I've been using this company for 14 years. They have always been extremely professional and reliable. But today Andrew and Leo really impressed me. I don't write a ton of reviews but my recent experience was so wonderful I can't help but post. We became a new customer of Star Petroleum about a year and a half ago when they came out to service our Propane tank. The service team was so nice and they are so conveniently located that we decided to switch over our oil to them as well. We've been very happy with no complaints. Recently, just days before our vacation out of the country (of course), our oil tank spouted a small leak. We called to ask if we could patch the tank until we returned from our trip. They came right out and attempted to help with a short term solution. Because the small hole was right on the seam, it was not able to be patched. The team was so considerate and concerned about us being able to enjoy our vacation that they went above and beyond to help put us at ease. They were able to create a temporary resolution until we returned home from vacation and had their team coming out while we were gone (with my sister-in-law house/dog sitting) to monitor the situation and keep the hot water going with a small supply of oil sourced outside of the tank that they continued to refill. Every single person that has come out has been extremely helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Once we returned from our trip we found out that the annual service fee we pay (I think it is in the $60 / year range - very reasonable) also enrolls us into a program called "Tank Guard" which is like an insurance on your tank. With the replacement of our tank, this program covers up to $2,000 on the cost! It was truly the silver lining to an almost disastrous situation! Throughout this ordeal, I cannot speak highly enough on how considerate, accommodating, and supportive Star has been to us. Without their hard work to put us at ease, I don't think we would have even gone on or enjoyed our vacation but, because of the stellar team at Star, we enjoyed our trip and came home to good news about our oil tank replacement. Couldn't have picked a better oil supplier!! We are very, very happy customers!! Service tech showed up an hour late to the 4 hour appointment window. Tech was completely unapologetic for his tardiness. When I called to ask to reschedule service the woman on the phone was unwilling to move the appointment and again, unapologetic. Horrible customer service, will be looking elsewhere for future service needs. read more

I have been with Star for several years now and have nothing but wonderful experiences. From my initial phone call with the owner Bob and the follow up calls I've had with him since about my pricing, he's fair and cares deeply about his customers. Most recently I was faced with a no heat situation and leaking air handler in my attic... ugh! I have an extended home warranty for this reason but Star is not an approved vendor (they will be soon thankfully) and my home warranty company sent Dempsey Oil here to fix my problem. While this isn't a review of Dempsey let's just say they really made me grateful that I chose Star. From conversations with Michelle and other office stage, Shon and Bob, I have been able to navigate this mess of a situation and get things fixed. My favorite part of working with this company is Andrew (aka AJ) - he's professional, patient, kind and thorough. I would strongly recommend that once you have someone working in your home that you request the same technician throughout the process since it helps to have them not have to figure everything out each time, which is just a waste of time. I have been a loyal customer of Star Petroleum since the initially installed my A/C system 10+ years ago. However, something has really gone awry their this year, they are completely unresponsive despite repeated contact attempts. They found a small leak in my attic unit last spring during a routine preseason inspection. Scott laid out my option and gave me an estimate for each of those options. I did not have the budget for replacing the unit at that time, so I told him we would try and limp through the rest of the season and then address it in the spring. He was fine and we left it at that. I called Star in mid-April looking to speak to someone to try to arrange for the replacement of my attic unit. I left a message and waited a 2 weeks with no response. I called again the beginning of May and left a message again. No return call. I called two days later and the operator was able to track down Sean the service manager who told me he would get together with Scott and call me back by Friday of that week. I am still waiting for the return call. Frustrated, I called the office again the week of the 18th of May. No return call. See a pattern? I called again this past Wednesday 5/25 and left a message for three people in the office and am still waiting on Friday for a call back. At this point I am looking for an alternative. This is p*ss poor customer service and certainly gives the impression that they don't give a rat's a** about my business. read more

My fathers company has been using them for years, when I bought my house I looked around for the cheapest price--they not only beat most but the quality of service is AMAZING. From the ladies in the office to the people who service the equipment the customer service is out of this world. I have not one complaint and I have been using them for 3 yrs now! I was in a bind and needed oil today so I called Star. My Foster Mother worked for them years ago so I thought why not I had been turned down by my current oil company so I called. I talked with the ladies in reception and then to Scott. He drove by my house to check out the driveway and then 20 mins later I got a call back saying they would take on the job. I came home an hour later and was pleased to find I had been refilled by Star! My home was 22 yrs with the same central air unit so I thought before it goes I'll replace it got 4 est. and I grew up with Bob so I got an estimate from Star.. As much as I like keeping business between friend sometimes it dosn't work out..This was one of them... Replaced the unit In May and 1 yr to date the unit stopped on the hottest day ever.. After two visits of trial and error and replacing thermostat . They got it up and running and said next year before it gets hot we will replace the ground wire. To my shock I received a bill One year after install but that wasnt the worst I contacted them to replace wire and they are booked to june and no longer go up in attic for repairs.. So really if you need a/c repairs not the company you want or If new install and you are looking for unit for longer than a year not the company to go to.. And do your homework gut tells you go with another company do it.. Really sad no more customer service with these companies...My first unit in 22 years was serviced once with Davco and got a small service bill and unit was still good...Star serviced within the first year and was billed...BEWARE read more

It is Wed., Jan. 3rd and my outside thermometer is registering 4 degrees outside. I forgot to call the oil company for a delivery. My oil tank gauge is hovering just above empty. I called around for several hours to all the local companies leaving messages and asking for deliveries. No one was able to deliver till next week. The companies I left messages at never called me back. I finally came upon Starr and spoke to a very nice woman who asked me to hold and a second later I was speaking with Bob. He said we can help you out, it's going to be too cold to be without oil. He said he would try and get a truck over by late afternoon and if not first thing in the morning. He then said, "if I can't get a delivery out to you today I will have a service truck come by and drop in 10 gallons or so to tide you over till tomorrow. It's going to be too cold tonight to be without oil." They actually did a full delivery this afternoon and then I received a call from Bob to make sure I had gotten the delivery. I will be switching over from my old company to Starr Petroleum, a company that cares about people and I will also be telling and asking all my friends about this amazing and caring company and hoping that they will support Starr Petroleum as well. We need to support local companies that care about their customers. By the way the cost per gallon was even less than my regular company so they are very competitive in pricing. Thank you Bob for the A+ service. They are predicting it to be 6 below zero tonight but my family and I will be nice and toasty in our home thanks to Bob and Starr Petroleum. great company. i had a small issue with my a/c system. i could not get anyone to take a look at it or call me back about (to small of a job??). as soon as a called star, i talked to chris (service manager), he was very quick to set up a appointment. chris personally came to my house, gave me an estimate & started working on my system. highly recommend these guys for a/c, oil furnaces & hot water heaters. no job to small, no crazy service fees just to look. read more
