There are often a lot of to go orders up and ready on the table. Efficient staff. I've never had to wait long at all. And of course - ahhhh. I am writing to express my concern regarding an experience I had today around 3:00 Pm Monday January 26th, 2026 at the Starbucks located at 7700 Norfolk Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814. I had been seated for approximately ten minutes with my computer, working on emails, when a Starbucks employee approached me on behalf of the manager and asked whether I intended to make a purchase. I politely stated that I did plan to make a purchase but was not ready at that moment. The employee informed me that I needed to make a purchase immediately in order to remain in the coffee shop otherwise I would be required to leave. Shortly afterward, I went to the register and ordered a coffee. At that point, the manager informed me that I needed to purchase additional items or I would have to leave the premises. I found this interaction to be unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming. I understand and respect that Starbucks locations are intended for paying customers. However, the manner in which this situation was handled felt dismissive and discourteous and very rude. I was treated as though I was not welcome, despite being an intending and ultimately paying customer. By far the worst Starbucks around. The attitudes are awful, the staff act like they're having a bad day every single time, and my drink is never made right the first time. I always have to get it remade because it comes out wrong or missing things as simple as ice, even when I ask for extra. Last visit, the cashier cut me off mid-order with an attitude, told me to "hold on," then I waited over 10 minutes for egg bites just to be told they never even charged me for them. Occasionally I'll come to this Starbucks after I finish an Orangetheory class down the street. By the time I get there, it's usually about 7:15-7:30 am and has steady customers without being wildly busy. The staff has always been very friendly and gets orders out relatively quickly. Occasionally they're out of the breakfast food items I want, but that's out of their control. I have also had someone grab my drink/ food items from the pick-up area, which is frustrating but again not the fault of this Starbucks or it's employees. read more

Really large Starbucks location which provides a lot of space for working and plenty of room for Starbucks products (tumblers, cups, etc.) I'm especially appreciative that this location opens up the earliest in this area (5am) so I can get a super early start to my day with caffeine in hand. Baristas are always friendly (in my experience) although a bit gossipy at times. Downside is that this location can be a bit slow at times, especially during peak hours: the line can literally reach the door and spill onto the sidewalk (and it's quite a distance from the door to the register) so you might not want to come here during those times if you're in a rush. read more

This is the closest location that I have so I come here relatively often. The staff is friendly and my order is usually ready in a decent amount of time. Today, however, I decided to try the new Brown Sugar Oatmilk drink and I was very disappointed. Both my friend and I ordered them.... mine was bitter and definitely in need of sugar while my friend's was super sweet and I could taste the sugar in that one. They honestly tasted like two completely different drinks. Also, with the amount of ice that was put it, I swear I got like 5 decent sips out of the grande size. AND THIS WAS $6 YALL. We get there at 4:20, and ordered one singular cake pop. the worker said OK and then he said he had to go back to receive it. The worker in fact do not go to the back and he stood there and did nothing. we're waiting for about 15 minutes. We than ask another worker "excuse me ma'am, where is this cake pop" She said "I apologize we forgot I'll go to the back" she in fact also did not go to back and did not get it. we wait another 15 minutes until we ask again, and five minutes later we finally get it after 35 minutes. Never ever again. Here's how yesterday morning played out: I get in line, but even with just a couple of people in front of me, it was a seven-minute wait to get to the counter to place my order. Order placed, it's five more minutes from the time stamp on my order to when my order was actually handed to me - and it doesn't take that long to heat up a pre-prepared breakfast sandwich now, does it? Now, as I'm waiting for my pre-prepared breakfast sandwich to be heated up, I take a sip of my coffee... and it's lukewarm. I should have known it would be when the person pouring my coffee yells over to another person behind the counter, saying "I need more coffee!" Well, I obviously needed more coffee myself - a fresh, hot cup - so I get back in line. A five-minute conversation then ensues between the person behind the counter and the first two of three people in line in front of me, line growing behind us. The person directly in front of me just got so disgusted with having to wait for this conversation to wrap up that he just left, passing a not-so-kind comment about the situation to me before going off to get his coffee somewhere else. I finally get to the counter, going through all of that just to get a hot cup of coffee, something I should have been handed in the first place. With a barista and two people behind the counter, there's really no excuse for the lack of coordination on this particular Friday morning. With the proliferation of so many other coffee places serving up just as good (and, in many instances, better) coffee of late, I think I'll be putting Starbucks on the back burner for a while, the same way Friday morning's customers at this Bethesda Starbucks were put on the back burner by its staff. read more

This is off my go to's. But I would have rated it 5 stars just 6 months ago. But something occurred. Music is now so loud that not even noise canceling headphones help. Something has also occurred with food. Drinks come out wayyyyy before food. When I say way 5-10 minutes. Positives. One of the more consistent pours by baristas of the many Starbucks I visit. It's also a large store with plenty of seating. In fact if they wanted they could put in at last one more table of the wanted to. If they ever redid the layout. I've come in here a lot to work. Because I telecommute, sometimes I like to be around people and pretend that we're in an office and I have friends. But also, there's a very generous amount of seating in this Starbucks and the cashiers are always friendly. Why do I give this particular Starbucks 5 stars. Here's the story. For an event I just did, I was the Barista for about 30 guests and made lattes and vanilla lattes. When I was at Costco, shopping for cups and what not- I ended up buying a large bag of Hawaiian coffee beans. I thought, ohh I'll really give them a treat with fancy Hawaiian coffee. The night before the event, I dropped by Starbucks for some of their delicious signature vanilla syrup. Up until that point, I forgot that I didn't have this giant bag of coffee ground. A Costco size bag of coffee beans that needed to be ground to a specific size ground. And, if I was going to do it, it would probably take an hour in my tiny little coffee grinder, and I would have to guess if it was ground fine enough for an espresso machine. Which isn't super easy. And I had SO much other stuff to do to prepare for the event. Well, I was so bold as to ask the Starbucks if they would grind this foreign beans for me... The manager ( I think) said that they usually don't grind other beans but they'd make an exception because I was in such dire straights. Do you know how much time that saved me. Do you know how much that little ounce of compassion went in the terms of customer service. I'm a customer their frequently, not at night when this manager was working - so she's never seen me before. She also didn't know that I used to work for the company. I put a lot of my heart in soul formally into a store in Towson Maryland. But she just saw the desperation on my face, knew she could do it, and obliged happily. I bought my vanilla syrup, got my beans ground and was such a happy camper. Great store, great service. I'll never forget that. I hope that she really understands how much that truly meant to me. Corner location off the main road in the area, so not terribly crowded. Lots of seating, even room for the hobo snoozing in the corner by the window. Small tables, long cushioned bench, comfy chairs by the door. Line winds along the ride side. Service was efficient and friendly, but once my whipped cream was flat. If they botch the drizzle on your drink they'll just add the right one on top, making it too sweet. Wrong orders, moldy grapes, forgotten receipts. Chai tasted soapy and pumpkin scone cakey. Sausage croissant is a glorified pig in pastry puff blanket, I've had better hot dogs. Pepperoni foldover had barely any cheese. It's Starbucks. It's actually a pretty big Starbucks, although it's laid out weirdly. The line forms straight ahead from the cashiers, while the food is displayed to the right of the cashiers- making it awkward to stand in line and squint at the food display to figure out what might be in there that you want. There are minimal items for sale- I checked for a bottle of SF vanilla syrup, and they didn't have any. Despite being big, they don't have as much seating as I expected (or maybe the seating was just a bit weirdly planned), and the seats often seem full of people with headphones on, staring at their laptops. I've gone a few times, and the line has ranged from no people to about 15 people. However, the cashiers have always been friendly and my drinks have always been made correctly- and it's the only Starbucks in the area. Despite all the above, if this place was closer to my apartment, I'd be there every day, just because I'm addicted to soy lattes. But I probably wouldn't go there to work during the day. read more

This starbucks is one of my favorites in the Bethesda area (believe me, I've been to a lot). The staff here is probably one of the most friendly and helpful. It's usually pretty crowded, so be on the lookout for a good seat as soon as you step in the door. The prices are your typical lofty Starbucks costs. One of the things that makes this a really great location is the design. I enjoy going to this Starbucks. The staff are very friendly and hard working. I would say the line rules are confusing, but now they have these green footprint decals to illustrate where to cue up (see my photos). Back in pre-floor-sticker days, I must admit I made some line entry/passing faux pas or two myself! They also carry good pastries now! -All Starbucks stores used to have dull and salty pastries, if you'd asked me, but they're a lot better now. As long as you enter from the Woodmont Ave. side, it's a great place. Like the other reviews say, it's good for meetings as there are a lot of tables. There is outdoor seating, but the construction/destruction has somewhat diminished the comfort of that this season. At times, the construction outside isn't fun to crawl over either, and must be done to enter the Norfolk Ave side. They've closed the sidewalk, at times on both sides, and part of the street, but I'll walk in the road, zig-zaging traffic buckets and vehicles anyways to get to my regular Starbucks! In the morning the wait can be about 5 minutes or so. Also, in the afternoon there isn't much of a line, but the employees are slower. I guess the slower rate of customers breeds a more apathetic attitude or something, and I end up feeling like I'm watching a slow-motion video when I order; in Metro Center or Union Station, by contrast, it's quick enough all day so this doesn't happen, possibly because the poor bastards are in fight-or-flight mode all day, but the tables at those locations become more crowded and dirtier. read more

I would give this location zero stars if I could. This staff is standoff-ish and basically inattentive. I get that it can be a thankless job and that during the morning they are rushed which is precisely why they should be focused on getting people their orders and on their way. I just "experienced" this terrible location for 25 minutes waiting on a cold brew coffee (I rarely drink coffee but wanted the caffeine pick me up this morning) and a breakfast sandwich. The coffee took longer than it should have but totally acceptable. The food? 25 minutes later I finally got it. Judging by their reactions it looks like they forgot about it then the barista put it out and just called Paige and not my name in a handful of items. So to be fair I guess it only took 23 minutes and had I not frustratingly asked them to just cancel the order I would have never known it was there. They were extremely unapologetic when I left. I rarely go to starbucks and now I know why. This one is terrible on every level and I will not return and I will do my best to convey this story to my entire office as well. read more

A large interior and a popular place among Bethesda residents and workers. Occasionally when I am doing work in Bethesda I would stop into this Starbucks to get morning coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Despite how busy this location is, which is very busy, the staff seems to be doing a good job in getting everyone's orders completed in a timely fashion. The interior is kept clean and so are the restrooms which is very important. This is a very convenient location at a popular corner which probably makes this a busy place. I see the classiest customers come in to this location. On my several visits I have never had a problem with any of my orders. read more

This is a LOUD and busy Starbucks with plenty of seating, which made it the perfect stop when I needed a place to sit for a couple of hours with free wifi to get some work done. It's bustling- even during the off-peak hours when I made it my home away from home there was consistently a line three to five people deep. However, the two friendly cashiers and two efficient baristas kept the line moving at a decent clip, both for ordering as well as receiving your drink. There were plenty of seating options at this location too. Whether you were looking for small tables, armchairs, or outdoor patio space to plop down in, they had you covered. Been here several times since I have my rotation in a nearby clinic. First time I came here, I ordered a tall black coffee... and the dark roast was empty at 8 in the morning.. and the medium roast was also empty.. WHO DRANK ALL THE COFFEE??? lol anyway, I ended up with the blonde roast since it was the only one available. Barista gave me a discount for the inconvenience, which I appreciate. Btw, plenty of seating and outlets along the wall if you need to get work done. Now for lunchtime. Who gets their lunch at Starbucks? Well, I had to cause I had more work to do! I got the Ancho Chipotle Chicken and Iced Peach Green Tea. The sandwich was surprisingly flavorful, although I felt like I've exceeded my recommended daily allowance for sodium. It wasn't too big either. I got just a pump of syrup with my tea (they usually put 3), and it turned out good. Didn't taste like it was watered down. They have other sandwiches in the side fridge that they warm up for you. Bistro stuff are also there if you're in a rush to pick up something. Seating is not plentiful at this time, just be aware.
