Do yourself a favor and avoid the drive-thru. I was staying at a hotel right by here and was excited to learn there was a Starbucks so near by and with a drive thru. I thought I could quickly stop by and grab some coffee and breakfast in the morning. I sure was wrong. This Starbucks is in a little area with other shops so you have to navigate through parking lots to get to it. The problem is, that there was really two ways to enter the drive thru. And idiots try to enter it both ways. Just when you think you're about to go in, cars from the other side enter. All of this causes traffic to build up and not let other cars pass by. And that's just to enter the line. The entire drive thru was packed and didn't move for five minutes. I cut my losses and looped around to just park and walk inside. Once inside my drinks and food came out pretty quickly. Not that bad of a Starbucks but not being able to simply use the drive thru is a big negative. read more

If you think Starbucks is evil, don't bother reading. I love my local shops, but SBX is my default coffee source and I make no apologies for that. The Loehmann's Plaza location of Starbucks is my favorite in the city. It's got generous parking and a drive-through, and is located next to a Panera for morning one-stop breakfast if you don't want the muffins or ciabatta sammies that SBX sells. It is a deep store physically, so if you want to sit and write/think/compute/drink away from the bright sunlight, there are four small table across from the counter in the back of the store. If you aren't 10% vampire and don't mind the sun, the front of the store is chockablock with tables and an elevated seating bar right at the front window for convenient people-watching. If you like your caffeine al fresco, there are multiple tables outside as well. It also has an extremely diverse clientele, with scads of Emory faculty and students, gobs of CDC employees, and area locals. For the multi-culti devotee, there is also a strong presence from the Ethiopian community that resides along the Briarcliff/Clairmont axis. The best part of the location, though, is its staff. From the district manager down to the newest barista, they work very hard to create a welcoming, warm environment. I appreciate their professionalism and like them personally. I could buy coffee cheaper elsewhere, but I come both for the coffee and the people. read more

A Starbucks is a Starbucks is a Starbucks, right?! Yeah, pretty much. The main differences are how friendly the baristas are and how much seating is available. My friend and I met up here one chilly Monday afternoon, and all tables were occupied with people who were studying or working. There were a few open seats, as well as bar stools available, but we wanted to sit at our own table for a private conversation. I'm not a fan of bar stools, so we decided to sit outside instead. I got one of my Starbucks favorites - a tall, Iced Caramel Macchiato. As usual, it was delicious, but probably not the best choice since it was chilly enough outside. After about 15 minutes, a few people had left and we were able to get a table for two inside. Whew! Such a relief because we were starting to freeze. Overall, this Starbucks gets 4 stars - for their friendly baristas who make your drinks quickly, consistently good drinks, and of course - free Wi-Fi! Free Wi-Fi is ALWAYS a plus for me! What can I tell you about this location that is different from any other Starbucks? 1. Location: located right at the intersection of North Druid Hills and Briarcliff, this location is perfect! Plenty of business around here and close proximity to I-85 entrance. 2. Food: I will not comment on microwaved sandwiches prepared in-house, BUT right next door is Panera..well, pretty much attached. Get some coffee, grab a sandwich next door....makes sense to me. 3. Outdoor seating - a lot of it! Granted you get a "nice" view of the parking lot and N. Druid Hills, but it isn't so bad sipping on a hot coffee and reading the newspaper while catching a nice breeze of fresh air. 4. Customer service is excellent and the place always feels clean. 5. They have a drive-in....but don't be lazy...get out of the car! 6. PLENTY of parking - located in Loehmann's Plaza. Possible cons: 1. There is plenty of seating, but it does get crowded here at lunchtime..blame it on the good location and proximity to Panera. 2. I drive through this location once or twice a week to grab coffee for myself and my co-workers. The staff is well-meaning and kind but very slow compared to other stores. Also, there seems to be errors in my order for every trip, but I usually let it slide. This AM I ordered three drinks and a pastry (which they were out of, but I subbed something else, no biggie). I drive off, go to sip my drink and the top wasn't on... HOT coffee all the way down my stomach and leg...and all over my car. OUCH! OK, re-grouped, I go to sip my drink again to decrease the volume, and I immediately realize this isn't what I ordered. I ordered a delicious and sickly sweet "holiday drink" for fun, I ended up with what definitely tastes like a grande Americano, (espresso and water), an EXTREMELY BITTER americano at that. I also notice that my cup is inside of another cup, and there is no drink label on the outside of the cup. I wonder if this caused the drink mix-up, so once at work, I try to pry the inner cup out to see if there is a drink label, so I can at least see what type of coffee I ended up with. Much to my dismay, when I finally was able to pull the inner cup out, I found a dark sludge of coffee in the outer cup that did not resemble my current drink at all, and it hadn't gotten there from the spill. My theory is that the staff were mixing drinks and maybe mine got really hot, so they popped my mystery coffee in a cup into a USED COFFEE CUP by accident...hopefully? I know it was probably never touched by another customer, and it was probably just used for mixing, but that was the final nail. I'm officially grossed out and over trying to tolerate the hassle that this store always is and continues to be. I will get coffee somewhere else from now on. read more

This is a very nice Starbucks - much of it due to its proximity to my home and the fact that it's roomy inside and out (big patio) and located next to a Panera too. So, last weekend, my boyfriend and I stopped in there pretty early to get a coffee and entertain ourselves with his iPad for a bit. I agree with other Yelpers that the baristas were very friendly, and accommodating (especially when he changed his order mid-stream), and our drinks and lemon iced pound cake were ready in no time. I will say that the Starbucks recently changed up its inside seating to these one piece wooden chairs that look hideously uncomfortable, but luckily, the weather was really nice, so we found an unoccupied table outside. There were already a couple of girls occupying a couch studying (during the summer? Heinous!), a man with a coffee and a newspaper methodically combing through it, and a couple of other stragglers, but we had no problems. And although it wasn't that busy inside the Starbucks, you should have seen the line of cars snaking around to go through the drive thru - it was a mile long! It would have taken those people so much less time to park, walk in and order than it did to go through the drive thru, I guarantee it. Oh well, their laziness, their loss. DARIA, in the Druid Hills & Briarcliff location is by far the most rude Starbucks employee I've ever encountered. Her disdain for my request was not how I would've liked my Wednesday morning to start off with. I placed a mobile order off the app; needless to say I'm a very regular customer of Starbucks. I could not find how to add a cup of water to my order so figured I'd just ask when given my items. I did so and was spoon fed a whole lot of attitude & told I needed to order that at the register and she then whipped around. I walked up to her and quietly said that it would've been so much nicer had she told me more politely. She condescendingly said, OK, have a good day. I told her that she was very rude and so she continued to prove it. I asked her name and she aggressively said DARIA, that's right DARIA OK NOW YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY BYE BYE BYE BYE all with rolling of the eyes and such. I can't believe a Starbucks employee would treat a customer as such. I'm simply appalled. This company is known for its exemplary customer service and I prefer to not pay $5 for a coffee drink if I'm going to be treated in that fashion. I am someone who calls in to speak to managers often to give employees &/or the location praise whenever it's due, I've done that twice this week with other establishments. Normally this location is great, I've had plenty of smiley faces and cheery attitudes, especially in their drive Thru, however today's incident has tainted the Druid Hills & Briarcliff Starbucks for me. Daria, I know it was busy (I've actually seen it far busier) but you work in customer service, as I have done for many years and you're also very high up in the adult age where you should know how to present yourself and how to represent the company you work for. I recently visited Starbucks (1st timer) and my experience was beyond pleasant. The guy working the drive through window (Mat) was extremely energetic and friendly. He answered all of my questions with no hesitations. I ordered a passion tea for the first but I mistaken ordered the unsweetened option. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND would order anything unsweetened, lol. Anywho, on the second trip to the location, Shaunna, was working the drive thru. Alright I just purchased 20 drinks from this location all in one order. I forgot to tell to them to put my two colleagues expresso's over ice. I said my mistake for not telling them to put it over ice and they got irritated? I'm gonna have to move my vehicle aside and come inside and get ice. I've had issues of trying to place a mobile order at this Starbucks and not being able to pick it up because they have their lobby closed multiple times. I understand times are difficult right now but I'm sure customers would appreciate a heads up on the app if the lobby is closed. I'm usually picking up on my way to work and have a couple of minutes to walk in, but I don't have 15+ minutes to wait in the drive thru. This past time, after I had waited in the drive thru line, I was handed an ice cold breakfast sandwich and a semi warm latte. The line to drive-thru is frequently backed up, but the staff here does a great job of moving it along. Shannon the barista was the most impolite barista I've ever encountered at a Starbucks. I ordered a soy latte and when she shouted out "caramel latte" I asked "does it have soy?" And she goes "no" and I go "oh maybe it's not mine" and she cuts me a look like, "are you serious?" So a couple minutes go by and no one claims the latte so I say to her "I guess this was supposed to be mine but I asked for soy milk" she doesn't give any apology just turns to the guy at the register and yells across the room to him "it was supposed to be soy! She wanted a soy latte!!" And I was just baffled that she would yell that loudly at her coworker in front of customers like that. The poor kid looked so defeated and apologized to us before turning to her and saying "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to mess it up." We assured him that it was no big deal but she says nothing to him, just has an angry look on her face. So she makes the soy latte and I'm standing right there at the counter and instead of just handing me my coffee she puts it down on the other side of the counter from where I am and yells "soy latte!" As if she didn't know it was mine. So rude! The Starbucks up the road at 2135 Briarcliff would NEVER. I suggest going there instead of this one. We used to go to this Starbucks quite often when we lived in this area and they are top-notch in my opinion. The staff are always very friendly and will joke around with you a bit. Im not a big coffee drinker, but I do get the craving for a great speciality drink. This location is the closest to my house, so I can get my sip on early! The staff is always pleasant, and efficient in preparing my morning fix.. Lol. My fix is always the same "Peppermint Mocha " w/whipped cream :) , so there is little room for error. It's right next to panera bread so there is a lot of out door seating, plus free wifi! on a side note, i sometimes see homeless/crazy people later at night (around 11pm). also, there are many chair hogs on occasion, so you might not get a seat. but i guess you could always act like a homeless/crazy person, and people would give you their seats. read more

I've lived in several states and frequented far too many Starbucks to count, but I have to give a shout-out to this location for excellent service. I worked in Atlanta for ten weeks last summer and stopped by here frequently on my way into the office. The baristas knew me very quickly and were always friendly. One of them memorized my order and sometimes even had my drink ready by the time I got to the counter, only asking if I wanted pumpkin bread that day! Definitely awesome. read more

One of my favorite Starbucks locations. It's one of the three closest Starbucks in my are and it is the best in that area. The baristas are always so friendly, personable, and helpful. I have studied and done school work here at this location since it is very convenient to the highway and it is attached to a Panera Bread restaurant. I usually go back and forth between the two to eat meals at Panera Bread and study at Starbucks! There are outside seating in comfy cushioned chairs and there is a drive through window for on-the-go orders. Make sure you bring a sweater/jacket because like all Starbucks locations, it can get chilly in there. read more
