This morning I popped a tire on the bad roads here in North Haven when I pulled into work, I asked a co worker and got a recommendation to bring the car to star tires ( since I also needed an alignment. And new tires anyway ) Andy picked up I told him my situation and asked if I could have the car towed down via AAA. He said no problem we will have the car all set before lunch time. He gave me the prices ( exacts not estimates ) no haggle no up pricing straight to the point, and indeed I got the call and my car was ready by lunch time. I noted also after he was done... that earlier in the week I heard a clunk noise when I hit bumps and if he could take a look at it, he test drove it and I got a call back saying the control arm was a tad loose he tightened it free of charge. I recently purchased 4 new rims from Tires Plus Wheels and within 4to5 months my rims were already peeling and staining very badly as if I got a bad batch.they told me a false making of the rims. My rims look horrible and I was never even told proper maintenance procedures. I went back 6 months later to see if I can purchase a better set and get a discount since I recently just spent a lot of money with them for nothing.They only gave me a measly $100 off, and even with that I don't know what the original price was of the rims to know if I was even getting a good discount. I ended up putting a deposit down for a new set BUT I did I tell them that I am still going to look around for a cheaper set of rims and they just blabbed off that I can't get my deposit back. So my deposit went down the drain along with the old rims I bought. Didn't buy the new rims I was going to because in reality I felt like I was being cheated once again.ladies my careful complete rip off. read more

this has to be the worst place for service. they are unorganized they have your car for days. they do not do a complete job on your car and ask upu to come back. they lose parts that belong to your car . customer service is awful the mechanics dont have a clue how to work on certain things . be careful with alignments because they will rush it and say your car is good when it is not . would not recommend coming to this place at all. read more

I have had 2 bad experiences with these folks and I won't return. I own a 2008 Subaru Outback and I had purchased tires from the previous company (Tires Plus Wheels) which literally wore after approx 25k miles(Firestone Precision), I brought the vehicle to Star and Andy the owner assured me he would take care of the issue (I was first told by his staff they couldn't help me). Andy worked a "Deal" on 4 Goodyear tires for a total cost of $630.23 ! Hardly a deal when I could find them cheaper elsewhere. I took his offer and walked out feeling a bit uneasy (I should have said raped) about it. Well here I am at 82K and my dealer says my tires are shot. HUH that's 12k on these Goodyear Assurance tires. If there is something wrong with my vehicle wouldn't you expect a tire shop to inform you of an issue that would cause premature wear? I'm not sure now if I even received new tires from them? My first set of tires went 50K. There has to be something causing these to wear so fast. I would expect a tire shop to inform me of any mechanical issues that would be causing this type of premature wear. I do want to say that Andy was very pleasant and appeared to be sincere in wanting to help me. I just don't feel like I got anywhere. Here I am out $1,345.00 after 2 sets of tires and my car has only 32k on it since I replaced my original factory tires. read more

I brought 2 tires to be mounted. Their machine destroyed one of the tires. They took NO responsibility and said I brought it in that way. I agreed to purchase a used tire from them to match the one they destroyed. They attempted to sell me 3 different tires, NONE of which were close to what I could use. The salesman's attitude was dismissive. At this point I was there for 3 hours. They put a random tire on my rim, without checking with me, put it in my truck and ignored me for another 30 minutes. This tire was 3 inches shorter than the original and dry rotted. Clearly I was not going to get satisfactory or ANY type of service, I cut my losses and left. I will NEVER use this company again and will share my terrible experience. read more

So I recently brought my car in to put new tires on some wheels I already own. The wheels are a lot bigger than my car can handle so I asked if they can roll and tuck my fenders. If you don't know what that is, it's when you use a machine to push the fender out so that the car can fit a bigger wheel without scraping. Come to find out the guy who said they can do this was a manager. Long story short they rolled my finders without heating the paint up causing it to chip and the guy who did it tried to cover it up with black marker. I went to that place three times that day to complain about their work. The manager said it would take a couple hours to do and it ended up being all day. He didn't check the work of his employee not once if he did he would've noticed the terrible job that was done. I spent a little over $800 dollars for all this and they didn't even try to give me a discount on anything for my experience. Honestly, I will never go back to this place for work on my car again. read more
