I am a huge fan of Starbucks and have been a gold member for years. That being said, I may be a bit critical in my review. LOCATION: This location is generally busy throughout the day. There are normal rushes that come after lunch, during the middle of the afternoon, and definitely on days where there is a special going on for members. That being said, usual wait time is not very long. AMBIANCE: There are almost always chairs and tables that you can find. Most of the customers take their drinks to-go, so it's usually not a problem to find seating. The location could use a couple of things to freshen it up but it's not a big deal. The bathroom is spacious and cleaned often if you had a concern. BARISTAS: Generally nice. There's one barista who has made my drink incorrectly more than once. I asked for it to be remade on two different occasions. He seemed annoyed and now I'll just take my wrongly made drink and scarf it down. I go there too often to make enemies with a barista. Besides him, everyone else on the team is really nice and sweet. WARNING: This location has a couple baristas who make drinks very sweet. I would recommend cutting down on the amount of sweetener used. I think they use very FULL pumps. DRINKS: My consistent favorite is a Tall Black Iced Coffee with one pump of sweetener (but at this location get 1/2 a pump). This combination brings out the nuttiness of the coffee and I find that I don't need any milk or half and half. This is what I get 9/10 times I go to Starbucks. Plus, if you're a member, you also get free refills on your iced coffee/tea drinks during the same visit! So yay more coffee! Overall, I would have given this place a 3.5/5, but I go here too often and it has grown on me. To anyone else who knows their Starbucks, just lessen your sweetener and it's a nice, convenient location in the Med Center. read more

It's a Starbucks, so you get what you expect from this coffee chain. This is in the middle of the Medical Center across from Methodist, TCH, and St. Lukes, so I expect many employees come here to get their coffee fix. I've only been during late afternoon, early evening times and it's usually not busy at all. The baristas are always friendly and make small talk with you. I've never waited a long time to get my drink which is awesome. There is plenty of seating which usually is filled with people studying. This Starbucks also has a large selection of reserve coffees which interchange every so often. If you are into different coffee selections from around the world, this would satisfy your needs. read more

It's Starbucks ... Pretty much, it's what you would expect from any other coffee chain. During early morning and late afternoon, it can get pretty busy as Med Center employees arrive/leave, so plan to wait up to 10-15min to get your caffeine fix. A clean and relatively friendly Starbucks located across from the busy Marriott Hotel (medical centre). I wasn't impressed that the menu was not above head and somewhat hidden from plain view. Prices were reasonable and perhaps somewhat cheaper than other parts of the U.S. Hours were consistent with most Starbucks, but they did not have any fresh "snacks" roughly 1-2 hours before closing. Came here during my first trip in Houston, and I have to say this is the most pleasant Starbucks I've ever been in. The staff is so sweet and my drink was perfect. This is definitely your average Starbucks with one exception: the staff is not well informed about the refill policy. My first round of a drink was a Frappacino and once I finished it, I went to the bar to redeem a free iced coffee refill as a gold member. The barista did not know that I was "eligible for free refills on brewed or iced coffee or tea beverages of the same size (some restrictions apply), regardless of the original beverage purchased". She was very adamant that because I had ordered a Frappacino as my original drink, I couldn't get a refill. She eventually called another employee over, who was equally misinformed about the policy. I tried to explain their corporate policy and how it exists at all other locations, but they kept looking at me incredulously. Eventually, they ended up giving me the free refill but with the attitude that I had created this policy rather than Starbucks corporate. I have received excellent customer service at other locations and was disappointed to find out that my experience here broke that trend. read more

I hardly come to this location because of the attitude of the staff. But I was craving it so I gave in. I ordered a white mocha and a croissant. Simple,right? I waited a good 15 minutes but it was packed when I went in. The only problem is the attitude is of the boy at the register with the pink hair. Don't know his name and don't care. Came in one day and the line was out the door. It went very quick, though, as the counter help and baristas are pros. But here's the kicker.....the entire crew is SO stinking friendly and truly (seem to) enjoy their jobs. The older gentleman who took my order was so friendly ("Welcome to Starbucks...how am I going to take your monies today??!?!?). Super friendly, fun and flirty with the ladies and everyone left the counter with a BIG OLE smile on their faces. Great job. Great Job. GREAT JOB. Went to medical school here and now I'm doing residency. Honestly the only reason I keep coming to this location is bc it is so close. The baristas in the morning are GREAT. They make an extra effort to try and learn your name (even if it requires cheating off your ID badge). The biggest downfall is I think it gets too busy for its own good. If you're in any hury to get anywhere..forget it. I can understand the wait in the morning when the crowd is out the door, but it seems like later in the day the quality/speed of service dwindles. read more

It's in a central location in the Med Center, so it can get really busy at times. I've always found the service fast and friendly.

I don't usually write up Starbucks but I am finding that it is uncommon to find good Starbucks these days and some are just horrible. This store is notorious for never getting an order right in our place of work. Every time I go to this store I have an issue and most of the time the drinks aren't made correctly. Last time I was here I ordered a Hazelnut Macchiato and I think they forgot to put the syrup in it. Management here needs to really take a look at the store that serves so much of the Medical Center because they could be making money. Many of us just try to go to another Starbucks before we get to work after so many mishaps here. read more

I'll write a review but I feel like 99.9% of the Starbucks I've been to have been great experiences. This location is really busy as its in the med center and most healthcare practitioners start their day at the crack of dawn so everybody needs their caffeine fix multiple times during the day. The staff here however is very attentive at using our hospital name badges to address us by first name before we even put in our drink order, I thought that was a very smart and intuitive way to practice good customer service. They are very fast and very friendly, in and out in less than 5 minutes, what more could you ask for! read more

Don't bother mobile ordering here. Too many times I've had to wait more than 15 minutes for my order and watched customers walk right in order and get their drinks before mine. This is the only Starbucks location I've had this issue with. I hope management can fix this. When I addressed this issue with their staff they did not care. No apology nothing. I travel a lot for my job and always look for a Starbucks in the morning no matter where I am. I am currently staying at the Hilton on the Med Center in Houston and this Starbucks came up on my google maps to being the closest starbucks to where I was staying. Wow, it is busy! This was such a great experience because of a gal named Helen. She whizzed around from register to register and in her flow of managing a constant stream of customers, she was keeping track of orders that needed to be placed in the to go section while circling back to call out people's names that were waiting at the counter for their drinks. She was a perfectly orchestrating gaps of 15 sec between all activities needing attention. It was fun to watch as she was so pleasant to everyone along the way. It is almost like she had a set of eyes on 4 sides of her head and arms to react to what she was seeing as well as proactively anticipating filling in potential 10 sec delays. Thank goodness this location finally opened back up! As a person who works in the area I'm so happy to have this Starbucks back. One might think after reading those first two sentences my review should be a bit higher. However, this Starbucks is so slow! I order everything using the app so I can't really even comment on the customer service interaction portion other than the many times I've had to ask about my order (in which I've probably said it with a hint of irritation which is why I've probably gotten an irritated voice back to me). I honestly can't pinpoint whether my irritation is with the app or the store. The app tells you how long your wait is going to be when you order. I normally leave a little in between the approximate time to get there on the tail end of the wait time (I work fairly close). If the app said my drink would be ready in 4-8 minutes why is it 10 minutes after the 4-8 minute threshold (totaling 18 minutes) and I don't have a drink (normally something easy most recently the citrus defender or the pink drink)? If I order in the mornings I can typically walk in and just grab my drink--it's sitting there waiting for me. However the afternoons are terrible. As mentioned previously, I can't pinpoint exactly who I'm frustrated with (as I don't know how the algorithm to the app's given wait time). On a positive note, no matter how long the delay I am glad this Starbucks is back in business. read more
