I highly recommend this business. They were a 10/10 for me. Everyone from scheduling to the service technicians were friendly and helpful. I called them to request HVAC duct cleaning then after I scheduled, called back to add my dryer vent. Their pricing was better than the other business that I called and when he explained the service they would provide I just felt better about trying GB. Scheduling was easy. The technicians called 15 minutes before they arrived and were actually early. How often does that ever happen? My ducts and dryer vent had not been cleaned in forever and were really dirty. Boris and his crew had installed our new HVAC unit and ductwork in 2018, and it has worked fine since. We though it would be prudent to have it checked over now, since very hot weather is expected. I called for service, expecting a long wait, but the wait was only a couple of days. Nemanya came out and did a superb job servicing the entire system. He checked the condenser and changed out the capacitor, tested the pressure, checked the temp at the registers, and even went under the house to check on the ductwork. I have a rental in Berkeley. Tenant complained of ineffective heating by the Mini-split heat pump that I had installed by others. I also had two other units that I had installed in new construction but needed activation. I called many contractors, but most were very "exquisite" in terms of acommodating my needs (we only do this this way, we can be there to size up the job between 8:00am and noon, etc). Boris (the owner) went to the site and showed my tenant how to maintain unit (clean the filters regularly). Tenant was very happy and complimented Boris. Boris is excellent! Our a/c wasn't working during the hottest week (so far) in September, and even though it was short notice, Boris fit us in. Both he and his assistant Maya were professional and responsive with every communication. Boris even called the morning of the appointment to give us an ETA and arrived when he said he would (!!) He is friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and efficient and identified the source of the problem quickly. The capacitor needed replacing. He had one with him and installed it right away. He also found there were leaks in the vents and is coming back next week with his team to take care of those. I was referred to Boris by a part manufacturer who doesn't sell directly to the public. Boris is on their list as one of their service providers. From the moment I explained that I needed him to order a part and install it he did not want to help me. He told me he doesn't want to work on my equipment and kept repeating that he doesn't order equipment, he installs it. I explained that I did want him to install it, but that he would need to order it as it is a custom part and he is listed by manufacturer as a dealer/installer of this particular ac equipment. After a couple minutes Boris simply hung up on me. I couldn't believe he could be so rude when I was being so polite. He really struck me as a guy who is not into his customers at all. It's too bad because if this part is unavailable (something he didn't even bother to find out) I'll end up needing an entire ac/heating replacement unit, which could have made him thousands of dollars. We hired GB to install a pretty basic new wall heater. Our old one was in bad shape and really noisy and unreliable. A wall heater isn't the most exciting thing to spend money on but we are super happy we did because it works so much more efficiently and is very quiet. Very good investment and they did a great job and they did it fast. We had one issue with the pilot going out in which we had to call them and come fix it. Boris is a miracle worker and an incredibly fair man. We've used him four times over the past three years (twice for our home and twice for my elderly mother-in-law's home) and have been incredibly impressed by his service. The first time we called him was three years ago for a second opinion on my mother-in-law's furnace, which had stopped working. The first company we called said the unit was unfixable and needed to be replaced (~$4000). We called GB for a second opinion. After an assessment, Boris determined the circuit panel needed to be replaced (~$500). An hour later it was working just fine. The second time was for our AC. We thought we also might have a blown circuit panel. Instead, Boris discovered that we had clogged air filters (our fault!) which was tripping a fuse. Easy & inexpensive fix! We had to call again this week for my MIL's unit and feared this time it might be time to replace. Once again, he was able to replace an old dusty part and clean up the inside and it's working again and she's warm and toasty! He responds very quickly, is clearly trying to solve issues in the most cost-effective way possible, and he's also a super nice guy! HIGHLY recommend GB/Boris for heating and AC issues. read more

Like other 5 stars reviews, I felt the same way on Boris' service. He is very honest, hard working, and he will try to save you as much as he can. I had his service 2017 summer. Yup ! this is a long past-due review. In June 2017, our AC was not working properly. The fan is running but there's no cold air, just hot/warm air came out. I first called this "400+" 5 stars reviews company. The guy seems very knowledge and charged $225 for his 1hr of inspection work and explaining to me and my wife. He sent me a very detailed report and said I have a leak on the coolant line. He quoted $1400 to patch/seal/glue(whatever I forgot) the line but he DOES NOT guarantee it'll last more than 1 year. Then I found Boris, he came with a quick inspection, less than 30 minutes (no charge). and told my wife we just need to refill the coolant. We said the other company found a leak. Boris said, nope, there's no leak, you can either believe me or the other company. So...........we chose Boris because it's CHEAPER, lol. It was ~$400 to refill the coolant. Two weeks after Boris refill the coolant, our AC stop working again. We think "Oh, no! there is really a leak, so in just two weeks AC stops working again" We called Boris and he squeezed some time out from his busy schedule (yup, it was really hot that June) He found out it was the fuse. He quickly changed it and our AC has no problem after that. And he didn't charge us on that big fuse ! Anyway, I hold my review for two years because time will tell! Boris, we are really thankful to have you to fix our AC with the most honest and affordable option. You don't have to message and ask me what's the name of the other one, there's only 1 with 400+ reviews and still have 5 stars. They may be good and professional, but it'll cost you ! I knew at some point I was going to need to replace the 40 year old HVAC system that was installed in my place when I bought it. Got a few quotes over the past year from other providers and was dismayed at how expensive they all were. Then, the system finally died and I had to get a new one installed ASAP. I'm so so happy to have found the GB crew. Gave them a call, they got an estimator out for an inspection within a few hours, confirmed the old system was dead, and got me a quote that was 30% lower than the next lowest quote I had previously received from other installers (for a basic Payne unit with decent efficiency stats and solid build quality). In the past six months I have used GB Heating and Air three times. Once was a roof install of a large commercial air cond unit at the non-profit where I was Finance Director. The pricing was the best in the Bay Area and the job was completed on time in perfect order. Boris and company have been to my home twice. Once to repair the heating unit - once to repair the air cond. Both times they were on time and fixed the problem quickly at a very fair price.
