THIS REVIEW GOES FOR ANY AND ALL STARBUCKS Why do I keep trying?....because my friends are coffee lovers!....and since I hate coffee naturally I order a hot chocolate so I have something in hand while we chat.... I swear this is the last time though. Starbucks hot chocolate is awful awful awful. I drank maybe a quarter of the cup ....looked at it in absolute disgust and promptly tossed it in the trash. Seriously how hard is hot chocolate?....give me a packed of Nestle instant hot chocolate and a mug of hot water and I'd have something 10x better. read more

Just like most Starbucks locations, this one is also 'not bad'. They are pretty consistent in offering to you what you can expect. Same exact experience. Very corporate, you know... When a company expands too much, it gets kind of 'duh'. Like Nokia in mobile phones, Ford in automobiles, or Dell in computers... Starts really nice, good design, strong established company, good intentions, good taste, exciting product... and then at some point 'duh'... I still prefer their hot chocolate here (hence the 2 stars, instead of 1)- maybe because it is so dense, so sweet, so thick. I suspect it is because it has a high content of sugars, caffeine and fats. Peet's Coffee (right across the street) produces an organic hot chocolate: dark, real cocoa, full bodied, very aromatic; but it is not sweet... I guess it has low sugar content. And yeah I know it is healthier... but let me tell ya one thing, you health freaks: "healthy" means also well-being, and no matter what you do, sugar is part of it too. Food for the spirit- cure for when you are depressing. We are all depressing every once in a while, on a smaller or bigger scale. Such is life in the US. read more

Their social agenda is equally as childish in my opinion, I know they'll be fine without my support, I guess we'll just have to learn to live without each other. Came in to get something refreshing to drink before joining a friend at work nearby. Walked in and decided I'd try an iced tea of sorts instead of a frappucchino. Emiy was incredibly helpful and suggested I try the Iced Green Tea w/ Lemonade and since I didn't want too much sugar in my drink, she also suggested adding Splenda instead of the sweetener. Sooo good!! The customer service is great here. The baristas know their usual customers and are very friendly. And with great customer service comes a bit of a wait, because while you'll be provided with their full attention so will the customer before you. Proud Starbucks addict and gold card holder. You'd think I'd be biased, but in fact I think it makes me more critical. I know how these places should be, and this location hit all the spots for me. Two friendly baristas, two drinks made perfectly, two seats for me and someone special at the bar seating at the front window with a nice view of the busy street. Even said friendly barista cleaning the store as we sipped. Nothing but smiles and friendly things at this location. I only took a star off because it doesn't have much of a "homey" feel to it. But hey, what can you do when you're limited to the space you have. read more

This is a very nice, newer looking Starbucks. The crew seems genuinely happy to be here and the service is indicative. Very comfortable seating, great drinks were the highlight of this Starbucks run. There's a nice patio outside, however this was a cold day in LB and sitting in the much warmer inside was a must. Somehow, I landed the parking spot just in front but I'm pretty sure that's a freak accident. read more

What I really like about this Starbucks: it stays open an hour later than the other Starbucks right down the street! Strange. It's also larger, with a more spacious seating area. It's easier to spot than the other store, too, because it's on a corner and not tucked in-between larger shops. I am a huge fan of Starbucks (especially the iced black tea with soy milk instead of water, unsweetened) and they made my drink well. When I'm in this really cute area of Long Beach again, I'll definitely stop by. The people working there were friendly, lots of customers were seated working or chatting; this Starbucks had a good vibe. read more

Love this spot and staff usually very responsive and courteous. I still don't like Starbucks policy of only the barista can pour drinks. Doesn't make sense when there are drinks to be poured yet staff are wondering around stocking shelves and customers are waiting on an over worked barista. read more

Unfortunately, the customer service at this Starbucks location leaves me never wanting to come back! I'll start by saying that I am a Gold Star holder and use my phone app to make purchases. I LOVE the coffee and have been a loyal fan for years until visiting this particular location. My husband and I purchased a home in Belmont Shore 5 min. from this Starbucks and are aware that we have many choices when it comes to coffee. I have visited this Starbucks 5 times and every single time, the staff has been less than friendly. What's crazy, is that it's only at this particular Starbucks. It clearly seems to be the culture of this staff. Since I have many choices in Belmont Shore, (Pete's coffee, Coffee Bean, Polly's, Pandor) I will not hesitate to change. I want to feel comfortable wherever I go for great coffee and unfortunately, the staff at this particular Starbucks does not make the clientele such as myself feel welcome. read more

Went in at a good time, not to busy. I ordered one of Starbucks new orange cream soda drinks and my sister got a vanilla ice coffee. Nothing to write home about and wouldn't order it again. Besides the fact that you couldn't fit one more ice cube in my cup, the soda fell flat on taste. read more

I found this location about a week ago while walking down 2nd street, so I decided to inquire about the hours. I should have gotten the hint of how the service was going to be when the Barista gave me attitude for asking a question. But still I decided to stop and study after class tonight. Needless to say the same guy was there and gave me the same attitude as the first dayI visited the location. I will not be coming back!!!!!!!!!! starbucks is starbucks, whether you're a fan of coffee or you're not. I like the whole street just because its 2nd st. Maybe if i was a coffee addict id give this place a 4. One thing i must point out is that the power outlets are very limited throughout the store. So I'm a person who likes to study at coffee houses, therefore this can become a big hassle. read more

Love this place... yes it is Starbucks but the customer service and the quickness this place has is great. They are beyond busy but the beat of their drum is phenomenal. This place is absolutely gorgeous since the remodel. I love the big, spacious patio, I love the way the inside is spaced out so you have plenty of places to sit at, and also how the store is set up with the products and merchandise lining the back walls. It's beautiful. The staff is always friendly and on point, the drinks are always made perfectly. This is my favorite Starbucks, by far. Also, Diane is the best barista ever and she cares more about her job and customers more than I've ever seen in any employee before. Seriously, people could take a page out of her book and learn a thing or two to apply it to their own lives and jobs. Being one of those guys that hang out at Starbucks with my iPad and the free wifi , it's easy to see after trying out dozens of locations , how different they can be from place to place. I'm a big fan of the "blond roast" coffee, but most places stop brewing it about 11:00 am.... I've been told that all Starbucks will brew it for you if you request it even after 12:00 pm, but I noticed most locations gave me the "stink eye" with an annoyed look after I asked. One place flat out refused,...the barista said : "we're just too busy"... But after visiting this location I found out that not only they brewed my favorite coffee until late evening, but they said : "we'll be glad to make you a cup anytime".... And that came with a smile in her face ! So thank you for taking care of us "picky customers" and please keep those double chocolate brownies well stocked. Two drawbacks : local bum hangout and slooow wifi. read more

This place used to have much better customer service. Being in the customer service industry myself, I can understand being annoyed with people that act like divas or ask for a bunch of extra things but even then, you deal with it with a smile/ professionalism and go complain about it later to your friends like everyone else.... but I literally just asked the barista for a straw to go with my drink, and he gave me this nasty af look like I was inconveniencing him. If you hate your job that much or are incapable of making a coffee while handing out a straw (in an almost empty store, at that), maybe barista is above your pay grade? read more

I come here once a week to have a hot drink, and use the Internet. Drinks are good, service is great, but the number of dogs sitting outside is really troubling. Ok dogs are cute, but they sometimes don't get along well. Today there were 7 dogs outside, yes 7, loitering with their owners, there was a lot of commotion, and some dogs were snapping at each other. Not a pretty sight. 2nd street is famous for being dog friendly and that's fine, but loitering in front of an establishment is not safe for dogs, or people. I am giving it two stars, because the experience of coming and leaving isn't pleasant. read more

Good drink. Okay service from the barista. However an employee literally began sweeping under my table while simultaneously managing to sweep my feet and not apologize for it. I understand it is your job to sweep and clean the establishment, but not while customers are sitting there. She proceeded to sweep around us as if she was in such a hurry. It was still early, and no where near closing so I really don't understand why she felt the need to disturb customers. I genuinely would've found it better if she asked if she could sweep around us, but literally brushing the broom on the feet of customers is beyond me. Do better. read more

I enjoy Starbucks Coffee. Anywhere you go in the US you can find the same quality store and the same great products. Of course being from Italy I can't say it's authentic, but it is an American version of an Italian idea, and I like American coffee. This particular location however... Please somebody teach them how to make a single espresso macchiato. It has to be served in a SMALL ceramic espresso cup in order to keep the heat and the aroma. They serve it on a bigger paper cup (even though it's small to them I guess) and the coffee gets cold and looses its aroma. So I always ask for the little ceramic cup. A couple of workers say they don't have them, not true... You may not want to clean dishes but you do have them Others say the do. Well they had only 2 cups for the whole store and now one broke. So they are left with one. I brought a friend of mine for an espresso, telling him let's choose Starbucks over all these other coffee places around us. Well he was disappointed. Big paper cup, cold coffee and too long. They make great lattes but please learn how to make a hot espresso, not too long, and invest in little ceramic cups. And make sure you steam the cup before you put the coffee. Other locations have served me wonderful espressos, so I know Starbucks can do it! read more

She loves this place so much that I had to sell my car and downgrade to walking... yes... things are THAT bad. She keeps talking about how much she loves their soy chai... their clean bathrooms, the people watching and running my bank account dryer than the Sahara dessert. Outdoor patio is awesome ! Was at Starbucks on 2nd St Belmont Shore today 3/19.....get the whole grab and go situation, no seating available. My friend and I had our coffee when it started to pour down heavy rain, we were standing outside on the patio area waiting for the rain to ease up, along with an elderly man doing the same, when one of the staff came out and told us to move that we couldn't stand there on the patio due to a city ordinance, we explained we were just waiting for the rain to ease a little and we would leave, this rude young lady then said she would call the police If we didn't leave. I've been a Starbucks patron for as long as they have had stores in Southern California and I can always count in a good cup of joe from them. However, there is one particular issue I have with them that causes me to write this critical review. I come in and purchase $12.00 of product and they won't accept the $100 bill I have in my wallet. Seriously! The Starbucks here on 2nd Street in Belmont Shore probaby takes in $30,000 per day and the refuse to accept a a brand new $100 bill I just got from the bank. I call bullshit. The people in this neighborhood are more likely to have $100 bills in their wallets than $10's or $20's and this is especially true the week before Christmas when everyone is shopping. Instead of accepting my $100 bill and making changes they force me to pay with a credit card. What a shit store. read more

Had the best experience at this Starbucks. First off I was greeted by a most delightful young lady, Meagan....I believe her name was. Me and the wife had just finished eating at Our favorite Bohemian restaurant just a few blocks away, when we decided, Hey it's time for Starbucks! There were some new cool ideas for coffee drinks, we totally trusted Meagan to both pick and make our drinks! Best idea ever! This amazing lady made the mostest bomb-dignity drink ever! The store was decorated too, very holiday and Christmas festive. There were these decorated little bags with employee names on them to leave notes, appreciations, and thanks. Come to find out the little bags were Meagan's idea and her craft to add to the Christmas cheer for her co-workers. Amazing cool idea! Totally Rad idea actually! This Meagan needs a big fat bonus and then some, and an epic pat on the back for her attitude and willingness to add a totally awesome Epic Coffee for me and my amazing lovely Maleficent Wife to enjoy! Terrible service. The 2 baristas were busy chatting with a customer whose drink they got. They completely ignored the rest of us standing in line even looking at us then ignoring us. And they weren't even making the drink order for the guy who ordered before the woman they were talking to. I went back outside with my friends without ordering. Really good customer service - everyone helps you with a smile but I am giving this place 3 stars based on product. Ordered a green tea latte and asked for 2 extra scoops of matcha. The barista poured ice in my cup, poured the milk and then added the matcha powder to the top, spun it around and presented it to me. If the drink isn't shaken, it clunks up making it impossible to drink without balls of green tea powder in your mouth. Totally a fan of bubble tea but not a fan of matcha powder balls.
