On our way to Maui, I swung by the Portland Airport Starbucks to grab my wife a good coffee, only to find out they were out of hot drinks and the baristas were practically snickering about it. Apparently the machine blew up, and instead of handling it, they looked relieved, like this was their golden ticket out of making lattes for the rest of the day. All they offered was drip coffee, which is wild because that's like going to a sushi bar and being told they only serve crackers. The attitude was pure "we don't give a damn," and the delivery was even worse. Honestly, with how unbothered they were, you'd think having no working equipment was the plan all along. A coffee shop with no coffee? Not even an attempt to act professional about it? They should be kicked out of the airport and replaced with someone whose machines don't detonate before sunrise. Usually Starbucks is dependable, but this spot was basically a caffeine-themed disappointment exhibit. Two stars, and only because the drip was warm. read more

Everything was good during my quick and short stop for my walk. Clean gender neutral restrooms with toilet seat covers. Updated: I came back an hour later on my way back home from my walk for the London Fog since it was drizzled outside. My small size drink tasted like hot steamed water with no typical London Fog flavor. They didn't have any sleeves so it was double cups; it didn't work. Sufficient service. I wish they don't charge also $2.00 extra for pumpkin cream when you order other drinks beside the cold brew. While it didn't exactly weigh on me that I had given a newer Starbucks in the Sunnyside Corridor 2 stars, I knew something about it wasn't right. In getting some groceries nearby at the new Grocery Outlet, I decided to drop by again. I was able to find courteous and accurate service, a cold drink for a warmer evening, and a nice area inside the front of the store where to consume my purchase and ponder, something that coffeehouses are very adept for. I was happy to see that the ridiculous and sullen exchange from a previous visit months back was an anomaly, but then I've only been here twice at this point. I'm bumping this Starbucks store up to 3 stars, as in right in the pack for a suburban Starbucks. Also, their lobby area is open until 10 p.m. as of this writing. However, if you can get in earlier than that, I'd have to defer to both Peet's (east of here) and Elka Bee's (west of here) for being the better coffeehouses along Sunnyside Road. read more

This location is almost always busy whether it's the drive thru or in store but despite its busyness, the wait time is pretty short and the baristas are always friendly and helpful. First off, I like to grab a coffee on my morning break and this location is the closest drive thru from my house. No matter what I order the the flavor of the coffee drink is NEVER consistent. When you order a honey flat white with almond milk, you expect almond milk not regular milk. You order a cold brew with vanilla sweet cream you expect sweet cream not regular cream. And just this morning we ordered a nitro cold brew with sweet cream and AGAIN they used regular cream. You pay a premium price for a drink you expect the drinks to be correct and consistent! As a gold card member and Starbucks addict, this location is horrendous in dealing with their clients, even as their staff is responsible for incorrect orders. My friend (a former Starbucks employee) and I orders 2 specialized oatmeals, before realizing upon eating them some 10 miles down the road that they were missing half the ingredients. Upon requesting new oatmeals we were insulted by the shift manager and baristas, Jessie & Angel, that we were trying to "jip" them because we had eaten some of the product before recognizing the error, informed there was NO manager who could help us with our issue,& sarcastically handed a receipt with "1800 STARBUCKS" written on it when we asked for a customer service associate. We then left with the oatmeals given, extremely offended and appalled, before biting into them and realizing they were raw. The staff intentionally fed us raw oatmeal, which posed a significant health risk to anyone ingesting it. I am currently awaiting pregnancy results and have multiple allergy issues, now being forced to seek medical advice after this incident. read more

When pumpkin season is here I love the pumpkin scones warmed up a little. Every single time they give me the shpeal on how the icing will melt. Every single time I tell them, it's fine I like it warm. This particular one said, "well we don't do that here". So what you're telling me is you won't heat it up even when I told you every single time they do it anyway with me knowing that's a possibility? Terrible customer service! And the damn icing does not come off because it's never warmed up enough. Don't tell a customer no they can't have it how they want. That's just a recipe for a bad review. Every time I order a blonde caramel latte I get a damn cloud latte, I have a severe egg allergy and the cloud states right on the menu that it contains eggs... good thing it caught my attention and I didn't drink it the THREE times my order was incorrect! But once I got up to the window the girl working and her co worker were mocking the persons drink that was currently at the speaker. They kept talking in a funny voice and making fun of her order? There are some Starbucks that shouldn't have drive thrus...this is one of them. Who designed this crappy parking lot? If you're a patron there and you go in, there's a very good chance that your car will be held hostage by other drivers waiting in line for coffee at the drive thru. The drive through is awkwardly placed (make about 4 left turns from the main road then behind the store to get to it...) and the general navigation to that and the store's parking lot is a bit weird but it has the Starbucks usuals-friendly people, nice seating area, decent drinks: you know what to expect. The inside has a good layout and it was very clean. Of course, it is still new but it beats the Starbucks further down Sunnyside in all ways--service, seating area, cleanliness, drink quality all done better at this one. read more

I'm not sure why I keep coming back to this location. One out of every two times I come here something is screwed up. Whether is not getting my food order right, or not having my drink right, it happens quite often. I come here simply because it's on my way to work, but seeing as how there is two other Starbucks closer to my work, I really should learn to go to one of those two places. And don't expect the Baristas to care if they screw up your order. They really don't. They just look at you like "oh well no big deal." There's something good going on at this location because there's usually a long line of cars in the drive-thru. The city of Happy Valley planned poorly for this business. As well as the other businesses in the same lot. Bad location, parking lot is tiny making it hard for people to back-out when there's a line in the drive-thru. I've gone inside the store when the line is long and I'm in a hurry. It takes longer!! Their priority is the drive-thru customers. I regret that they changed their furniture to make it the most uncomfortable chairs there could be, with zero low back support. Was that so people wouldn't stay so long? Stopped in Christmas morning because daughter wanted a fancy coffee for the long drive to grandmas. We anticipated waiting. Ordered drinks and about 20 people in the store. People walked in 20 min after we ordered and probably worked there because they knew the staff and 5 min later their drinks were handed to them. After 30 min and a whole new batch of folks waiting I asked about my drinks and all they said was will let you know when ready. Another 10 min goes by and I asked for a refund of my drinks. They said your drinks will be ready soon. I said how do you know? You never asked my name. She asked and they said will let you know when ready. I said I want a refund and she repeated will let you know. I repeated I have to leave and cant wait and want a refund. She repeated will let you know again. Disappointing customer service we accidentally made a mistake by grabbing the wrong drink and after we noticed we advised the barista about it and ask her if she can remake the drink for the person in front of us she took the drink out of a hand through it into the sink and proceeded to be rude to us about it I've been a loyal Starbucks customer for the past six years and this is the first time I experience such a bad service. I never get anything but the best service here. Even when I complain and someone argues with me, they fix it. It's a super busy Starbucks and I get the staff being frazzled. My wife just came home from getting a Venti Carmel Macchiato for me. We live one minute away. When she handed it to me, I felt as though there was nothing in it. My wife said she complained about the amount of foam in my cup and the lady said it was normal. My cup feels as though it were a tall sized coffee. Very rude staff! I usually will go through the drive-through or walk in this particular Starbucks depending on which looks busier. I went in a couple weeks ago and ended up in the drive-through. I usually get a regular coffee but was interested in an extra espresso shot. When I pulled up I ordered some kind of pastry and then asked how much it would cost for a shot of espresso. There was fidgeting on the other end of the speaker but no answer. I asked if she was still there, and she said, "anyway, what can I get you to drink?" I then repeated my question and said "how much is a shot of espresso? She then rudely said, " Holy Cow, I don't know, probably like .70 or .75 cents.!" Like, seriously? Is it offensive that I ask you how much something costs? She made me feel like I was such an inconvenience. I go through this drive thru Starbucks quite frequently on my way to work in the mornings and for some reason it's extremely difficult for them to get my drink correct. I always get my coffees iced, and 8/10 times they hand me a hot drink. This morning for instance i asked for my drink iced TWICE, just to double check they heard me, and i get up to the window and she hands me a hot drink.
