I scheduled my appointment for 1:30 and let my employer know. Fortunately a couple of hours before my appointment I checked my personal email. There were 2 emails sent at the exact same time 10:09 am from Stanton Optical. Both emails changing my appointment time. One said 1:50 the other 2:10. Because both emails were sent at the exact same time,I had to call to figure out which time was the most recent change. I was told 1:50. I asked if they would change it again- the man said I don't think so if they do they might call. I canceled the appointment. I have a job that I have to give notice to. Very poor first impression. The man said - you sure you want to cancel we have a great deal running now? It's not just about the money. If I can't trust you with committing to a time I'm not going to trust you with my eye care or committing to prices. read more

Don't believe all the hype. Their advertised prices on TV and in the store look good. Buy one, get one free. They even had a sign that stated $138 for no-line bifocals. Basically, they advertise that you pay for one pair of frames and lens and get the second set of frames and lens for free but...... Hmmm, you can't wear the standard no-lines. You have smaller frames so you have to get these for a substantially more fee. Hmmm, my husband can wear the standard no-lines, but has to pay $25 per prism (and he needed 3) so his are an extra $75. No, our prices don't include scratch-coat, UV protection or any extra. At first, I balked at the quoted price and all of a sudden, gee, we can knock another 40% off of that. I felt like I was at a car lot buying a car. With the free eye exam, my husband and I expected to pay a total of maybe $300-$400 but our final bill was over $700. Never will I be returning once I actually get my glasses. One plus is they had a great selection. I got the cutest Mui Mui frames along with another fabulous pair! read more

I was in the store for a good 20 minutes today and was not greeted by one person. I perused the glass selection on my own and was thoroughly disgusted by how dirty everything was. Every single pair of glasses I picked up to try on was smudged and covered in fingerprints. The racks that hold the glasses were obviously never cleaned and caked with dirt in some places. Was I really supposed to put those things on my face?!? It was a sad state of affairs and I will never be back. read more

This place is bad, real bad. We ordered glasses for my wife. When they came in the lenses were cut incorrectly. The second set of lenses were cut incorrectly also. Then the counter girl wanted to argue with us whether or not they could even put the lenses in her frames, and tell us that it was all our fault that they couldn't put it in those frames. This is the worst excuse for a business that I've ever seen run. Good luck hope you have better luck than we did will not be back. Follow up!!! After being contacted by corporate my wife was informed that she should come in on Saturday so that they could recut her lenses and that they would call her on or before Friday to let her know that they had or had not received the new blanks... I have gone to this Stanton Optical for twenty five years or more, and have always had good service. This time I had two prescriptions and there is still a problem. The first exam was less the five minuets, I didn't understand how that could be until I received my trifocals. Dr. Gish literally wrote it because "I was over 75, and that how the eyes are at that age." The second exam was not much longer and when I questioned him about he got irritated that I would do such a thing. I have tried to adjust but and the end of the day I have notable eye strain. If you call the telephone numbers listed you go to a call center with very strong accent which I could not understand. Hope to go back to the store and speak to someone who can actually do something. I did go to the store and asked to speak to the manager, that employee said "I can help you". But it was not her job nor did she have the authority. By the time the manager got involved I lost my temper and left. Will have to contact the licensing board to report 'Dr. Gish'. read more

I've been to Stanton Optical twice now for exams and a few times for glasses. The customer service is great. I've had a few mishaps with my orders, such as my recent purchase of prescription sun glasses coming in as the wrong tint. However, they gave me a temporary pair of lenses in the frames I selected and corrected it ASAP. I am always greeted right as I walk in the door and given lots of time and advice in picking out glasses. The one qualm that I know has surprised me and others before is the cost. While they always say there are great deals, the deals are often on less desirable frames, and a smaller selection. I don't have eye insurance and it always ends up costing much more than I anticipate. If you're frugal and are just looking for a pair of reading glasses to use in home, their deals are a great option-- if you're looking for a cheap pair of designer glasses, this might not be the place for you. read more

Very unkind and unsuited for this line of work, in contrast to my initial impression which was that they were simply overwhelmed and understaffed; but relatively friendly. We called months ago about getting the frame replaced for eyeglasses still under warranty. We sent the pair in for replacement as they requested and included all the contact information they wanted. We heard nothing. Absolutely nothing for months. When we would try to dial the phone, someone would pick up and say nothing and hang up the phone. Over and over. I tried again today and they did the same thing. Someone picks up and then hangs up the phone. After seven (7) tries, someone answered and she said she is the manager. They never received the eyeglasses although we have a receipt of delivery. The manager said that they will still go ahead and replace the pair. Too much trouble dealing with this company. Unless you live right by one (We traveled 14 hours to visit my daughter and got glasses while we were there.) where you can go into the store for direct service, don't have anything to do with them. read more

Horrible customer service! I'm a group home manager that cares for intellectually disabled adults. We ordered a pair of glasses for a client with his own money because insurance wouldn't pay. This was a month ago. I've called on several occasions to see if they were in and was on hold each time for almost 30 mins. Today I finally got ahold of someone who told me they were in fact there. When I inquired as to when they were actually delivered and why we weren't called she said she couldn't access that information. I asked for a supervisor and was put on hold and then hung up on. I called right back waited again about 15 mins and got someone else who, when I asked for a supervisor, put me on hold AGAIN! I finally hung up after 35 mins. Completely frustrating. I drove from New Buffalo Mich once again to get lenses fixed and denied service .. I was told on the computer there was proof I was told my lenses were covered .. so I asked if I-could take picture of my account.. told no .. why probably because this was my third time arguing with thIs same manager Kayla who walked away from me .. false information on the phone .. rudeness that seems to allowed .. the corporate office seems to always clean up there mess... but wow really what was on the screen other than proof that I was told to come in and be treated rudely .. not cool .. Additionally, Kayla at the Mishawaka store gave me a hard time for not wanting to blurt out private information in the presence of strangers to confirm my identity on a cash sale. I told her my identity was stolen twice already; she continued to be indignant. I ordered 2 sets of glasses, one with auto-tint; however, I receive the left lenses in one pair, the right lenses in the other pair, AND auto tint was on the left lenses only... The eye doctor was really nice but not the associate who will assist you afterwards Their ad is misleading and the associate kinda look down on you if u say that it was so expensive . She will try to sell you so many "deals" then get irritated if you say no. I had to pay $395 for a pair of glasses. Who wouldn't find that expensive? The front desk peoole were very nice and cordial. The place is in a great location and easy fibd and park. I went there for the contact lens deal for 99 that is advertised on their website. It comes with free boxes of lens and 50 coupon for glasses. They advertise frames at 69.00 and up. I called for appointment and they let me pick the day and time which I liked because some days I cannnot leave work. On my way there for my appoinmtent I get an automated call sating my appointment was the next day, a day which I couldnt. I called and they acted like it was my fault and I had to come into tomorrow. I said well then I will not be in because thats the one day I cannot come in and I do not mind if I have to rescedule to next week. I was transfered and they were able to squeeze me in later that same day, which was good. I am near sighted and need prescriptions to see far away. I read 100 essay papers weekly for work and I have never had problems seeing the words. I come in and the dr said I need to be switched to multifocal lens and then went on to say thats normal for my age since Im getting older (40 yrs old). Two years ago I was just fine at a different doctor. I figured oh well. Until I got out front and was told since I need multifocal that online coupon doesnt apply and I have new multfocal prices on not just my lens but the exam itself. I had to pay 99 for just the exam and then they said my contacts were 150 a box, where Im used to paying 50 a box. I said I was just going to buy them on 1800contacts and to just charge me for the exam and I would just get glasses later. They said they would price match me on the contacts so I went ahead and got them. I couldnt find any lens in the store under 100 bucks so I got a pair for 110. Then the lens were crazy expensive since im now on multifocal. The tech offered me a deal if I signed up for the club for 20 bucks where I got 50% off my glasses. So my total price was 500 instead of the 800 full price for glasses and 2 boxes of contacts. I am happy I did get a discount, however, I was only expecting to pay 300 at first. read more

Where to start?? 1. Neglected to tell me their "same day glasses" was not currently happening due to COVID--until after I had an eye exam, picked out frames and sat down to order. 2. Sent me home with the INCORRECT glasses (during COVID) after I'm telling the-- Manager-- they are not the frames I picked out, the name is spelt incorrectly on the box. I was reassured and "Promised" she would not let me go home with someone else's glasses. Despite it being two black pairs of frames she handed me when I stated I ordered one that is BABY PINK. 3. Never asked any Personal Identifiers to help correct the issue as I'm saying something is wrong. Never a date of birth, date of service, address, phone number. And when I stated the name was spelt incorrectly I was in return told: "they just spelt it wrong". 4. Upon checking my information, the date of service was wrong, prescription was wrong on the boxes of glasses they sent me home with. 5. Drive down to the store (about an hour away) and was told.. "Oh we've been looking for these" by an associate. 6. Manager saw me walk in, talked about the situation behind my back and never apologized for the mistake they had made. 7. Day one of wearing one pair-- a piece of glass flaked off while cleaning into my hand. 8. Of course, you can NEVER reach anyone at the store. 9. Three weeks later, I've been told, I can have a refund, they have to check with corporate, they took the glasses back I would get a call on Monday resolving the issue...it's now Wednesday and I'm now being told they can't do a refund on the BOGO glasses. - Remind you, the glasses the store has in their posession. I will NEVER reccomend this store, it has been nothing but a headache. read more

Let me start by saying my insurance switched and i lost my current eye dr. So i went here .....last minute. Awful service by the so called technicians! Add this add that.......wow in the end your down hundreds of dollars for glasses. Their deals the offer BOGO do not apply to insured patients. Dr. was ok...very friendly, she was the first to ever tell me my eyes are strained due to wearing contacts too long in a day....hmmmm and I'm one who wears them 6-8 hrs. A day glasses the rest of the time. Never sleep in them. She also told me I had to move up to an expensive brand of contact lenses due to my astigmatism and they cost $140 a box. She gave me a trial pair and I found them online through 1800contacts for $50 box. I think this company wants people to think they are giving people deals but in reality they are nickle and diming you. Wont be back! read more

I was a client there last year and can't say enough great things about the optometrist. He was great. I get out front to pick glasses and the people were pushy and not aware of their insurance policies which lead me to return twice to correct the billing... I call to get a copy of the prescription and was told it would be faxed, but then there was an issue with faxing so I gave them my sister's name who would be picking it up. She gets there and is told no employee would ever say that because it's against there policy. I go there and give her the date, name that I spoke to the employee and the fact that they have two employees with the same name and the manager acted all knowing without all the facts. Once I explained and gave names she apologized and gave me my script. Really bad customer service and some training needs to start at the top. When we were in this store the service was great, and then they made my wife's lens prescription incorrectly. Instead of doing the good customer service thing and rectifying it, they took a week to fix our order and then never called! When I finally called to check on the status of our order I was treated rudely and they refused to do anything about the price of the order considering the fact that we had to drive 45 minutes back to the store to pick up the glasses which we were told we would have same day. This is the worst experience I've every had getting glasses. My first pair I think they were just guessing on the prescription. My eyes couldn't even take reading 30 pages!!!! Then I went back to complain and they reduced the prescription (supposedly), said it would be 7 - 10 days because of the anti reflective coating that I need for computer work. I get a call and they tell me that only one pair is in.....they sent 2 out at the same time. WTH. I go to pick them up, the gal says they didn't have the coating on them. The notes say I would pick up one pair while I wait for the second one to be coated. Then after my dismay, she gets the manager. Who states they do have the coating. Do they really know what the hell they're talking about?? I put the glasses on there at the store and they were so bothersome I couldn't keep them on very long. I brought em home but I think they screwed up the prescription again. I'm still waiting on the second pair. I say run the other way when it comes to this outfit. After shelling out almost $300 for glasses, I hate to think I'll have to go somewhere else and shell it out again just to get something done right. read more

Store is in disrepair; sales associate and manager Kayla told me the BOGO deal was cheaper than going through insurance even though she never looked at my insurance; wait for long periods of time for corporate customer service who speak with heavy accent and transfer you around and then offer you an in-store credit so that you can give them more money when dissatisfied. They will write on the bill that your purchase will be ready the next day; however, small print gives them 2 weeks as the promise date. After arguing for over an hour I got a promise of a 30% rebate but no full refund. Spare yourself a huge headache and go somewhere else. read more

This was my first visit to any Stanton Optical shop. The storefront seemed unorganized and unclean. However, Dr. Teeter (believe that was his name) seemed like a very capable optometrist. While the technician was friendly I did lose a bit of confidence when she told me this was her 2nd day on the job and that her previous job was at Chilies as a cook. While I applaud her initiative in learning a new trade I couldn't help but wonder why someone wasn't mentoring her. The optometrist even remarked how she had made errors in my exam notes. The staff was so short-handed; one is mostly left to their own devices trying to find frames. One person did assist in showing me how to open the glass cases to see their higher-end frames but promptly moved along. After finding an adequate pair of frames and a little advice on frame style, I proceeded to place my order. read more

It felt very much like a trap bait service, when I called to inquire it seemed as though they were giving out sweet deals that almost sounded "too good to be true," but when I took it and went the next day I came out with several hundred dollars less in my account. Perhaps part of it is my fault for the lack of research before going, but it felt very much like I have been tricked into complying to their services as they won't tell you anything about the fishy practices they do (for example, when I asked them about prices I noticed they kept saying "I'm about to get to that in just a second..."). One positive experience was with Dr. Matthew Bartlett, who wants to be called just "Matt" to connect with his customers. He was very friendly, and his stories were very compelling. He emphasized over and over again how he was not about the money, but that he is just here to help in any way possible after his office was subject to "eminent domain" by the government.
