Damn another one bites the dust. When I left Hayward I was sad because this was the Starbucks to go to. Not anymore. After a short weekend visit, I decided to go to all the places I missed and I should have just kept it moving. On two separate occasions I was greeted by the same barista whom I believe was part of the Third Reich because she was robotic and cold. Perhaps, it was one of "them shiny new robo-baristas" the government has been working on. It was malfunctioning as it didn't understand a lick of English (looks for the setting). I repeated my drink three times, then she smiled took my card and went back to being a statue. The guy at the bar was too busy conversing with, I'm assuming robo-barista's debugger and not paying attention to what he was doing. Both drinks were shitty. How hard is it to put a few shots of espresso, syrup and milk into a cup? No, seriously please tell me because as a former Starbucks barista I can tell you that it can be done with your eyes closed. date of visit: 10/23 2:05pm i am a general manager at a store in the food industry and i also used to work at starbucks. and it's bound to happen that a customer/guest will forget or not realize what they order or even realize they don't like what they ordered. i'm sitting here in the lobby and i usually mind my own business but i can't help but to overhear the barista (white gauges) getting on a customer for wanting a mocha frappe but instead got a caramel frappe. the order was made through mobile order and the customer understands he was at fault but the barista literally spelled out MOCHA in a rude way. i'm pretty sure starbucks is all for goodness guarantee for their customers and want to make their customer satisfied. it isn't busy or anything so i just don't what was the need to embarrass the customer. read more

I come to this starbucks often as an almost de-facto hangout destination (and for the free internet). Theres this older, African-American guy who works there and is pretty funny, he lightens up the mood when he works there and its warm (unlike other Starbucks locations) and pretty cozy so that helps too. I go to this Starbucks. Its convenient, refills are cheap, wifi is cool. The coffee can taste like flavored coffee water but it gets the job done once I drench it with extras. The patio area is right next to the main road so the traffic/rap being blasted can kill the vibe sometimes but other than that its nice. Its no Peet's but it works! read more

I honestly have a lot of issues with this place. I go there and most of the ladies that work there can't even throw a smile at you. I feel so awkward going in there. This one time I went in there and asked a simple wuestion and she just nodded her head and death stared me. She was soooo rude. When I in there I like it better when the men are working. Obviously I am a huge Starbucks addict, since I keep reviewing all these Starbucks locations. If you've read my reviews, you see that I love the Target that is in the same little shopping area here. You might also know that said Target has a Starbucks inside. I am not a huge fan of Starbucks inside of big retailers. It just seems to me, that something is lost. Yes, it's convenient, but it never lives up to the taste expectation or the customer service expectation. Well, luckly, across the same parking lot, there is a "real" Starbucks. This is a cute little location. When I was in, it was very clean and tidy. The lady at the register was a little slow, I think she was training, so that is forgivable....especially since I do order one of those drinks that takes 10 minutes to recite and 10 sharpies to write on the cup..LOL. Anyway, this location gets 3 stars, because it took them forever to actually make the drink. There was no line, no one waiting in front of me, the "experienced lady" was just to busy flapping her gums about what she did last night. It sounded like fun, but I wanted my coffee and to be on my way. I'll try them again to see if it was just a fluke though. They do have a nice little patio area outside to sit and watch the Hesperian Blvd. traffic go by too. read more

This is probably one of my favorite Starbucks of the what... 1,000 I've been to? They have a very nice and expansive outdoor seating area that isn't just the usual wired chairs and tables, but has nice modern stone bench seating and gives it a little getaway alcove from the noise and the cars right behind it on A Street. The plaza is also convenient with food, Jamba, Target, and other stores that might pique your interest on any given day. The staff here is always extremely nice and they have plenty of outlets for you to dock yourself. You'll never have to worry about getting that particular seat next to the door because that's the only one with an outlet. Plenty Almost all the tables (except outdoors) has access to an outlet nearby and it's never so busy that there isn't enough seating for everyone. Definitely a fan! P.S. I provide my own secure internet when I go to cafes but I think Starbucks now has free wifi! read more

I come to this Starbucks a lot to get stuff done. All the workers are extremely nice and a lot of them remember me now and remember my order. The area is a little small, so it may get difficult to find a seat if there are a lot of people here. Most tables are near an outlet except for the tables right next to the door to the outdoor tables. That being said, there are many tables outside with large umbrellas. Don't think there are outlets outside but nice place to chill if you want to be outside (however you'll be right near the busy intersection of Hesperian Blvd and A St.) The area inside runs a little on the colder side, even during winter, so bring a light jacket if you get cold easily. The bathrooms need a 5 digit code which you have to ask for. They think of funny codes sometimes (they had 90210 for a long time.) This place does get a lot of students after school gets out but other than that this place is great. A nice quiet alternative compared to the much busier Starbucks at Lewelling and the one at Bayfair. read more

Normal Starbucks fare, and the staff have always made my drink well. Once I came in and there was a huge line of people waiting for drinks, but it looked like a few people had ordered fraps so it held up the barista (only one girl, felt badly for her!). So it took awhile. Usually they are pretty efficient, though. However, there are usually some characters hanging around outside or inside, or just taking up a table to read the newspaper. I would never come here to study, there's like 3 tables and there's no guarantee you'd be able to snag one. I stick to larger Starbucks locations (or Panera) for getting work done. I'll continue swinging by this location when it's on my way, but wouldn't make a special trip. read more

This Starbucks is in a weird corner that makes the shape of it really unique. When you first enter the store, you immediately end up in line for the barista. The rest of the sitting area is behind the pick-up table area. They even have a patio for those sunny days on W. A st. In short: clean bathroom, can be a little crowded during rush hour, and definitely hidden in the mall. read more

Seems like they struggle with getting my order right every time..and I tend to go a lot bc I work close by. This time, I ordered a Pumpkin spice frapp, and they left out the coffee. Last time, I ordered the Pumpkin Creme Cold brew and they left out the extra pumps of pumpkin sauce that I paid extra for. Hmm, mixed feelings. The drinks are good, like most starbucks'. They don't have much indoor seating, but they have a decent sized patio where you can chill (Well, sorta.. the traffic from the intersection can be pretty loud). The main thing I don't like about this place is the workers. Almost every single time I go there is this young lady who doesn't seem to know how to smile. She seems to dislike working there a lot, and isn't friendly. One day I ordered a fruit bowl, and I didn't see any utensils so I used one of those wooden stirrers to eat the fruit. The lady came by a few minutes later and tossed a fork on my table without saying a word O_O. Thanks, I guess?? If you want friendlier service, go to the Starbucks by Walgreens down hesperian, or the starbucks by Walmart the opposite direction down hesperian. Eon Coffee is my favorite though :D. First of all the workers have a horrible attitude. My friend goes ahead and orders for me, but waits for a minute or two because two of the employees just wanted to chat away. After placing our order we asked for a sippy cup lid. The barista rolls their eyes and just say "Kay". Then I asked for water, all while still being at the cash register. The other barista making the drinks hands over our drinks and just rolls his eyes again and puckers up his lips and turns away. This is the second experience and second location where the baristas just have a rude tone and attitude towards customers. Hire a completely new staff. read more

I usually don't write reviews on the Starbucks cafés I've been to, so this is my first time. This store, located on Hesperian and A Street in Hayward, is about 1.5 miles from where I live, so I've been going there for a very long time. I recognize most of the employees, and most of them know me and my preferred drinks, depending on the season and the weather. :) It's funny because today I just "formally" introduced myself to a couple of the baristas who make my drinks/take my order, and I've been going there for years. They're quite nice and friendly. I do agree that there was one particular female employee who never seemed to smile and was very cold and impersonal; I don't think she works there anymore. I say good riddance! For the most part, though, my experience has been positive, and the African-American manager there is very friendly and upbeat. I've never had any problems with my drinks and refreshments. My favorite beverages are Breve Cappuccino, Breve Latté (cold or hot), Breve White Mocha (cold or hot), and Iced Tea Lemonade. Their selection of pastries varies, and sometimes it's kind of sparse, depending on the time of the day. I usually snack on a Cake Pop, Cinnamon Swirl or Regular Coffee Cake. If I have time and there's space, I usually sit in there and check my Facebook/surf the Web on my cell phone. The place looks clean and organized, though I wouldn't normally sit outside on the patio. This is the worst for mobile orders, they are never ready on time. And when you pick up, the workers act like they don't see you waiting for your mobile order! They are refilling stock and moving at a snail's pace. I have ordered multiple times from here and same experience. This is one of the worst Starbucks in Hayward! Don't ever put in a mobile order - they have messed up the past 3 orders in a row! Needless to say, I will not return to this Starbucks anymore. When speaking to a barista over the phone after calling to inform them that they messed up my order, they stated that it's on the customer to ensure that their order is made right as they don't always check the receipts for each mobile order as they are "very busy".
