Approaching this Starbucks in Lake O from the parking lot it shares with a health food supermarket (not my thing).
    Robert G.

Along with the other Starbucks on OR-43, this one is instead squarely in Lake O, right across from the funky State Theater, not far from the lake itself, not far from the quaint historic village, and in a shopping center along State Street that has enough parking because it is shared with other merchants. Pull on in! This isn't a historic building, but it does look like it belongs in the English countryside ... sort of. It looks like a big country house. And, once you go inside, you'll see how homey it is, even though I don't think homies are found in Lake Oswego. It's not as comfortable and spacious as the store I reviewed in (north) West Linn, but the service was more on point. There, I said it. I also believe that, consistent with other places along this roadway, they might not stay open as late in the evenings. Their offerings are standard and reliable. The service was friendly. The atmosphere is great. And, with not as high of a Stepford quotient as I would have imagined, there was some interesting diversity. Obviously, some people were employees in the area, some were picking up something to eat and drink while motoring through, some were studying, but the icing on the cake was a somewhat animated discussion by a few ladies speaking their multisyllabic and melodious Japanese and having a few good chuckles. Good stuff. Part of the coffeehouse formula is people watching, am I right? This Starbucks in Lake O is not a run of the mill 3 star Starbucks. In my mind, it's definitely a 4 star Starbucks, but then tony Lake O is not a 3 star sort of place. If in this area and in need of a caffeine fix and/or a homey place for a hot beverage, this store is recommended.

At 6:30 am, Starbucks team working early is really, really nice. Never had an issue with my order or rude staff.

Typical Starbucks with typical Starbucks fare. Parking lot is difficult, but the Starbucks is clean and friendly.

All four sandwiches were really tasty from the bottom tier, the middle tier was probably my least favorite, the top tier had all the sweet treats. They also offer a children's tea service which had a lot of great options. The tea was fantastic (we ordered the Darling Darjeeling), but I wish we could have gotten one tea pot per adult instead of sharing one with the tea service. My daughter loved her apple and honey tea. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and they offered hot water refills more than once which was nice. The tea room was chic and very clean. Location was a little hard to find. Waze and Google Maps took me to the back parking lot, but the signage was on the street side of the building.

They have a beautiful garden out front and they harvest the herbs and produce they grow there for their menu items. We got to try two recommended teas, the Darling Darjeeling and Moonlight Juhi. Both were delightful and full-bodied with the subtle florals complimenting each of the teas. I really enjoyed all the sandwiches and sweets that came as part of the tea set. The staff were welcoming and very knowledgeable as they described each of the food as well as the teas to us. I highly recommend coming here if you're looking to spend a lovely time celebrating something special!

There is a great exterior patio area and the service is delightful. I honestly had never heard of a kolache before I visited this facility. I can honestly say that it's a unique but delicious pastry that comes with your choice of filling at this shop. I went with the OG and was definitely not disappointed. I was able to chat with the owner while I waited for my food and had a very lovely interaction. In general, the atmosphere is very friendly and seemed like a very family friendly environment. Definitely check it out if you want to have some quality service while trying a pastry you've probably never heard of... all at an affordable price and in a vintage style restaurant.

I ordered three different savory kolaches, and being from Texas I was wondering if they'd hold up. The OG is almost exactly the same, it's got a slightly different texture and the breading is less flaky than what I usually get at home, but it's still very good. The Bacon Me Happy was also super good, it's not like the usual savory kolaches back home but it was very tasty. The Happy Bird uses turkey sausage, which is good for anyone who wants less red meat in their diet, and I liked the cheese a lot. One more difference between these and the ones back home is these are less rectangular, which I think is closer to the original recipe than the ones I'm used to having.
