Great family run place to eat right down to the toddler following mom while she took orders and itty bitty baby in daddy's arms while mom delivered food to tables. Really good food. My husband got the Mac n cheese for adults (which was sooooo good and sooooo many carbs lol) and I got the sizzling steak (rib eye) on the French baguette sandwich. We enjoyed the waitress there. The fries were a little soft for my liking but overall good food and good conversation. After a long day of driving we stop in at Star Bar Grill (we were staying at Diamond Resorts, so very convenient). We were seated after a few minutes and told our server would be right with us. Thirty minutes later...no server, no drinks, nothing. After 20 minutes we even said something to the staff but they just sat and were on their cell phones. When the food arrived, it was cold and uneatable. Examples include hash browns that were so saturated in grease they were beyond the point of mush and sausage patties and bacon burnt beyond recognition. After all but one meal arrived, the cook came out and stated that a meal ordered was unavailable. It wasn't communicated to us until the entire table had their food. I have been here before and the Branson Beast is my go to sandwich. I just wish this place had better inside atmosphere and the service were better. I have watched this place change over the years and not sure it is getting better. The Beast is fantastic with pulled pork, sausage, and brisket. The salad bar was also great, tons of items to choose from. My friend ordered a French dip and they ended up bring a not great looking steak on a roll. They took it back, gave him a huge plate of fries to wait with and then brought out a sandwich that looked meager and my friend felt was the steak sandwich sliced up. Either way, he wasn't happy with it. You now order at the counter, no waitress, and the place was empty at 1 pm. I know their BBQ is great and my brisket was good. I feel bad the place just doesn't seem to excel in the service or atmosphere department. If u want bbq, burgers, etc in a wide open empty room, this is the place. Stopped here for Sunday brunch. We chose to eat outside because of air circulation and it was a nice day. They took our drink order but then we didn't receive our drinks. Waited about 30 minutes before anyone took our food order. Eventually, we got our drinks. Waited about 30-40 more minutes for our food. Didn't get the beignet appetizer that we ordered. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Eggs were undercooked and hash browns were overcooked. Hollandaise sauce had separated. Mimosa was okay, but I am not sure that there was much alcohol in it. Not enough for the price. Had to find someone to get drinks refilled. Waitress said that they were short staffed. Obviously. There are other places in Branson to eat. read more

Let our bad experience be a warning to anyone reading this. We had a large party come in Labor Day weekend. We called several weeks in advance and locked in a reservation for breakfast. We even confirmed that they were ready for us a few days ahead of time. Needless to say, they were NOT ready. The service was atrocious. Most members in our party waited 2 hours for our food. About half of us didn't even get what we ordered and some asked for refunds. When we asked for a refund, they did not apologize for our wait and they did not refund the full amount. They still made us pay for our coffee, mimosa, AND an $8 tip until we demanded that they remove the tip. Most places would have comped the whole thing, but not Star Bar! They were rude, unapologetic, and unhelpful. They even lied to us and said they ran out of bacon and about 15 minutes later, one of the people in our party had bacon included on his plate! Go figure. The experience that me and my husbands family (who are American Chinese) were on vacation this last week in Branson, MO and decided to go to Star Bar Grill for a Fathers Day Lunch......what a HUGE mistake!! So, let me say first that the food; was excellent however the racist and derogatory experience ruined the whole lunch. To start things off, we go in (there were 10 of us, all adults) and get seated a little after 11 a.m. by a very nice young lady. The place is getting busy for a late noon rush with it being Fathers Day. We ordered all of our drinks from our young female waitress, not the hostess. She was polite also.....after we all decided what we wanted to order, we place our orders. Then, as I look up, (and let me say we are seated near the kitchen and grill entrance at the front,) I notice the 'obviously gay' male Caucasian waiter, Sean, who is around mid 30's in age get some glasses of water, and looks back at the female waitress who looks like she is mixed race herself, and does the 'Ching Chong Chinamen' slanty eyes to her, not knowing I see him do this. I immediately get up from my seat and approach him, this is the conversation we have: Me; 'So, can I ask you to keep your rude, and racist slanty eyed jokes and comments to youself where I cannot see them, my husband's and his family is Chinese, and I don't like it!" Sean: 'Oh, that is just a funny little joke between her and me' I responded with, " are you kidding!!! Do you just realize what you did, and with you being gay, you KNOW racism, hatred and being bullied for being who you are is like!!" he says, oh, I will, i'm sorry it offended you" I go back to the table and tell Bruce and the rest of his family what happened. I sit for another minute, and I walk outside to cool off. When I get to the front door, I ask the hostess where 'the male waiter is, and what is his name"? She says, 'oh, he is outside taking an order." I stepped outside and he looks at me, and I tell him; "I am so pissed right now at what and how you treated my family just now, I am ready to let you know how I feel!!!!" He steps over to me, and says please "i'm sorry that I made you mad......' Just then, the mother of the local family he is helping, (typical white family with their "shoot to kill' t shirts on) stands up and comes at me and says, "Oh! No! you need to take your Faggot assed Chink loving family away from here, we don't put up with that shit......" I walk back in to tell the family 'Come on! we are not going to eat here and put up with this shit, I got called a "faggot assed chink lover"! Just then Sean stops me as the family is all getting up to leave; "Please! I am so sorry for what she said, Please will you all stay and eat, I will pay for your family's meal, please stay". After arguing whether or not to stay here, however 'the Father in the group", Bruce's brother in law had wanted to eat here.....I responded with, 'Okay, I will accept your apology and we will eat here on those terms!" Then a couple minutes later the rude racist woman's husband from out side comes in to sit at the bar and watch me with my family, the she comes in to go to the bathroom. She walks past us and just laughs. After we all finished out lunch, the manager Sabrina comes over and asks if everything was okay? and says she is sorry for what happened. Sean did pay for the lunch, however I will NEVER EVER walk or darken their door again, and that is IF I ever go back to Branson!! Disgusting behavior. As we are walking out, Sean approaches me and says, "I am so embarrassed and sorry for what I did, I promise I will never do that kind of joking again." I say to him, you are not a 5 year old kid and it is not the 60's anymore, you should be embarrassed and ashamed for what you did. We leave. read more

If you enjoy prime meats cooked to perfection then be ready to be wowed! My husband and I had the smoked prime rib dinner. It was so tender we cut it with our forks and the flavor was amazing! Hands down the best we have ever had!!! Decided to go back the next night and try something different. Husband got the catfish dinner and I had the rib-eye sandwich. It was simply amazing. I walked into the Star Bar on December 29th at approximately 8:30pm as soon as I entered I noticed 3 people sitting at the bar, no one said anything, or greeted me. The 3 people at the the bar glared at me like I wasn't welcomed, then they got up and stumbled out of the bar, obviously intoxicated. Then later I find out 2 of the 3 were the owners. If I could give no stars I would but you have to give at least 1 to leave a review. I personally wouldn't ever spend money at any business that the owners make you feel so unwelcome the moment I walk in the door.
