Had an appointment with TSA Precheck and only had to wait about 5 minutes for others to finish before it was my turn. Everything went very smoothly the lady at her desk was very informative walking me through the process. Only took about 10-15 minutes of my time which I was anticipating longer but overall happy with my results. Walked around the staples and they had many clearance items and sales going on so I grabbed a couple of things and the associates were also very friendly. Everything was nicely organized. I just went to Staples on Meacham in Elk Grove Village and I must say they are so friendly. The young gentleman at the door greeted me and said hello. And then, I walked in the isle to get some ink for my printer and I was approached by the manager who was soooo upbeat and friendly. As I went to pay, again I met the manager who took care of me and we started talking. I was so impressed with Dawn, the manager, that I had to write this review. I went there to complete my tsa precheck process. It was very easy and probably took me no longer than 5 minutes. There were two ppl ahead of me so I shopped around because I was early. They pretty much check your documents that they match and take your photo along with fingerprints. The cost was $85 and it was good for 5 years once approved. If you have kids under 16 that travel with you this will cover them going through the tsa pre check line at the airport so you will only need them for the adults. After you're done with that process they give you a coupon book which came in handy because of all the items I grabbed while I was waiting. LOL This location o was in and out and from the time that it took me to register online to getting the actual appointment it was less than a week. the staples employee working the TSA pre check counter was rude. I came in for a walk in and she called for the 4:30 appointment and he wasn't there, so he called for the 4:40 and took her at 4:40pm. Then she called for the 4:30 again and then she came out to get me right as the 4:50 arrived. She told me she can't take me because if she works past 5 she will get fired. Have I ever mentioned how much I love to organize and buy things that help me organized and how much more beautiful my life is when everything is organized? I'm telling you right now -- organization is bliss. Everything flows when things are organized. My life cannot function when things are in disarray. Staples helps me stay organized, apparently. I came here today to purchase a specific set of colorful liquid flair felt tip pens and ended up being amazed at how many different ways papers and office supplies could be organized. On top of all of that, all the organization stuff was completely organized! I kept walking up and down the aisles, lightly grazing my fingers over everything I wanted to bring home. The expensive Martha Stewart display caught my eye, and I actually ended up picking up a couple things from it. I couldn't find the specific pens I wanted, but I found something similar. I left with beautiful pens, a beautiful organizer, and bubble wrap mailers. Bubble wrap is so fun. On a dreary cold day after Christmas with a nearly empty parking lot, this location doesn't look like much from the outside. Inside is a whole different story. It is organized office heaven. Me and my friends planned to have a same shirt if we went on a beach party at our friend's birthday. So to save enough money we planned to bought an equipment for t-shirt printing. Three of us went to this store to bought the equipment while the others are in my house. We already have a shirt. My friend grabs a cart and we went directly to the printing tools section. We grab two Blank silkscreens pre-stretched 110 mesh frame and blank canvas. Then we grab some pad of Transparency paper for laser jet printing. They have a set of materials but some of it has we already have so we don't need a set. We bought also bought squeegee. After that we went to the section of ink. We bought photo emulsion for our design. There are lot of ink to choose. We only need 4 colors for our design which is color lack, red, blue and yellow. We spent just half an hour here and were good that we bought everything we need. read more

had to order label sheets from 2 separate locations because this location only had one in stock. Well, I drove all the way to this location and when I picked up the item and got to my car, I realized they gave me the wrong item (label size). Joe in customer service was very nice and polite. Called this lady who's name is Renee. She approached me and I explained to her they had given me the wrong item I had ordered online. She rudely responded "no! That's what you ordered!" I said, "no.. I know what I ordered. Here's my confirmation" she then proceeds to go and look for the item. Apparently her inventory was wrong. She then asks me to go with her to go look and find the item. I did not follow her and I politely asked joe to just give me a refund. I understand her inventory was wrong but she did not have to be rude. Yes she did offer to order the item or to find another location but her initial attitude had already upset me. Either way I had to drive to the other location to pickup the same item they had in stock. Such a disappointing experience! They're so confused and it results in poor customer service and slow service. It was a sunday and I arrived about 10:40 am. They don't open till 11. I witnessed 15 people turning around and going somewhere else. More than likely to Walmart. I needed copying or I'd be at Walmart too. The employee at the copy counter spoke loudly with his body language that he didn't want to work. He asked when I wanted the copies. Asap my response. Well he says " I can expedite right now for $20 or I can have it ready at 5:30 tonight." Ok expedite it. An hour and 20 minutes later I had it completed. Expedited? At some point in the process he offered me the "double deal" that would get me double the amount of copies for the same price. I was confused. They don't have time to do the job but they have time to do double for everyone? Apparently "corporate" says it brings in more customers. I got my stuff at half price AND double the amount of copies. We experienced some of the worst customer service from an associate named Dan who told us the desk and chair we wanted was out of stock and not able to be ordered either. I've been a business owner in Elk Grove Village for forty years. I've been a loyal customer of Staples in Elk Grove Village since they opened their doors. Two of the major competitors were within blocks of my office, yet I always traveled across town for office products, as Staples always had competitive pricing, and in most cases, better prices on ink cartridges, which I spent thousands of dollars on. I also liked their print center, which was the best in the area. Boy, have times changed. On Thursday January 28, I stopped by Staples in Elk Grove Village, which was probably my last visit to Staples, and their last chance to keep me as a loyal customer. Years ago, Staples had the best print center around, great people, very knowledgable, and very professional, then they started moving their people around, huge turnover. Just when I thought I had someone who could print "Border Prints", they were gone. It got to the point where every order was flawed, and had to be reprinted. It got worse as time went by, usually equipment problems. Sometimes I had to go to the Rolling Meadows store. They were probably worse than EGV. I stopped by Staples Thursday to get two Border Prints printed for a Grand Opening gift for a friend. The gentleman in the print center told me their printer was down, and wouldn't be serviced until Tuesday. (I was told their printer was down last August, when I needed 24 border prints printed for a fund raiser) I asked him if he could call the Carol Stream store, then email the files over there to expedite. He asked how big the files were, and sounded a little like he didn't want to email the files, so I decided I'd drive there if their printer worked. He called CS and the gentleman in the print center said come on over, we'll print and have the order ready Friday. I drove to CS, dropped the disc off. About an hour later, I got a call from Staples CS saying their printer wouldn't print a clean print, and everything was really pink. Then the gentleman apologized, said they couldn't complete my order, and their equipment wouldn't be serviced, as the Carol Stream store would be closing permanently Saturday. So far, Addison, Schaumburg and now Carol Stream Staples have closed their doors. If Staples plans on staying a player in the office products world, they should consider hiring good knowledgable people, and paying them well, so they stick around for more than a couple months. As far as their Print Centers, ALL their equipment should be ready for an order, or print job 100% of the time. Sorry Staples, one star is all you get from me. Back in the day, when Jesse worked the print center, you were a 5 star operation. I guess it's time to start shopping at Office Depot. read more

I decided to go to Staples to get some color documents printed out for a presentation. I probably could have wrestled through this at home, but figured it would be easier at Staples in case I needed to increase to a paper size my printer won't accept. The next complication is that I was too lazy to get everything all neatly organized in a separate folder so someone at Staple could press the "easy button" and print everything out. The young lady that helped me out, Morgan G., was fantastic! She was patient and understanding and let me show her what documents I needed and provided her ideas on how the best way to print these out in a presentation acceptable format. Excellent customer service.! To bad so many brick and mortar stores (especially a big chain such as this) seem to have redirected a lot of their focus on customer service to the quick and easy "mobile" society we live in; not Morgan though. Kudo's to her and I hope Staples realizes what an asset employees like Morgan are. To boot... I offered a few bucks so she could have lunch somewhere of her choice. She refused the tip and referred to it being against company policy. Huh? Integrity too? i purchased a desk online from Staples to complete the office in our new home. The desk was delivered by 3 people who were laughing uncontrollably. One person was hugging the desk and carrying it without any assistance. He dropped the desk 3 times and damaged the top corner of the desk while his 2 helpers stood by and did nothing but laugh. There was a part missing from the desk and when I called customer service they said that they could send out a new part in 3 months and as for the damage they would send me a discount coupon. Frustrating! I order online to be deliver to this store, it's supposed to be easy pick up free shipping, I should have just payed for the shipping. My husband went to pick up the package during business hrs just to find out the store was closed because their systems were down, really! 3 phone calls later of 10-15 min waiting on hold, total of 30 min my husband waiting outside the door still no package. I get some office supplies here because of the reasonable prices but last time the last package was delivered to a completely different address that's why I opted to pick up myself but every time there's some kind of inconvenience. read more

I took my tower to staples in Elk Grove to get a virus taken out and protection put in last Oct. Was not on computer (Internet) For 4 weeks or so went to click on several icons I had made could not get in or would not stay open. I did not want google chrome They put it I and my internet ex liter stop working. Some how my excel, word did not work. My protection stopped working also. They said 3-5 days it's been 10 days still not done. I will never use them for computer repairs again. They were done quickly and only a minimal wait in line time because of a customer who made his own mistake and had to wait longer for his stuff.
