I spent 3 hours there today looking at 3 different Kia's, I finally decided on one. Dan did all my paperwork for the car; keep in mind I told him before I looked at any of his cars that I was using a card to pay. That way there wasn't any surprises when it was time to pay. He added 100 dollars to the total, but because he did not tell me about the added 3%, he let me walk over 100 bucks. He lost a good customer. I caution anybody that does business with Dan to be careful. I will not recommend anybody I know to do business with Star Auto, nor will I ever go there again. I purchased my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Star Auto a couple of years ago, and I'm still in love with it! I've previously owned two Jeeps; a CJ7 and a Comanche pickup; but unfortunately when a new vehicle was needed, I didn't have the funds to get another Jeep. SO when my last car was on it's last leg, I was determined to replace it with another Jeep. Being an "older" woman and not savvy at buying used vehicles, I did my homework on what to look for and began my search. I kept finding that all of the other dealers prices were a lot higher than Star Auto, and Dan had also had decades of driving and selling Jeeps and they had little experience with Jeeps. The Jeeps I went to see at other dealers weren't even as well kept as the Jeeps I'd seen at Star Auto for lot less money. I went to see Dan (Star Auto) first, and then I kept looking, but nobody had what I wanted at a price I could afford. I was buying without financing because I didn't want to risk losing my vehicle if something were to happen to my income and I couldn't pay the loan. I went back to Star Auto another time or two after seeing Jeeps that he had advertised that I would likely purchase. Each time someone had beat me to the punch! I looked for months and kept coming back to Dan at Star Auto. There were three Jeeps that were within my price range the last visit, and I checked each one out thoroughly. I ended up purchasing the exact same Jeep that Dan had pointed out to me on my first visit, after I told him what I wanted. (Straight 6 engines came highly recommended in my research.) I had also told Dan that this would likely be my last vehicle, and I wouldn't be able to afford any major repairs other than normal maintenance/wear & tear. Dan assured me that it would pass inspection, and I took it to my friend's mechanic to have a sticker put on. It had a front bearing issue that needed to be fixed for it to pass so I had the garage fix it since it was there anyway. I had to go back to Star Auto and get some paperwork, and I mentioned it to Dan about the work being done. He said he would have fixed it for me if I'd brought it back to him, but it was too late since the garage was already doing the work. I am used to the world of, when you buy a car used, it's "AS IS" and not to expect anything once you have taken ownership. Much to my surprise, Dan reimbursed me the cost of the repair right there on the spot. He stood by his promise that the car would be inspectable and he is a man of his word. It's been a couple of years now, and I've had to fix a couple of things that is not unusual for a vehicle that old; but it's never failed me. We just had about a foot of snow and I was so happy to drive out of our untouched driveway as if it were summertime. I would buy another Jeep from Dan in a heartbeat, though I'm hoping not to need to; and I'd recommend Dan at Star Auto to anyone looking for a used Jeep and an honest deal. read more

I highly recommend Dan and Star Auto. Dan specializes in Jeeps. I Bought an older Jeep Grand Cherokee for the kids car. Car is clean runs impeccably, and had no annoying Check Engine Lights on. I recently bought a Jeep WJ from Dan, for a fare price and he even put in a new muffler for me. I wouldn't recommend this place for someone who wants a car in perfect shape ready to drive. These cars are sold with no inspection. Most will need some work done to get them in good running condition. EX: Tune-ups, Brakes, detailing, Leaking gaskets (they are jeeps after all) It's a great place to go if you want to buy a used car and do the work yourself, saving the money the big dealers will charge you. The reason I'm giving him a 3 out of 5 is because he waited until the last moment after I had paid to let me in on the fact that one of the tires had been leaking air, after the previous week he told me the tires were good on the Jeep. I know it's a small thing but made it seem a little shady like what else is this guy not telling me. What the Jeep needed - new brakes all around - New front brake calipers (binding) - New spark plugs - Air filter - valve cover gasket (leaking oil) - starter (oil leaking caused failure) - alternator (bearings were grinding) - ball joints (worst was the pitman arm) - steering box adjustment (Jeep wobble) - Oil change - Front and Rear differential oil change - Transmission fluid and filter change - Transfer case fluid change - Solenoid in transmission failed (code p1756 easy and common repair) - coolant flush - power steering fluid change - Tire repair (believe is the valve stem) - Brake lines will need replacement due to. corrosion. Dan's mechanic did a temporary patch, and a bad system bleed. - Front headlights were very fogged out and high beams needed one bulb. - Hood and hatch struts were all failing. I understand that Dan didn't know or care to look at many of these issues, witch is okay everyone needs to make money. In all if you want to do the work yourself it can still be a good deal. Or if you want the hand holding all work done for you experience I would suggest a large dealership. I think Dan is a good honest hard working guy compared to many other used car salesman. read more

I had recently posted a negative review of Star Auto I'm reposting another review because I didn't deal with the owner in question I also want to say that that last review should be disregarded because Dan is a great and reputable guy and he straightened out all my issues with the last purchase he was unaware of the problem and quickly reached out to me and we met and he straightened out everything it's seldom that you need a person in today's world double acknowledge a mistake even if it's not his and go out of his way to correct it so I would recommend if you're in the market for a Jeep that he would be a person that you would want to seek out and do business with disregard my last review read more

I did not have a good experience with this dealership. I bought a jeep Cherokee from him that broke down the same day. While I know these things can happen, he did state that he had gone through the car and driven it with no issues at all, which he couldn't have done. He insisted that he would have his own mechanic do the repairs, but wouldn't pay for the tow and the repairs his mechanic did were faulty and the drive shaft had to be replaced by my own mechanic anyway within a week. This gentleman seems honest at first, but he definitely sold me a mechanically unsafe car and knew it. Lesson learned on my part, but this dealership is not one I would ever recommend. Also, his mechanic that didn't do the correct repairs also found some other repairs that needed to be done and significantly overcharged me from his quote. The purchase I made from Star Auto was a nightmare, and the car is still giving me trouble 4 months later. This guy is not honest. It is a shady business. I travelled a long way to purchase vehicle, I asked I'd it came with plates to drive home, he stated it did. Well I was driving on the way home and got pulled over and told the cops that he probably put the wrong plates on. So that cop called. The cop stated that he hung me out to dry, he's stated that I knew that plates were bad. Car got towed, charged with miss use of plates. Don't trust this place they are liars if they lie about this knowing this with my kids were in the car, imagine what he well lie about the car. Buyer beware!!!!!! read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALER STAR AUTO!!!! I bought a 2007 Mercedes C class from them. Car looked mint inside and out. They gave me less than a quarter tank of gas. Two days later I filled it up and had a strong gas leak. Looked up online found out common problem with Gas sending unit leaking on this model. Once you fill it up beyond 3/4 you get the gas smell. The seller Rjukan said he was driving it a month before he sells it. I'm sure he knew this was there, that is why he gave me less than 1/4 of a tank of gas. That cost $625.00 to fix. NOW for the Worst News: 4-5 days after that (a week and a half after I bought the car) the Check Engine light went off. I took it to the Mercedes Dealer and 3 different mechanics. I found out I need a Timing Chain, and Balance Shift kit which will cost me $6,000.00 to fix.....That is more than I spent for the car. I called Rjukan and told him I want my money back, he told me I signed paperwork and it is not his problem. He said I just have Bad Luck. I do not believe I have Bad Luck I have a BAD DEALER STAR AUTO. There is no question in my mind that he Shut Off the Check Engine light and sold me the car. And that was the opinion of the other Mechanics that I took this too. SO to recap: within a 2 Days I needed a Gas Sending Unit and a about a week later I needed a Timing Chain, Balance Shift kit at the cost of $6,625.00 and the Star Auto Calls that BAD LUCK. WOW did I get Taken!!!! DON'T BUY FROM THIS DEALER. I must mention that he offered to help me. His help consisted of trying to find a repair shop that would fix this for $3,000, instead of $6,000. Again my problem not their problem. They take no responsibility for selling a car that has problems and Do Not stand behind the cars they sell. NO Lemon Law in NH - He gets away with this and I am stuck with a lemon.....In my opinion Star Auto Sold me a Lemon. They only care about themselves and Not the Customer.
