I'm not sure why the rating is so low. Starbrite is the only dry cleaner in this area that will do same day dry cleaning. I dropped it off at noon and it was done before closing. They have saved the day on multiple occasions. The prices are comparable to other local dry cleaners but their service is amazing. I rarely leave reviews, but my recent visit to this cleaners left me genuinely disappointed. The staff is consistently unfriendly--curt, dismissive, and far from welcoming. It's uncomfortable dealing with them, and basic customer service seems like an afterthought. The tipping point for me was a pair of slacks I had forgotten to pick up. They gave me a courtesy call, which I appreciated--until I arrived and was told I owed a $6 late fee. I've used dry cleaners for years and have never heard of such a fee. When I politely asked what the charge was for, the employee at the counter flatly said the owner "is inconvenienced by items being left behind." No warning, no signage, no mention of this policy until payment. If the owner finds holding cleaned garments for paying customers so burdensome, maybe they're in the wrong business. My wool jacket had shrunken after their dry cleaning. Its sleeves became shorter about 2 inches than before I brought it there. I requested some compensation for it. They said dry cleaning never made clothes shrunken and rejected to pay it. Instead, they proposed to pay me back its dry cleaning fee only. I declined to receive it and brought back my shrunken jacket to home. I visited 4 times this shop and spent 6 weeks since this issue occurred. read more

Convenient and quick. I've never had any issues when taking items here for dry cleaning. I've mainly taken suits here, but have also taken large comforters here to be laundered. The people I've encountered upon drop-off and pickup have been courteous so no issues there. Only reason I gave 4 stars was the prices are higher than most places. But. It's RPV, so I understand the prices are going to be higher up on the hill. When in a pinch, I'll continue to go here for my dry cleaning needs. read more

I have been going to this cleaners for about a year now, very convenient and close to home. Never had any issues, everything is ready when they say it will be, the place is clean and organized. It is a pretty simple transaction. I am not sure about the other reviewers complaining that staff is "not friendly." It is laundry folks. I find the staff friendly enough. There is a cleaners across the street from Starbrite, but I prefer this location because well, the location! They do fair job of dry cleaning IMO but the thing that keeps me coming back is the 25 percent off of all cleanings on Sunday! That alone makes a 3 star place 4 stars! I sort of jump around a lot as far as dry cleaners goes. Basically, I go where the 99 cent offer is for laundering shirts. Starbrite was the last place to offer 98 cents for incoming shirt orders on Thursday & Friday, and I got used to the convienence. They are located in the main Peninsula Center, a couple of doors down from Mayer's Bakery, and they had the long standing shirt special. They recently raised the price to $1.12 for shirts incoming on Thursday & Friday, and from what I can tell, it's still a bargain (why are shirts so expensive to laundry? Do the dry cleaners not want to wash shirts either? If so, why continue in the business? I digress.) I don't know what the regular price is if you bring in shirts any other day of the week, but I do know that if you bring in your dry cleaning on Sunday, it's 25% off. They are very friendly, and I've had rush orders with no problem. The facility is clean and modern, and not dry cleaner stinky at all. I don't know if they do the work on site, or send it out. I believe alterations are available as well, and they do clean larger sized items, such as comforters & sleeping bags. So, remember, shirts go in on Thursday or Friday at $1.12 each, and then you can go back on Sunday and drop off your dry cleaning for 25% off. Or, you can probably trudge down the hill and find it all cheaper. It's the convienence factor - you choose. read more

I just wanted to say I'm completely happy with the service that was provided here! I had some nursing scrub tops that were starting to look yellow (originally white) and I took them in and they were able to make them white again (although other dry cleaning places told me they couldn't clean them because my scrubs would bleed) I'm so thankful I came across this shop! Do not use this dry cleaner for alterations! I took 4 scrub tops in and asked that they be hemmed an inch and a half. I was charged $74.00. When I received the tops they were all to short. I re-ordered the tops and took the new ones with me when I went back to the cleaners so I could show that they had not been hemmed as I had asked. Manager Moe told me he would speak to the seamster and I could follow up in a few days. When I followed up he told me the seamstress didn't have the pieces they cut off and he didn't know what I wanted him to do. I told him I would like the $74.00 back that I spent for the alterations. He said that he could not do that. So I am out the $80.00 I paid for the tops because I can not wear them they are to short and the $74.00 I paid to have the alterations done and I still have to pay to have the 2nd set of tops hemmed that I had to purchase because this cleaners ruined the first set. I have not had any issues with the quality of dry cleaning services but on principle I will not return to this cleaners for any service and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

unfortunately there is no choice of a negative star rating, which would even be less than what this jip joint deserves. i had two suits come back pressed only in the front, the backs totally creased. the stitching around some of the button holes had unraveled as well. i don't believe the suits were cleaned. just pressed on the front of the jacket. this had to be sent back along with the stains that had been marked that they failed to remove. i asked the sourpuss woman at that time who the owner was, and she claimed that she was, yet refused to give her last name, only the name "suzy". she also insisted the process was organic, yet was unwilling to explain why the word wasn't used in their sign if her claims were true. when the order came back again, you could see new damage from the cleaning fluid they used to attempt to remove the stains. the purported owner was vicious, would not remedy the damage in any way, and when i let her know that i did not feel right paying after she had ruined a $500 suit, she got even nastier, and started physically attacking me, and yanking at the suits. i predict this phony operation will fail shortly what with their non-existent people skills, nary a smile or greeting upon coming in, let alone their scam operation which i believe went beyond ineptness. read more
