Star Brite Cleaners keeps reasonable hours, is dependable, has a friendly staff, and is priced fairly. I've been going there for several years and they've never damaged or lost anything. They also don't care when I unintentionally use them as closet as I forget to pick up shirts for weeks on end sometimes :/ They offer next day pickup for free, and give you the option of an iron-on label, or a temporary pinned-on label. I'm not sure about all their rates, but my last pickup was ~$12 for 2 button down shirts and a pair of pants. I'd consider giving them 5 stars, but I don't know that anything really sets them apart; afterall, this is a dry cleaner place. I like them. read more

A nightmare. They ruined my Calvin Klein formal dress that I paid $300 for a few years back and are only giving me $75 for it because they said "it's depreciated in value." It was in perfect condition until they ruined it with a heat seal mark on the back. (The heat seal is used to put their bar code tag on the garment to keep track of it.) I went to Star Brite because I thought if I paid more, they would take care of my clothes. This this did not turn out to be the case, unfortunately. When I asked them to make up the difference with throwing in some free dry cleaning, Tony said she would ask the owner about it but it was unlikely. I'm very disappointed. And I've forever lost a gorgeous dress that will cost $500 to replace now. read more

Hats off to Kelley, the owner, for his follow up after my last update. I have a lot of respect for people with integrity, and he's one of them. He was generous and thoughtful in working through my concerns with me. I will take any future concerns, beyond the really little stuff, directly to him. He's managing a number of locations and his staff don't always pass along this stuff to him in a consistent way. Star Brite UPDATE: Yesterday, the owner of Star Bright Cleaners called me. Since my recent review was the first time he had been properly informed about the woeful treatment I endured at is establishment, I thought maybe he would be seeking a reconciliation. But no. "What's this shit you posted?" was his first comment. Recognizing his 'intimidation-first' style of customer service, I hung up. Then he texted some schoolyard bully epithets, which I deleted and blocked his number. My wife reminded me though, that the cleaners has our address and Kelly Blake has previously threatened me with violence, so I thought I should mention that in case he continues to escalate. But here's the real heartbreak in this whole episode. Kelly is in desperate need of help. He is emotionally immature, has an anger problem, is selfish, narcissistic and incapable of treating others in a manner that reflects their demonstrable value to him. He's a self-saboteur. Therein lies the dark heart of Star Brite's problems. That's why he can't keep good employees; and the ones he has are either resigned to being victims or are just as socially brutish as is he; and his outlets consistently average no more than 2-3 stars on customer reviews. If he would only seek the help he needs. Then he could be healed; his business could thrive; his customers would praise him; his employees would gladly go to work every day and offer him the homage of gratitude and loyalty. I guess sometimes you've just got to take the bad with the good. The good is the super nice lady that works there most of the time. Always happy to see you and polite. Two weeks ago I couldn't stop telling her how awesome she was because I dropped off loads of shirts early Thursday morning and said I'd be back that night to pick it up since I needed it for Friday. I worked late and by the time I got there it was 7:15 (lights were out, sign says closed at 7) so I start to drive to the domain to buy a new shirt for Friday. But she hadn't left yet and ran outside to stop me before I drove off. That my friends is great customer service. Here is a lady that had at least worked a 12 hour shift and she went the extra mile for me. For her: 5 Gold Stars. Unfortunately, they also have a dude who works there who makes absolutely no attempt to do anything other than the bare minimum. Barely. BEWARE- BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES: So sad to make this update. I actually became friends with Jenette, the manager because SHE is so great. In spite of them having lost or damaged clothing previously, Jenette had always been able to get the ownership to reimburse me with store credit. However, now, they have continued to lose and/or damage clothing but refuse to do anything about it. So, today was the last time I'll step through their door (it was to pick up last remaining items). I'm a regular cleaners customer and spend upwards of $200/month on dry cleaning. After they lost the 3 latest shirts I became worried when the owner hadn't called me for over 3 weeks despite repeated attempts to reach them. Finally, I received a call from Toni who said she was working on it but no follow up ever came. So, after another week, I spoke to Jenette and let her know that if Toni didn't call me back and inform me how they would reimburse me for my lost clothing (again), I'd leave as a customer. I never heard a word. Now, add to that feedback I'm hearing from my neighbors who have told similar stories and I'm out. One neighbor took his hypoallergenic comforter in. After going through several weeks of being ignored (like I was) they returned to him a down comforter with green crayon marks all over it. He was suprised because he's ALLERGIC to down! Not even his comforter (wonder who it belongs to) and no reply back on where his was. He followed up and said, "do I need to get an attorney" to which they said, "fine, sue us". WOW. That's too much drama for dry cleaning. It's a pretty basic service: I give you dirty clothes, you clean and return them. Time to move on- I encourage you to do the same. read more

Terrible and late. I went to pick up my interview outfit a day after it was supposed to be ready. One piece, my blouse, wasn't ready, but it was supposedly just arriving in a truck. Nick, the dude who works there, told me I should go ahead and pay for it. I did and then I waited around for a bit in the area. When I came back, I was told that they could not locate my blouse, and I was refused any kind of refund for the piece I didn't get back! I would have to talk to the manager but she was unreachable. I eventually got my blouse back a week later, but this ended up costing me alot of time and money -- I had to buy a replacement blouse before my interview. I moved and I still drive 15 minutes to keep going here. The desk lady is super nice, they never break buttons, and they accept a ton of coupons (check the back of your HEB receipts). With coupons, their women's "blouses" cost almost as little as a man's shirt--that's my biggest dry cleaning pet peeve, when my button up shirts cost 2-3x more than my husband's button up shirts! I wish I could find a place as reliable and affordable closer to my new house, but until I do, I'm going to keep making the trip. I'm shocked to see a few bad reviews on Yelp. I've been using Star Brite for at least 2 years and they have never gotten anything back late or damaged anything, not even a cracked button. One time a hem fell out of a skirt of mine and they repaired it for free since it happened on their watch, even though I bet it wasn't their fault. I wish I could give Star Brite negative stars!!!! 1st visit--took two weeks to clean my brand new down comforter and then the tag had fallen off three white comforters at the cleaning facility and I had to guess which was mine, via phone. Fnally got it back and it had been shoved in some random bag and there were several dead tree leaves in the bag too. 2nd visit--I'm too forgiving......two weeks to clean padded mattress cover and stain was not removed and no explanation for it andit was only a kitty hairball spot. AND, a 6 inch portion of the edge seem was shredded and the stuffing gone......this was an almost new mattress pad. OMG, NEVER GO HERE!!!! read more

words don't describe the sub par customer service and attention detail at star brite. they ripped 2 of my shirts and then tried to blame me for the damage. furthermore, when talking to the manager she offered very little assistance and continued to interject scenarios in which i damaged the shirt. insinuating that i have the time and the inclination to go looking for damages on very expensive dress shirts. their fix: we'll place a patch on your $100 brooks brother shirts because that should take care of it. they also offered some type of minimal credit, as though you'd readily sign up to bring additional expensive garments to get laundered at a place that was willing to take no responsibility for their actions, has poor customer service, and damages product. long story short, take your clothes anywhere else but this place, hand wash them in the sink, air dry them, but only if you want them back in the same condition that you delivered them. if you're ok with receiving your garments back in an altered state, then by all means go to star brite. worst customer service experience i've had in a while.. read more

I would only recommend going there during the morning hours when the polite, conscientious and helpful woman works at the counter. They have had trouble consistently keeping an employee for the afternoon shift and the newest one, a man named Idrice has made me only go there during the morning hours. They have a new manager - Idris - who is obnoxious and strange. When I dropped off my clothes I gave the worker a coupon I'd received in the mail. I asked him if he wanted me to hold on to it for pickup, but he said no, he'd put it in the system. When I went to pick my clothes up, Idris told me it wasn't in the system and was going to charge me the full amount. I argued with him and he finally went and looked for it; it had been put in a box. He found it. I guess looking the first time was too difficult. He then told me I'd have to wait while he took two other customers, one of whom had a stack of laundry. I asked if I could just leave the cash for the amount over the coupon, but no. He then told me that he didn't have to honor the coupon if he didn't want to. Then he couldn't work the cash register in order to give me change. I just went out to wait outside so I didn't have to listen to him anymore. I went back after ten minutes and he was still stumbling about but had changed his tune and I got smiles and "blessed day" out of him. It was weird. In the end he honored the coupon, but he certainly liked playing his bit of power. Needless to say, they've lost a customer for life. read more
