I have worn glasses and/or contact lenses for 45 years, so I've had a lot of experience (both good and bad) with optometrists. I am very pleased with Stanton Optical. The doctor was very knowledgeable and the technicians/office staff were very pleasant and professional. My only dissatisfaction was the prolonged waiting...clearly, this is a new business with new employees who are in the learing curve of new computer and business systems, so it took a bit longer to complete each step in the process. Otherwise, I would give them five stars. I would definitely recommend this business to my friends and family. read more

I was greeted by Jerry,aparently a new employee at this very new optical. For me, buying glasses means asking lots of questions. Jerry made sure I got all the right answers. He didn't hesitate to ask senior staff and double check and triple check everything that went into the computer. Dr. Tonnu gave me a very thorough exam. I appreciated her patience when I kept asking her to go back so that I was sure to say which choice was clearest. I hope she stays at this new store. I'll be looking for her the next time I need an exam. I would say the price was the best thing. It was soooo low. But, I was there so long I felt that I had made new friends. Apparently the first person on 12/8 (store manager ameen) never placed the order and the second guy (Michael) on 12/17 when I called... ordered the wrong ones (and put some note that I brought in empty boxes even tho it was a phone call that I made. I was unaware that he ordered the wrong ones due to the fact I wasn't there... so 12/26 I called and they said "yes your air optix night and day are in". So today 12/27 my husband stopped by to pick them up. He came home with air optix hydraglide. I called and reported they were wrong. They said it would be fixed and would let me know. Then I got a call back a couple hours later saying "actually we have the night and days available now if you bring them in to trade them". So this time I go with him but I wait in the car while my husband goes in and "trades". A trade would equate to 6mo the supply for six months supply. However.... not in Stanton world. My husband doesn't wear contacts so he thought the mini trial boxes they gave him had a pair in each. They did not. I was given 8 singles for the 12 total. So I sent him back in again. They stated that they had to "honor the last order" and instructed him to come back later. I went in. 7 months pregnant and furious and frustrated. I stated to the three employees in the room that I was not leaving until I received what I paid for. We argued. They lost. I finally left with what I paid for on 12/8 on 12/27 five minutes before closing. Did I mention on 12/8 it was an hour in that place to get an order done in the first place? People, go to target. Don't go here if you can avoid it. I had poor service last time but I bought a stupid membership I feel forced to use now. This is my second bad experience. I repeat GO TO TARGET. read more

Demetrius & Hillary had the best customer service. They beat Walmart, JC Penny, & Kaiser. Got mine, 2/$287 no question, just had to pick the frame. One star is being generous. Every employee is awful and uneducated. Dealing with this location is a complete headache, whether I call the location or walk in. I don't know where they hire their employees. I can not begin to say enough good things about Stanton! Having a daughter with autism, things like eye exams can sometimes be difficult and overwhelming. From the time she walked in the door, through her exam and picking out glasses, everyone at Stanton was super sweet and accommodating and made her experience such a positive one that she walked away smiling! I have to give a huge shout out to the true rockstar, Destinee! Today she was filling in at another store that I happened to be at because it is closer to my home than Santee and she was all over the store bouncing around from customer to customer and letting us all know that we were important and she would be with us as soon as possible. She managed being busy very well without being overwhelmed and was able to see everyone in a timely manner. She has seen us a couple of times in the process picking up the glasses we ordered from the Santee store and fitting them for my daughter and then again today when her glasses broke. Each time Destinee not only remembers us, but interacts with my daughter (and whatever siblings we have in tow) and goes above and beyond to make sure we walk away happy every time. After picking a pair of glasses that weren't the best for what my daughter needed, which ended up breaking because of that, she was happy to take her time and help us find ones that were more sturdy and better fit and ordered them at no extra cost to us. Today, a year from my first review, I brought my mom in to get some new glasses. We had Robin helping us out, and she was awesome! She helped my mom pick out frames, helped us get the best pricing, and also tightened my own frames that had become a little loose over the last year. So this is an update to my previous post (that you will find just before this) My problem was never handled by the original people that were involved. It took my husband calling and speaking to a new manager by the name of Stephanie who had no idea what was going on but took the time to listen and take action. What these other employees and a general mama get at the store and at corporate could not get done in over a month, she got done in 2 days. Funny how that works when someone actually cares about customer service. Sad to say that I still had to spend more to fix my glasses but Stephanie has stepped up and is working very hard to make everything right. Please give her the chance to fix your issues that you previously had from a manager who didn't care. Stephanie is awesome and I for sure will give her the chance that she deserves. From the second I walked into the door, I was greeted very politely by Jerry even though they were extremely busy. Jerry was extremely helpful while picking out my new glasses. He was in the middle of helping a couple other people and found the time to help me too. He searched the whole store for a good 30 minutes to find the frames I liked but in all black! Also Hilery was extremely helpful, explaining all the prices and discounts they had and weighing my options. If they hadn't offered me discounts it would be a one. Not once but twice did they tell my son his nee glasses would arrive on a specific date but they arrived more than 2 weeks late both times. First time the prescription was off, second time they were not there. I called every day to check on them and was told they were not in yet. One day I just couldn't believe they were still not in so I went in to make sure and yup there they sat! If you dont need your glasses in a timely manner perhaps this is the place for you. read more

Stanton Optical is not a place got want to go if you have a difficult prescription. I tried to get contacts and after paying for the exam and buying "back up" glasses I found out I wasn't a candidate for contacts except to wear occasionally. I bought glasses and when I bought then they weren't the right prescription. Every time I went in someone tried to adjust or fix the way they sat on my face. After over 4 months I asked for a refund and was only given 35 dollars for the membership. I went a few more times as I have to wear glasses 24/7 so was at their mercy. I got a pair that I could at least see in but now they are scratched after only a few months. So much for scratch resistant. These are horrible. Plus I have to tilt my head in different directions to see. Going to go to a quality optical shop. No skimping on eyewear. read more

wish I had read the reviews before coming here.. horrible customer service feel like they are doing you a favor and as for the girl that sits up front making up your scripts on the computer...she's harsh, abrasive, rude and would much rather be somewhere else When I got there she told me I was late Then I heard her chastise another customer for using the wrong language when it came to vision For the love of God, how do places like these stay open? This place has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I went here for an exam a few months ago. My first impression was an optimistic one despite the pushy sales people. Honestly, when I walked in I felt like I was on a car lot not a glasses store. Still, I was willing to give them a chance. The best part about my whole experience was the actual exam with the optometrist who was friendly and professional; more than I can say for the rest of the staff. After my exam, the sales people proceeded to haggle with me over the price, when I told them I was just going to take my prescription elsewhere to buy more affordable glasses, they informed me that they are able to give a certain amount of discounts per day and that they would "work with me" to make sure that I get some glasses. After waiting for a few hours to confirm the final price and for the glasses to be made, I left the store feeling like I didn't necessarily get the best deal but happy nevertheless that I was done with the whole process. The most upsetting part of my experience has been the last two days. I had called yesterday to request a copy of my prescription. I was informed by one of the staff members that their system was down. The rep then proceeded to take down my email address and informed me that my prescription would be emailed to me later in the day. Fast-forward more than 24 hours later and still no prescription. I called back again and after being transferred twice, the line was answered in a very unprofessional manner to the point where I questioned if I had been transferred to the wrong extension. The young lady proceeded to tell me that she had to put me on hold AGAIN but that she would be the one to pickup and that I would not be transferred again. After 30 minutes on hold, I gave up. I rarely write negative reviews like this but unfortunately I've had such a negative experience that I'd hate for people to fall into the same trap. In my experience, the glasses are overpriced and the staff lack a base-level of customer service. read more

I went into the Santee Stanton Optical feeling defeated before sharing my concern. I have a very complicated prescription and needed progressives for work with a special need. I have had 5 pairs this last year searching for the right prescription to be disappointed time and time again. I have had strain headaches and constant sight-related errors on my job. I had the incredible pleasure of having the Stephenie B help with my needs. She fought through all of the different problems I had with my previous prescriptions and came up with a new plan. I been using eye glasses all my life, a year ago I saw this Stanton open up near my home and I was so excited because they had a promotion going on where you could get a free pair of glasses with the purchase of an eye exam but that was not the case. The offered me so many things for my glasses that they could never get right and they offered an insurance just in case something went wrong with them that supposed to last a year after you got them but they always tried to charge me for their mistakes made on my glasses and claimed I never bought the insurance when I did. They also said I could get a new pair for only $ 20.00 dollars but they never followed through with any of their promises. Worst customer service ever!! I've been trying to get my glasses for over a year and they always mess them up whether it be the prescription or the tint. One time they even flipped the prescription so I could only see if I wore my glasses upside down! This place is very unprofessional and I will never return again! read more

Was very disappointed in my experience.glasses didn't feel right but was told wait 4-6 week for eyes to adjust ..1 pair of sun glasses broke and i was told i had to pay 20% it had only been 31 day. The yr warranty is misleading....its a 20% co pay after 30 days... the 2nd pair of sun glasses had 2 differnt shade of lenses and my regular glasses are blurry from the anti glare..needless to say the manager Jareior was not accommodating at all so sad was happy when they came now...just a low quality poor customer service place better warranty at Wal-Mart. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. When I attempted to call and follow up on my Husband's glasses order, the person answered by asking "are you calling to make an appointment", I said no, I'd like to check the status of my order, she said "please hold", after several minutes someone else answered and asked the same question and when I said I wanted to check the status of my order I was again placed on hold... this happened 3 times before I was transferred to voicemail. It was obvious that once they receive your money you are no longer a valued customer. I received a call a week later asking how my experience was and when I candidly expressed my frustration the representative hung up on me. My Husband's prescription is not right and their offer of "2 for $59" is phony. I went to James Officer on 8960 Carlton Hills Blvd, Santee, and he was so honest and helpful. I used the website to schedule appointments for the next day for my husband and me. We received the best​ customer service I've had in a while​. The entire staff was helpful and attentive. Amenah and Destinee both provided pre-appointment​ screening. Dr. Ann explained clearly each step of the exam. Nick, the manager,​ went above and beyond to help me pick out just the right frames. I must admit, I was a bit skeptical​ of the $59.95 for 2 pair of glasses and an exam, but with no pressure for add ons, from start to finish within an hour, I had 2 new pairs of glasses and a copy of my prescription as I walked out the door. read more

A few weeks ago I went in because I had a contact tear in my eye. It had been a few days and I still couldn't get the contact out, my eye was hurting so I made an appointment to have them see if the contact was in there. I went in and the doctor put some drops in my eye and used a light, I told him it felt like it was in the top of my eye lid. After a 3 min maybe even less I was told there was nothing in my eye. So I paid $35 dollars and went on my way. However, three days later my eye was still hurting, I knew there was a contact in there. I went to another doctor to see if they could see anything, sure enough there was a huge piece of contact in my eye. I was mad that I had paid Stanton optical the $35. So I called to see since they charged me and were unable to help me and said nothing was in my eye if I could get a refund since I had to pay another doctor to actually get it out. They refused to refund me my money back. Saying the doctors fee was nonrefundable. I've had other issues with this company before and this was the final straw for me. I will be going somewhere else for my eye exams from now on, I won't even buy contacts from them because the price is twice as high as Costco. They use to price match but no longer do. Overall, I've given this company several opportunities and not a happy customer in the end. read more

When I walked in, it took 10 minutes for staff to even acknowledge that I was at the front desk. I got there at 2pm, my appt was at 2:30pm. I walked around looking for frames. I was called back at 2:40 where they did a 2 minute blow in the eye Check and was told to sit and wait for the Dr. At 3:20 I got up and asked the receptionist, who was rude and doesn't seem to possess any customer services skills at all, I asked her if she knew how much longer it would be. She said, "ummm no, just wait for the dr to be done" and she went back to her conversation with another employee. Finally I was called back at 3:45 to see the Dr., he was nice and seemed knowledgeable, took about 10 minutes. When we got done the woman helping us with frames, lenses, and coating was rude. She was talking to another employee without regard to me sitting there. The 2 for $68 deal was a joke, there were 6 frames to choose from! 6!! It was $342 in total. Oh and the office music selection was Jason Derulo, wiggle, a song saying "what would you do with a big fat butt" are you kidding? Unprofessional! My child shouldn't have to listen to that. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I started doing Business with Stanton optical about a year ago. Kaiser only gives you 1 set of frames and lenses and having a then 3 year old boy, they broke within a week. I went to Stanton because they were close and advertised low prices. After getting a everyday pair and a spare pair with poly-carbonate lenses with the protection plan on both pairs I ended up spending $200-$215. More than I planned, but not the reason for the one star. Fast forward to a week ago when I went with my now 4 year old son to the ophthalmologist to get his 3 month check up. He was having trouble seeing anything during the check up and being naive I thought it was just because he just didn't want to be there. After we did all the cards at different distances, the doctor asked if he could check my sons prescription in his glasses which I thought was weird but why not, it's not like it would be the wrong prescription right? WRONG!!! I had gone roughly 3-4 months earlier and his prescription had changed and I had taken both pairs of his glasses immediately to Stanton to be changed. Apparently there was a "computer error" as I was told which gave him his OLD PRESCRIPTION back instead of his updated one. If you are familiar with myopia he went from -3.25, -3.0 to -3.75 in both eyes. That's a pretty big difference! No wonder he couldn't pass the eye test at Kaiser, he couldn't see! When I went to Stanton to address this, the optician didn't say sorry, that's so awful your son couldn't see, NOTHING!!! All she said was there was a computer error, I got the absolute same response from the manager!!! I never see the same employees twice when I go in and they're already on their 3rd manager in less than a year. Buyer beware, you get what you pay for!!! read more
