Drove the hour necessary to arrive at Stanton Optical on Murphy Canyon Road in San Diego this morning. Intended to purchase a replacement pair of glasses for my grandson. Arrived just after opening @ 9;00am and entered next to the large window advertisement stating, "Walk in eye exams available." ( Saw only one patron looking at frames in the entire place. ) When the sales associate asked what it is we wanted, she inferred we should have made an appointment. We were then told, "It's a very busy day. It's doctors day." Well, neither my 10 year old grandson in need of glasses is a doctor nor am I so we simply left without the falsely promoted, "walk in exams" and "30 minute prescription glasses." SOME BUSINESSES THAT REFLECT ANNOYANCE OR DISDAIN FOR CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE FORCED TO SURVIVE 90 DAYS WITHOUT ANY CUSTOMERS. read more

I've been coming to Stanton Optical for years and they've been so helpful to me when I've needed to fix or replace my glasses. Jasmine and Maryou were so helpful during my eye exam. I didn't make an appointment but I didn't have to wait at all and it was very easy to find frames that met my budget! I called and asked for an appointment with the doctor as I have diabetes and needed a full exam. The person on the phone promised Dr would be there. I arrived and was told they only came in on Thur. I told the lady I needed the doctor to be there in person when making the appointment. We went ahead with the normal exam. They set me up with glasses I explained my issue with my neck and how I could not bend my head to see and glasses had to sit differently on my head. Tech ignored my needs and made glasses wrong for me. I had to make another appointment to see the Dr. on a Thur. When he did his exam he explained they had not given me the right prescription. They are remaking my glasses. This started on 4-5-24 Now I am told I won't get my glasses till 6-12-24. No, I will never use this company again. Huge selection of frames to choose from, I went in on a Groupon and you should too. Takes two weeks to actually receive your eyewear. The eye exam is free if you make a purchase. If you need glasses, don't go to Stanton Optical ! Before i ordered my glasses, I was told by Baylee that it would take 2 weeks, I said ok and ordered my glasses . This was on 04/24/2023. I placed a call on 05/05/2023 as was told by Frank, that they would be in on 05/12/2023. I called again on 05/12/2023 an was told they would be in on 05/15/2023 that they are still in processing. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was placed on hold for 15 minutes, and Frank told me they were all busy, and someone would call me back. All Busy? I will give them the benefit of the doubt, but if they are not in by the last date given by this store, I will demand a refund. read more

I had a month log ordeal with Stanton in Murphy Canyon. The tech operating the eye exam device was not able to get a good reading so scheduled me to see the optometrist who is there once a week. She ordered 2 sets of trial lenses. One set came in only the left lens came in on the second set. They had to order the second set again and again only the left came in. My prescriptiono had a typographical error so had to be adjusted. It took three phone calls just to get the new one emailed to me and was promised each time it would be sent that day. I came into the office to look for a set of eye glass frames. Had 3 pair I wanted priced. I had to wait for a while while he was texting and finally gave up. NEVER to return again. POOR COMMUNICATION, POOR FOLLOW THROUGH and POOR SERVICE. read more

Prices aren't bad if you're on a budget and looking for glasses. Personally I don't think I would get glasses from them again. Their customer service is horrible. I never received a call stating my glasses were ready. When I asked they just said oH... yeah well the system is automated so we have no control of that?? On top of that, a few days after I ordered my glasses I had called and asked if I can have my receipt faxed to me because I misplaced mine. I literally called 3 times through the day and let them know I still hadn't received it. I initially spoke with Mike. Each time I called there was Some excuse. Mike apparently gave it to someone to fax. Spoke to Mike again who said he faxed it. Needless to say I never received it and had to go into the store. Mike just looks at me when I asked for it and says "oh sorry about that" . He definitely got a eye roll from me! Mike.. just be honest and say you got busy and never faxed it... pssshhh. There were some complications in setting me up for the exam, but Julie and Bree were seamless in makeing sure I had the best experience. I had an amazing experience at Stanton Optical # 113 as this was my first Stanton Optical purchase. I ordered two pair of prescription glasses on March 5th with Christina Osborn, Sales Consultant, and she was absolutely amazing! She was patient, kind, and attentive to what I wanted and was looking for. Her customer service was beyond awesome and I truly appreciated her assisting me with my purchase. Baylee Hix, Sales Manager customer service was nothing short of exceptional. She helped to ensure the sale and prices were all perfect and within budget. Her attentiveness, honesty, and helpfulness is truly appreciated as shopping for glasses can be stressful at times with so many options available. I received text message and email notifications that both of my prescription glasses were ready for pick-up on March 15th. *ik this is long but PLEASE READ before you go in* **they delete all the bad reviews on Google & ik this for a fact because I tried posting mine on Google reviews & it was deleted** I'm convinced every "good" review was bribed somehow. this is the WORST optical center I've ever been to! i should've walked out when I seen the first red flag! (the employees were OPENLY bad mouthing other coworkers to where everyone who was in the store could hear) .. I went in at the end of April for an exam, I let them know I was only interested in an exam to get my RX. after I said that, I felt the whole vibe change, like they were annoyed I only wanted an exam at the time. .. I had a virtual exam and then was told I had to come back in to see in a person doctor b/c there might be a more extensive issue w my eyes & it'd be better for an in person exam. I went back a few days later, seen the in person dr & she said there wasn't anything wrong. she signed off on my RX & I got to pick out some frames, even though my intention was to order online. I figured I'm already here so might as well. I picked out my frames, the girl checked me out & I was told they'd be ready within 7-14 days. A little over 2 1/2 weeks later I got a notification that my glasses were ready. I went to pick them up & I couldn't see ANYTHING out of them! I let the girl who was helping me know & she said my eyes just needed to adjust. I'm 24, I've had glasses since I was 7 months old, I know when I just need to adjust to new glasses vs NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE. she even made me feel like an idiot and told me to try them on UPSIDE DOWN! she asked me to take the glasses home and try again in the morning. whatever, I agreed and tried them again the next morning & of course the same thing, I COULD NOT SEE. I called in before just going to the store because I live 45 minutes away, I spoke to someone from their call center, explained the situation & they told me not to worry they would make me a same day appointment to see what was wrong and send the glasses back to get fixed. I went in to the office just to be told I had to make ANOTHER appointment 2 weeks out for when the doctor had next availability! I was obviously LIVID but I respectfully let the girl know my situation let her know that's not what I was told over the phone and how I was leaving out of town the following week and I wanted to at least get them sent in to be fixed before I left. she said there was nothing she could do b/c the doctor wasn't available. at that point, I was just so annoyed I asked her to please take the glasses back and to give me a refund because I've had nothing but issues since the beginning. she went back to speak to who I'm assuming was the manager, came back, tried getting me to stay as a patient, I told her I was sorry but I just would like to go elsewhere at this point, went back to speak to her manager again & came back and said they would process my refund. I asked her to please also reverse the claim they sent to my insurance since I didn't obtain glasses from them. she said it would take about a week or so because they "can't do that" in office. I understood that part because I work in medical admin. I left, and about 2 weeks later went to another optical center who did an exam and gave me a VALID rx. I showed the DR the RX I got from Stanton & he was so confused as to how the dr from Stanton could've gave me a complete INCORRECT rx! he said the DR's rx was so off that he knows there was no way I could've even seen w/ the glasses that Stanton gave me. (I see I'm not the only one who has gotten a bad prescription based on the other reviews here too) -- I go to pick out frames, check out & OFCOURSE Stanton never even reversed the claim! so I couldn't get new glasses -- here we are AUGUST 3, CLAIM STILL HASNT BEEN REVERSED and my insurance is now fighting with them. Where shall we start. Perhaps at the moment that the worker in the back. The guy that collects your information and then asks you to look through the lenses. I brought my daughter here to renew her prescription and first he didn't give her proper instructions as for what to do. My daughter has been wearing glasses for a few years now so she knows the drill. She proceeded to look through the lenses and look for the green dot this man was asking her to look at. When she didn't find it I guess she giggled a little to what the man responded by standing up and saying: Go wait outside and come back when you are ready. Then he proceeded to walk away and into an exam room. We guessed that her part of the testing there was over. He came out of the exam room, looked at my daughter and said: I told you to go to the waiting area and come back when you are ready. My daughter looked at me a little scared and of course I stood up and proceeded to ask what was the problem? He said well she was giggling so I cannot properly do the exam when she is laughing. Now I took a deep breath and told him. That is not a proper way to talk to a patient and unless you provide proper instructions you cannot expect for children to know what to do. I ask him what did he need her to do. He told me what he wanted, then I told my daughter to do so and that part of the exam was done. We then proceeded to go into the exam room (after that I was not comfortable leaving my child with the dude). The exam was done by a provider out of site. It was a skype call with poor connection. I ended up out of there with the prescription which after paying $45+dlls I do not trust. Their deal on the window is not really a deal. I got a bill of 600dlls which then went down to $400, $200 and finally after them begging for us to but a pair ended up at $90dlls. No way, this is bad business, bad costumer service and I do not recommend it. read more

I purchased 2 pairs of glasses for my wife last October. I was going to buy 2 pairs for my self as well but when they quoted almost $800 for my wives I had to tell them to just order them for my wife. Then they all of a sudden offered me a discount of $150 if I ordered mine as well as hers. I still could not afford it so I only ordered hers. The hinge on one of her glasses (plastic) broke yesterday so my wife returned to have them repaired and they charged her $40. I can't believe how dis-reputable this company's behavior is or how they take advantage of their clients. Don't waste your time or money on these con-artists. PS. Had a good experience. My daughter has no insurance no income but needed an upgrade on her eye glass prescription. My Dad told me to check out Stanton for good deals on glasses/ frames. And she brought in her frames instead of picking theirs. I think the service was great there should have been a better deal since we weren't purchasing their frames but $200 for 2 pair was descent. Would've paid that with insurance for 1 pair. They do send them out of state to be processed so expect there will be a about 2weeks before you get your glasses. They will contact you via email & text once received which one came in sooner than the other pair which was odd. And she received a notification that one was in the store ready for pick up but might as well wait for both so we wouldn't have to make two trips. The other pair arrived a day later & she's able to see clearly now. Thank you for a great service. read more

I get my exam at Costco and need trifocals. I call around to find out who will do a full lens progressive. Stanton Optical steps up to the plate. I go to the Santee location. Sales person assures me that a wider pair of glasses will get me FULL optimal progressive lenses. Of course it costs more, I do a full upgrade on everything. Best of the Best. Best progressive, blah blah. paid close to $600. Get the glasses back and the actual prescription area is less than my pinky finger width. The sales people there miraculously have NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED and can't help me. I go to the La Mesa store. Oh my you have the wrong lens. 5TIMES I HAD THE WRONG LENS. 5 TIMES my glasses were redone. So I get NEW frames. wait 2 more weeks and get the NEW frames with the NEW progressive and SHABAM!! Still the pinky finger width of prescription. So instead of being able to help me they tell me that it must be MY EYES. They set me up with an appointment with their eye doctor cuz you know, the last 35 years of eye doctors haven't found the issue they have. Then today, 2 days BEFORE the appointment, they call me to reschedule. SOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT HAPPY STANTON OPTICAL. I want a manager and a refund. Stanton Optical is a hit and miss for me. On one hand the staff is friendly and accommodating. On the other hand, some of the staff members don't comply with the mask rule, and at one point I saw a representative as well as a customer used their mask as a chin strap more than a protective gear. Also, the 2 glasses for $59 on their door is a total switch bait as I end up paying over $500 for two pairs of glasses since I didn't like the limited $59 selection and it didn't cover the cost of the lenses that I wanted which had blue light and uv protection. I'm also shocked that the optometrist who I met with virtually seemed to be someone living abroad (not that there is anything wrong with that but it felt a little impersonal especially when I could hear another optometrist conducting an examination in the background). The reason why I gave this place a 4 star instead of the overall 3 star that they have on yelp is because they let me try on multiple pairs of glasses without hesitation, I absolutely love their refillable lens kit (which was an extra $8 *eyeroll*) and because of Alyse who was really sweet & personable. Also, be sure to check your glasses before you leave as they did forget a screw in one of the glasses that I purchased. read more

Sat, 2 Dec visited the Santee location and extremely disappointed. Testing machines did not work, told me I had to wait until Tuesday to see a doctor. The techs assisting me also did not clean equipment prior to being positioned to use it. Left disappointed and headed to La Mesa store. What a difference!! Haykel and staff took care of me right away. Testing equipment in working order and disenfected before I used it. Had a video consultation with a Dr right then. Highly recommend this facility for your eye care needs!!! Five star service at the La Mesa store, Don't bother with Santee facility. read more
