I am was trying to kick my addiction to YELP when I went to this place after several trips to another business in the same strip mall. My fiance wanted to know what Starbread....BIG MISTAKE if you are on a diet!!! We got the Spanish bread (they were cheap so cheap we bought cheese and olive bread also). It was hot out of oven at 7pm (the cashier asked if we wanted to wait a minute or two for the fresh ones since they would be done cooking!!) Once we smelled their goodness it took all and I mean ALL our will power to make it home before devouring the lady finger shaped goodies. They glistened with honey or some other sticky delicious goodness and before I knew it, I had eaten four! They were so fluffy so soft so golden and shiny and GOOD - what the hell is this bread "senorita" I think they call it....no my friends it is the downfall of my waistline!! I can never go near this place again because the sweet, sweet taste of the senorita bread calls to me and I must listen....so be warned do not go here if you have little or no self control when it comes to food!! read more

I love me some Senorita bread from this place! Seriously, it comes in such a good price you really can't pass it up. Before I left home to come back to Stockton, I had to buy some. Spanish bread (senioritas) and I go way back even BEFORE the days of Banana Q! They used to have a hole in the wall on the corner of York and Solano, and the only items they sold were donuts, coffee and "spanish bread". It was a Sunday tradition to go there after church and get a $10 box! I give them much props for making this bread which originated and more than likely exclusive to Vallejo. However this last weekend I was introduced to one of the most amazing little bites of delight... It was soft like Pillsbury Poppin Fresh croissants. The bottom was brushed with a whisper of caramel similar to a sticky bun that was sweet, salty and buttery all at once. I dont use the word "Amazing" lightly, but it was just that... We just visited Cali for a week, when my dear cousin Glen brought over two beautiful boxes of pastries from Starbread on our last day-one of Senoritas and the other mamon. What a lovely send off! It was the first time I've had Senoritas, and must say that these were the best pastries EVAH!!! Soft, flaky and just outta the oven. Buttery, sweet and slightly gooey, the perfect combo! Some of the Mamon were filled with cream cheese and others were stuffed with pork. I am literally salivating here! I'm totally fiending all of these right now!!! Argh!! If I could find even something similar in Chicago I'd be racing there. Seniorita bread is the main specialty here. During many events and parties, seniorita bread is almost always present. It's a buttery roll, with sugar and if you're lucky enough, an extra touch of caramel on the bottom. The price is equivalent to 40 cents per bread but this simple roll of goodness is definitely worth it. It's difficult to eat just one, as many of my friends have tried. A small bakery that specializes in its SENORITA BREAD...which is perfectly sweet and not dry. When my sister's boyfriend first tried them, he called them "sweet fingers" and describes them as "finger licking goods." Haha! Best when freshly baked, but still good the same day at room temperature. Okay the next day when heated in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds. Eat within four days or they become stale. I had never even heard of senorita bread, but, as I was eating my way through Vallejo this summer, I wanted to see what the fuss was about. Starbread sells very little else outside of senoritas so let's get right to these little things. Essentially they are donuts masquerading as dinner rolls. They are ridiculously cheap (40 cents each) and can easily be a dieter's worst enemy. Each time I visited Starbread, the senoritas were given to me warm--only adding to their easy-eating form. Without the ability to taste, you could see them sitting on a Thanksgiving dinner table, but they are far too sweet for that. Commendably they lack the icing that can push a donut over the top, but the senoritas do have a light, sugary topping that is not obvious to the eye. For me they take the best elements of a raised donut leave it at that. A special treat to offer the uninitiated. read more

If you like other types of Filipino food perhaps some of the other bread they sell are good but for all other cultures the señorita bread that they sell is the holy Grail. I have not found one person that did not like it and I have a list of people who are pissed there's not a star bread bakery in their city, so you guys should really be expanding. I'm talking about the people in the kitchen.
