Went yesterday for the first time to inquire about printing a memorial photo for my brother who has just passed away and some other memorial material. I didn't know how or where to start so I went to the printing service area where I found Carol sitting opening mail. I could tell she didn't want to acknowledge me and from far away she asked with a very annoyed voice "can I help you?" I didn't want to speak about my matter loud so I asked if she could come to the counter. She was so annoyed that I had to ask if I was bothering her. I just couldn't be there for another second. I reported her behavior to management and left. I know I'm going through grief, and I don't know what she's going through in her life, but I would never have such a bad attitude toward a customer. I hope she has a better day and a better attitude towards others. You never know what they are going through when they ask for help. read more

I had a very last minute print job for a funeral program. We learned that if we wanted to do a showing, the venue required the service to be within 7 days of passing. This put us in an incredibly stressful time crunch to design the materials and print hundreds of copies, on top of it being Christmas Eve-Eve, we thought we were out of luck. I called around to different print stores and was discouraged time and time again. I finally called Staples in Mission Valley and immediately explained the situation to Avery. She handled with kindness, understanding, and urgency. I have no idea how she did it, but she definitely sacrificed her time to get the 500 programs to us in less than 24 hours. My family was in tears and are forever grateful for Avery's professionalism and accommodation in our time of need. I have shopped at Staples for many, many years and highly recommend them. My last purchase was a basic office chair which I had to assemble. Unfortunately there were issues assembling it, but finally got it put together. It is their lower end chair, even though I use it daily, I recommend getting a better one, other than the lower end one. I know years ago I purchased the same basic model and never had a problem, until after many years if just fell apart. But not that happy with the one I have now. Otherwise Staples is a great place to buy your office supplies. So check them out next time you need that office item. read more

Came to get my Covid vaccine card laminated because they were offering this service for free. My card ended up getting stuck in the machine and the employees told me I would have to get another one. I told them I'll wait a bit to see if they could get it out and was told that even if they did get it out it would be laminated so much that it would not be legible. I asked them to let me know if they could get it out and they said it would be highly unlikely, that I should just get a new one. I gave them my number in the event that they could get it out and was never contacted. Very unprofessional. I'm not even gonna try to get my new one laminated. read more

I have been going to this Staples for a very long time and the staffs helpfulness & polite demeanor towards customers has plummeted. They don't seem to have or want to give answers to problems and don't listen to customers or try to help them. I did an online print order and it was ready within the same day, within a couple hours. The Staples website is really easy to maneuver through to order prints. The store is a HUGE space, but seemed like they did not have a lot of merchandise in stock, in comparison to other Staples stores. So if you're a teach in need of a bulk of supplies, maybe use this Staples location as a last resort. read more

Poor customer service in the copy and print area. Carol was assisting and she basically decided she didn't want to help us at all. A customer standing in line felt bad for us and gave us directions on how to print out an email. When we needed help with the printer Carol tried to ignore us again and go out of her way to help another person walking up to the counter who had not even arrived in customer service yet. When I asked her directly if she had a problem and was in some way upset with us. She said no.and gave us a fake smile. Really surprising just how rude she went out of her way to be. I went needing prints made of a few small paintings(9X16). I've been to multiple Staples across the country and had success so I was hopeful to a similar outcome. I asked a young lady what's my best route, expressing that I needed the best quality and she pointed to the copiers. Then her co worker, another younger guy with a ponytail and a mask confirmed that the copiers were my answer. So I use the copiers, the quality was exactly what I feared, poorly done. Why have section dedicated to copy/print if the end quality isn't good? Why have staff supposed to help in the copy/print section of the store that offer little to zero help? I called 2 times today. The first time I was on hold for 10 minutes and hung up on. The second time I called I was on hold for 18 minutes. I was told only one person was working but that's not my problem. Staples needs to hire more people - their customer service is terrible. This 5 star rating is based on only 1 visit. I usually shop for my office supplies at Walmart or amazon ( it's cheaper) but I needed some pens ASAP. So I stopped into this location. Immediately I was greeted. Then I head over to the pen isle and a employee right away asked me for help. Now normally I always say no , especially for something as basic as looking for pens. Well this morning I was feeling different so I said yes I need a good pen. Well we went back and forth talking about pens and she was very knowledgeable and even recommended a Pen she personally uses. All in all now looking back, it's kind of funny how serious our conversation ended up about pens, but yet I appreciate it because if I'm making any kind of purchase I want to be happy with it. Initially, I would have probably given Staples a zero due to the product I initially received from picking up a Copy & Print Project in store. My company paid upwards of $65 for 5 18" x 12" SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT Color Posters, what I picked up in-store was 5 flimsy 18" x 12" sheets of paper. I WAS NOT HAPPY and rather upset about the product and service. The sales associate called over a Manager (Merrick) who was quick to investigate the issue. The issue he found was that ONLINE offered a paper service that they DID NOT have in store. He noted that the Copy Print Associate who completed the project should have called to inform me of the materials issue, instead of printing/delivering a sub-par product. Merrick's solution: He offered to mount the sheets for me for an additional charge. He could sense that I wasn't that happy with the option, understanding that we already paid $65 and this wasn't MY mistake, but rather STAPLES. Merrick was very understanding and redid the entire project better than I expected- Free of charge. In 30 minutes of waiting (I left to run other errands for the office), I left with 5 beautiful 18" x 12" foam board, laminated signs. Merrick was sure to let me know how much this project was going to cost ($95), but rectified the issue seamlessly. He was beyond helpful and went above and beyond for customer satisfaction. read more

Staples offers TSA Pre-check but does not live up to his promise and they do not even care. I made an appointment for TSA pre-check at Staples Mission Valley 3 weeks in advance; cancelled previous appointments I had so I could be on time. Received confirmation reminders every other day during the week. I showed up 15 minutes prior to my appointment, a clerk told me the TSA agent would come to his office in a few minutes. After 20 minutes waiting I asked to talk to the manager (by this time there were 4 more people waiting for TSA pre-check all of them had appointments). When I finally got a hold of the manager he simply said : "TSA services are closed for the day. Something came up and the guy had to leave". When asked what I should do to get the service I required he simply said "you can go to another Staples that offers TSA. They will not honor your appointment. You will be considered a walk-in". I drove to Staples at Sport Arena. Talked to the manager who said they had the TSA office but no agent yet. Drove to Staples at Pacific beach talked to the manager who said the TSA agent was booked for the day and could not take walk-ins. Bottom line. Staples sucks, lies, does not deliver and do not honor his promises. No customer service at all. If I could give negative stars they would get all of them. If you want TSA Pre-check you better go to AAA. read more

I rarely need to go to staples. Even more rarely would I need the use of a FAX MACHINE. The average person today, my friends included, who laugh at my expense to us such equipement. Anyway, the time came and I needed to use it. I visited this location while on the phone with my mom at another location. The one i was at was clearly the winner and u fortunately the one mama was at was the loser. I was having issues with the fax coming through for about 15-20 minutes. The asscoiate on my end was troubleshooting, assuring me, and taking charge of the entire situation. The one my mom was at couldnt careless. The manager at the 1880 Camino de la Reina San Diego, CA 92108 United States Stepped in, used her OWN cellphone, and spoke to the associate at the other store and ended up speaking to their manager to resolve this issue. I don't generally shop at this Staples but since I was in the neighborhood I stopped by to make a few copies and pick up some supplies. The copy center was busy. The copy staff was friendly and tried very hard to make the wait as short as possible (thank you). Making a simple copy use to be simple (drop in your coin, select the amount of copies and push start) now with all the new technology it has become a bit tricky so of course I needed help (LOL). When searching for my supply items it turns out they were out of everything I needed (bummer). So needless to say I was a little disappointed because I expect an office supply store to always have the office supplies I need. Overall the store was clean and the people working were friendly but I will need to pick up my office supply item from somewhere else "say" (Walmart). read more

I am reviewing the copy center in this review. I must say that I was not pleased. I am usually quick to dismiss most forms of bad service, as there are always bad days. Yet I feel like this store was just being downright lazy. I came in to print a few documents, because I don't have a printer at home. I went to a different Staples previously, and the lady at the desk promptly printed from my flash drive what I needed, with very friendly service. At THIS Staples, I walk in to see a sign on the counter saying that the printing service is backed up for 8 hours, so it is self-serve only. Now, I didn't know that you could use a flash drive for self-serve, so I went to the counter to ask for help. The lady told me that they were backed up and pointed at the self-serve area and said to do it myself. I told her that I needed to use a file and she told me that I could do it at the self-serve, in a manner as if I should have known that already and tried to make me feel dumb. So I went over there, dismissing the comment as a miscommunication, still not bothered yet. As I am printing, I see that same lady and a bunch of other employees in the back chit chatting with some girl in a backpack, presumably a random friend that they know. All the while, a phone kept ringing and nobody came to answer. I didn't see them doing any copy jobs at all, so I didn't understand how they are backed up for 8 HOURS. All the while, someone kept stating on the intercom "Copy Center, please answer the phone". Finally, an employee from a different department came by and answered and helped that customer, but when she left, the same thing happened. The phone rang and nobody answered, and the intercom went on again telling them to answer. Sadly, I have to go back here again because I need to print some more stuff, but I'm definitely not going to ask for any help from these lazy employees that they have here. It's unfortunate because I am going here because the store is near where I live and the printing prices are not bad, so I don't have time to look for another place to print at. Let's just say that if you really need something printed for your business, go to a real professional, not these kids that they have that don't want to do any work. read more

Staples brand products just seem to be of higher quality than what you'll find at those other places. Hey, paper is paper and pens are pens. I'm not afraid to buy generic. Their rewards program is a great incentive and the copy attendants are always on the ball and orders are ready on time. I've been a loyal Staples shopper exclusively for my small business since 2001. In the last year I've seen the service and quality of their products decline more than ever before - to the point I'd be surprised if they are still around in another year. I had a serious issue with an in-store order pick up at this location. They cancelled items off my order because they "couldn't find them since they remodeled the store" It took 3 times longer to try to get my order fixed than if I had not done in-store pickup. They had one checkout open backed up with five people waiting to check out, and three staff-members trying to fix my order. When I brought the issue to the attention of their main office, I got a generic form letter back saying we'll bring the issue to the attention of the store manager, and advised me since the "store did fix the issue while you were in the store so no compensation will be issued." Wow, I'm speechless. I wasted an hour of my day due to their employee's incompetence and they need to highlight the fact that I am not deserving of any compensation for my inconvenience or time. read more

This review is for the UPS within this staples. I went in yesterday to ask about shipping a package and was met with a very rude woman. She clearly did not want to be there nor did she want to help. After asking about shipping a package overseas she had a very short response and immediately walked into the back room. This location offers walk-in TSA appointments; however, they mostly dont care to serve customers seeking this service. I indeed did walk-in at 2:30. When asked to direct me to TSA pre-check area, front staff referred me to book an appointment online then apprehensively told me where to go. I walked over to the cube set-up for TSA. A staples staff member comes over to tell me he's going to wait for his 2:40 and 2:50 appointment, then take a break from 3-330pm. Informs me I can wait around until then. I did choose to wait for 30 minutes. In the event that the appointments did not show, figured he may be able to work me in. Waited until 3, no one showed and no one was helped for this service. Try an appointment (not walk-in) or going to a center with more motivated workers. read more

I went to Staples for ink for my printer, batteries, and a book holder. The first guy, Pablo, I asked about a book holder, got mad at me, and gave me a bunch of attitude. He said they don't have those. I asked if he was sure, and he got on the walkie-talkie, and asked if they had book opener's. I told him that's not what it's called, and he said what is it then? I'm waiting for the nomenclature! So I walked away from him, and went to the front. I asked the guy at the front counter. If they had book holders, he searched on his phone and came up with scented bookmarks. I told him I was looking for a book holder, and showed him a picture of them, and he told me they don't have those. When I was checking out, they have a sign on the front counter that says 25% off for veterans on all in-store purchases, for Veterans Day. I asked if they had military discount, and he said no, and then I pointed at the sign, and he said, "oh I guess we do." he rang me up, and scanned the QR code for the 25% discount, and it only discounted the batteries. So I referred to the sign that says 25% discount on ALL in-store purchases. He said they don't do that for ink. So I asked to speak to a manager, he came over and used some other way to give me a 6.5% discount on the ink, and did not honor the 25% discount on all in-store purchases. When I got back out to my car I googled book holders, and it says they have two in stock in the Staples that I was just in, but I can't bring myself to go back in there and spend any more money at a place that is full of employees so inept, and incompetent. This is one of the better Staples I have visited in San Diego, and my complaints are few. The store seemed clean and well organized and the staff were helpful when approached, but the print center did seem understaffed and a bit more chaotic. I used one of the rental computers, which was overpriced in my opinion, considering the incredibly slow internet speed. If you're going to charge by the minute, then at least upgrade your internet speed so it doesn't end up costing people extra. As a result, I was charged more because it took me longer to finish my task. Overall, great, but not excellent. If I was coming for any other office needs, I wouldn't hesitate to come back here, just not to use their computer rentals. Actual score: 4.5/5 read more

I had to pay to Log on to their computer, only to get a bounce back message from their print service that my files were not accepted.
