The building echos (every metal banging sound can be heard) and can't hear the music unless seated by the wall. There's enough seating, if it gets busy they might need more and there is a little room. No artwork, and the ceilings are tall with modern lighting. It could use a couple larger paintings. I had a really weird experience today at this Starbucks but I'm still going to give this place 5 stars based on the barista who helped me. I preordered 2 drinks. One of my drinks I completely forgot to add a splash of soy milk too (literally a splash cause otherwise my stomach gets upset from the acidic coffee). When I got to the counter I explained to the barista (before I received my drinks) that I forgot to add the splash to one of my drinks and I'll pay for the splash if I need to. The barista was SUPER kind (super curly hair-didnt catch her name) and added a splash. But during the process of her getting the soy milk out this blonde female (what I assume is a shift manager) standing behind her said, Good Morning Christine". It took me off guard cause I was like who are you; I don't come inside often and usually my boyfriend picks up my drink (in my head). Anyway, I replied, "Good Morning?" Thats when I realized she was just micromanaging her employee for potentially not saying good morning to me. It was honestly really off putting as a customer (the tone in her voice). As a person who worked in the food industry for many years and as a nurse who has trained many people; that is not how you train your employees. This obviously won't stop me from ordering Starbucks but felt the need to address it. The barista who helped me this morning was FANTASTIC and whoever you are THANK YOU! read more

Now that this location has been open for a while, they've gotten into their rhythm and service is much better. They have several of the usual workers plus a lot of newer help. Since COVID the inside has only recently reopened, yet very few people are sitting inside as of now. Despite the huge lot that this newer location is on, they only carved out space for one outdoor table, near the drive thru, so the drive thru continues to be the bulk of their business. And it's always busy! The line often wraps around the building. It wasn't designed very well and can be dangerous since cars are coming from all angles. Overall this is a nice location, you just have to be careful, whether walking or driving. read more

My last visit didn't leave me feeling too welcomed by the barista. She seemed a bit impatient despite the place being practically empty. I don't even know if she included the shots in my macchiato as I had asked. There was no hello or here's your drink, have a nice day. No thank you as I placed a tip. The couches also really looked worn out, which just added to my not so pleasant experience. Thus, it's a one star deduction. This is one of the worst Starbucks I have ever been to and I am a loyal longtime customer (generally love Starbucks). The 'warmed' bagel was not warm or even cut in half, no knife to spread the cream cheese, the iced latte was horrible. I never ask to have anything remade but am tired of the increasingly sub-par experiences at Starbucks. The remade latte was just as bad. The barista had a horrible attitude and if she asked what was wrong with the first one, I could have helped her. The outside tables were all dirty with cups and debris. Typical Starbucks with some decent work tables. Drinks are made fast and right every time. The baristas are so lovely and friendly and make our day all the time. They go above and beyond any other Starbucks I have been too. If I want to try something new, there's always someone who can give me their opinion on the staff. Strong coffee, (they nail my long order every time ) and some friendly 'happy to know you exist' type of people behind the scenes to greet you at the window. Today though... Today was impressive! The cozy neighborhood Starbucks on the corner of Kostner closed and this new store one block east has replaced it. There's a drive thru so those customers seem to take priority over the walk ins -all the staff are wearing headsets except the cashier. Everyone seems to be new at their jobs, particularly the cashier who didn't seem familiar with the food items and had to ask several times to confirm my drink order. I waited quite a while when one of the headset staff noticed me and went to find out what happened to my order. Update 2 months later: walk-in customers still have to wait as the drive-thru people are priority and staff still seems a little unorganized but I'll raise them a star for keeping a clean comfortable store with good music read more

Really mixed feelings about this Starbucks. I go here often and it's my favorite Starbucks in the neighborhood, because they always make the drinks right. I've never had an issue with any drink orders or drinks tasting off. However, it takes FOREVER to get your order. The drive through is a 20+ min wait always, and each car is at the window for like 5 mins at a time. Even with mobile order, they are often really late on getting your drink prepared. I assumed it was because of being understaffed, but there's at least 5-7 baristas working at once; so that's kinda upsetting and annoying. Secondly, I tried to go in to get work done and sit down at a table, but I was literally shocked at how loud it was in there. There was no soothing coffee shop music, there were people loudly speaking on the phone, having loud conversations, etc. It sounded as if I were in a crowded restaurant versus a Starbucks. It was really disappointing to me and I ended up having to leave because I couldn't take it anymore. On a more positive note, recently I tentatively asked a barista for a straw and she reassured me not to worry about asking and was super kind overall. It made my day because now that Starbucks uses those new lids, the baristas don't hand out straws anymore, and in my experience normally it's annoying to ask for them to grab u a straw after they hand you your drink. It was just a simple comment that made me feel valued as a customer. Overall, if you want your drinks made right, the baristas at the Starbucks make it best in the neighborhood. Went through drive thru to order two iced black only coffees.. only to realize two miles down the road that there was sugar added to both... drove back to the location to have drinks switched but managerial type person at register was less than impressed to tell me "in the future when you order black only it comes as a default with sugar". No sincerity or apologies... felt like I Inconvenienced him. I order this Drink regularly and I have never ordered a black only coffee and have it default to sugar added. I admit I have been coming in here for years when I used to live in this hood. But I dont live there anymore but I have friends who do. There are alot of characters who hang out here but they all buy coffee so they are not the trouble making kind like the one on Dearborn and Ontario that resembles kind of like a ER in a foreign country. This one is attended by people of all faiths and backrounds. Lots of middle easterners, Assyrians, eastern europeans and people who live in Lincolnwood. Last time I was here a few weeks ago I met some people who became new friends with me. This is like the gossip corner for some people which is OK with me i suppose. Lots of moms coming in here with their kids ordering frappucino's. Before you go off on them about taking their kids to a caffeine place, understand that its the year 2013 and that the kids are not in a gang, dont own handguns, they were going to be drinking caffeinated drinks anyway. I just left Starbucks and honestly don't want to drink my drink. I asked for a venti mango dragon with no ice. They gave me one with ice. Fine not an issue I let them know they take the drink back (normally they ask you if you want to keep the drink if they make a mistake) she asked me to remove my straw before she took the cup. So I did. She had no gloves on she took my cup removed the lid and started to pour it into another cup trying to hold the ice back with the lid in her hand remember no gloves. She realized the berries weren't coming out so she began making another drink (still no gloves) pits the lid on pours the other drink with ice down the sink (which I would've gladly taken if they offered) and gives me my new drink no gloves and all during covid, being touched all over and I'm not feeling it now....disappointing. This was our first visit here since Jack's closed. It is a large Starbucks so there were plenty of seats BUT the same men took up the comfortable chairs by the window the entire time we were here. Agree that it's inconsistent. Eric, Alex and Nancy are very friendly; others not so much as I don't know their names. This morning I got to the store at 5:15 am and they were not opening the door. Store opens at 5am but they were doing things. I knocked on the glass window, one person there acknowledged me and worked for another 5 minutes. I would have gone somewhere else except I had ordered online. Another customer arrived. We both waited another minute and the the door was opened. I was handed my coffee. No explanation or apology. I took the drink, drive away and sipped. Not my drink. Not the way I ordered it online. I had to return. Get it fixed. I guess I got there too early? I love this place! Their staff has always been amazing, until today. I had never personally encountered an employee by the name of Iman (I don't quite know if I got her name right). But she saw us come in and stood their. Drive thru staff didn't need her they were doing great. Then she walks towards the register and stops to pull out her phone. I don't know what she was going on it but she dealt with that before she walked passed me and started talking to my wife, like she didn't see me there. My wife was greeting another employee and the young lady was so busy in that conversation instead of taking my order that I had to repeat myself. I don't want to let this one person ruin my experience with the staff cause they are amazing but I feel that if she is in training she should be trained in customer interaction first. read more

I like the fact that this new Starbucks has a drive thru. This is definitely an area of town where people drive by and not sit around drinking coffee. I have not been inside us but the drive thru has been quick and easy. I like the fact that they changed the staff from the old Starbucks next door. While the old location has two older employees that were awesome, some of their other staff were absolutely terrible at their jobs and not attentive to customers. I don't know what it is about this place, but they never seem to get my mocha right. I usually go to Starbucks down the street by McCormick, but unfortunately they don't open until 6:30 (and today, by the time they opened, there was a mob already in front of me,so I had to come to this one). This is the 3d chance I've given them, but my drink seemed watered down and just didn't taste like my usual mocha. I'm going to look for another alternative. Someone from corporate should secret shopper this location, it has really slipped. I used to work in the area a few years back and would stop here every so often, but due to the odd parking and traffic I found myself at the one on Peterson more often. But at least back then they were equally friendly, quick and clean. Fast forward to this location now, I wanted to see if the barista had a pulse, he did manage a faint thank you at the end of the transaction, so that counts for star two, star one is because Yelp says so. Beyond that, clean up! There is dirt from a busy day and then there is dirt that is on top of dirt, grunchy, dusty, grimy, eww dirt. I don't think this would even be close to what Starbucks would consider close to being acceptable. Just sad, very sad, employees also seem sad. read more

But: if you are only allowing people to drive they instead of pickup in the store, or outside in a designated area, you should not have in your app that you offer pickup! So what i paid for my drinks and they're now going to be watered down and i have to wait in a drive thru line 30 cars long for my PICKUP ORDER? Yikes!! Where do I start..... First off the gentleman making our frappachinos was ungodly slow. He clearly looked like he mentally and physically checked out of work 2 hours prior. It was all over his sour face. I just don't like to see that when I am at a store. Makes me focus on what the hell the persons problem is instead of the company I am with. There was another girl there that kind of took over and got the sweets we ordered and had to reiterate the frap order again.... So we get to the car and the girls drink there caramel frapps and both of them almost at the same time say "what the heck is this"? So I taste one and it's like water. Almost no flavor. Last time I had one of those it was way sweeter and the ice was not crushed enough. There were chunks you bit into. Then I checked the other and HONESTLY it was worse. Something clearly was not added to the drink and unfortunately I am not versed enough in the ingredients to know what it was. So $17.00 dollars later I decided to not go in and complain. It was late and I just chalked it up to never going to that one again. Not usually like me, but had my chicken feathers on I guess. Then we ate our treats. The coffee cake was crusty....not in a good way, the apple fritter was good according to my one daughter and the BB muffin I had was alright. I have had better from Starbucks. So all in all, stressed out atmosphere, incorrectly prepared products and I will just chalk up the food to being close to closing time. The store was clean and the lady was very friendly at least. This Starbucks location doesn't indicate anywhere on the Starbucks app or online that you will have to go through the drive thru to get your pickup order. I had to call the store to find out this information. I don't see why this store even offers pickup since the point of ordering ahead is avoiding the line. Please update your page or offer a designated pickup area outside as is indicated on the app. I understand that businesses are adjusting in the midst of COVID-19, but patrons shouldn't have to wait an hour for their drinks when they've ordered ahead of time for PICK UP. Off the beaten path. Not in the sense that it's in a locale where it's not seen. It's within a busy intersection and nestled inside a strip mall, but due to its location is hard to get into due to traffic. The customers within are a representation of the neighborhood all around. On one occasion I saw a couple of guys drinking lattes and having a Bible discussion, in another area a couple huddled and studying a Torah and then in an opposite area of the shop a group of eastern Europeans having an intense conversation filled with smiles. There must be something about the coffee and atmosphere if so many feel comfortable enough to spend so much time. The seating area; couches and such at the front of the shop wraps around to the rear, a secluded area where people can sit and do undisturbed with their laptop or book. read more

Ok, so I should be ashamed to review a Starbucks, let alone review a place that is the McDonalds of Coffee. BUT, this is the best place around where I work to get coffee or tea (the Earl Grey Latte is made well). I come here a lot, mostly the bulk being the beginning of the year when its cold and I'm working long hours at work. The staff is nice and by now they know what I like. The atmosphere is like any starbucks, but somehow with a Eastern European feel. Don't bother with the outdoor seating, its on Touhy, and always too much traffic (and noise). read more

Not a bad SB location. One of my go to between work and school. The baristas here are hit or miss - I've had some that go above and beyond, and others who barely speak - but as long as they get me my coffee in a timely manner, I'm good. Sitting room varies depending on the time of day. The front part is usually filled up with regulars - a lot of middle eastern/europeans from LW hang out here. There is outside seating, but it is right up against Touhy, so it's not the most pleasant experience. I usually opt for one of the back tables, closer to the bathroom, because I am usually doing school or work here, or chatting with one friend over coffee. One thing to note is that the parking lot can be a bit of a disaster depending on the time of day, it can be very crowded, and it is not very large. read more

Eric the barista in the morning has absolutely minimal attention span. His coffee is always weak and the americano he makes is weak end tasteless. I have never seen a manager in this store and I refuse to go Back. The saddest story is when their "register" is not working they will give you regular coffee and not make an espresso drink.
