Too expensive. They will try to make you think you are saving money when they really are going to upcharge you. I was told I would get a free examination, but really it's only when you purchase one of their glasses, and from a specific selection. When I got examined for my prescription, I told the optometrist that I couldn't see with it and she bluntly told me I would get used to it. Really scammy feel. They have a "car salesman" attitude that made me feel uncomfortable the whole time. Had a 10:45 appointment, after sitting in the waiting room for 45 minutes I learned that Stanton Optical does not actually have an optometrist there, I was administered an eye exam over a video camera, making two way communication relatively impossible. After the eye exam, I waited another 45 minutes before eventually leaving and not being helped at all by anyone. I would recommend going elsewhere in College Station if you would like to be helped by a real person in a timely fashion. read more

I was warned not to go here and man, were my friends right. Two weeks ago I went for an exam. I told three employees that I needed my contacts shipped, and I knew no one was listening to me. I even had to remind the receptionist again after I paid for the contacts. I left and got a text a few days later saying to come pick them up. I called them and said AGAIN that I needed them shipped. Still never got them. Called them again, and wanted to talk to a manager. They said they would call me and I never got a call. They said they called me, but I had no missed calls and wouldn't be surprised if they called a wrong number considering their organization. I still don't have my contacts and was told that they would refund the $10 shipping....so, if you come here, make sure you live nearby so you can stop in randomly and remind them to do their job. I visited Stanton's in College Station for my annual eye exam a few weeks ago. If you try to call this location, or any other location for Stanton's it will go directly to their call center in Florida. That was the worst experience for me because they are really not helpful at all. They just want to schedule your appointment, give you a promo on an eye exam (that you find out is not even valid at the location you are going to once you get there), and hang up on you. Luckily the staff at this location made up for it. Although I was told the offer I wanted is not valid at their location, Mark offered me another package. Rating the Optometrist and my overall eye exam experience- Dr.Thomas was nice but did not really explain what she was doing in the beginning of the eye exam. I know it is routine to get an annual eye exam every year but most people don't so a little explanation would be helpful. Mark was very informative when it came to eyeglass and contacts packages/pricing. He is able to order whatever contacts you prefer as long as it is approved by the optometrist and he will even price match with competitors. Early March, ordered glasses through a visit and one of their 2 for 1 deals. They gave my daughter a broken pair with the promise of 2 new pair in 2 weeks. It is October the 12th and after multiple calls to customer support and multiple attempts to call Stanton, warning they NEVER answer their phone even for customer service, we do not have any glasses. Horrendous customer service! Original glasses order was 3 weeks ago and still haven't received them. Never received any phone calls to update me on the status. After 2 weeks I had to call them and was informed my original order had been cancelled due to the frames breaking when they were fitting the lenses and a new order had to be placed for the frames. Was told they put a "rush" order on them. After another week, with still no phone calls or updates, I called again and am being told that it could be up to another week for them to be ready! Waiting 4 weeks for new glasses with zero effort by them to actually attempt to call and update a customer on the status is ridiculous! For a company that advertises they have hundreds of frames in stock, they sure don't actually seem to keep any on hand except their display models. Everything seems to have to be special ordered one at a time. I will never use them again and will make sure to tell anyone that asks for a recommendation never to use them! read more

Daughter and I had our eye exam here last year. Called and made an appointment for this year. Showed up and tried to talk to the girl with the green hair behind/under the counter but couldn't make eye contact due to the counter being COVERED in standing signs. I had to peer around the sides to see her it was very awkward. Then she asks for my insurance card. I didn't think about it as I'd been there prior and when I called to schedule they didn't ask about it. I told her it should be on file and she just glared at me and said "we don't keep that". She didn't offer any way of looking up my coverage. Just sat there silent while I tried to figure out the next step. Very unprofessional and we will never go back. read more

Hey everyone I never really write reviews but today deserves one. I haven't went to get glasses in about 4 in a half years now(just been busy). So today I chose to go to Stanton Optical. Their online appointment setup was so easy and convenient. Everyone was so nice and respectful. The virtual doctor kinda startled me at first but it went so smooth and efficient He was so kind, I was very pleased! Too top it all off the customer service I received when Mrs. Evelin was helping me finish up my visit was wonderful ! She was very knowledgeable and kind and helped me understand some different ways to better suit me and my glasses! Over all I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! read more

Honestly just not that great. I understand the process takes awhile but good lord. Half the time I was there the front desk girl is ON HER PHONE with a friend and says "sorry I'm at work" then proceeds to say "oh no it's fine, my manger says I can be on the phone."..... really? Then she sits there and stuffs her face with popcorn. Just really unprofessional and she wasn't nice at all. Went in to see if I could get more trial pairs of contacts because this girl also gave me an open pack with 3 contacts and another pack with 5... when she's supposed to give me at least a week or two worth since I'm ordering a 30 pack for each eye.. she didn't tell me if my contacts were actually in just told me to go "sit in the middle" so I sat there I guess just waiting to see if my contacts were in? (Which shouldn't I be notified, I mean you have my number). So if my contacts weren't in I was just waiting on the dude who was actually busy to hand me some trials.. which she can do just fine. Just not impressed with the way this place runs. Even if you're doing something else you should probably ask the people sitting there what they are in for so if it's something as easy as grabbing the bag with their contacts you can get them out of there. Was also told by the rep on the phone (which isn't from the actual store I found out) that the eye exams are $45. He knew which store I was going to and everything and that was still the price I was told. Got to the dr for my checkup and it was $85... come on now. We've used them for years and have been happy with their professionalism, costs and eyeglass options. Today My 14 yr old daughter needed contact lenses. After eye exam she had to demo that she could put in and remove the lenses before we could fill the prescription. The staff were so patient and encouraging. It was busy and full of customers but they didn't make her feel rushed. We even had to take a lunch break. It took 3 hours for my teen to get the right lens in. When that happened, they all cheered. It took Another 20 minutes for the left eye. Then another hour for removal. But they were so warm and encouraging. I am grateful. Highly recommend. read more

This is a horrible place. I'm surprised to find reviewers actually saying positive things about this place. Cal Martinez, the manager, is rude and moody. I spend over $600 here and after 6 months my frame's paint started peeling off all of a sudden. I went to let them know and they were extremely rude about it, as if I was out to steal from them. Then they asked me for $40 to fix the frames. I have a feeling these people are just out to rip off individuals. Stay away if you want to avoid a major headache. read more

I know that Covid is a rough time for everyone, but honestly that was probably the worst customer service I have ever received. My roommates and I had an appointment at 3:50 and we weren't even greeted until almost an hour later. A tall slender dark haired woman walked past us about 10 times and didn't say anything. When we were finally acknowledged we proceeded to ask questions about insurance coverage which she rudely responded "we would have to find out ourselves". She was extremely curt and didn't seem like she wanted to help in the slightest. Not to mention I didn't see not one hand sanitizer available, and it did not look like they were sanitizing in between customers or enforcing social distancing. I was able to get a free glasses exam with two prescription glasses (normal glasses and sun glasses) for the price of one! They were ready in a few hours and the exam was super fast! My son got a contact prescription from this store two months ago. The doctor was in such a hurry that he spent little time with my son. As a result, the prescription does not work for my son. Since my son did not wear the contact often, it took him a while to decide to go back to the store to have the problem corrected. But since it's been two months, the store won't give any help, and the service plan we paid for is completely waste of money. The store clerk first tried to argue that the reason their contact doesn't fit my son was because my son wears a pair of glasses not from them. I told him that my son can see clearly with the pair of glasses I bought from another store, but my son can no see things well with their contacts. He still tried to argue that only if we buy both the glasses and then contacts from them, then the contact will work. We first considered the store because it is said to be cheap. I went there to find a matching frame for my old glasses. I was greeted rudely and the staff were sneering at me for not remembering the specifications for the glasses. Then I was told to GO and FIND matching glasses myself. Being short-sighted and not quite able to see, I have to physically dig through all their glasses to find any matching frames. Once I have found them, they just went like "Oh we cannot try those on because you have to buy them first". How am I gonna buy it if I am not sure whether they will fit or not? The staff were rude and I was mistreated as a customer. I went to another optics store and they actually looked for the matching frames FOR me. Is this how you are supposed to treat customers? As an Aggie, I do not tolerate those who lie, cheat or steal! I visited the College Station branch today at 2:30 pm for an eye exam, after I paid for my prescription I was offered a set of glasses that would be 60 something dollars, I was in a hurry since I had to leave before 3pm to pick up my daughter from school, I asked if I could come back the next day and the girl said that they would not be able to apply "the discount" if it wasn't the same day of the exam, she even mentioned that with the discount I would only be paying 25 dollars. So I agreed to buy them for that price, chose a frame within the selection that match the price she told me, it is 3 pm and I had to leave so she swiped my card I signed and when I got home got an email receipt at 3:57 pm for $451.00. I immediately (less than 15 minutes after I got the receipt) proceeded to call them to tell them that is not what I was told and that I DID NOT agree to pay that, they said they went over everything and the paper I signed had the price on it, and that the glasses were already made, about that: It is absolutely FALSE that they mentioned any of these charges or prices or anything different than the 60 dollars part. I was told by the manager that there is video cameras, which I am glad to hear because it can prove that I did not spend enough time there to go over any of the information or things I was being charged for, and that girl never mentioned any of the stuff they charged for. This people are taking advantage that I was in a hurry, lied about the price, and refused to cancel that order within 15 minutes of processing the receipt. If this was a "miscommunication" they could have let me make the order right and get something that I was actually ok with, and could afford!, instead they gave me misleading information, were dishonest and basically just wrong! I could have saved over $100 for the same glasses at Eyemart Express and gotten them same day instead of waiting two weeks. This facility is disappointing. Do not waste your time here! Every encounter I have had with staff both someone from the call center and staff physically in the office was horrible. Call center and front office staff don't communicate patient's needs. Staff scheduled both an eye exam and an exam for contacts for my cousin when she only needed an exam for glasses. When confronted by my mother that she only need an exam for glasses the front office staff yelled "well who's going to pay for this?" Extremely unprofessional. On another occasion, I tried to obtain a copy of my eye prescription. I went in office to take care of this and was unable to obtain a copy due to technical issues with their printer. When asked when a good time to call back, I was told "I don't know". That's frustrating because I don't want to know what the staff doesn't know. I would like to know how she was able to help me. Holly stated she would email me my prescription and never did! Extremely disappointing. I called to order contacts with the call center at 6:25 PM and Benji told me I couldn't because the store closed early at 6:20 PM, when the website clearly states 6:30 PM.
