visible dirt though, and I didn't notice this until I had paid and the tech was gone. I will never use this company again. Instead of asking for my money back I'm considering this a $350 lesson learned. Please don't waste your money here if tile floor and grout cleaning is what you need. read more

Carpets look okay after drying. Biggest point of contention was that the price changed when they showed up to the door. I had to rebook my appointment due to a schedule mix-up and when they rebooked, apparently they didn't apply a coupon I'd had in my original invoice. The guy who cleaned the carpets came up with a BS story about the charges, and why they were what they were, and didn't want to call to figure it out. Won't use Stanley Steemer again. read more
