This might be one of the best kept secrets in Omaha. This is a gem for authentic Indian cuisine. We have tried a ton of dishes and they are all really good. Highlights would be masala dosa, lamb korma, chicken tikka masala, samosas, garlic naan, and chicken tikka to name a few. We took our orders to go, but they have ample seating. And the presentation when dining in is exquisite. Will definitely try it eventually. Also love that the grocery store is right next to them. Always grabbing something new there. Stopped by Desi Bites for a quick bite, and overall it was... fine. The food was actually pretty good -- flavorful, fresh, and surprisingly cheap for what you get. Definitely solid value. The downside? The lady working the counter wasn't exactly radiating joy. Not rude, just gave off strong "I'd rather be anywhere else" energy. No smile, no warmth -- just straight transactional vibes. Still, the food did its job, and my wallet didn't cry afterward. I was stuck at work one evening while my husband and the entire family went out to eat at Desi Bites. My husband was sweet to bring me dinner at work though! He brought me the veg Manchurian noodles because I love IndoChinese. I don't know what I expected from this dish, but it wasn't this, and I was very pleasantly surprised! The noodles and Manchurian curry (for a lack of a better word) came in separate compartments of a takeout container. The noodles on their own very actually very tasty! It wasn't super heavily seasoned, but had some vegetables and good flavor. The Manchurian was a heavy sauce with Manchurian kofta/dumplings. I did get it on the spicier side and it definitely delivered! This was packed with flavor and spice and everything nice. The sauce was thick and the dumplings were perfect - they were dense, but also soft. I mixed it with the noodles and honestly it was a very satisfying dinner! Probably not a pick if you struggle with heartburn as it has quite a bit of oil and spice, but I would definitely get this dish again. The food here was soooo delicious which is why writing this review is breaking my heart. I really wanted to become a regular here, but I will never return to this place. I gave this restaurant two tries, and the service failed me both times. Staff was very unfriendly both times I went. The first time I went, I noticed people having trouble hearing the cashier. When I asked her to repeat something, she had attitude. I ordered the daily special and was charged the regular price anyways. I thought the total seemed a bit high, but I didn't realize until I got home because I had ordered entrees and appetizers for 6 people. The second time I went, I decided to use the online ordering to avoid the issue I experienced my first time. I placed my order, got a notification that it was ready, and went inside to pick it up. There were two cashiers and one was talking to another customer while the other was just standing there. I was going to ask about my order when I realized the online orders were sitting on the display case. As soon as I went over to find mine, both cashiers immediately came up to me asking my name. I tell them as I'm looking at the bag with my full name on it and they both deny I even placed an order. I politely point out that my name is on the bag and then they hand it to me without another word. While this isn't the worst service ever, it was definitely bad enough to rub me the wrong way. This is the only untidy Indian restaurant I have been to. There are really good Indian restaurants but this one is not one. I say this as coming from same world. Fly's flying around food, dirty tables , uncleaned. My wife almost puked and stopped eating . Service workers are nice and friendly. The Chicken 65 dosa was wonderfully spicy to my preferences. The sides to dip the dosa into was a great journey of flavors. Wow

When I went with a friend to try this place I really did not like it. It is a "fast casual" place where the menu is up above the counter and you just go up and order and they bring it out to serve you. When I perused the menu online I was impressed with its variety, but for a fast casual place, the prices were high. I ordered the Chicken Korma, my friend ordered one of the spicy fried chicken dishes and a veggie type of Massala. The woman who took our order messed it up my friend's order and when we went up to tell her she got very defensive until she realized she had made the mistake-that really bothered me because, as a former waitress, if you want customers to come back, you don't deal with your order mixup by being rude. She did not even apologize for the snafu. Back to the food, my Chicken Korma was inedible. It was mostly sauce with a few pieces of dark meat that made me think that they boiled the chicken and did not even bother to de bone it Honestly, I was so grossed out that I could not eat it. Other places where I have had it was served with nicely cut pieces of WHITE MEAT, which is delicious and dark meat grosses me out. It seemed that every chicken dish I saw was made with dark meat. My friend's Fried Chicken dish looked tasty, even though it was made with dark meat. Another annoying thing about the place was that you get your own crappy plastic silverware and a little machine where you get ice-water, it was a bit complicated and it was hard to turn off the water. They also gave you tiny cups to use, which I found to look cheap and stingy. They also serve lamb and goat dishes, no seafood. read more

Great value for the money, and delicious. It was very busy but the food was ready quickly. I heard that the tandori chicken was the best in Nebraska, and you can see a lot of students and locals like to eat here. Desi Bites needs to be on everyone's list of go-to Indian spots in Omaha. You know it's good when most of the clientele is Indian (and I'm one of them!) It is a very casual eatery where you order at the counter and they call your name to pick up the food at the front, so don't expect a traditional sit down Indian restaurant. My wife and I eat at Desi Bites at least 2x/month. The dosa and sambar are very well made, with the Mysore Masala Dosa my personal favorite due to the spice being spread across the entire dosa. For those that like flavor but not too much spice, I think it's safe to say you'll like Mysore Masala. My wife is obsessed with the Tandoori Chicken which is always made fresh and can take a bit longer to come out as a result. That's no issue to her because she says it is amazing. We have tried many chaats as well, but prefer the classic samosa chaat and gobi Manchurian. We ordered veg biriyani with mild spice level. But I don't know what they actually did! May be they misplaced with some other orders. It was so hot that we had to throw the food. The biriyani barely had any vegetables in it. We reported this next week in the restaurant but they did not ever bother to mention a single apologize , just told us that we will let them know. I've only had this place a few times but have always been very happy with everything. I really like how easy it is to order online, the meal descriptions, and the pictures. As someone that does not have a lot of experience with this type of food, I find it very helpful. The staff is friendly and my food has always been ready exactly when they say it will. The website allows you to track the progress of the order as well which is also done at the restaurant on a TV so everyone knows when they will get their meal. If you are getting take out be prepared to show your ID before you can get your food. The list of all orders including to go orders are listed on the tv so it's great they do this. Food was AWFUL! Disgusting. Will never order it again. Chicken tiki marsala was in some sort of thick custard like gross sauce and was full of onions. A few onions is OK but there were so many that it over took the entire flavor of the entire dish not to mention the weird texture of it all. i was excited to try this place but I didn't really like it. you order at a touch screen which is nice because it shows photos of all the food, but the photo wasn't really accurate to what I got. i ordered a fish meal that was really different from the photo, a completely different color and very saucy/soupy while the photo was a big portion of not very saucy fish. the meal came with only like 4 small pieces of white fish that were so so salty. i normally finish everything at a restaurant or take it home to not waste food but i had to throw this away because it was really salty with not very much flavor other than a little spice.
