Literally the day after we moved to Alhambra, I googled a mattress spot to buy a bed and by some miracle found this spot. My husband and I came in and were greeted by the sweetest dude named Pedro who was in the middle of making a dang mattress. Who does that anymore? I saw a stock of just quality mattresses still constructed with springs and some padding like the good ole days. I even saw a cute heart shaped one. We picked out our mattress and box spring, and were quoted a proper price and charged what, barely extra just to have it delivered? The next day! They even helped place it directly on the bed frame when they delivered it and put the old mattress on the street for me. People like the employees of Star Mattress are one of one. As for the bed? I melt into sleep every night. And it's a godsend for my husband's back. Looking forward to ordering more beds for our house one day. They're the absolute best. read more

After years of sleeping on college budget mattresses, I was looking for a good quality mattress, where I could rest and not wake up with back pain or neck pain. I was willing to invest on a long lasting mattress, but I didn't want to get it from a store because I was aware of their insane markups. So, I got in my car and drove up to this corner in LA to discover the most hidden gem in the city! Hands down! I knocked on the door, and I was greeted by a very friendly lady, who welcomed me to the actual factory. Once inside, she showed me the different options and price points. I was able to test the different mattresses and see how they are being made right there on the spot. That was really awesome. I was so convinced that I think I paid her 5 minutes later to buy one of those mattress. They even offer delivery for a small fee, which I highly recommend. After a couple of days, I got my awesome mattress. During the delivery the gentleman explained to me what's the proper to way to turn (and also flip) the mattress. Pedro is the man!!! My son decided to spring it on me (no pun intended) Sunday evening that his mattress is poking him. Ummm, ok! Can someone please go get my Mom of the Year Award? I guess I should have known it was time to replace, in fact it has been on my mind for quite some time but was one of those things I've sort of just put off, until he told me this - to which I felt so incredibly bad that I was hell bent on getting a mattress ASAP. Had a place been open on Sunday night I would have had one but every place was closed for the day. I called Star Mattress Solutions (which came very highly recommended to me by my boyfriend who has made many purchases here for decades). My first question was do they deliver to my address since I live no where near here. Sure enough! They do, and the price is right! I was so happy with the customer service from Pedro from the second he answered the phone. I told him what I wanted, he quickly sent over pictures and in this day and age as busy as I am I REALLY appreciate this. He makes things quick and simple. Which is my recipe for success I can't stand anything but simplest, quickest, most efficient way. He did ask if I wanted to come into the store, but really since my boyfriend had recommended this place and I'm not super picky about a new mattress for my son I was thrilled to just have the pics and not have to make the drive. I felt comfortable and trusted them completely, which is pretty unheard of for me. I chose what I wanted and by 11A this morning - after leaving my office, jumping out of my work clothes and cleaning a 15 year olds bedroom at 10A in the morning (no small task my friends) Pedro and his assistant were at our place and had the new set in my sons bedroom. I also asked him to help me move a couple other heavier items of furniture down stairs for me, which he did and they hauled away the old mattress. Service was splendid! A friend recommended this place to me and so I went a week ago. The store is small, but it's really a mattress factory where they make everything on site. You can see the inner workings of a mattress, which is really cool b/c how often do you ever get to see what actually goes into the bed you sleep on? They use coil springs and foam, and will customize your bed to your needs (soft, medium, firm, pillow top, double pillow top). Pedro was super helpful, knowledgable, and answered all my questions. There was no pressure to buy, just easy conversation! Their turn time is approximately 4 days, but I asked for delivery over the following weekend. I live in Santa Monica and they had no qualms about driving out here with my mattress. They called before arrival, were on time, and very friendly! They even offered to move my old mattress to my friend's place for me. I would totally recommend this place to anyone looking for a local made-in-USA by a craftsman.
