Ok they fixed my issue and they did a phenomenal job in a really really fast time so I have zero complaints in their service. So you may be wondering why one star well, I left the one star because I have never been in a place of business, where all the employees were high off of cocaine. I've been around the block, and I know what that was from the front counter to the mechanics high AF! Eyes completely dilated, sweating, dripping, nose, jaw moving like they were chewing gum! Nothing nothing I don't understand how the owner of the place or the manager of the place allows this do you wanna do drugs? Knock yourself out this is America do what you want but when you're at work and people depend on the quality of work you do and safety, yeah that's a concern. I'm really surprised that no one has mentioned this before because when my man greeted me, there was absolutely no doubt he was hanging tough with Scarface. And if the owner of this place wants to reach out to me, shoot me a message respond to this because it wouldn't surprise me if the DEA come knocking on the door to shut your place of business down. And I'm Puerto Rican and I am embarrassed that these are my own people doing this crap I'm not trying to be funny, nor sarcastic. They worked to find a good option for me. For details that are not important, I just wasn't satisfied with the way the tires worked on my car. Terrible people it felt like highway robbery I got a flat tire just down the road and I walked in it's like the guy saw me in need so he full on took advantage of me sold me a used wobbly tire for $60 that by the way was the wrong size and when I confronted him about it he just told me that it was good enough to get me off the street so I drove my car home which was about 40 miles the next day I went to my local tire guy who knew me and got the right size tire put on only to find out that by driving the car with the wrong tire on I actually messed up my alignment that cost me another $100 to get fixed so do yourself a big favor and Don't waist your time and money go somewhere else read more

Took a truck here with big wheels that no other tire place in meriden could repair. Had a nail in the tire.... well, more like a spike. they were wonderful in getting me in when I arrived, I had called prior to let them know I was coming. Didn't have to wait long, and while I was waiting had a few sales pitches thrown at me. The prices were ok, but I liked the fact that I could get fast service. It was a Friday afternoon. Didn't like the sales pitch after I said I didn't need anything else, and even after I said the car wasn't mine and I wouldn't be buying new tires for it, I still had a sales pitch for new tires. Beware Beware Beware! I should have run when I walked in as an old pudgy blond woman,who I found to be an owner, was berating an employee. Bug I figured I'm here so I'll get what I came for. After spending $2400 on wheels and tires,which was $250 over the quoted price,I left. I made it about 5 miles when I heard a knocking noise from the front, and the steering felt strange. I pulled over and found my right front wheel loose! I tightened it up and returned to the shop. When I was there at first they were nice, although dishonest, but that changed! I told them my story and they told my that is why they have you return in 30 miles. My wheel would have fallen off in another 5! And I looked closely at the wheels they were scratched from improper installation? When I brought this to the attention of the owner she became so rude! I was told I didn't take care of the wheels properly. And nothing was done about the loose wheel. Save yourself from being ripped off and go somewhere else,PLEASE!!!!! read more

First, I am really skeptical when it come to car repair shops. However, Star Tire is the exception. You would be hard pressed to find a better place or people to work on your cars. I have been coming to Star Tire for a while now and absolutely love Paige and Clay. Honestly, It feel more like visiting friends rather than getting my car repaired. The Prices are very reasonable and they have a great team of mechanics. Most importantly to me at least, is that you are not going to find more honest people than Clay and Paige who truly care about their customers. I've been going to Star Tire for years and Andy & Paige have always treated me right. They've saved me $$$$ as the dealers would charge me double for a comparable tire. I always go to the dealer for everything, except when it comes to tires/wheels for the major savings. UPDATE: By freaky chance my wife blew out her tire the same night I wrote this review by hitting a big pothole. I went in the next morning (now 3 days after purchase) expecting to pay fully for a tire. However Nilda went the extra mile to call the distributor just to see what they can do, if anything. I bought a set of wheels and tires for my 2021 Corolla after I took the car to the highway I noticed that is was a vibration I took the car back to them and they told me that it was unbalanced then I went back with the same problem and Tim told me that I can be the tires they swap my tires and still have the vibration i went back and they told me that I had to buy another rim because 1 of them was damaged what a nice way they have to do business. Knocked them down a star because they scheduled me for an 8:30 appointment, but when I got there they couldn't fit me in so they had me come back. Avoid like the plague! 2 bad experiences here. I've learned my lesson!!! Last week went in for just an alignment. They said they could not get the bolts off and needed inner tire rods for a grand total of $350 and I could wait a couple hours. They also burned a fresh hole into my CV boot and didn't mention it to me. So oil was leaking everywhere. I instead bring it to an honest mechanic and he had the bolts off in 10 min. I lost $50 since they charged me a setup fee (even though they never did an alignment. Will not be back ever again. In a word, terrible. I am pretty sure their prices are decent and competitive, but their service is awful. They seem to be focused on trying to sell 24 inch spinners (which generally cost a lot more than the crappo cars they are stuck on) and care very little about anyone spending a measly $1200 as I did on tires and wheels for my Miata. The general narrative of my dealings with them went like this: Bought tires and wheels and had them mounted, balanced and aligned. They were VERY attentive until they actually had my money. As soon as I took the car on the highway it started shaking like crazy. two more visits to "fix" the balance did little to help, but it seems that in the process they over tightened the nuts making them impossible to remove when I took the car elsewhere to have the snow tires put on. The shop that put of the snow tires had to cut off three of the bolts with a blow torch, which trashed the finish on the wheel and cost me quite a bit. When I contacted Star they denied any responsibility, insisting that I or someone else must have over tightened the nuts, despite the fact that I never work on my own car. While I would have liked them to cover my costs from their error, I asked if they would at least replace the wheel that had been so badly marred, but they said no way. I considered taking them to court but figured it really wasn't worth the time and effort. If I spare on person the hassle of dealing with them, this post is worth my time. There are plenty of other places you can get good deals on tires and wheels. read more

STOPPPPPPP!!!!!!! Don't not go here. When I tell you this was the worst experience I have ever had... THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD!!!!!! First, I brought my car to them because I was in need of their finance program. This is where they get everyone. I was approved for $2230, and my repairs came up to $1177. This was for a starter, battery, and alternator. I was able to get a battery due to my previous warranty for another location, so that knocked it down to $970. Again, I was in need so I agreed to the price. When I picked up the vehicle the light for the tire pressure sensor was on. I told them, and one of the techs fixed it. While that was taking place the vehicle started to leak engine coolant. The main mechanic, Angel (the only honest one), came to fix it. Long story short, my car still isn't working, and they don't do engine (which is now the problem). When I started to tell them about the new problem the mechanic started to list all the things that they fixed.... STARTER AND BATTERY.... So I asked the manager (Marcus) why was I being charged for the alternator if they never installed it. He stated " this was a "mistake" and that he forgot to take it off." Mind you, I already came earlier to complete the paperwork which stated I was paying for the starter and alternator." I was so pissed, because what if my car was acting right when I left?????? Would they have refunded the $500 difference? YES $500 DIFFERENCE!!!!! No one noticed that this was being charged?????? When asked to speak to the owner, I was told she not available, and would return calls due to being out of town during the winter months. I wonder if she knows how her business is being represented when she was out of town. I recommend that anyone that is financing with them double check what they were charged for. Also, anyone getting any parts repair be sure to ask to see where the new one is located in the vehicle, and where the old one is discarded. It really sucks that you can't bring your vehicle somewhere to get fixed, and not have to worry about being con. I can't wait to pay off the repairs so I can't cut ties with this business. read more

Terrible experience and would not recommend to others, I was recommended to use start tire being told "they have extensive years of experience with oem and aftermarket wheels and that they can handle anything" at first the Price quote and tire suggestion for my wheels including mounting, balance and front alignment came up to 1046$ dollars not including tax I did some research and low profile tires are expensive, I had no problem and agreed with the price, Andy made this quote for me over the phone, the day that Iplaced my order his wife was at the store , she went over my original quote and suggested a different rear tire size from what I originally was quoted for, I did reply if that's what you think is best than go ahead and order them, the tires were paid in full at checkout before my vehicle was dropped off the next day for the installation and alignment, the next day I received a phone call after dropping my vehicle off that morning that they can not and would not align my car because is too low and they did not want to take a chance to damage the front end of my car for how low it sits, Fair enough understandable situation, the tires were installed already the car was ready to be picked up at my convenience that afternoon I made the arrangement and asked for time off from work that afternoon to pick up my vehicle From the beginning I had my trust on this store and trusted they would know what they're doing, when I picked my vehicle I went over and fast look at them but did not bother to fully check once again I thought they knew what they were doing and knowing my employer trust them with their customers cars why shouldn't I trust them?, I work at a shop only 1 mile away from Star Tire, at the end of the day I stayed to wash my car and caught no only flaws but also damage, I noticed the tires on the rear were small and did not look good at all I had a huge gap in between the wheel well and the wheel it self (my car is lowered on an aftermarket coilovers/suspension) I thought maybe I can adjust the suspension and get away with it, I kept washing my car and looked at the edges of my front wheel and noticed he paint was chipped damaged from mounting the new tires, I checked all the Rims and every single one has damage to the paint and two had scrapes. At this point I'm trying to find and explanation for what I just found all over my wheels wrong set of tires for the rear wheels and damage on all 4 rims,it was Friday I decided to call the store but it was past 5:30 no one answered, until the next morning when I called again to get some answer and to try to solve this issue which bother me and made me wonder if it was even worth the investment I made two days before, not including and it's unrelated while my car was warming up the engine seized that same afternoon I picked it up, Andy ' wife Paige was in the store and he was not, I explained my issues with all the work performed and the damage found, the answers I got were the following 1. the damage was there and my employees did not damage your wheels, "I personally checked the wheels before any work was performed" 2. The tires are already used I cannot refund or exchange them there's nothing I can do 3. It's Saturday and you will have to come Monday and talk to Andy about this we can't do anything about this 1000$ dollars isn't my weekly paycheck and took me a while to save up to be able to afford them, Upset, angry and disappointed about the whole situation I felt I couldn't do anything about it, she made her point telling me she would not do anything to fix the situation I'm not the customer that goes into a store and demands yells and insults trying to get stuff for free and a refund all I wanted was an exchange for the wrong size of tires for the rear the paint chipping had a solution touch up paint or repaint them I didn't ask for a repair reimbursement or to get them fix all I ask was to exchange the rear tires but no it couldn't be possible especially how they handle a customer Two months after my vehicle got repaired the wheels got resprayed and I was able to move it out from the shop as I drive it off the lot I heard a loud noise coming from the front driver side wheel something was left inside the wheel my best guess the balancing weights they use for the Rims, I returned to the store 7/16/14 at 1:45pm and asked Paige the Owner to please have someone remove whatever was inside the wheel we exchanged words I did not demand the exchange I originally made two months ago at that point I wanted that loud popping noise gone and to please but please be really care full with the Rim, it was in mint shape I didn't even put more than 3 miles on it, I picked it up 2 hours later at first sight I see touch up paint on my wheel, chipped the paint again, it totally ruined a well perfect paired rim by a store who clearly don't care about customer satisfaction dissapointed and upset with they're service I can not and would not recomen read more

I've been a customer for over 30 years and put a set of rims on layaway...unfortunately i had a series of events that kept me from getting the rims i wanted...my transmission went fixed it then someone hit me and the car was totaled so i eventually purchased another vehicle i went back to see if i could use the $400.00 towards something else they said fine. I put the money towards a set of tires...but since i didn't get rims with the tires when i went to pick up the tires all of a sudden there was a problem so now they tell me about restocking fees which left me with only $100.00 for a business to treat a 30 year customer who has bought rims and tires from only star tires plus wheels over a 30 year period Is this the way you treat pretty much a life long customer. They have 2 stores with over a million dollars worth of rims and tires in stock commercials and repair shop and to use a technicallity to keep $300.00 isn't good business. I guess if you're not spending $10 k or better on rims and tires life long customer means nothing to them .also after telling me how sorry they were even though not genuine ...i let them know i was dissatisfied and was writing a review they got upset and told me to leave their store because it was not a favorable review so take that for what it's worth read more

I don't normally write reviews online. This is the first for me but my experience with Star Tire in West Haven was so bad, felt compelled to write something. If I can save just one person the aggravation I encountered, than the time invested in drafting this review was worthwhile. I would strongly advise you take your car elsewhere. There are many reputable tire & repair centers that are willing to stand behind their products and services. In my experience, Star Tire of West Haven was not. I am not going to bother with all the gory details but here a couple of points that highlight my experience: 1) it took them 5 hours to mount and balance 4 tires. (That's not four hours of waiting and an hour to do the job. It actually took them five hours to replace four tires.) 2) they retuned my vehicle with two leaking tire TPMS sensors. The tires were flat, under 15PSI, before I got to the interstate, which is a couple of miles from their facility. 3) when I returned to their facility the owner suggested that the leaking sensors were my responsibility... my experience went downhill from there. Use this review however you would like. I would just say buyer beware. Pay attention when you sign the labor receipt! read more

The owner is a nasty scammer that grossly overcharges. I recommend staying away. There is better, cheaper service available out there. We were quoted initially about $17 to fix a flat, quote that ballooned to a little less than $40 in the middle of the procedure. Seemingly, they did not realize that a tire balancing would be necessary when re-mounting the tire, after fixing the flat? Of course they did know. They are just shady. In addition to being suspicious, their business practices are also overpriced. Town Fair Tire's pricing for the same procedures is about $5. When threatening them with leaving a negative review online, warning unsuspecting customers never to use their shady and overpriced services, the owner actually orders me banned out of his shop, permanently. I was in star tire a week earlier from today. Talking with the kid by the name of Clayton. It seems like the first time I came in, the questions I were asking was way too much! Needed special offsets for rims, and he suggested I bring the rim. I brought it in a week later, to wait more than 25 minutes because he was taking care of another customer, understandable! When my turn came up to talk with him he passed me over and went to another customer, you know why because they are used to easy sales and Andy never would've done that. That's the problem today with customer service, it sucks at certain places, especially star tire. They were not professional at all. I will never recommend this place to any of my import friends. I will spend my money elsewhere, unfortunately our deals as customers become far more better online! And me and my car club and all the other car clubs I know will never visit you again. read more

My wife sideswiped a curb in bad weather. We brought our car to 2 shops (one in Clinton and one in Guilford) to see what damage there was. The one in Clinton said there was suspension damage and it needed a new wheel and tire and some body work. They suggested we "put it through insurance" with a bill of about $2,450. We then brought it to a place in Guilford and their estimate (absent the body work- which you could not see anyway) was $600. I thought "what a savings". We however decided (on a friend's recommendation) to bring it to Star Tire. Page had her master mechanic look at the car. They were able to straighten the dent in the wheel and did an alignment on the car FOR JUST $99.00 and the car rides fine! Now I told them the same info as the other two places. Auto repair facilities are either hit or miss. This one was dead on! What a fantastic business. I called 4 different places asking if I could bring my car in to be looked at and they said maybe some time next week. When you are having emergency problems with your vehicle you can't wait till next week! When I called Star Plus Tires they said to bring it right in. I was afraid my problem with my vehicle was going to cost me a few hundred dollars. I was in shock and huge gratitude when they said my problem was not serious and they weren't going to charge me. This morning I popped a tire on the bad roads here in North Haven when I pulled into work, I asked a co worker and got a recommendation to bring the car to star tires ( since I also needed an alignment. And new tires anyway ) Andy picked up I told him my situation and asked if I could have the car towed down via AAA. He said no problem we will have the car all set before lunch time. He gave me the prices ( exacts not estimates ) no haggle no up pricing straight to the point, and indeed I got the call and my car was ready by lunch time. I noted also after he was done... that earlier in the week I heard a clunk noise when I hit bumps and if he could take a look at it, he test drove it and I got a call back saying the control arm was a tad loose he tightened it free of charge. I didn't have any big work done here yet, but with the service I just received.. I will definitely be bringing my car back. read more
