I tried their new Iced Ube Coconut Macchiato, which features layers of toasted coconut and creamy milk and espresso over ice. The ube cocnut cream cold foam had a sweet, nutty flavor with vanilla notes from the ube. The default is 3 pumps of toasted coconut syrup, and I changed it to 2 , but it was still a bit sweet for me. A Starbucks in the shopping center where Ross, Marshalls, and Old Navy is at. A great place to get a drink before you do your shopping. I appreciate the great service that Starbucks has given me. I never had Starbucks at this location but the excuse of having them was to get a drink before I headed out to Tokyo Central. I was impress how fast my drink was made when I order it through the app. I got my drink within 3 minute of the order from the app. That is fast service that Starbucks has given me. Luckily not much people were ordering drinks when I was there. Next time I am in the area I will definitely come back to Starbucks. read more

After a series of very positive experiences, this Starbucks gets a significant upgrade. Working down the street, I spend a lot of time in this Starbucks, the occasional business meeting, quick coffee during lunch. Here lately they're all very helpful, friendly, and the food and coffee comes out quick. While the Emeryville shopping center is overall very safe and popular, the staff here does have her challenges with the occasional problem guest, for want of a better word. But they deal with it quickly. The store is clean, the bathrooms are available, and there's even a small outdoor seating area. All in all I'm very happy to report this Starbucks has greatly improved and it remains one of my go-to places for coffee and pastries in Emeryville. read more

I had a very wonderful first experience at this Starbucks location this morning. This location was nicely maintained and welcoming. At the counter they had a little cup with "food for thought" blurbs that you can take and read which was sweet! The staff were great, but Gerson and another barista (unfortunately didn't get her name) went above and beyond to make my day a whole lot brighter on a rainy day! Also, the kid working today around 1pm will be mad disrespectful and tell you to wait when there's no additional orders or customers, and then proceed to complain about how he is the "only one working the front" today. I visited this Starbucks on Monday, July 14th around 11:30 AM with a clear purpose -- to purchase a mug as a gift for my dad. I was specifically deciding between two options: a regular ceramic mug or a travel mug, and was waiting for my dad's response to know which one to buy. While waiting for his reply, I asked to use the restroom. The staff member refused to give me the code unless I made a purchase. She could clearly see that I was about to buy one of the two items -- I wasn't just wandering in. I had come to this specific location to make a purchase. This kind of attitude felt unacceptable, especially at a place like Starbucks where good customer service is expected. I was a legitimate customer, actively in the process of buying something, and yet was treated as if I didn't belong there. Unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression. I'm leaving one star specifically because of how the employee handled the situation. I truly hope management will review this type of behavior -- it does not reflect the standards many of us associate with Starbucks. read more

Never heard of the new coffee place. They should build more of these and put them all over town, in shopping malls, grocery stores and gas stations. They sell coffee grown and roasted from a place call "Seattle" (I think it's somewhere in southern Thailand). They have so many coffee drinks to choose from and the prices are ridiculously low. You can also use a telephone to order ahead and the. just walk in and grab a drink off the counter, no questions asked, even if it's not the drink you ordered. There are people here that setup their laptop and check Facebook just so other people can see them using a laptop (genius!). I came here today for Mango Dragonfruit drink, & I gotta say the staff was doing an impressive job handling how much traffic there was (both a long line and also seemed to be a fair amount of courier orders.) There only seemed to be 3 people manning the place, although there were probably some I didn't see. It was very busy! But they were treating everyone very kindly and were friendly. While I waited for my drink I saw them take orders and serve a large family that didn't speak English fluently and was impressed by how they communicated with those folks. There was also a young man with a disability that seemingly affected his ability to speak clearly (it looked like he had ordered online for a pickup) and I liked how they didn't assume he was also intellectually challenged right off the bat when the spoke with him. They asked him what his name was and then when they struggled to understand they asked something like, "Hmm, the first letter of your name, is it S or C? (checked the cup labels) Pumpkin spice cold brew? AH ok found it! here ya go." Service industry can be TOUGH especially in a high-traffic franchise. This location seems to get slammed hard by people & families who are shopping in the Ross Dress For Less/Marshalls plaza, especially on weekends. The baristas and cashier kept their cool, kept up with the ticket typhoon, and still remained kind and friendly. They all deserve raises imo. Busy Starbucks is a sea of humanity! We've been to this Starbucks a few times now since we were regularly at Men's Warehouse for a hot minute. The four stars is because once your drink is ordered, it comes out at lightning speed. I mean, incredibly fast. It's just ordering that's the issue. Both times I waited at the front for a good handful of minutes, just chillin, to have my order be taken. Service was polite and friendly all our visits, but that odd wait with no one at the register, it seems to be this locations thing. I don't think I've ever come across it before at a Starbucks. Not one of the 4 employees acknowledged my existence. 2 more customers walked in. The 4th employee walked up to the register and just stands there. Looks at them and doesn't say a word. She signals to them to come over. Again ignores me. I spoke up and said I was here first and she scolds me for walking into the register area from the wrong side (again I was the only customer there before the other two showed up) and says 'ok fine what do you want?' I was hoping since moving to Emeryville I'd like this location better as my closest go to Starbucks over my old one but somehow this location is even worse. Much worse. Lines are shorter but workers are less friendly and in the two times I've visited this location, they first got my order wrong which I didn't realize until I got home and the second time, they gave me a sad, watery, melted Frappuccino that tastes just as sad as it looks. I live 5 minutes away from this location and the drink was completely melted by the time I walked in my door. If I wasn't so tired from work I would go back there and ask for another one because this really is a sad effort.
